  1. I have a 433 I crafted myself, and was not just working well, it was working GREAT. I took over 3.Liga Dresden in my Journeyman save and after some work, went on a 22 game unbeaten streak. During this, we played some awesome football at times with some nice passing and moving and scoring going on. And then it went bad all at once. Of course other teams started pressing high with some tight lines. And it also seems like they are tight marking *everyone*. None of my players have any space. I've also noticed the main issue are teams that play a 4231, as it's shape seems to counter my 433 well. What do you do in these cases? It's something I've always struggled with when this happens. I could change my shape to a 4231 I guess, but I'd prefer to learn instead what things I might modify to counter the other teams. I think what I need is to find a way to open up space for my midfield. It's so congested they have no room to work so they just either keep passing the ball back to the defenders, or they hoof balls up to the wingers who just get swarmed and lose possession. I'll show my formation, but it's really nothing too fancy as you can see.
  2. I had a similar problem. If your players are constantly passing to the wings, where they either try to dribble forward or just lose it, then that means your midfield isn't open for passes. You need to change roles/duties in midfield (and maybe wingers) so they are available to receive passes. I'd first check to make sure you have support and attacking duties spread evenly.
  3. Thank you @Rashidi. Taking the time to read this really gave me a better insight into tactics. Which in turn will surely result in more fun. And, I feel like I better understand the how and why behind how teams in real life play as well. One thing I'd love to learn more about, would be the differences between IWB on defense, support and attack duties.
  4. I've run into this a lot in my season in the 3.Liga (Germany). They have a lot of teams that play 3-5-2 and that compressed line is ROUGH sometimes. So much I'm considering it myself. Maybe there's your next one?
  5. Nothing more than to just say thanks! I always appreciate people taking the time to explain their thinking. It's easy to put up something and call it good, it's another to actually take the time to answer questions and explain why it is.
  6. How is this done? I can't find anything in the tactic which instructs this.
  7. One bit of new player advice I would give: train your players for their position AND role for your tactic. For example- don't let your right Wing Back train simply as a D(R), make sure they are training as a WB-support, if that's your role for them in the tactic. This gives your whole team familiarity with your tactic and some cohesion. You can see this in the Familiarity bar on your tactics screen. Seems obvious, but I rarely see people mention this (maybe because it's so obvious?)
  8. I started an international save as the manager of the American team. I loaded the MLS and the top 6-7 leagues. I need some new/better staff and when I goto the staff screen to hire, there's only 14 staff in total available. I thought I made some mistake with a filter, but it's been cleared and there's only 14 staff? Surely I'm doing something wrong here? Anyone give me some advice?
  9. I have a great IW in my first team now for a couple seasons who consistently finds himself in scoring positions. But he has a finishing attribute of 8, so he generally squanders those. I've trained him with a "rounds the keeper" trait, but I've never seen him use it as he's rarely in a position to do that. Is there a trait I could train him in which would help him score more reliably?
  10. I've done a bit of testing on this as well, and one thing I've noticed is you really need to make sure you SS has the PPM's you mention, or they don't seem to get forward enough. It could be the players I'm using, but they have no PPM's at all, and the SS never really seems to make any runs into the box.
  11. I've been a big fan of this also. And it's something I almost never see all these so called expert You Tube folks cover. Having your players be 100% familiar with your tactic makes a big difference, IMO.
  12. Looking forward to see how you complete this. I've already started attempting to craft a tactic using this, so I'll be paying attention to see what kind of instructions you might think are appropriate, etc.
  13. Sure, that makes sense. But then when I'm looking at my rosters/players or even transfers, does it use my judging attributes then? Seems there certainly must be a place where they do matter, otherwise why do I have them as a manager?
  14. Just curious, because every time I see a report from my staff, it seems they are the ones giving me feedback on player potential and ability. But I have much better attributes in those areas. How are my attributes being used then?
