  1. I tinkered with the 343 for a couple seasons in my save, but I found it next to impossible to find quality WB's that are actually natural at that position. And since they are so important to the tactic (IMO) they are some of the most expensive players in the game it seems. It's the one thing that keeps me from experimenting with it, but as I've grown the club and gotten more resources, I might give it another try. Does it make sense to try to take more conventional WB's and retrain them?
  2. Any player with a high aggressive attribute will always display that. And it's not a bad thing you want to remove. Being aggressive doesn't equate to making bad tackles or bad behavior. I can't for the life of me understand why people want to make excuses for this. It's definitely a problem that you can NEVER alleviate a player who "looks nervous coming on" even when you catch it and give him a talk which goes well and appears to change him. Should it work all the time? Of course not, that wouldn't seem normal. But it NEVER works. Did I say NEVER enough times yet? The fact it NEVER works is the problem and unrealistic.
  3. More of a "why do I" - why do I have these huge areas of unsold seats in Champions League? Are they unseated and not allowed? And how to I get them upgraded? Is it a request for a larger stadium or a new stadium?
  4. What I've been doing, is just changing this on a game by game, or even half by half basis. I'll switch the IW to support and the WB to attack. My WB has progressed into a very good attacking player, so it's getting harder to not use him as such. But if the opponents winger is very dangerous, I have to leave the WB on support to make sure he defends more. Getting caught with him all the way up field has burned me now and then.
  5. It's not so much that they get nervous, it's there's seemingly no way to solve it. Like I've been saying, you can see they are nervous when you sub them in, and give them a talk that seems to change it. But it doesn't. Ever. Even if once in a while it didn't, that would make sense. But it never does, and that is what's not realistic. And it's frustrating because these subs are taking attribute hits and not playing up to their expectations due to this. Always.
  6. I'm currently reading through this, but it seems well regarded so maybe it'll help you also. FM23 Secrets to goalscoring.
  7. Sorry, but that doesn't fly. There's no reason for a vet to be nervous coming into a game. Also, if I catch it and give him a talk beforehand which changes him to "looked inspired" or something similar with the green face, then why would he still be nervous? Ad to that he was in the game, went thru a halftime teamtalk which resulted in green faces for everyone and then STILL was "looked nervous" in the second half? Nah.....no way. Edit: here's another example. I'm playing a match right now against a bottom table team. I have a CD who isn't getting much game time and is a little concerned about it so I started him. He was nervous in the pre game. I gave him a talk, and now he's "appears inspired" at the start of the game. So that seems to work. it's just this "looked nervous coming on" which doesn't seem to work.
  8. These are my attributes for my manager. I'm pretty damn good at motivating players. The player I talked about above, is a 6 year starter for me whom I sat out that game to give a little rest. He's got a "perfectionist" personality and a level-head media personality. There's no reason he should be nervous coming in a game. The "looked nervous coming on" is broken as far as I'm concerned.
  9. I'm really frustrated with how this is working. You can sub a player, and if you see he is nervous, you can use a shout and even if you get a good result (green face) he still goes into the game as "looked nervous coming on". Had a player I needed to sub on 5 mins before halftime due to an injury with exactly what I described above. Gave him a talk....nothing. Halftime comes around, I give a team talk which is well received and gave the player an individual talk which again resulted in a "looked inspired". Comes into the game "looked nervous coming on". Broken. Just broken. Feels like I should've left the damn injured player on....
  10. I try to use this as one of my measures when scouting, but I have to admit I have no idea what affects this and if it's possible to change or evolve with the player. A quick search really doesn't turn up anything. Does anyone have any thoughts on this rating and how it's determined? Is it possible to improve this over time, ie: as the player features in your tactic, will this improve over time?
  11. Great idea. I switched to a 442 in my Dresden save and have done pretty well in the last two seasons now. I think it offers good positioning for both a possession oriented style or a more direct counter one. I've used it for both. Currently I'm doing a more possession oriented one, as I've got the players to play this way. One thing I always struggle with, is what sort of pairing to use as my midfield two? Any discussion there is welcome. I know the B2B and BWM is the standard, but I don't have those style players and instead am using a DLP/MEZ, with the MEZ sometimes changed to a CM.
  12. This is always true. "get better players" is kind of a no-brainer. What I've come to accept, is that you can't play like like Barca when you are a mid table team. You need to play more direct and not be afraid to play a mid or low block and just allow that you aren't going to dominate possession. Until you are in a position to get those better players, of course. There's a youtuber I've watched recently, Old Man Phil, which has a great piece of advice. "If you can't do it, don't do it". Simple, eh? If your team isn't good at counter attacking, don't do it. This means you need to take the time to understand your teams strengths and weaknesses and craft your tactic around it. But it's true and will make a difference in your game if you do it.
  13. I do, but only if they aren't already inspired or motivated or something similar. I'll try it again, but it's never worked for me so far. I do my best to have "good" personality types, so not sure what personalities it doesn't affect. I'll try this and see. I usually do a team talk if I notice they are nervous coming on, and am usually successful with at least getting a "looks inspired" or similar.
  14. I just don't get this. Some of my more veteran players constantly exhibit this. I've tried "No Pressure" and I've tried "Encourage" and it changes nothing. Anyone have any ideas?
  15. IMO, this is due to the AI is now taking you seriously. They are pressing and marking you, which they probably didn't before because you weren't seen as a top contender. This happens to me every time, and is annoying....yet it's also a good thing because it forces you to evaluate your tactics. Before, you could get away with having some holes because the AI teams weren't giving their all against you. Now, you need to be sure you are sound and have little or no mistakes.
  16. That's an interesting idea. Would it be advisable to use both on attacking duties, or only one?
  17. Playing a 442, and on the right side I have two very good attacking wings. One WB and one ML. They are both pacey, good crossers and dribblers, etc. What do people think are the best way to use these players together? I've always been told to balance things, so I currently have the midfielder on attack and the WB on support, but I'd love to get the WB up the field more with the ML taking a support role sometimes. Is there good way to do this in a game?
  18. I've noticed that I can't seem to tell my players never mark and never press. I try setting those OI's to the CD's and every time my strikers press them still.
  19. I think I have at least 7-8 playable countries, maybe a couple more. This guy happens to be German, but the majority of them are Spanish. It's a little weird and makes me wonder if I have something setup a little screwy.
  20. I see a lot of players that are well recommended, but 22-23 yrs old and not developed. I'm kinda unsure why I'm getting these "A" recommendations from my scouts for players which I would think should be better developed by this age. I never sign these guys, but it's strange to see so many of these 22-23 year olds that have 4-5 star potentials. I just can imagine they will ever really reach it, and I pass on them all. Should I be doing that?
  21. Right, that's good advice to wait until July 1, for EU anyways, for all the coach contracts to come to an end.
  22. Yeah, I find that interesting although I do understand there's personalities you absolutely don't want.
