That Orsolic is a great signing for you . Looking good ahead of the second leg - brilliant work to keep them from scoring! Are Barca as good as they used to be?

Barca are weaker than RL as I only have the English Leagues loaded. In the simulated La Liga they have won 15 of the 31 titles and been runners up on the other 16 occasions. In the Champions League they haven't got past the QF in 11 years and have never made the final. They have won two of the last eight Europa Leagues though.

In the Club Coefficients they are ranked 11th with City and Untied in the top three.

Epic win over Barcelona. Hope you don't throw it away in 2nd leg!

Sad to see you're sliding down the table :(

Second leg is done and dusted. . .

We have been awful from the turn of the year, top six is looking very doubtful now.

Premier League 2044/45

April

cam-res-apr45_zps68063ce7.png

At last a bit of form. Started April with defeat at Palace but that was to be expected with it coming in between the two Barcelona games so key players were rested. Out of nowhere Fulham were dispatched with total ease before struggling Cardiff beat us at home with two second half headers. Ended April with two wins over Sheff United and Forest with the second win seeing Llorente score twice playing upfront for the first time.

cam-tab-apr45_zps22a8215d.png

Aston Villa and Stoke to come, surely we can get enough points to finish in the top 7.

Europa League Quarter Final 2nd Leg

cam-el1-apr45_zpsfd02800c.png

We have scrapped into the Semi Final. A goal behind after just six minutes the Spanish giants had TWO goals ruled out before Mr Cambridge popped up at the death to keep up our unbeaten run.

cam-eldraw-apr45_zpsdac9be4d.png

Yet another Spanish side await.

Europa League Semi Final 1st Leg

cam-sf1-apr45_zps1224eafd.png

One hell of a first leg and despite being 3-0 and 5-1 down we are somehow in with a shot of the final still. We really need a clean sheet if we are to reach the Aviva Stadium in May though.

Europa League Semi Final 2nd Leg

cam-sf2-apr45_zps3c893dbe.png

We have done it! After falling behind two first half goals gave us hope but then a penalty from Hughes in the second half puts us in the Final on away goals!!

cam-eldraw-april45_zps77220bb2.png

A fourth Spanish side in a row.

Happy with a four point haul from the two games this month that gets us back into the Europa League next term.

Could have been better in the league but sixth isn't too shabby. Shame we couldn't end the season with a trophy.

Premier League 2043/44

End of Season

Premier League

6th is never a bad finish but it could and should have been much better.

FA Cup

A 5th round defeat for the 4th year running. Beaten away to PL side Wycombe.

Capital One Cup

Lost in the 3rd Round for again a 4th straight year. Beaten 1-0 away to Cardiff.

Europa League

An amazing season saw us win all six group matches then beat off Shakhtar, Athletic, Barcelona and Sevilla before losing the Final to Valencia.

Finances

£30m in the bank with early season budgets of £1.3m for wages and £37.5m for transfers

Squad

Looking to ditch three players this summer. Defender Kinsella is set to leave after nine seasons with us along with defender Jakub Grembocki whose two seasons here hasn't really worked out. January signing Dani is moaning about a lack of game so will be looking to either loan him out to get some games to cash in on our £775k signing. Will be scouring the world for a new centre back and then there is the decision as to what to do with my mis-firing forward line. Barahona struck 13 last season but is not consistant enough, Ramirez struggled after recovering from a broken foot scoring just twice in sixteen games while Charly Jean has proved injury prone. Will have Simon Hope and ??? leading the line next year.

Capital One Cup: Not important

Transfers

cam-trans-jul45_zpsbb77d292.png

Broke our transfer record twice this summer bringing in a defender and a striker. A very quiet summer in terms of players leaving with just defenders Grembocki and Kinsella moving on then the rest in youngsters leaving for first team experience.

Helio - Young Brazilian defender joins from France for a big fee but I expect him to be around for years to come. Sadly is out for the first two months of the season injured though.

Andreas Emil Kristiansen - Club record signing joins from PL rivals Tottenham after scoring 30 goals in the last two PL campaigns. Unusually he is 28 which is a lot older than I normally go for but after last seasons failings I felt experience was needed.

Pity you couldn't quite do it in the Europa League, but epic run, especially that semi.

Was a great run, no complaints at all. I do feel like I need to win a trophy now though, not even been close domestically for 9 seasons.

As for Wycombe - no tycoon at all. They have been taken over three times, once in 2015 with a Consortium, same again when former Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony in 2032 and then they have just been taken over by another Consortium in January.

They had just been promoted to League One when the first takeover took place while the second came after a 2nd successive 16th placed Championship finish. Maybe a club sticking with a manager is the way forward as Gareth Ainsworth was in charge from the start until 2037 when he retired from management.

They won League Two in 2015 then finished 17th and 13th in League One before finishing 2nd in 2018. Nine years in the Championship followed before they won the play offs but lasted just a year in the PL, finishing 19th. Struggled a bit back in the Championship with 10th and two 16th placed finishes before losing in the play offs in 2033. The next year they went up as runners up and have been in the PL ever since. It hasn't all been easy with 3 17th placed finishes and a 16th placed. The last three seasons has been 11th, 11th and 9th with this year looking to be the best yet.

In the FA Cup they have lost in four semi-finals and one final while the Capital One Cup has seen one semi final defeat before this seasons cup victory. In the only European adventure they lost to Valencia in the Europa League Quarter Final in 2042.

In terms of transfers they spent roughly what they brought in through sales for much of the first 20 seasons, only now spending a bit more as they are settled in the PL. In July 2044 they spent a record £7m on a player (that comes days after bringing in a record £8.75m for a player) and only once before that had they spent over £5m on a players.

Thanks for sharing, I'd actually love to drop in and manage them.

Great effort in the Europa league - fingers crossed that the new signings bring you some success!

Here's hoping. Been a tricky start though...

Massive increase in sponsorship.

Great run in the Europa League. Spain finally got the better of you.

You play faster than I can keep up.

Not sure I was quite ready to bring down a whole country, maybe this season!

Premier League 2045/46

August and September

cam-res-aug45_zps77dc3445.png

A tough start saw Manchester United ease to three points and Cardiff were heading the same way as we fought back from 3-1 down to get a point.

cam-res-sep45_zpsad9c40d8.png

A slightly better month got off to a perfect start beating Sheff Utd then getting a deserved point against Forest despite the goal coming very late. We were given a lesson in finishing against Spurs who have had a crazy season so far featuring in 5-1, 5-1, 5-0 and 4-0 wins along with 4-0, 5-1 and 3-1 defeats.

cam-tab-sep45_zpsea00f0e1.png

Three points in the Monday Night fixture over Blackburn and things will look much better.

Capital One Cup

cam-cup-sep45_zpsc690504f.png

Yet again out in the 3rd Round, losing 6-5 on penalties. Came from behind to lead but Burton struck with six minutes left to force extra time. We had a goal ruled out in the 111th minute before the match was settled on spot kicks.

Europa League Play Off

October

cam-res-oct45_zps65f25b51.png

A better month but still showing the inconsistency that had dogged many of our seasons. A brace from sub Kristiansen saw off Blackburn before Liverpool picked up an easy three points, scoring at the start and end of the match. A good showing at Wycombe lacked finishing that has cost us two points then came the thriller against Chelsea. Twice in front we looked to have blew the chance of winning when Chelsea scored with eight minutes left. But once again it was a sub that struck the winner, in the 91st minute.

November

cam-res-nov45_zps87b58969.png

Despite winning just one game I am pretty pleased with the month. Tough matches against Man City and Arsenal yielded just a point but I don't know how to react to it. We were dominated in both matches so on that count we deserved to lose but the City winner came just four minutes from time so I can't help but feel we lost a point. Arsenal were all over us until a red card on the hour and for the last thirty minutes we came alive and had two really good chances to win. After those results we knew we needed three points against Burton and that was delivered thanks to a brilliant second half showing.

cam-tab-nov45_zps00e97337.png

Stuck in mid table but the next six matches are against sides in the bottom ten, including the bottom three. A good month here and our season can really on.

Europa League

cam-el-nov45_zpsff792bd6.png

Coasted past TNS to qualify we played a mainly second string in the draw in Greece.

Transfers Out

With a change in formation this month I have gone to playing one up front meaning we have a surplus of strikers. Charly Jean was the lucky man to be shown the door and has agreed a £15m deal to join Juventus in January.

December

cam-res-dec45_zps95643af1.png

A terrible start to December was quickly forgotten with five straight wins. 19th placed Crystal Palace put on a great counter attacking performance to beat us, scoring with one of only two efforts on goal before we took out our frustration on bottom club Huddersfield. Another win followed at Hull where we had to stay strong in the last half an hour as the home side mounted a come back. A forgettable game at Stoke had very few good chances for either side, the only piece of quality was a long range effort from Kenny early on. West Ham looked on for three points, leading 1-0 at the break and giving us little but three subs on the 55th minute changed the game with both wingers and the lone frontman sacrificed and it was sub striker Ramirez who scored twice to give us a massive three points. The year ended with a changed side beating struggling Fulham with two first half goals.

cam-tab-dec45_zps6c921165.png

Flew up the table but with Manchester Untied away next up that could change.

Europa League 1st Knockout Round Draw

cam-eldraw-dec45_zps31ab6ae1.png

Delighted with the draw. Could have drawn Valencia, AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Dortmund or Barcelona.

Transfers Out

Yet again a striker is on the move. With Kristiansen and Ramirez being my first two picks for the lone frontman role that leaves Hope and Barahona. So when PSG offered a whopping £30m for Barahona it was a no brainer. The £15.25m signing leaves for almost double the money after 13 PL goals in 45 games. Good business from us.

January

cam-res-jan46_zpse5987887.png

Another slow start to a month but that was quickly turned around. Manchester United were just awesome and blew us apart, two up inside 20 minutes. Sheff Utd away was a tricky match with us falling behind early from a penalty but a second half strike from winger Llorente evened things up. Three good wins followed with us scoring 12 goals in the process. Cardiff had no answer to our firepower then the game of the season against Forest produced a 4-3 thriller. A goal up after 4 mins by the 13th minute we were behind. Ramirez scored the first of his three I the 16th minute before his 2nd just before the break gave us a 3-2 lead. Forest levelled the game just after the restart but Ramirez completed a deserved hatrick with 16 minutes left. The month ended with struggling Blackburn dispatched thanks to three first half goals and the result was secured with a late penalty.

cam-tab-jan46_zpscd32ffc8.png

Looking good for another top 5 finish although the next bunch of fixtures are tough. Spurs, Liverpool, Wycombe, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City, Southampton, Burton and Southampton coming in the next two months. That is 7 of the current top 10 and struggling Burton. Along with that we have the Europa League match and a trip to a current top four side in the FA Cup.

FA Cup

cam-fac-jan46_zps7dda9233.png

Two PL sides have been seen off at home but the regulation 5th Round exit looks set to continue as we were drawn away to Manchester United.

Transfers

With Barahona and Jean leaving and swelling the coffers to the tune of £45m I spent just short of £10m on a new CM.

Paulo Filipe - The 24 year old joins from Sporting and has made an instant impact. Four starts and three goals is exactly what I am looking for from a CM that hasn't scored many at all this season.

A couple of good results this month the worryingly is the two beatings. Fell behind to an own goal by Helio after three minutes against Spurs but roared back in style to lead 3-1 after just 15 minutes. Two minutes later the scoring for the day was finished and we held on for a good win. Liverpool battered us and how it stayed just 2-0 is above and beyond me. Three much needed points were picked up against Wycombe before Chelsea gave us another kicking to end the month on a low point.

April

cam-res-apr46_zps3874ab77.png

This is a bit more like it. Just one defeat this month at home to Southampton. Things started off poor with only a point against Huddersfield and then drawing with Crystal Palace. After the Southampton defeat we managed to pick up our first league win in 8 games and relegate Stoke in the process. Had confidence going into the home match with Man City given there failure to win a PL game at our place for about 9 years and that run continued with a 2-2 draw. Finally Hull City were put away easily in what was 7th vs 8th so it was important to win that one. Two games to go and plenty to play for.

Europa League Quarter Final

cam-el-apr46_zps7aa9a674.png

A decent draw at home in the first leg but things were looking over in the return leg. 2-0 down after half an hour then 3-1 down before the break we had a bit of a mountain to climb. We got half way there with a header from Ramirez and then with three minutes left who else but Jim Woodward had a goal disallowed, a goal that would have sent us into a semi final with Dortmund.

Not the final two games we needed given how important finishing 5th is to 6th and 6th to 7th. Thoroughly deserved to lose at West Ham, we were very poor going forward but the draw with Fulham was most annoying. We played the better football, had the only chances, hit the woodwork three times but all to no avail. We just couldn't score.

cam-tab-may46_zps7ccabe46.png

Given our poor league form, winning just two of the final twelve games I am delighted with 6th place.

Cambridge United Football Club

Premier League 2045/46

End of Season

Premier League

Successive 6th placed finishes now. Should have been at least fifth but we fell away badly in the last few months.

FA Cup

Have a guess.

Capital One Cup

As above.

Europa League

Another good run in Europe ended with Barcelona gaining revenge in the Quarter Finals, going down 4-3 on agg.

Finances

Biggest transfer budget ever with £46m available. Just under £40m in the bank with annual sponsorship coming in at £21.5m we pay out £1.7m a year in bank loans.

Squad

Well first up will be deciding on a formation. Switched from two up top to just one so if I stick with that I am happy with the frontline but if I revert back at least one striker will have to come in. Jim Woodward needs to be replaced as does right back Carpenter who will leave when his contract expires. Defenders McCabe and Dormer are players I am looking to offload but if they stay it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

Hopefully in another ten years a new stadium will be named after him. My favourite FM player ever. FACT.

Now that's put a question in my brain as to who mine is... There goes ten minutes :D

Pre Season

Expectations

Premier League: Qualify for Europa League

Europa League: 2nd Knockout Stage

FA Cup: Quarter Final

Capital One Cup: Not important

Transfers

cam-trans-jul46_zps0103c0dd.png

Ins

Abraham - Another recruit from Betis this man has the pressure of replacing Woodward. Expected to improve and once settled should challenge Llorente.

Philip Thomas - Unhappy at Spurs the young centre back was snapped up quickly. My Chief Scout expects him to become a leading PL defender.

Mikel Marin - Another CB who is expected to be a star. Will be looking to give Marin and Thomas regular game time to improve.

Mark Kuffour - New back up right back can also play at CB. A cheap and cheerful replacement to Carpenter as I missed out on my three top targets.

Outs

Two big sales with Dormer and McCabe moving on. Other than that there is no surprises to the players leaving Cambridge.

Europa League Draw

As 10 years ago our play off tie is against Jablonec from the Czech Republic. We won 5-4 on agg back in 2036.

August

A good win at Burton kicked off the new campaign but things went sour quickly against Fulham. Two down at the break we got one back before former loanee Bettoni sealed the win for Fulham. A tough September to come with trips to Chelsea and Man City then hosting Man Utd.

Europa League Play Off

cam-el-aug46_zps551dc546.png

Midfield duo Filipe and Orsolic did the damage in the first leg then a much changed side held out for a draw in the return leg.

cam-eltab-aug46_zps92942911.png

Another nice draw that has seen PAOK in our group for a 2nd year running. Expect to top the group with ease as the last two years.

Very unexpected for the young lad. Still not established in my first team he played 39 minutes against Uruguay which saw Gareth Rowe score the only goal and Korey Bray pick up his 69th cap. Would never have thought three youth products would feature in the same England team.

September

cam-res-sep46_zpsb07db14c.png

A very poor start to the month saw us hammered at Chelsea, amazingly the only points they have picked up this season. At Manchester City we were tremendous and were just three minutes from victory when the home side levelled. Another good point over the second Manchester side was secured with Ramirez scoring from our only effort on target.

cam-tab-sep46_zpsbf67a788.png

Win our game in hand an we are just three points off a top four place. Lose and the season looks a whole lot worse.

Capital One Cup

cam-cup-sep46_zps654dd8df.png

Yet another 3rd Round exit, this is becoming a joke. We led 2-0 at the break but the Championship side came back to win the tie.

Europa League

cam-el-sep46_zps818afc03.png

Something to cheer at last. A fast start saw us two up early on and a third was added from the spot before the Croatian's grabbed a late consolation. Ideal result in the other game in Group F puts us in early control of the group.

cam-eltab-sep46_zps30830c4b.png

Just noticed that this was our 25th Europa League Group match and we have yet to lose one.

Another really good season and another crack at Europe.

TNS in the group stage.

Stoke relegated. :(

Another decent year, not sure what I need to do to get closer to the top four though, Arsenal have rebuilt well and after a couple of poor seasons are amazing.

That is the first time TNS have managed to reach the group stage of either European competition.

Ah Stoke, they have been down before but came back quickly. Relegated in 2015 came back up two seasons later as champions, down again in 2025 but straight up after winning the play offs. Finished as high as 5th in the 2037/38 season, twice FA Cup runners up and three time losing semi finalist. Also Capital One Cup semi finalists twice.
