I brought this a week or so, and couldn’t be happier yes only 8GB ram but it has the graphic card and decent processor. All for under £600 https://ao.com/product/k3400phkm021t-asus-laptop-blue-89888-251.aspx

Would the below run fm22 at top spec? 3d, processing speed etc? Is it a good laptop for the price?

It's very good, but this is better: https://www.box.co.uk/4Q5S2EAABU-HP-Victus-16-AMD-Ryzen-5-16GB-RAM-512GB-_3820917.html

Thanks mate, can I ask why that one is better? Ryzen 5 better than i7? Something else I'm missing?

Newer generation of Ryzen chip compared to the Intel one.

Benchmarks from https://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmark-List.2436.0.html? - this shows the Ryzen outscoring the i7 on almost everything in this case.

Can you give me examples of sites I can look at please?  I'm not familiar with what stores you have in Australia.

From the stores I have have found, everything priced at the $500 or under category aren't ones I'd be happy to recommend to anyone.

Afternoon guys, would appreciate some help.

Looking for a new laptop, £600 being max I would spend, and about £500-550 being what I would like to spend.

Would like to be able to play 3D settings FM22 on it, even if at lower settings, but with a decent framerate. Other things just includes using google docs/sheet, browsing the web, and playing some late 2000s/early 2010s games I have on my steam profile for nostaliga, but the last point doesn't matter too much.

At the moment these are the two I'm looking at - would they be able to perform the FM22 job nicely? Or do I need to look to spend a bit more money on it?

https://www.box.co.uk/81X7004FUK-Lenovo-ideaPad-3i-Intel-Core-i5-8GB-RAM-_3596973.html

https://www.box.co.uk/NX.A1FEK.006-Acer-Aspire-5-Intel-Core-i5-8GB-RAM-512G_4084924.html

Ideally would prefer to stick to my budget, so if either of these would fit the bill that would be great.

Which of these two would be better? Happy to look at other options if there are some other suggestions!

Thanks.

Both are basically the same spec in terms of the RAM and CPU. I'd go for the second as it's got a larger SSD.

It'll do a decent job. Decent CPU and should be fine for medium to high settings for the 3D match graphics.

It's OK, but for that sort of price I'd be looking for something with 16GB RAM.

https://www.box.co.uk/82L500DQUK-Lenovo-ideaPad-5-Pro-AMD-Ryzen-7-16GB-RA_3822865.html

I'd go for this. You'd need to install Windows yourself, but it's such a good deal you'd still be saving money buying Windows separately.

I bought a new laptop. I didn't buy it specifically to play FM. I'll just be using it for word processing, etc. But I was just wondering how well it would play Football Manager 2022 if I leapt back into the fray.

Bear in mind, I would play it with the lowest detail available:

HP Elitebook 830 G8

11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1145G7 @ 2.60GHz   2.61 GHz

Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics

16 GB RAM

500GB SSD

Hi,

Laptop died on me recently so looking to pick up a new one. Budget is  £500 but may be able to stretch slightly higher if it’ll make a noticeable difference. I only use 2D classic so graphics aren’t a priority. Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Edit: forgot to add UK based

Yep.  I'd buy it myself if I had the spare cash to do so lol.

Nice size screen too, great desktop replacement.

Begs the question why don't they just stick one of their OEM Windows licences in it and sell it for the £900 its worth?

Thinking of changing my laptop and wanted to know- is there anything I should be looking out for in the specs that might indicate how noisy it will be playing FM? I bought a gaming laptop about 3 years ago and it is generally good but at times it sounds like a plane is about to take off and kicks out so much heat when playing FM. If I do replace it I'd want to avoid that.

Are there any laptops around the £200 mark that would run FM?  Would only ever be used for FM, and Office 365

This does meet the mininum specs: https://www.laptopstation.co.uk/deals/lenovo-330-15arr-ryzen-12gb-120gb-fhd/

It won't be quick, but it will run the game.

If you do want to buy it, I'd suggest doing it quite quick as it's a refurb model with only one in stock.

Best thing I can suggest is looking at reviews.

Also, gaming laptops will be louder on the whole - given the amount of hardware being crammed into a laptop shell, the fans need to work harder to keep it cool.

If you want to avoid a lot of fan noise, you'll probably need to look at laptops with a CPU with an integrated GPU.  Which is fine for FM as long as you pick carefully.  Many other games will be an issue without a dedicated graphics card though, so if you do want to be playing other games you'll likely need to accept there's going to be a fair bit of fan noise.

Thanks. I literally only play FM so don't care too much re graphics card.

Roughly, how many playable leagues do you think i could get away with?

As stated, the graphic level will be the very bare minimal. I don't even care if the stadiums don't have any fans. I usually start my career with East Fife, so I wouldn't notice. :p

My current MacBook Pro died and I need a new laptop for FM.  I'm not budget sensitive, just want the best laptop possible for FM!

Do I stick with a Mac since that's what I've always had, or is there a certain PC that is a much better option?  I'm in the U.S.

As per the OP, we don't comment on that as people have different expectations of what is an acceptable speed for the processing.

It really depends on what you want.  The M1 based Macbooks are extremely capable, but you are paying the Apple premium to get them.  A Windows based machine with similar specs would definitely cost you less.

Thanks for your help!  I'm not worried about cost, just want the best graphics, processing speed, battery life, and a good sized laptop screen (15 in or larger).  if thats a macbook then thats fine, just wasnt sure if other laptops are superior in the categories i just mentioned.

Thanks again!

It definitely meets the minimum specs for the game, but the processing will likely be slower than you're used to.  You'll also need to use lower settings if you're using the 3D match engine - both are the same CPU.

You'll need to take Windows out of S mode for both in order to install Steam and FM:

Yep.  https://www.box.co.uk/GA401QE-K2002T-ASUS-ROG-Zephyrus-G14-AMD-Ryzen-9-16GB-R_3829009.html

Half the price of the equivalent Macbook Pro.  Plus it'll be excellent for other games as well.

Hi. I'm looking for a new laptop which will only really be used for FM.

I have no interest in the 3d graphics engine as I mainly use the 2d engine, just looking for the most speed/biggest database I could get for under £500 based in the UK

I've seen this https://www.currys.co.uk/products/asus-vivobook-x515ja-15.6-laptop-intel-core-i7-512-gb-ssd-silver-10234424.html

But wondering if I could get more bang for my buck.

 Cheers

Hi everyone!

Struggling to decide on a laptop so thought I’d get a few opinions.

Only want the laptop to play FM and for work stuff (word, emails).

I only want to spend about £500 but can increase slightly if it will make a massive difference. I do like to play in 3D but don’t need to load lots of leagues and would like loading time to be quick.

Was thinking this one: https://www.currys.co.uk/products/acer-swift-3-14-laptop-amd-ryzen-5-1-tb-ssd-blue-10225780.html?istCompanyId=bec25c7e-cbcd-460d-81d5-a25372d2e3d7&istFeedId=4d7eb93e-055f-499d-8ee5-1cdcc50d67d1&istItemId=pimmiimrq&istBid=tztx&srcid=198&cmpid=ppc~gg~1011 (Shopping Ads) Laptops - Generic Adaptive~1011 (PLA) Windows Laptops And Convertibles ad group~Exact~71700000016261818~&mctag=gg_goog_7904&kwid=GOOGLE&device=m&ds_kids=92700066653037320&tgtid=1011 (Shopping Ads) Laptops - Generic Adaptive&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4q6X5Y3T-AIVh67ICh2vPQtiEAQYCCABEgKYcPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#collapseFour

How well would it run the game? Are there any other options that would be better than this?

EDIT: Also saw this mentioned above for £100 more. Would it be a lot better value? https://www.currys.co.uk/products/acer-aspire-5-a51454-14-laptop-intel-core-i5-512-gb-ssd-silver-10212836.html#collapseFour

Thanks in advance and much appreciated!

if you dont want to click the link:

Intel Core i5 -1135G7, 8GB RAM, 256GB NVMEe storage, Windows 11 Home, Intel Iris Xe

Yes, it should run FM22 well.  May not manage max 3D settings at a stable frame rate, but should be good for medium to high.

Download the demo and see how you find it.  :)

Hello,

Just wondering if I could get advice or maybe any help please on a laptop that would do a job doesn't need to do the 3D match engine but if it does let me know. Budget is around £400. Terrible with the understanding of what I need apologies. Only really will be used for Football Manager, Netflix and emails.

Seen this one, but unsure. Thoughts? Thanks https://www.currys.co.uk/products/acer-aspire-3-15.6-laptop-intel-core-i5-256-gb-ssd-black-10224403.html

I wouldn't recommend it as the base clock speed is below what SI suggest.  What's your budget?
