Wicked Wilson Posted January 3, 2009 Share Posted January 3, 2009 New WW's Wing Cutter New 4 Tactics Added Overview There is two different versions to this tactic (V1 and V2) so please try both to see which one works best for you, they have similar layouts but slightly different instructions. I have been working on building my own tactics this year due to the completely different new match engine and made this tactic that i originally built for the 9.0.1 match engine and it worked well. Then when the 9.2.0 patch came out and changed the match engine to big lengths i tweaked it and hey-presto, it works!. It is based on a 4-4-2 system using possession to wear down the opponents and using strikers to burst through the defense at blistering pace, another element this tactic uses is wingers cutting in and squaring it across the box for the strikers tap in or the centre mids waiting for their chance on the edge of the area. My Season I have used this tactic in my first season on my Everton game, finishing 2nd in the league having bought no-one except Mascio as a backup midfielder. I scored the most in the league, scoring 77, and had James Vaughan scoring 16 in 31 games and Yakubu scoring 21 and these both played striker for me. My wingers were also a key part in my season with Baines scoring 4 and assisting 11 and Arteta scoring 8 and assisting 16. Defensively i had the 5th best defensive record conceding 40 although i did have injury problems in this area and with a lack of a backup keeper. In the League Cup i lost 1-0 to Liverpool in the final and i won the FA Cup bu beating Arsenal. In the Euro Cup i got to the 2nd Knockout round, losing to Man City and i won the Community Shield beating league winners Newcastle 2-0 (Odd, i know). I have also used this tactic on my online game as Fiorentina and finished 2nd in the league behind A.C. Milan and won the Euro Cup beating Chelsea in the final and was runner up the the Italian Cup. Full Backs: Mainly defensive although do go forward to support the wingers and give them an easy pass out. More important to have defensive qualities then attacking one's. Centre Backs: Will play quite deep and need to have decent pace. Jumping also helps but isn't as important as pace but with be useful from set pieces. Also it is good if the y have good passing ability as they will often be trying to find the midfielders. Centre Mid (Left): The left centre mid is the more defensive one and will be an option for the defenders to pass to. He will help out the defense and pick out passes so needs good tackling and positioning. Occasionally he may have a few pot shots as well so long shots could come in handy. Centre Mid (Right): The right centre mid is the more attacking one and is the one who will be waiting on the edge of the area for the pull back from the wingers. He needs to have high work rate and good passing however he will occasionally get one-on-one aswell so finishing could be useful. Long shots again is helpful but not a necessity. Wingers: Need to have good dribbling and crossing, although finishing is not that important as they will only be picking up the scraps from the shots. Passing is also useful aswell as is pace but not that important. Strikers: They swap positions so it's not too important which one goes in which position however it is better if you have a player who is quite quick but also has good height in the right strikers slot whereas the left strikers slot is more important for quick players with good finishing and composure. Playmaker: This is either your attacking mid or one of your two wingers depending on whichever one is best. If you start having problems with either of these tactics after initial success then try changing your playmaker as eventually the AI will mark your playmaker out of the game so changing him could have a huge effect on your results. V2 is probably better for the lower league teams as you don't have to be as accurate with passing, crossing etc. V1 is more precise through the middle stuff. First match won Man city at home 2-1. 2nd match, Won 2-1 against MANU! Took alot of whacking from Manu but i guess this tactic is designed in a way to make them shoot all way out? Roma 1-0 Napoli - So unlucky here totally outplayed them from start to finish but i suppose i changed to these tactics after getting beat 4-0 against catania using blitz tactic so it was only my first game using this. Then..... Napoli 2-1 A.C. Milan - What a result again we outplayed them and this time we got the result we deserved, this is the first time in FM09 that i have beat a "big team" with a smaller side. I would say it depends on where you would say the strongest part of your midfield is. If you would say that it is your wingers then V2 would be better but if your centre attacking mid is better then use V1. Obviously your strongest part of your squad would depend on your signings but personally i would use V2 with no signings as i think Man City's wingers are quite strong, with Petrov as playmaker Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Not much chances created. not really, just from what i can remember he has decent skill and is a good crosser. I don't have FM on me atm so not sure what good players Man City have but if Petrov isn't working out for you try putting it to Elano or whoever is your attacking cm.Also the main attributes needed for a winger is probably crossing, dribbling and team player(or whatever that attribute was called) Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Wicked Wilson Posted January 4, 2009 Author Share Posted January 4, 2009 just something I forgot to add, V2 is probably a better tactic if you need to be a bit more defensive and have lower quality players (such as in lower league football) but V1 is better i think for the better quality players as it needs to be a lot more precise with the passing and striker anticipation. thempesth Posted January 4, 2009 Share Posted January 4, 2009 version 1 of the tactic is good...i manage hoffenheim, and after 9 games(2 in cup)i am second,1 point behind stuttgart...the main results are 2-0 with bayern and 6-2 with HSV-with hamburg the match was for the cup(both at my home ground)...i have only one loss in these 9 matches, with schalke, also at my home ground, 2-3(1-0 for schalke, 2-1 for me, 3-2 for them )...anyway...the team plays fairly good...the matches are alterating the good shows with not so good performances...but anyway, will keep the tactic and will keep you up to date...good work, btw Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

thempesth Posted January 4, 2009 Share Posted January 4, 2009 one more thing...the centre mid(right)has some,lets say,small problems...i have on that position celso borges, and as i saw in the first post, that man must have good work rate(celso has 17), good passing(16-creativity 16), finishing(also 16)...long shots 9 anyway, he has good marks, but he always has the note after a match under 7...9 full played matches, 6.68 average rating with only 3 goal passes(no goals scored)...i think that you should take a look at that position...i will do that too, cause my chairman sais he is dissapointed with the buying of celso borges :| and the rest have high average ratings, over 7 in every match,even in the 2-3 loss with schalke or 0-0 with leverkusen Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Thanks I'd been switching them around throughout the season as this was the main position that was inconsistent (as thempesth found out) but i am working on it now and so far the fix i am trying seems to be working so far but just want to test it out a bit more. Ok thanks mate i think i et what you mean, that you just selected the default attacking midfielder options from the drop down list. I'll give that a try aswell as my attacking mid isn't scoring many at the minute but is asissting a few. Will update you on how i get on aswell.
