[FM23] 5TATMAN (Version 5.0 - Updated 17.09.23)

I know I had a lot of other things to work on but I'm really digging into what I can show, statistically, from the stats within the game. I've had a little re-jig of that area and I quite like where it's going...

Main area:

Looks unchanged but arrows at the top stop the additional info from popping out, instead opening within the area it has. The right button then opens a series of further explanations of the metrics highlighted in the first place - purposely keeping them separate from the entire list because, sometimes, a wall of numbers can be pretty daunting to extract understanding from.

I'd built the first one before I'd realised I could slightly change the method and, as such, change the titles, so I imagine I'll rename that as something in the short term before a little rebuild. Currently, the pie charts go up in 5% increments, which is fine but can always be developed. Also, I'm tempted to round off the corners a little on the xA/xG bars because I think it'll look nicer and then, of course, I can dig into keeping ones. 

I'd love some feedback on these!

I looked at this and was very confused! I’m assuming that you’re using an older version of the skin and have transposed the opposition report panel on to the right hand side of the top image?

I had really thought about doing something along those lines, yes, but had actually forgot that I’d need to go through some different panel classes to get it showing and had then abandoned the idea. A more ‘comparative’ tactical area - where I can be pragmatic in setting out my team based on what the opponents’ predicted style might be feels like it would fit nicely in my overall ideology. 

I do know - however - that the additional info I’ve added to the icons does not work with a vertical pitch so I need to consider having two pitches essentially facing the same way - not ideal - or finding a way to buy myself some more room.

Is that the kind of thing you envisaged? Each of the darker areas will be a button for things like squad list, subs, opposition reports etc.

Ok - got a little carried away with making some things. Rationale is to be able to make tactical decisions based on the opponent and, as such, I want to see as much about them as I do my own team. I'm aware I need a squad list so that is there (although second button on the left does not work at present) but I think that this is moving towards what I envisage...

I was sharing the images with it on the other setting. I would tend to leave it on the one below and flick over when needed:

sweet, is it possible to add the last match that your team played to compare; say if you made tactical switches? not sure if it's possible though

Briefly tried last night but ran into an issue as the container had the same ID as the next match one - so only one worked. Will try a workaround later…

This skin is became day by day even better, for me the only “major “ issue is the lack of selection in individual shouts in game .

No one has access to FM24 so it would be impressive if the skin was ready for it.

What we've seen so far seems relatively similar, yes. However, often things change behind the scenes so I will have to check that during the Beta phase.

You can do what you like personally as long as you don't ask me for any translations or release the skin - under my name or any other name. Hope that clears that up?

It’s an issue at my end that I just haven’t got round to releasing an update for yet. That panel is resolution dependent and, for me, it fills my screen but I know it won’t for everyone. I’ve remade the tactics panel - see above - to show the comparative lineups and my next job, when I actually get time to load the game, is to make sure it works on the pre-game screen, too. 

Apologies for the need for a workaround in the short term!

I don’t see why it wouldn’t. I’ll drop you a message once I’m near a release point and walk you through how to ‘reverse’ those changes. 

I’m making some quite big amendments at present and will need to canvas some opinions soon!

Going to keep my thoughts for the new skin in here until I'm ready to release...

My plan for FM24 is to pull back on the wild creativity a little, making sure what I do is good and is correct. I'm going to be moving away from quite a few things that I've built and borrowed - so gone will be loads of graphical inputs, like the ones you can see on the top of this page will be taken off but maybe reused somewhere else and things like the Pizza Charts - thanks @GIMN!!  I still want to utilise the difference between the human and the AI profile but feel that having all of that info on one panel is just overkill. So, here is my plan...

The issue is that it pretty much only works at 85% zoom on 1920x1080 resolution. Would appreciate some feedback here...

Personally, I play on 2560*1440 at 110% (not that I'm suggesting this should be important in any way, just in case you're looking for an indication of the customers' typical usage)

I've always preferred more panels on a single profile page, too. I know that most people think it gets messy and prefer a 'clean' page, but - probably because I have so much real estate on the screen - I just want it all in one place without needing to click through. I suspect that I will be in the minority here.

My other thought is that you really need to get some face and logo packs.

Logo packs and faces are out whilst I make some changes because the refresh rate is a lot lot faster!

I have spent FM23 building loads of different graphs and charts and stuff but I just want to streamline it a little. My concern is that, even at 95%, the skin hugely skewed. I think I might try for a halfway house, as it were. Wanting an ‘Attribute Hub’ where I can dig into more of that area and a ‘Stats Hub’ where I can explore the percentile graphs I’ve made and more. The ability to click between them in one click rather than go through several buttons  to un-hide and flow through in a small area just feels like the logical next step.

Ok, so I've tidied a few things up and made it feel a bit fresher. Still got the sizing issue but this is now built a lot more organically, without added spacers. This should mean that it's a little more responsive to changes in resolution.

The only issue with this is that I notice that at 85%, some of the text gets difficult to read. Maybe that could just be my tired eyes playing on a laptop too :lol:

I’m phasing out attribute numbers because I prefer graphics and it’s hard to ensure that both are available on every panel. For now, you can still select attribute numbers on the player profile.

Quite fun to be fair but also glad that FM25 will be new. The files are messy and convoluted but I’m enjoying tidying things and adding a few new ideas to it. Still on schedule for a release, maybe a beta (signifying my shift to less update through the cycle), not long after the full release.

1: The suggestion here is to move the Transfer Status info/line into the "contract box/panel" on the bottom right, so we can quickly/easily see everything money/contract/transfer related stuff in the same area. So if we wanna see anything related to that we can quickly glance to the bottom right and find everything we need to know right in there.

 

2: Not sure if this one is something that fits your vision for this skin, but another suggestion would be adding the player's "squad status / playing time" in this same box/panel.

 

3: This one is about the "Best Role" field being repeated in two different places, but I wasn't so sure if I should include it or not, for 2 reasons: First, I don't know for sure if the 2 fields will always "match", I feel like they might be different for some players, is that assumption correct? Second: I still quite like seeing that "Best Role" field in there. Like I said, I don't know, this is me rambling I guess... :D might be better to skip this one.

 

4: This one is my favorite/main suggestion:

 

What I like the most in sports management games is seeing a player's historical statistics (it helps tell a history), but unfortunately that is the worse thing FM does IMO, it's just terrible when it comes to that. I have been doing something that alleviates that problem a little:

 

So, my skinning knowledge is basically 0, but I ended up learning a tiny bit just so I could do this to every single skin I end up using: I always add a player's All Time Career Apps/Goals to his profile.

 

I thought you might also like having that info in there, not only because of the name of your skin but also 'cause from what I can tell you have always included this info in the previous versions of the skin. As an example of what I mean, here's a random SS I picked from one of your old posts:

That little panel you created (which I highlighted with a green box above) is one of my favorite of all time, it's awesome. But I can see how it might be hard to find room to include it in the skin, so I'm gonna throw an idea in your direction (number "4" in the first SS) which I'm not even sure if it's doable or not in terms of what FM allows the users to change:

 

In your current skin, we have "CAPS" on the left, and "13 caps / 2 goals" (in this Zaniolo screenshot's example) on the right. Would it be possible to add a new line, where you could write a "generic description" (something like "CAREER STATS") on the left, and on the right show the player's All Time Career Apps and Goals, in a similar fashion to how we see the International statistics? 

 

The idea is to have this line below the International Stats line, so we can quickly see a player's all time career statistics including international football and club football close together.

 

It would look something like this as an example:

 

CAPS ------------------ 13 caps / 2 goals

CAREER STATS ----- 95 apps / 12 goals

 

In this case you could also change the "Caps" name/field into "International Stats" or something similar, so it fits better with the new line.

 

 

Anyway, sorry for the rambling mess. :lol: Even if none of the ideas end up fitting your vision, I hope it can at least inspire/help you in some way. 

 

I would also like to thank you - and every other skin creator in the community -,  for spending  dozens (probably hundred+ right? :D) of hours of your time creating new skins which makes our FM experience even better. :applause:

 

As a final addendum, I have been playing the FM series since the 90s (CM days), and FM23 was the first version I "skipped" because I felt the game haven't been changing/improving all that much over the past few years. I recently found out/saw yours and GIMN's FM23 skins for the first time, and the way you guys changed how a player's attributes are displayed is so different that it makes it feel kind of like a new game. Because of it I decided to take FM23 for a first (and last) spin right now before FM24 release.

@Ikthop I love this kind of feedback! Thanks for a) using my skin and b) being so thoughtful and offering constructive ideas to make this better! I'll go through some of your points. Just as a contextual bit - I'm working off the idea of three main panels for the players: performance, attributes and stats. The landing page now looks like this:

I've actually moved that from the performance area, and it's now inside the Transfer Status hidden area:

An extra click and it doesn't work right now but it's there on all areas for the player.

Yep. It was there because it differentiated between human and AI profile, which I'm now moving away from. Feels like a good opportunity to get the value shown again:

It's not lined up properly and then will need to lead to a hidden box with extra stuff in - including maybe a bio and career stats, but that is what your idea looks like in my head:
