Gibraltar only situation

The pool with GIB players is very short . Sometimes a good Spanish or English player that plays 730 days in Gibraltar can get GIB as second nationality. Most of the Spanish lads aren't doing that , realistic. But two Foreign players did :

Lee is a Sheff Wed youth product, starting his third season and has GIB as second nationality.. i'm following him.

Rosa is playing for Europa FC , his fourth season and he is eligible for Gibraltar.

Dylan Borge YT is one of the biggest talents in Gibraltar. Already a regular player at GIB for two years and at St Joseph's since January 2021 . 
In the past he played at Europa FC and Lincoln.

He played 44 senior games, scored 17 goals. 

His attributes in January 2021 and in October 2022. 

So after almost 1.5 year at our development centre he improved most at technical and mental part.  No change in Personality or Determination.

Now he is on individual training ' Ball control' so he should or could develop more at 'First Touch ' ' Dribbling ' and 'Technique' .

At the moment he isn't playing everything , Juanfri plays the most important games but this could change in the very near future.

He improved 3.5 / 100 on the 'Technical - 4.29 / 100 on 'Mental' and 3.75 on the 'Physical' part. He improved his best role 'Advanced forward' from 51.25 to 56.88 .

I'm happy with his development and i hope that i can improve attributes like Dribbling ,passing and Decisions. His pace should improve also.

Facilities update  - Season 3

I requested to update this and after three attemps they accepted but for a lot of money. it was Adequate .

Youth Recruitment and Academy coaching was easy to update till now. I'm very happy with how fast we are improving but i don't expect any miracles.. if we get one good youngster every year it would be really good for a Gib team.

Youth Intake - Season 3 - Class of 2023

Two players above 40% , overall a weak intake.

Average determination = 9.3 . Class of 22 was 9.06 . Class of 21 was 10.1 . 

Average total attributes = 35,76 . Class of 22 was 34,7 and class of 21 was 33,5 . So this is the best class .

Barber seems ok but he is not very tall and low self belief could become a problem.  He scores 45,41 and is our best youth intake player since starting this save. I believe in Davison , he could become our best winger with his pace and dribbling and good personality. 

Only Gib players this time.

Development update - Class of 2022

March 2022:

March 2023 (one year development):

DNA average: increased 1.8

Technical average: increased 1.2

Mental average: increased 1.4

Physical average: increased 3.5

Total average: increased 2.1

This class improved in comparison with the class of 21 a lot. 

Details:

No determination changes yet. Everybody inproved overall with 'Professional' Lake and 'Fickle' Salah as best students of this class at the moment.

Conclusion : If i compare this with my first development update from Class 21, this is a big step to the right direction. I have to take a look why the determination attribute didn't change .

Very happy with the treble, finally won the cup. we have a long way to go to win the league more than Lincoln but we are on track. Twice in three seasons very strong in the Europa league, I hope we can repeat this a few more times.  The big test comes from once several 'real' players quit and we have to repeat this with regens. All players signed or still have a contract. I hope to steal a few more good regens at other clubs.

We started with beating Tirana from Albania in our Champions league qualifications. Now we need to beat Olimpija from Slovenia and they have some good players.

This is our first eleven for important games . Olivero replaces retired Nano.

Signed five regens from other clubs. I'm very excited about two.

McMahon: Very good prospect, i'll loan him out to gain experience.

Lloyd: a good AMC prospect.

Buckley: Good Determination and some good attributes for the DMC position.

Avellano: A 'real' player, signed him as third goalkeeper.

I get a lot of loan offer this pre-season .. that is a good thing ! I'm loaning some good prospects out.

I was able to sign some very good coaches for senior and youth team with good personalities.

Manager thoughts

I decided to loan the four / five youngsters who are very close to the senior team and let them make minutes at other teams at the highest level. In the coming years I will have to continue to filter through, for now I am still counting on the older (mainly Spanish) players. I am counting on Europa League groupstage again and want to get the treble in Gibraltar again. I hope that the youth intake will slightly improve this season.

Road to Europa - Season 4

We came close to third Europa League groupstage in 4 years but we couldn't beat AEK in the final leg. We'll play ECL groupstage,i'm going to try to get out of the group stage as second and play after the winter break.

Atromitos from Greece seem to have some good players. I hope i can challenge them and Ferencvaros for the second place.

Lincoln and Europa FC season 4

At the moment their reputation / season tickets / facilities aren't growing. I bought some of their best players (for free / end of the contract) at the start of the first seasons and i'm stealing their best GIB talents U17 . It seems like they managed to put together a good squad this season. maybe with the money I paid them for some talents. They do never pay transfer fees but pick up players with certain reputation and value, for free.

After six games, we are three at the top. I'm not going to spoil too much yet but in the Pepe Reyes Cup I also had a lot of trouble with Lincoln . This is a good thing , hopefully they keep evolving like this. This way I have more opposition and challenge . And one of the objectives is to raise the level of the league.

Lincoln transfers

They signed some ex Millwall, Sunderland, Leeds , Luton youth/senior team. Some of them played Championship level two seasons ago.

 

Europa FC transfers

Van Der Hart from Lech Pozan , Marriott from Derby, Magloire from Blackburn

 

I am very curious as to whether we will be able to compete with them in the future. We with only youth from Gibraltar, they with players with a history in Championship, league one, Spanish second division.

This is our best intake ! three players have + 45% at their total attributes. and some good personalities in the mix.

Average determination = 8.4 . Not good.

Nicholson 24 and Middleton 24 are our best youth intake players till now. They could become GIB international in a few years . The only downside are their determination. Middleton is our second best defender at only 15 year !

Panesar 24 could become one of our main wingers in the future and Osbourne 24 is a tall central defender with a very good personality.

Very pleased with our second treble and invincible season in a row.  We continued in ECL (second knockout) and had a very good youth intake this time. I am going to let four senior players go and promote three or four talents. I am still looking forward to it despite the domination at Gibraltar competitions. Lincoln and Europa FC strengthen them every year with free English and Spanish players of decent level so one day they will be back.

Very happy with this ! Ambition for league is to get into top 65. Gibratar national side has a long way to go.. objective is to get into the top 100 ..

AMC: Lake: woow love the attributes on this one, Passing, determination, vision, technique, he has it all! Try to retrain him as AMC

IFL: Davison: i found this the hardest position to fill in, nobody sticks out really, he has reasonable crossing if he needs it, pace and speed

FC: McMahon: was a close call with Catherall, but the finishing and personality gave him the advantage on this position

Green, Lake and McMahon are certain.  the DC and IFL are the most difficult positions . I will think about Cooper. wasn't thinking about him (but he scored very high at the DC spot in my excel).

For the IFL position i was doubting between Catherall and Davison. I'll give Lloyd a chance in the pre-season. For My Lloyd isn't an IFL because of his low Off the ball and dribbling. Pace is like u said also an issue.

Pre-season - Season 5 - 2024/2025

We started with a tricky CL qualifying match against Nordsjaelland . We were able to finish it off in extra time. Now Redbull Salzburg is next, normally we are chanceless. After that hopefully reaching EL or ECL group stage again.

First Eleven

Borge YT is our new number one striker. the other ten remains the same as last year.

This is our first eleven for other games in Gibraltar with Mcmahon as third option up front. I'll rotate Juanfri, Catherall and Mcmahon on the IFR and Fc spot. Five new youngsters : I picked Rose YT , Green YT, Lake 22, Catherall YT and McMahon YT as new options.

Our two best talents from the last class will train with the first team (i hope i can mentor their personalities and determination) but will play for U23 team.

Transfers in

Signed three new regens.

Maynard : Our second poached player from Spain. He seems a very good striker prospect.

Robertson: a young good GK prospect but unambitious.

Skelton: Good personality and some good attributes for AMC spot.

I get a lot of loan offers this pre-season(again) .. i'm loaning all my prospects +18 years old.

Staff changes

I was able to sign some very good coaches and improve our training ratings for senior and youth team . Mario Gomez, Karim Bachar ,Emerson Boyce and our former GK Chino .

Manager thoughts

I decided to integrate five talents into the a team. We'll see if they can develop. The ambition remains to win it all every year in Gibraltar and to reach as many group stages of a European tournament as possible.

A very big win in Europe!

Our win against As Roma in the first season was bigger but this feels great. They are a very big club and we... aren't ! Now we have to wait and see what we can do in the return.

 

We did it ! We have a chance against Legia (we won against them in 2021) and after this we could play the final qualification for the Champions league against Zagreb or Tel Aviv.
