I think that Plymouth job came at just the right time! It felt like you were starting to give in! New lease of life!

Thanks guys, and yes, I think you have a point, andychar. Hopefully I can have a really good season this time and win the title.

I set up what I thought was a challenging preseason, with a couple of easy games against local teams to finish off and build confidence for the new season. I certainly wasn't expecting it to go this well

and we were certainly busy in the transfer market, making 8 signings

We made a pretty decent start to the season, winning five of our first seven league games. Unusually, the league season kicked off in July, but as there was only one game, I've included it in my August review

and that was enough to end August top of the league

winning me my first Manager of the Month at Argyle

Our only defeat in November was in the cup, and 7 points out of 9 in the league was not bad. We also lost on penalties to Cambridge

and end the month still second, the gap now 7 points

but we won our Checkatrade Trophy group, and will face Exeter in the next round

An unbeaten month in the league in December, but cup disappointment against our fiercest rivals

leaves us second in the table, four clear of third place, with a home game against leaders Swindon next up. We must win to have any chance of landing the title

Would a takeover be a good thing? Financially at least.

Is Plymouth a fans club?

Well there isn't much money around the club at the moment, so it can't make it worse. Not a fan owned club as such, but owner Simon Hallett is a fan and grew up in the city. He lives in America now though.

I always like my Fullbacks/wingbacks to have a little more crossing ability...but not bad since I guess this is why you were shipping goals in January.

(I often retrain wide midfielders and defensive wingers)

Shocking Loss to GRIMSBY!

The first leg of the semi final was a belter. We held a two goal lead on two occasions

625657390_POSF12023.thumb.PNG.460be12985fb7c8e8ff245755f9dc6ce.PNG

but would that be enough? Could we see the job through at Home Park? The second leg was an even better game

1563184703_POSF22023.thumb.PNG.93b0a87b8d40bb6e22c53f8b0e2b45c1.PNG

and we're through to Wembley, one win from promotion

That was a mental end - goals 88, 89, 90+1, 90+3 and a missed pen in 90+3!

Congratulations on Promotion!

Is the squad ready for League One?  I always find it the hardest to win and the easiest to get relegated from, because a lot of teams loan quality players with lots of flair and Deadball skills.

I'm trying to bring in some players now, will post transfers with my preseason update later
