Yeah, could be a replacement for Neumann, which is good as i was having trouble finding players that could replace him! Pitcher is helped by having the best back 4 in the world to help him, but he's still an outstanding keeper, as is shown by his performances. hamilton162
Marvin Davies looks a fantastic prospect hamilton Thanks iacovone I really hope he develops well as i've been really struggling to find a potential replacement for my best centre back Robert Neumann. It'll be a hard task to replace the German, but i reckon this lad could do as good a job as Neumann has done for me over the last few years, and that's saying something! I'm also hoping that Stead will develop to replace Vrba and that Simmonds will develop well to replace Cuellar, who are at their peak atm, but will start to drop off in a few years, just as those 2 guys will be almost fully developed. Slightly optimistic perhaps looking at Cuellar and Vrba?!

DodgeeD
As the new season begins, two important pieces of news for the Mexican Youth Project: 1) The prodigal son returns - Josue Ramos (YP2) is back where he belongs. 2) Mexico have a new boss - none of my YPs have made the step up to the national side yet but that is all set to change. GreyedOutMan
LINFIELD – SEASON 2018-19 Season Report I was drawn against Sheriff of Moldova in the First Qualifying Round of the Champions League. Not too bad. Slavia Prague, Hajduk and CFR Cluj were all possibly opponents and even CSKA (Sofia) would have been a near-impossible tie. Soon afterwards, the 2nd round gave us Domzale of Slovenia or Pelister of Macedonia, so the route to the 3rd qualifying round seemed straightforward enough. Then it only took a money-spinning tie against big team, and we’d be in the money! Or better still, an easy draw and who knows, the group phase could beckon. 6 guaranteed matches, 3 at home...that would be huge. Whilst a couple of big YP deals were being negotiated (see below), the World Cup progressed, with England thrashing the Saudis 4-1, including a hat-trick from Walcott, fast approaching 100 caps. He got 2 more against Togo in a 4-0 thrashing, including a goal from the veteran striker Wayne Rooney, in cap number 134. The 3 Lions came up against Holland in Round two, with Brazil waiting in the quarter finals already. Unfortunately there was to be no match up with the Samba Men – a goal from veteran striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar in the 3rd minute proved enough despite the sending off of the key Dutch midfield general for the Oranjemen to hold on to, and England’s World Cup was over. Brazil met Italy in the final, with Nigeria shocking Germany in the 3rd place playoff. Once again, however, back at home, I had missed a trick – Mark Miskimmon had been released on a free without my noticing. I tried in vain to sign him back but in truth, we now have better players than him. He’d managed 191 goals in 375 games over 10 years, a scoring ratio of just over one goal in every two games. Impressive. But his form had dipped in the last couple of seasons – 31 goals in two seasons, playing 80 games, was nothing like the return his talent deserved, and Axelsen was definitely the better player now. He eventually moved to Peterborough. Axelsen’s form, however, was so good that he too was soon to leave the club, in December, heading to Hammarby for a cool million. He was replaced by Burns and Gurga, who cost £250k between them, and chipped in with 34 goals in total, more than adequately replacing Axelsen. The World Cup Final was a tense affair. Brazil took the lead just before half-time but just after the hour mark, De Rossi equalised. And it stayed that way until we made it into the last 10 minutes, when centre-back Leo secured his name in the history books by nodding home a Rafael corner to win Brazil their 6th World Cup. Spain will host in 8 years’ time. Back to Linfield. The first leg against Sheriff in the Champions’ League was 0-0. We should’ve capitalised on domination for 90 minutes and a Sheriff red card. But one goal in the 2nd leg should see us through, and the 20,000 attendance was good for the club’s finances. And the second leg started well, Nelson scoring a vital away goal. Sheriff equalised about 10 minutes later, but we were still on top. It stayed 1-1 until half time. A Whoriskey penalty half way through the 2nd half more or less sealed it and we went through 2-1 on aggregate. Domzale awaited. And it was to be televised, generating more revenue for Linfield. The first leg seemed to be going just like the Sheriff match, until I took off Axelsen. Before he could make way, he knocked in a goal to the Domzale near post, and promptly walked off to rapturous applause. The game ended 1-0 and we had a huge chance to get into the 3rd round. Another bumper crowd plus TV money meant that winning the title was proving just as lucrative as I had hoped. And the draw for the next round was massive – a possible tie against Irish outfit Derry City awaited the winners! They had to get past Zilina, who had come away from Ireland with a 1-1 draw, but it was a real possibility. And less than half an hour into the 2nd leg, Whoriskey stroked home a well-earned penalty to put the tie almost beyond doubt. Axelsen, Lennon and Doyle made it very comfortable. Zilina beat Cork so it would be the Slovaks up next. Zilina proved a much sterner test. But just to be playing in the same round as my beloved Arsenal, who for some reason were playing two qualifying rounds this year, was a massive thrill. Half time saw Linfield trailing 1-0 in Slovakia. Still very much in it but struggling to make any impact. And thats the way it was after 90 minutes and 2 seconds, when substitute Melly popped up to score a vital away goal. We had a real chance again. And with goals from Fabregas, Adebayor and Veloso (2), Arsenal were almost certain to be a possible opponent in the next round, if we made it there. And of course, we’d always been knocked out of the Europa League at the 4th qualifying round stage, which was at the same time. This meant that a win would take us effectively further in Europe than we’d ever been – and in the Champions League, not the secondary Europa...and by half time it was a certainty, Linfield romping to a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Doyle, Olsson and Lennon. We didn’t have to even try in the 2nd half – foot off the gas, final score 3-0. That was the moment when I posted the wonderfully tantalising post: LINFIELD ARE IN THE GROUP PHASE OF THE CHAMPIONS’ LEAGUE!!! It netted us £4m straight away. Plus the attendance broke the record set by the Villarreal game a couple of years ago. We got a wonderful draw: Chelsea, Benfica and Villarreal – could hardly have been any better! Obviously I’d get battered six times, but financially it will be the making of Linfield. We were given odds of 5000-1 against to win the Champions’ League. But who are bookies? I’ve proved them wrong before...
GreyedOutMan
LINFIELD – SEASON 2018-19 The first game was, arguably, the toughest. Chelsea at the new Chelsea Stadium. Quite a match for Linfield! Unfortunately, Glentoran away was the game we got as preparation, which wasn’t ideal, albeit that Glens aren’t quite the force they once were. And indeed, a comfortable 3-0 win was the perfect preparation for the Blues, with three goals in the space of about 10 minutes either side of half time. Chelsea had lost 3-0 to Arsenal at the same time, so if there was ever likely to be any chance of a result against the West Londoners, this seemed like the only way it would come about. But just 25 seconds in, Guilherme opened the scoring, and Mathieu Flamini made it two after 6 minutes. Bump!. It definitely didn’t get better. The final score was Chelsea 6 Linfield 0. I was bizarrely quite happy with that. It was 5-0 at half time, and 6-0 after 47 minutes. It could have been close to 20, but we kept them at bay for the rest of the 2nd half. A historic day for Linfield, and we were not embarrassed as much as we might have been. The good domestic form continued as another win over Glentoran took us to the All-Ireland Cup Final. But shortly afterwards, another massive Champions League game came around against Benfica, and so many players were away that I had an outfielder in goal and three other players out of position, because I just didn’t have the players. We managed to hold out for the whole of the first half – quite an achievement against a team like Benfica. A red card 2 minutes into the second half made it even harder than before, but ridiculously we were 1-0 up shortly after! And we HUNG ON! Until the 90th minute when a Benfica defender diverted a cross into the goal to make it 2-0 to Linfield! A truly historic win, and I genuinely didn’t believe it was likely we’d get even one point in the whole group let alone three – and let alone a victory with a reserve side including a non-goalkeeper, the newest YP as one of the most experienced players on the park, and down to 10 men, against one of the best teams in European footballing history. WHAT A WIN!! Netted half a million quid in prize money (thanks very much, UEFA), plus close to the same amount in gate receipts as once again the Windsor Park attendance record was broken, and 20,306 fans showed up – the exact capacity of the ground. I need to get a new stadium! Who knows how many fans we could’ve had in there for that game? What’s the population of Belfast? Heck, what’s the population of Northern Ireland?! Next was the All-Ireland Cup Final against Shamrock Rovers. Relatively easy game, you might think! But we couldn’t break down Shamrock, despite half an hour of extra time, and the game went to penalties. Whoriskey, Hudson, Styles, Jones and Lee all converted their penalties successfully and another All-Ireland Cup was ours. The huge games just kept coming – the game against Villarreal was crucial – a good result and we really were in the pole position for third place in the group and a Europa League spot. Villarreal had lost to both Chelsea and Benfica, and we had beaten them once before, so it looked like we had a chance. Doyle’s leg break, Nelson’s torn hamstring and various other injuries meant our side was weakened for the trip to El Madrigal. Villarreal battered the Linfield goal for the first 20 minutes but the the Yellow Submarine had a man sent off. The game turned as we had loads of the ball, but unfortunately we were hit on the break by a sucker punch from Jozy Altidore. 1-0 Villarreal. And when exactly the same thing happened about 8 minutes later, even with the illustrious Spanish side down to ten men, you felt the game was over. As was my European adventure. The cracking win over Benfica was, quite simply, as good as it was going to get. The league was easy this season. After 25 games, we were 17 points clear of Glentoran having played two games fewer! We were scoring an average of over two goals a game, and conceding only one goal in every three. We wrapped it up in double quick time against Newry, with seven games to spare, and without losing a single game. The title win confirmed my place amongst the . The next goal was to manage 100 points, for which I’d have to also remain unbeaten all season as I could only drop two more points and still make it. We were also on a ridiculous clean sheet run: we made it eleven games without conceding before Tobermore snatched a penalty shoot-out win in the All-Irish Cup when all my decent players were away on international duty! After the split, we immediately found ourselves up against Glentoran. This was going to be the biggest test of our potential to do an Arsenal ’04 and go unbeaten all season. Stupidly, I forgot that we’d just played a weakened side for the AIC, and just decided to go with the same team again without thinking, so we went into the game with a reserve side, essentially. As it turned out, we were still the better side, and through we never managed to break the deadlock, we always looked the more likely team to do so in a 0-0 draw. Still, win all four games, I knew, and 100 points was the results. Tobermore were dispatched 4-1, and Portadown 3-0 before Portadown put an end to that dream, though not that of an unbeaten season, with a 0-0 draw at Stangmore Park. Still, 98 points, and unbeaten all season.P30, W30, D8, L0. Not bad at all!

Which means he has broken out of this forum and spread his gospel elsewhere! Long way to go to 1000 but he could well do it. A broken leg meant that this season was the first in which he didn’t make it to 40 appearances, but you’re always going to get one season like that. He’s no longer quite on course to make it to 1000 in 20 years, but he could play until he’s 38 and make 22 years, no problem. The 5 month injury was his first injury which kept him out for longer than 6 weeks, which isn’t too bad for a career already spanning 10 years. Suffered quite a few follow-up injuries, unfortunately. A season to forget, definitely. However, eventually he opted to sign on for two more years with Carlisle so it looked as if he’s stay put at least for the time being. At almost 25, he’s probably only got one more chance for a big move up the leagues... In the end, a really disappointing season, to be honest. He’s getting worse rather than better at Carlisle. That’s a HUGE transfer fee for Linfield and it means we will have no more financial problems for years to come. Unfortunately, because Saudi leagues are inactive, it means he wont get many games if at all, but hopefully he will be sold on soon (and 20% of any profit comes our way!!). Ironically, the transfer went through just hours before England v Saudi Arabia in the world cup! His first season was a bit of a disaster but his 2nd has already started and has started very well.. GreyedOutMan
LINFIELD – SEASON 2018-19 YP8: Nuno Rodrigues – Summer 2019 Update. Initial Profile 2015-16 2016-17 2017-18 2018-19 Summary Nailed down as one of the first names on the teamsheet this season, after Doyle anyway! Kept up his great record of going 500 minutes in a row so many times for Linfield. Once such clean run ensured we went into the biggest game in our history – away against Chelsea, not having conceded in almost 10 hours despite games against big European sides as well as Glentoran. I’d love to get a stat on how often he’s done it, because it seems to happen all the time. Has never quite managed to break the Linfield record for minutes without conceding but he’s got close on several occasions. Played all but two games this season. A good year, although his fantastic clean sheets ratio doesn’t really get reflected in his average rating….guess my defence is too good! GreyedOutMan
LINFIELD – SEASON 2018-19 YP9: Mark Bell – Summer 2019 Update. Initial Profile 2016-17 2017-18 2018-19 Summary Moved on after just two years. Bell moved to Livingston for £95k, but more significantly, 50% of the profit from his next transfer will come our way, and if Bell is a success, this could easily be a couple of million or more. We have a congested team at the moment and frankly there wasn’t room for both him and Nelson. It also gives me space in the team for my only £1m signing, Gary Hudson. But his first year at Livingston wasn’t a big success and in order for him to command a useful fee he will have to improve. GreyedOutMan
LINFIELD – SEASON 2018-19 I’ll now give you a summary of the various events/stats etc of the summer. **Whoriskey was the Linfield Fans’ Player of the Year **My Best XI had five YPs in it. **We broke the average attendance record for Linfield by a country mile! And finally.... … The new YP is... YP12 Stephen Tabb With the team not really lacking in any department, I felt a few extra goals couldn’t hurt, and with Doyle now properly established in the side, we have room up front for a new YP. Tabb’s initial profile. This might be my last post on here for a while as this thread seems to have really died and I’m getting into Dafuge’s challenge big time! DodgeeD
The Mexican Youth Project – Estudiantes Santander (2021/22) Another busy season in Mexico as we competed in 5 different competitions. High determination and workrate should see him develop well and good creativity and flair should result in some crowd pleasing moments. He’ll have to work on his decision making though and he has a tempremental personality, as shown by the PPM he came through with. In an attempt to sort that out, I reached a landmark moment in the Mexican Youth Project – he will be tutored by one of the club’s model professionals, none other than Josue Ramos (YP2)! This marks the first time a product of our own youth system has gone on to tutor one of the new guys.

NepentheZ
rancer, care to do a job for me? I'm going to take your word, (and Big D if he see's this) - on the people you feel should be inducted into the HoF - and then I will add them in. I can do it over the next few days, so getting this info ASAP would be great (ofc, if you don't want to do it, then don't worry )
mag man
HoF awesome I have about 5 seasons of write-up's to do but really lack time. If any of my players make HoF I will do a full write up for them. I will also have a end of game write up for Mag Man Jr. who I think will retire at the end of the season (Not sure I have time to finish it).
