  1. Yeah, but he's also got a decent finishing and your playing him as a IF, so I would want him inside taking shots. Hence the curl shots also. He'll hit those nice top corner strikes from the top of the box. Hopefully.
  2. Places shots (or is it curls ball?) Cuts inside Are two easy ones I think anyways
  3. Oh wow! Me too! I remember I came across this via some sort of offer in the back of a computer magazine which sent me a whole box of disks with various games in it. I had no idea about it, but I played sooo much of it. And even more odd? As an American, the team I chose to play was named Wrexham. Never heard of them, but I liked the name. Imagine my surprise all these years later when America also learns there's a town and a team named Wrexham....
  4. It's definitely more possession oriented than what you are going for, but I've noticed it also works very well if I play on the counter. Having that two striker partnership really shines when the DLF takes the pass and hits a thru ball to the AF. So that makes me curious to see how well your low block and counter version does. Might be good if I adopt that for the mega teams like Bayern or when I faced ManU in the Champions League. But my board forbids me playing like that all season.
  5. Interested to see how you do with this. I use a 442 with a mid block with the D pushed up to provide that compact defensive idea. I also am trying to use low pressing to see if I can move away from that high-press meta and also retain my defensive shape better with a combination of PI's and OI's. It's had some mixed results so far. I also consider Work Rate as one of those most important attributes as I've noticed defenders without it tend to be those that leave me frustrated when they switch off and let someone run by them. This is my 442 at the moment. 2nd in the Bundesliga, but 10pts behind the mighty Bayern. I don't play on the counter like you are, but maybe that'll change.
  6. Funny, you keep saying that to others posting here also. Maybe you need to just move on when you don't agree with someone and not go back and post stalk them?
  7. I hadn't noticed that. Can you change only the formation, or can you go deeper and change roles/PI/TI ?
  8. I see lots of what I call "lazy passes" which are these slow passes that the defense easily picks off. I chalk it up to the game deciding there's supposed to be a turnover and the match engine playing it out as that slow pass. It's maddening to watch because you know what's about to happen. Kind of like those long replays where your team builds up with lots of possession and you are sure you are going to score....only to make one of those bad passes and then you know you are in trouble.
  9. I can't tell you how much I'm starting to hate this. Ask any question about the game? "You need to show us your tactic" as if that's the answer to everything.
  10. Thanks, I thought that was the reason. Good to know for sure. My board is going to build a new stadium, I'll have to hope it'll be an all-seated one.
  11. I think the IW sits narrower and is more inclined to cut inside. No hard proof on that, just my idea from playing with both in my main tactic.
  12. "Pump Fist" + "I have faith in you" = Smiley players.
  13. Are Match Plans only used when getting an "Instant Result"? I read about them in the manual, but it doesn't seem to say. I know I have the choice to choose a match plan when I use Instant Result, but does a Match Plan get used any time? Like when I'm watching a match, will it make changes for me then? How about when I go on Holiday?
  14. How do you set the PI's to Close down more often, when you are already playing the highest pressing setting in the TI's? Am I missing something there?
  15. If you are going to use the auto resolve, I always assumed you would want to setup the Match Plans to make a lot of decisions for them.
  16. I've tried so many different ways to try to get them to mark the wingers from the goal kick, but have never been able to. Like I've said, I know I've seen the AI do, so next time I see, I'll have to look. I wonder if the marking attribute has anything to do with it? But....yeah, having your wingers mark the WB's can be very useful. I try to do it whenever there's a dangerous WB.
  17. I've seen a lot of "trusted" FM players say this doesn't matter. But I agree with you, I train my players in their positions and roles so they have near perfect familiarity and I absolutely believe it makes a difference. I think this is often overlooked when people give advice about the game.
  18. This is my team, playing as a 442, defending a goal kick like Brighton. It's "prevent short GK" which does this I'm pretty sure. In this game, I'm playing a low block, so that's not what causes them to push so high up. It's got to be Prevent short GK.
  19. It's using 'Prevent Short GK Distribution' in the defensive options.
  20. One thing I've yet to figure out, is how to cover those FB's on the goal kick. I've seen the AI do it to me, but even with PI's set to mark those players with Tight Marking also ticked, they still setup like shown below with the wingers still playing far off the FB's. Winger's don't typically have the best Marking attribute, so maybe that's it, but I've certainly seen the AI have their wingers locking down my FB's on a goal kick, effectively marking them out of the game there. Thanks for doing this @CAE82, that was an interesting idea and kinda neat to see how the AI reacts to different situations there. Definitely gives some thought to how to tweak playing out of the back.
  21. That's from Fm22. In the video, he shows examples of how the TI pressing triggers at something like a radius from the player and setting it higher and lower seems to affect how large that radius is.
  22. I've watched this video a couple times, and I think he does a good job of explaining exactly what the TI press does. In a nutshell, it controls how far individual players will go out of their way to press the ball. As in, how far from their position will they go in order to press. The OI press instruction seems to control whether or not a player is pressed, although I can set it to never press a player, and I'll see him still trigger a press when he has the ball. I wonder if the TI pressing has to do with that?
  23. Thanks, but I'm like 15 years into a career now. I doubt you know any in my world at this point. But you are spot on about them, beyond everything else, they *have* to be fit. Which means finding 2 good one (and 2 decent ones for backups) is quite the feat. Which is why I wonder if it's worth trying to train them into the role.
  24. I always have this problem, too. The answer, for me anyways, is to go more direct and play wider. Generally with a higher tempo, counter attack and Playing into space. You'll have to live with not having the lion's share of possession, but that's the price for playing more route one. You want to bypass the midfield altogether and get the ball upfield and either hit them on the counter, or get a set play/throw in which allows you to setup your offense in their half, for a little bit anyways. Eventually, you'll get better players which are better on the ball, more composed and can deal with the press better and you won't have to play this way as much. But even then, I still do now and then when teams are very good defensively.
