Dabic is a natural defensive midfielder and accomplished in the other two. Wang has been called up to the Norway A-squad now as well. At 18 that's quite impressive for a Norwegian. Usually people have to play on U21s until they're 22+ no matter how good they are here. :p

3rd in Liga Sagres (pred: 8th) | Graph | Transfers | Finances

The League (Team stats | Corner | IFK | DFK | Player stats)

I continued my strategy of starting every match with a defensive mentality, and it seems to be working most of the time. We went 18 games without losing, before Benfinca finally beat us at their ground. At that point we where top of the table with Sporting CP just a point behind. We slipped up towards the end though as we had to play Porto, Sporting CP and Braga away in the last 6 games of the season. Before the last game of the season we were 2 points Benfica and Sporting CP. We had to play Sporting CP away though and lost 4-1. We simply can't beat them away.

The main reason we couldn't go all the way is our home form. I'm really annoyed with this. We have a better away record than home record. Even though we lost against most of the "top teams" away. For some reason we just can't finish teams off at home. If we play bad we win, if we play well we don't. These games against Trofense and Nacional de Madeira show what I mean. We should have won both of those. Instead we win games like this one against Leixoes were we don't deserve it at all.

Anyways, we finished 3rd, which is a lot more than I hoped for. This means we'll play in the qualifiers for the Champions Cup next season, I think.

We're also finally scoring on set pieces, much thanks to the aerial ability of new defender David Sousa.

The Cups (League | Portuguese)

Same as last year really, don't wanna talk about it.

The European Adventure (Fixtures)

As I mentioned in the pre-season update we barely got to the group stages after playing horrible at home and winning away in both qualifying matches. Sound familiar? We entered the group stages in Group J together with Tottenham (ENG), Udinese (ITA), and CFR Cluj (ROM). I was hoping to maybe get results against Cluj if anyone. But obviously I should just stop trying to predicit anything at all.

Euro Cup Grp J (Table)

Tottenham	H	3-2	Cakin, Arias, Galkin
Udinese A	2-0	Alberto, Lebedev
CFR Cluj	A	0-1
CFR Cluj	H	0-1
Tottenham	A	2-2	Arias x2
Udinese A	2-2	Lebedev

So, it turned out to be a bit of a group of death in the end, with 3 teams finishing at 8 points. I think we deserved our win against Tottenham, but we were incredibly lucky to get anything in Italy. The games against Cluj were weird. Evenly played, but they just created bigger chances and took them. The game in England we were super lucky again, they even missed a penalty. I think we deserved at least a draw in the last game against Udinese though.

EURO Cup 1st Knockout Round

Man City	H	2-1	Arias, Wang
Man City	A	2-1	Wang, Arias

Did I mention that we seem to have some sort of lucky star watching over us against good teams? We didn't deserve to win either of these games. Wang finally decided to show up in Europe though. Just at the right time to. Both these results are probably our biggest upsets so far.

EURO Cup 2nd Knockout Round

Feyenord	H	0-0
Feyenord	A	2-1	Gross, Sousa

What can I say? Again we're below average at home and lethal away. Both games could have gone either way.

EURO Cup Quarter Final

Chelsea A	1-2	Arias
Chelsea H	1-4	Arias

When we took the lead at Stamford Bridge after 10 minutes I thought maybe we were in for another of those crazy lucky results. It took Chelsea 80 minutes to get a goal. Loic Remy came on and scored twice in 1 minute (80' and 81'). Still, it was a good result, I was expecting us to be hammered. Instead that happened at home. It could have been much more than 4-1, but Alexis Sanchez and Giacomo Beretta stopped after scoring 4 in the first 50 minutes.

So that was the end of our adventure. It was a much longer one that I had expected. We could very well have gone out before the group stages. Very happy with our performance.

The Players (Stats)

Lets start with the attack. Playing 3 strikers up front was definitely fun as we scored more goals than anyone else in the league, and beat our own goal scoring record by 18 goals. All 6 strikers provided goals, but there's no doubt that Arias, Lebedev, Wang and Gross were the best of the bunch. Wang took a while to get going, and was pretty average in Europe. But in the league he eventually found great form and earned the Player of the Year award. Interestingly Emilio Arias got the Young Player of the Year award, even though he's 4 years older than Wang. Not sure what to make of that. Lebedev was runner up in the same award.

The other big star of the season was David Sousa in defense. He picked up the Central Defender of the Year award, and provided the team with 11 goals from set pieces.

Others worth a mention are Alberto De la Rosa and Ergün Cakin who both had good first seasons in midfield. Vuk Dabic was probably the biggest disappointment, but he was playing in the DMC role, which is one I just can't get to play well no matter how I set it up.

You can probably see from the stats that I tried to rotate and use all players this year. Not sure if it was a good idea as we lost a few matches we might have won with a full strength side. But at least most of the squad are happy. The ones that aren't want to move to a bigger club or have trouble settling in.

The Finances

Same as last year. Player sales keeping us on the right side of zero. Average attendance went up slightly to 4,486.

The Future

You may have noticed from the finances that we have a £30M bank loan all of a sudden. Those that looked even closer would have noticed that we also have a 10 year stadium sponsorship. And by now most of you probably figured out that we are getting a new stadium. Anadia Stadium will be ready in one years time and will give us a capacity of 23,067. Quite an improvement of the 5,000 we have now. We were also named the most improved club.

We have a few players that want to move to bigger clubs. Pavel Gross have requested a transfer already. Patrick Wang is happy playing for us, but there's 9 clubs "interested" at the moment, and managers of Schalke and Rubin have commented on him. There is no way I'm selling him though, unless the board force me or we get a really crazy bid.

Cheers people, just lost the game that was intended to be my last on FM10 so thought I might as well have a go at this challenge.

I have never played on any FM with attribute masking on, what is the best way to scout players? Send the scouts to competitions or nations?

Link to post

Everyone has different ways of scouting I guess. I have several strategies.

1. Normal scouting. I just send scouts to the biggest nations first. Then when we get big enough to scout the whole world I got a few set to scout the biggest regions. Some to U19s and big competitions. And some I keep sending to nations. I usually pick nations by going into the "World->Nations->World" and sorting by world ranking. I try to scout as many of the top nations as possible all the time. I also try to start a new scouting trip in all the biggest nations around 1st of July, cause a lot of new regens have come through by then.

2. Player search. Obviously you can't find all players in here as only the "well-known", "regional" and "scouted" players show up. But I usually search for players with my filter set to "determination > 12". Then I go through them on by one and ask for scout reports on anyone that look interesting. In the start I also set "value = £0" to find only free transfers. I like "determination" because it usually means they will develop faster.

3. Go through teams or nations manually. I don't go through teams very often, only at the start of each season when new regens come through. I check the U23-U19 squads of most big nations often though. Anyone that has no club or a low value I ask for scout reports on. The players with highest potential tend to show up in one of the national squads, so it's a good way to find talent.

4. Get those free-transfers while they are hot. In January each season I go to Player Search and set the filter so that players with less than 6 months left on their contract show up. I also add a "wage-limit" based on what I can give them at most. I do not as my assistant to filter out unrealistic targets, cause he's usually wrong. Players usually want higher wages. I then change the "view" to "Scout - Main" and sort by potential, and start offering contracts to anyone that look decent. All the players your scouts have found during their trips should show up here now. Finally I sort the players by "value" and start scouting those with high value that my scouts have yet to pick up.

As for the scouts I look for those that have high Judging Player Ability, Judging Player Potential, and Determination. I'm not sure Determination does much, but I read somewhere a long time ago that it makes the scout faster. No idea if it's true though.

As for the scout reports. I look for players with potential to be good -> leading stars. Atm that's 3-5 stars for me. I have yet to see one with 5 stars in this save though. I also check their personality, but before I'm a top-club in the nation I'm playing I don't bother to much about it. If a player has a "professional" mentality that's a huge plus though. You can also usually see if a player is going to be injured a lot or be inconsistent.

Renato Curi Angolana - Serie B - Christmas 2021

The Summer

After the ridiculous cup exit, the season got off to a depressingly similar start to last year - an embarrassing home draw followed by 2 away defeats. Thankfully 2 straight 2-0 wins got us back on track before we suffered the same score against us at Arezzo. 2 easy home wins against average opponents and we were midtable. We then visited leaders Chievo and totally fluked an undeserved 1-1 draw. Frosinone were easily dismissed before Padova and their ridiculously good strikeforce (30 goals so far in 18 games) visited. And their ridiculously good strikeforce was on form, 3 goals between them put them 3-1 up with 20 minutes to go. It then got a bit crazy. I made 3 subs, one of which was Puccinelli, my 2nd on-loan ST. Within 10 minutes he had scored 1, had another controversially ruled out and then equalised. And then in the 92nd minute his glorious thru-ball gave Bach the chance to give us a very unlikely win. And he did not get the MoM award!

I gave Puccinelli a start in the next match and a goal and an assist put us 2-1 up at a very good Torino side. We held this lead until the 94th minute when they got a freekick right on the edge of the box. A freekick that flew into the top corner :(. Something evidently happened to my strikers during the next week as they were ridiculously bad at home to Siena - 16 shots and not on target . Siena had a couple, one of which went in. Goodbye unbeaten home record. They were off-form at Sampdoria as well, only 4 shots but none on target either, Sampdoria got 2 past Aílton.

We struggled past newly promoted Perugia before we finally found some form, thrashing Virtus Lanciano 4-1 on TV, Loos grabbing his 1st 2 goals of the season. A 0-0 draw at Ravenna is normally a more or less acceptable result, but not when playing against 10 men for an hour and having 17 shots on goal (3 on target ). We got off to a flyer at home to AlbinoLeffe but they suddenly and unexpectedly scored a couple and actually were still 2-1 on the hour mark. We got a penalty and then went on the rampage, winning 5-2 - Puccinelli grabbing a hat-trick. That left one game before the break and it was not an easy one, away at relegated Parma who were also the leaders. It was quite a match, 2 Puccinelli stunners were sandwiched between 2 outrageous Parma freekicks and it ended 2-2.

So we are in 7th place, but only 4 points behind the leader. Really can't be unhappy with that, we are right in the mix. And we are in form as well, 5 games unbeaten and only those 2 goalless (and shots-on-targetless) defeats in the last 13 games. What has mainly happened is that I have realised that Puccinelli (the 2nd on-loan ST) is quite frankly brilliant, 8(5) games and 12 goals so far. I wish I had worked this out earlier. Him and Diego have created a pretty good partnership. As for the other signings, Georgiev has been pretty good, Guerrero not bad, Bach has had his moments whilst Charlier (the 1st on-loan ST) is just coming back to fitness. Apart from the on-loan Turkish DR the rest have not played a huge amount. My main worry was at ML and although Coulibaly started brilliantly he has had more moans about leaving etc. and is seriously getting on my nerves, thankfully Fiorentini is back from injury.

At least the playoffs has to be the aim.

Players (ratings)

A Youth Project

 • In January I decided to begin a youth project, and started going through the top 100 national teams of the world scouting anyone aged 18 and below.
 • We brought in 11 players in January and have another bunch coming this summer. So far the youth team looks like this. Our assistant is not as good as our scouts at judging potential, but all new signings have 2,5+ stars according to the scouts.
 • The biggest prospect so far is Nikolay Mladenov, who has potential to be a leading star, but several others have potential to be good players to.
 • The goal is to eventually have at least some home grown players in the first team squad.

Status Quo

 • Our balance looks ok, but would be £5M worse without that huge sale in January. Average attendance went up a bit to 4,523
 • We are moving into the brand new Anadia Stadium in less than a month. That'll give us a max. attendance of 23,067.
 • We're the 4th richest club in Portugal, but still £40-50M behind the top 3.
 • In Europe we are now ranked as #85 after two good seasons in the EURO Cup.

2010-2011 Season Review-Casa Pia-Portuguese Second Division-South

I just wanted to avoid relegation this season even though the board wanted a top half finish. The first half of the season I tried to play with one up front and keep it tight but I was conceding quite a few goals so I decided to try and score more than them even if it that meant scoring 6. The new formation worked perfectly and in the second half of the season I created chance after chance just couldn't finish that many. I recall having a game with 11 CCC's and only scoring twice. We managed to secure a decent 6th position which I want to improve on next season and push for promotion.

SVW Mannheim - Bundesliga - Season 2013-14

Season Preview (in the style of a magazine season preview)

World_Soccer.jpg

Following last seasons surprise promotion from Bundesliga II, little Mannheim find themselves facing Bayern, Hamburg, Schalke et al in the top division. It was a fairytale rise for the small german club and one that neither their fans or probably their manager expected. Manager Richard Lipscombe, an Englishman following in the footsteps of Steve Mclaren in managing in Germany could surely not have expected to have led the club to promotion in two of the last three seasons. As such, most pundits fancy Mannheim to really struggle in the Bundesliga and most are tipping them for an immediate return to Bundesliga II.

They have however embarked on a heavy transfer policy this summer and many players have arrived in order to help mannheim survive in the top flight. We spoke to the Manager and asked him for a bit of a lowdown on the new arrivals...

Simon Pouplin - i feel that goalkeeper is an area we need to strengthen hence the arrival of Simon. He has good experience of the German game and he'll challenge Batista hard in the race for the goakeepers jersey.

Aaron Adams - I decided to sign this 19 year-old South African international based on the work of my scout who thinks he could be a leading Bundesliga player. I think the £1.5 million it cost to bring him here from Levski could well be a bargain.

Miso Brecko - Another with plenty of German experience, Miso will add cover to our RB options.

Bobby Boswell - I had to fight off plenty of clubs to sign Bobby on a free transfer from Anderlecht. Bobby has plenty of experience of european football and this should prove invaluable to us this season.

Francisco Jose Gordillo - 'Cisco has bags of potential and he was too good a player to miss out on. His lack of experience may hinder his chances a little this season but he has the potential to be a star for this club.

Jonas Troest - Jonas has joined us on loan from rivals Bochum for the season as he wasn't getting much of an opportunity there. he will add plenty of depth to our defensive options.

Baek Ji-Hoon - i like the look of Baek and that's why he has joined on a season long loan from Strasbourg. He's a solid alround midfielder and he will compete with Ekiz for a starting berth

Tim Borowski - It was a coup for us to sign the experienced German. He may be 33 but his experience should prove invaluable to us this season.

Nikola Mutafov - Nikola has bags of potential and should push Ziganda hard in the battle for the AML position. Another potential star of the future.

Wilfried Dalmat - i was somewhat concerned by our options down the right flank and because of this i've brought Wilfried in on a season-long loan.

Carlos Miranda - Carlos was a bit of an impulse buy but when you look at his potential it was a no-brainer. £350k was an offer too good to refuse and i had to sign him up.

Juan Roman RIquelme - Riquelme is 35 now and probably past his best but his experience could be crucial. it wasn't much of a sacrifice on wages as his pay is heavily based on appearances so it was almost a case of nothing to lose.

Vladimir Krastev - Young Vlad is still only 17 but his ability far outweighs his inexperience. £600k is an absolute steal and i think Vladimir could well become one of Europe's top strikers.

Christian Benteke - Prolific Belgian youth international, i've signed Christian as he has lots of potential. If he hits the ground running he could be our first choice striker.

Victor Anichebe - I offered Victor a contract after he performed well in pre-season. Unlikely to be a regular starter, he may be a impact player off the bench.

Overall, i have spent £5.75 million on transfers this summer as i work on building a squad good enough for the top division. Due to the tight financial situation, i have had to recoup money hence the departures of a number of players. i decided to sacrifice Stephen Sama due to his poor performances last season, in addition to his attitude which i found quite poor. I also had to let Maxim Skavysh leave for £2.5 million in order to let me improve our attacking options.

Overall i'm pretty happy with the squad i've got. Pre-season went pretty well but this form counts for nothing when you reach the proper test of league football. I'm a little concerned in our lack of experience but we'll give it a great go. Facing teams like Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund is something that our fans could only dream about a few years ago but now it's reality. i want our fans to go out and enjoy every game and enjoy the ride. I'd love to promise you that we'll survive but we have to be realistic. this is going to be a hard season. As long as you support us we've as good a chance as any."

So, Mannheims' manager seems pretty confident in their chances. It will remain to be seen whether this plucky little outfit are ready for the daunting prospect that is Bundesliga football.

rlipscombe - I reckon you can stay up with those new signings. Krastev looks like he can become a legend. Good luck!

cheers. unfortunately after 8 games we are 0-4-4 and haven't even scored as yet... defensively we're not too bad, we just need to score goals...

cheers. unfortunately after 8 games we are 0-4-4 and haven't even scored as yet... defensively we're not too bad, we just need to score goals...

Have you tried using the "no pressure" team-talk. Always seem to help for me when we're in a slump. Actually I usually use it in ever away game and most home games in our first season in a new division. If I use it I use it both before game and at halftime no matter what the score is. Still using it in tough games with Anadia. We just beat Porto 3-0 in what was really a very even game using it.

Liga Sagres (fixtures)

Not much to say. Just 2 points less than the previous season, but Porto and Benfica were a lot better this time.

Portuguese Cup (fixtures | final) - Great win in a tight final against Porto. Our first cup trophy.

League Cup (fixtures | group | final) - Very lucky in the final, but Wangs goal gave us our second cup trophy.

Comment: Couple of lucky home wins in the group stages. We were mostly hammered away. Liverpool ain't what they used to be with Torres retired. Barcelona simply were to strong.

Players (ratings)

Summer signings:

Daniele Pierini (SC) - Decent first season.

Volkan Kaya (GK) - Backup goalkeeper to replace Paz.

Hasan Yalcinkaya (AMR/SC) - Did ok, but I expected more.

Ronni Mikkelsen (GK) - Another backup goalkeeper, cause Makengo was acting up.

David Revuelta (DL) - Backup left-back.

Thomas Kessler (MC) - Still haven't settled in.

The other signings were all for the U19/reserve-team. More on that below.

Patrick Wang signed a new 5 year contract, and was once again our best player picking up the Forward of the Year award. He's miles a head of the rest of the team in terms of ability. I've set his asking price to £50M to try and fend of bids, and so far no one has made contact. Clubs like Arsenal, Dortmund, Roma and Barcelona are "interested" though.

Alberto De la Rosa and Oriol also had good seasons picking up the 1st and 2nd spot in the Young Player of the Year award.

I sacked our assistant manager since the first season and brought in Anton Polster instead. His mental abilities are amazing. According to him our squads potential and ability looks like this. Obviously there's lots of room for improvement and it clearly shows that Wang is to good for us.

The Youth Project

There's one big issue with bringing in lots of young players from all over the world. A lot of them will not settle in. I had at least 6 players in the U19 and Reserve team unhappy for the entire season. I allowed them leaves of absence, but it usually don't help. Usually takes about 1 season for most players to settle in at the moment so I expect most of them to be happy after the summer. Already had to sell one though after fining him 2 weeks wages no less than 6 times for missing training. I had players talk about "bad squad harmony" all season long, and I think this might have been the reason for that. So it's not all good.

Here's the youth team and reserve team sorted by my new assistants opinion of their potential.

Here's a few random picks:

Antonio Costa - My favorite. Mostly cause he's Portuguese. He joined in January for a £575K fee from Penafiel. I'm considering taking him into the first team squad already.

Nikolay Mladenov - Had a very successful loan spell at Boavista in the Liga Vitalis, playing 18 games and helping them promote through a 2nd place finish.

Sedat Ergün - The best performer on the U19s this season. 33 goals and 19 assists in 19 starts.

Joel Alvarez - Another great peformer for the U19s with 44 goals in 28 matches.

Sükrü Dinler - Promising midfielder, had a good season for the U19s

Some players are growing old to fast. I'm not sure how old I want a player to be before he's no longer a "hot prospect". I guess, as long as they are happy with a "hot prospect" status they still have a chance. So far my scouts have found 3-4 players with the potential Wang has (4,5 star), but they all cost £10M-£20M or more. May have to re-think my scouting strategy a bit. Maybe ask them to look for U20 players more.

Status Quo

 • New average attendance record, obviously, with our new stadium. A long way from the capacity of 23K though.
 • Bank balance looks good, but only because of Champions Cup money. Without it we'd be in red. And next season we won't have that.
 • Good performance in Europe, even though we were incredibly lucky in the group stages. Next season only EURO Cup, maybe a good thing.
 • I feel like we're not moving forward much. Might try selling a few players this summer and start working towards a 1st eleven of 3,5* (or better) players.
 • A lot depends on Wang at the moment. I'm praying that my chairman don't accept some cheap offer. Still, no one has bid anything at all. Probably cause I set a £50M price tag on him. And he's happy, but the second someone bids and I don't accept he'll be mad I'm sure. If we do get some silly money offer for him it could be used to improve the whole squad though obviously. But I'd rather keep him for 10 more years.

Anadia Futebol Clube pre-season 2018/19

Huge changes to the squad this summer as I let go of most fringe players and a few that's been playing a lot as well. I felt like we weren't really moving forward last season so something had to be done. £12.25M spent on new players, £16.5M received in transfer fees.

 • Dusan Kuciak (GK) - Deal done in January, was gonna be first-choice GK until we found Abdel Ghany.
 • Ignacio Cerda (SC) - Deal done in January. Probably Wangs first choice partner if he stays fit.
 • Francisco Borja Minguez (DRC) - Deal done in January. Not sure if he'll be 1st or 2nd choice yet.
 • Ivan Navarro (DMC) - 16 year old that was transfer listed after his first season at Sporting (in Spain). He looks great for his age, so I was happy to pick him up. 3,5 star potential, so I'll try to rotate him a bit already.
 • Gary Downing (GK) - Another 3,5* potential player. Probably 2nd choice behind Abdel Ghany.
 • Cristian Acosta (AMC) - Talented 18 year old. Started the first few games cause Oriol was injured and have been totally on fire. He "likes to beat the offside trap".
 • Denislav Ivanov (AMC) - Another talented midfielder. Also been great in his first few matches.
 • Mohamed Abdel Ghany (GK) - Superstar!! He's got 4,5* ability/potential, just like Wang. Luckily I sent 2 scouts to the World Cup this summer, cause I would never have found him if not. I've not been scouting Egypt (or Bosnia, where he was on loan last year). My jaw literally dropped when my scouts mentioned him after his MoM performance against Turkey. An absolute steal for £1.5M, and hopefully our GK for a long time.
 • Robert Verstraete (AMRC) - Talented Belgian 18 year old. Scout said 4* potential, but assistant says 3,5*. Either way he's talented.
 • Carsten Weber (GK) - Released after 3 years at Dortmund and "hot prospect". Will be in the reserves.
 • Victor Quintero Morones (DMC/MC) - My biggest transfer fee paid for a player so far at £2.5M. I wanted a strong midfielder and he's been on my shortlist for a year already. Hopefully he can give us balance.
 • David Papuga (DMC/MC) - Another talented young midfielder. 3* potential, but can be "leading star" says assistant.
 • Peter Lippai (DRC) - He's a natural rightback, and I think a lot better than those we had.
 • Enrique Ramos (DLC) - Transfer listed by Sevilla. Their loss. I think he might be a gem.

Morones and Abdel Ghany are obvious first choice players. Cerda, Ivanov, Lippai, Ramos and Acosta will also definitely be fighting for a spot in the "best" eleven. Lots of transfers, but finances are still good since we sold many as well.

Another transfer-window without a single bid for Patrick Wang. He's unhappy now though, "wants to move to a bigger club". But so far that only seems to motivate him to do better, as he's got 4 goals in 4.

And just one to drool at to finish it off. Barcelona has this regen called Ferrari who's just a little bit good.

I had this with Yildiz and it continued even when he was in the League winning team, I would generally put him on the transfer list with a completely ridiculous expectation 100M generally works well, then after 2-3 months he would change his screen to Willing to Stay, so off the list and sign a new contract ;) (This is if you want to keep him)

Yea, I've done something similar. Not transfer listed him, but put his asking price at £50M. That's probably why no one has bid yet. He signed a new contract last summer after being unhappy during the season. I do wanna keep him. No doubt about that. There's no clubs under "monitoring" or "interested" atm, so I hope he'll just come around again towards the end of the season and sign another extension.

some really good signings there Ohanzee... Ghany looks like he could be a world-beater. Acosta looks a really good striker there and could be a good foil for Wang. i have a feeling you might just break through and win the title this season.... Good luck.

we're so going to get relegated... we are way out of our depth - two consecutive promotions was too much.

EDIT: and at our 14th attempt we finally win 3-1 away at Bochum. all thanks to a change in formation to a 4-4-2. hopefully we can kick on from here

Liga Sagres (fixtures)

Finally we won it!! After losing points against Trofense, Portimonense and Vit. Guimaraes with our "B-team", I stopped playing a full team of them and instead rotated some "B-players" into the "A-team" from time to time. Beating Sportin CP 1-0 at home sort of decided the race. Had we lost, as we usually do, they'd be 2 points a head of us. Surprised to see Vit. Guimaraes so high and Benfica so low.

Portuguese Cup (fixtures | final) - Reached final again, but Porto were more lethal in front of goal. Thrilling game.

League Cup (fixtures | group ) - Tough group, not a very good performance. Mostly used the "B-team". We need better rotation players.

Comment: Big losses against Feyenord away and Twente at home. Both games I tried playing with the "B-team", as I thought we'd be safe. Almost cost us in the Twente game as we were 3-0 down before Wang, Carda and Morones came on. Disappointed with our finishing at home to Everton, and very disappointed with the away game all together.

Players (ratings)

 • Patrick Wang is the superstar as usual, scoring 35 and setting up 12 in his 38 starts and winning both Forward of the Year and Player of the Year awards. He's still unhappy, "wants to move to a bigger club", but still no one is interested in buying him after I raised his asking price to £80M.
 • Cristian Acosta was an amazing hit in his first season, scoring 11 and setting up 33 (1 a game) from his AMC role. He also had the highest average rating.
 • Enrique Ramos was amazing in defense, as I was expecting. He's tall and has amazing aeirial ability. Won the Central Defender of the Year award.
 • Ignacio Cerda was also brilliant as Wangs partner in his first season. Scoring 27 in 35 starts. He really exceeded my expectations and is wanted by Juventus, Sporting CP, Dortmund, etc already.
 • Mohamed Abdel Ghany did great in goal, and won the Liga Sagres Best Goalkeeper award. He's wanted by Man Utd and Inter, so I put a £80M price tag on him as well.
 • Lebedev won the Young Player of the Year award, which still makes no sense to me as he's older than Wang, Acosta, Ramos, etc who did better.
 • Oriol kept his good form from last year, and Lippai, Tasci, Ivano, and Morones also impressed me.

Clearly the big changes in the team last summer helped. As many as 7 of the new signings were part of my "A-team" selection for most of the season, and everyone did great.

Status Quo

 • Finances dropped dead. We can't handle the current wages (£166k/week) without Champions Cup money. Luckily we'll have that next season.
 • Average attendance went down a bit, that's really disappointing. Hopefully Champions Cup games will attract more interest.
 • We were going to get improvements in training/youth facilities, but they were canceled because of the financial status at the end of the season.
 • I've tried offering Wang a new contract a few times, but so far he's not budging. I won't give up though.
 • I'm happy with our A-team. We only miss one center back or right back, depending on where we put Lippai. Might bring Costa up from the U19s to play right-back and move Lippai in central.

Anadia Futebol Clube pre-season 2019/20

Our finances are back on track after the chairman injected £12M to help with the clubs running costs. The news report said it was a loan, but I don't see it in our finance screen. Either way we're ok, as we sold players for £22M and spent just £10M. We also got £6M price money from the Champions Cup already just for entering the group stages. We'll be playing Villarreal, Inter, and Vojvodina (SER). I haven't looked at their squads yet, but I'm not to happy with the draw. 2 teams from the "top-3 leagues".

Manoel (AMC) - I actually bought him last summer already, but being Brazilian he has to be 18 to move, so now he's here. I was actually hoping to have more player from Brazil by now, but this is the only one in the team.

Juan Martin Martin Sanchez (SC) - I'll just call him Martin. Promising striker.

Alfonso de la Barrera (AMR/SC) - Another promising striker.

Diego Garcia Gutierrez (DL) - Very young leftback transfer listed by Valencia.

Rafael (DC) - Another Spanish defender.

Nestor Alvarez (DC) - And another. This one from the Barcelona academy.

Pedro Gomes (DMC/MC) - An actual Portuguese talent. A bit surprised Porto didn't want more for him as he's one of few 3*+ (potential) talents I've found in Portugal of this age.

Lots of players left. Pretty much all the "old" squad players that was going no where fast. Quite a few of them to Porto, which I'm not sure I like. I guess it means we're on the way up when they are picking up our scraps though.

Wasn't sure if I should let Dabic go, but he's not improved at all and still haven't managed a season rating of 7.0+ in four full seasons, so I decided to let him go. I think Pedro Gomes might turn out to be a better player.

Also moved Antonio Costa up from the U19 squad. He's my other Portuguese talent and if he is to fulfill his potential he needs to play a bit at this level. He'll never be Patrick Wang quality, but the scout said "leading star" about his 3* potential when I bought him. Speaking of which, we got no bids for Wang this window either. In fact all the biggest stars of last season are still here.

We're going into the new season with a much smaller squad though. And most of the backup players are 16-18 years old. We got lots of quality in midfield and up front, but I hope we don't get to many injuries/suspensions in defense.

1st in Liga Sagres (pred: 2nd) | Graph | Transfers | Finances

Keeping it a bit shorter this time as photobucket is doing my head in. The mass-uploader fails on at least 3-4 images every time I try to upload 20+ images. If you want screens of anyone/anything in particular, just let me know.

Liga Sagres (fixtures)

It may look like we had a walk in the park, but after the first half of the season Sporting CP was top of the league. They lost just 1 game before christmas, and that was against us. They lost their form in the second half of the season though, and when we beat them 1-0 away as well it was over. Amazing performance by us though. I'm especially pleased that we kept winning even when Patrick Wang was out injured for 3 months at the end of the season. I'm also delighted about only conceding 12 goals in 30 matches, really good.

Portuguese Cup (fixtures) - Winners for the second time.

League Cup (fixtures) - Horrible performance, but we never put out a full strength eleven.

Champions Cup (fixtures)

Good performance in the group stages, but Man City was to strong in the 1st KO round. They went on to win it with their star strikers Lukaku and Balotelli being on fire. If Patrick Wang hadn't been injured we might have had a chance, cause the home game was pretty close until they scored the 2-1 goal. A 2-1 win for us instead would have meant we'd be through on away goals.

The Squad (ratings)

Most players performed great and that's reflected by almost every one of them being wanted by other clubs now. Still waiting for someone to actually give me a decent offer for anyone though.

As has been mentioned Patrick Wang got his first major inury this season. He was out for 3 months with a torn hamstring. He also requested a transfer the second we lost to Man City in the Champions Cup. With 2 years left on his contract I'm not sure what to do with him. Right now he's not sure himself as his happiness have changed to "Not sure if he should leave the club". He does not want a new contract though and I can't take him off the transfer list without him asking me.

Status Quo

 • Finances look great now after a season in the Champions Cup. It was also helped by the chairman injecting money before the season and more money from player sales.
 • Average attendance went up as I expected with us being in the Champions Cup. It's still low though. I hope we can reach 20K in a couple of years.
 • Youth and training facilities will be upgraded for £575K this summer. It's about time.
 • Not sure I've mentioned it before, but we now have Raul Meireles, Ricardo Carvalho and Fernando Torres in our coaching staff. Torres is teaching our strikers how to shoot.

Congrats ghostwriter!! Well done! Now the real fun begins. :)

Cheers rlipscombe.

I've only just began the summer transfer window. But Wang already decided for me. On the 27th of June he came into my office and politely asked if he could be taken off the transfer list. I of course granted his request and once more asked if he would be interested in signing a new 5 year deal. He put pen to paper and is now a happy puppy. And so am I. Abdel Ghany also signed a new 5 year deal. This might be a quiet transfer window.
