This is truly a achievement in editing and has inspired me to one day do something similar, not until yours has finished though, do not want to take the shine off.

I find it funny how people when reading take a shine to one of the teams, I find myself rooting for Shasaradze. I look forward to one day being able to manage them when you post the database up. I totally understand why you won't post it yet. Please keep up the good work, really enjoying this.

Lol.

Just a note for the followers, I've simulated a couple of seasons ahead but am yet to write a report. Been real busy at work and moving homes, and am shortly to be without net access at home for a week or two. Hang tight, (or should I say Hang Tough as the Gladiators are coming back icon_wink.gif)

BIRTH OF A NEW NATION

Season 2012/2013

Transfer Market

The Ellisian clubs were buying from each other during the summer as well as buying Scottish talent from the SPL. More players were purchased from Championship sides as in previous seasons. Meanwhile, Ellisian clubs continued to sell their players to EPL clubs at a cut price as they’d go on to be valued ten times higher once they’d made the switch.

European Competitions

United Commonwealth Club were Ellisia’s entrants into the Champions League as First Division Champions. Once again, the EFD Champions had to start their campaign in the first qualifying round; opening against FC Ranger’s from tiny Andorra. The 4-0 thumping they gave them at home put the tie beyond any doubt as they played out for a 0-0 draw away from home to progress to the second qualifying round where they would face Ujpest FC of Hungary. They travelled to the 13,500 seater Szusza Ference Stadion in Budapest and recorded a 1-0 victory which was matched with a 1-0 victory at the Steward’s Centre in front of 46,625 Drakes fans.

The 2-0 aggregate victory meant that the Drakes would progress to the third qualifying round where they were drawn against….. FC Barcelona, possibly the hardest draw they could of got. In front of 48,894 fans they lost narrowly 1-0 to a goal by Samuel Eto’o late on. Travelling to the Nou Camp they needed a miracle. They didn’t get it, as they lost 4-0 to Barcelona, or should I say, to Bojan, who nabbed all four goals. This meant that United Commonwealth Club would transfer into the UEFA Cup 1st round.

Shasarazade, the entrants in the Inter-toto Cup drew MFK Kosice of Slovakia but embarrassingly went out after losing 0-1 and 1-2, ending their first foray into European competition early.

The nation’s representatives in the UEFA Cup were Stravchine Balanvinski and FC Jasque. Balanvinski drew Astana from Kazakhstan in the first qualifying round and a 1-0 home victory left them worried about the return leg, they needn’t have because they completely controlled the encounter, winning 4-0. FC Jasque meanwhile had drawn St Patrick’s Athletic from Dublin, Ireland. Two 3-0 victories meant they easily advanced to the next round, where they drew Ekranas from Lithuania. They won 1-0 away from home and were winning 1-0 at home when Ekranas equalised making it 2-1 on aggregate but in the knowledge that another would put Ekranas through. Fortunately, Cregg scored ten minutes from time to secure an aggregate victory by 3 goals to 1. Balanvinski drew French side Stade Rennais FC and a gutsy 0-0 draw away from home was followed by a thriller in the Varburn stadium. Rennais took the lead twice while Balanvinski equalised twice. Lennon who had scored the second equaliser and five minutes later scored another to put Balanvinski in the lead for the first time! 3-2 would put them through but ten minutes from time Esteban scored for Rennais and it was enough to put the French side through on away goals.

In the 1st round of the UEFA Cup FC Jasque drew NK Dinamo of Croatia, who held Jasque to a 1-1 draw at Bastiat Crescent before a thriller in Croatia decided the tie. In the first half the score was 1-1 with just over half an hour gone but Dinamo scored two goals before half-time to give them an overwhelming advantage and a lead on aggregate of 4-2. When they added a fourth goal with ten minutes from time the tie looked over, no one told FC Jasque as first Heffernan scored and then Carey grabbed one in the first minute of a five minute injury time. The score was 4-3, the aggregate 5-4, another goal for Jasque would put them through. Dinamo hung on though and FC Jasque went out narrowly on aggregate. United Commonwealth Club drew Zenit St Petersburg and a 2-2 home draw was unfortunately followed by a narrow 1-0 loss in the Gazprom-arena.

Conclusion

For the first time in a number of years, no Ellisian side made it through to the group stages of either the Champions League or UEFA Cup. Two clubs made the first round of the UEFA Cup, which is an achievement for a low ranked nation and with the co-efficients counting the last five years, it was highly probable that Ellisia would advance against up the rankings.

------------------------------------------------------

Isoeph Cup

Nodnol City, Bozarburg, FC Jasque, Stravchine Balanvinski, Port Nelson, Midchestnut United, Wegason Dragons and United Commonwealth Club were the eight sides to progress to the quarter finals in the Isoeph Cup with Nodnol losing 2-0 to Balanvinski. Port Nelson beat United Commonwealth 3-2 while Bozarburg beat Midchestnut by the same score line. FC Jasque required extra-time to beat Wegason 2-1.

Port Nelson and FC Jasque went to penalties in the semi-final while Balanvinski secured a 4-2 extra time win over Bozarburg. Port Nelson secured their first Isoeph Cup with a 2-1 win over Balanvinski in the final.

Emperors Cup

The quarter finals of the Emperors Cup saw Port Nelson require extra time to beat Argyres as did UCC to overcome Wegason. Nodnol City beat Rayleigh 3-1 while FC Jasque beat Bozarburg by the same score. FC Jasque scored an important 3-2 victory over Port Nelson while UCC needed extra-time again to advance, as they beat Nodnol 2-1. The final was probably the most one-sided final in modern history as FC Jasque scored five goals as they won 5-0 to beat UCC and claim their second successive Emperors Cup.

The Ellisian National team

An opening victory over Lithuania 1-0 was followed by two 3-0 losses to Russia and Scotland. A 4-1 friendly victory over Montenegro and a 5-0 victory Canada saw them enter 2013 in strong shape and a 2-0 victory over Norway confirmed a good run in the international friendlies. They lost 2-0 to Portugal in a qualifier but have matches against Azerbaijan and Russia in June.

BIRTH OF A NEW NATION

Season 2012/2013 (continued)

Ellisian First Division

A new team were on top of the table at New Year, as Bozarburg made a strong opening start to the season with 10 wins in their opening 15 games putting them on top of the table and clear of the chasing pack of five teams who were separated by just four points and who all had a game in hand of Bozarburg who were four points clear. Meanwhile down at the foot of the table, Wegason, Argyres, and Midchestnut United were struggling along with a number of other teams who were not far from the bottom placed club.

The table on the 1st of January 2012 looked like this:

| -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

| 16th | | Midchestnut United | | 14 | 2 | 3 | 9 | 19 | 29 | -10 | 9 |

| -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

The games in hand the chasing pack had not been wasted by a number of teams as the season reached February as Bozarburg were still leading at this point from the chasing pack of Port Nelson and Nodnol City by two points while FC Jasque had slipped a further three points off the pace. Midchestnut meanwhile, were down at the foot of the table seven points from the team above them.

Moving into March and a slip up by Bozarburg to Argyres at the beginning of March saw Port Nelson gain the upper hand, this was despite Bozarburg recording the biggest win and highest scoring game in Ellisian football history when they demolished Grimme Athletic 9-2. At this stage of the season FC Jasque had further slipped off the pace while Nodnol were level on points with Port Nelson, having played a game more than the Admirals. The bottom of the table was similar to earlier in the season as Midchestnut continued to reside at the foot of the table but having made some progress with two victories in the 11 games since the new year but it looked increasingly unlikely they would overhaul either Faradafry or Whitefield sitting five points above them.

The top of the table looked like this:

| Pos | Team Pld | Won | Drn | Lst | For | Ag | G.D. | Pts |

| 1st | Bozarburg 25 | 16 | 5 | 4 | 60 | 25 | +35 | 53 |

| 2nd | Port Nelson 24 | 16 | 3 | 5 | 52 | 27 | +25 | 51 |

| 3rd | Nodnol City 25 | 16 | 3 | 6 | 42 | 27 | +15 | 51 |

While the bottom of the table resembled this:

| Pos Team | Pld | Won | Drn | Lst | For | Ag | G.D.| Pts |

| 14th Whitefield United | 25 | 5 | 5 | 15 | 21 | 45 | -24 | 20 |

| 15th Faradafry City | 25 | 5 | 5 | 15 | 18 | 42 | -24 | 20 |

| 16th Midchestnut United | 25 | 4 | 3 | 18 | 31 | 49 | -18 | 15 |

Port Nelson started off their quest for a third title with a victory over Wegason while Bozarburg defeated Spark Rovers. Spark would then go on to do Bozarburg an enormous favour by beating the Admirals 3-0 at home, meaning Nodnol were in the hunt after their victory over Diamond Heights followed by a narrow win over Shasarazade while their rivals lost, Port Nelson 2-1 to Faradafry and Bozarburg 3-2 to Wegason. The table was now very close:

| Pos | Team Pld | Won | Drn | Lst | G.D. | Pts |

| 1st | Nodnol City 27 | 18 | 3 | 6 | +18 | 57 |

| 2nd | Bozarburg 27 | 17 | 5 | 5 | +36 | 56 |

| 3rd | Port Nelson 27 | 17 | 3 | 7 | +23 | 54 |

The hard fought lead of Nodnol was frittered away when they lost to bottom placed Midchestnut United who were gaining points with that victory and a key rout of Faradafry. Bozarburg beat UCC 2-1 and Port Nelson won 4-2 at Whitefield to drop Nodnol to third on goal difference and give Bozarburg a two point advantage once again. Crunch time for Nodnol and Port Nelson came in the penultimate game when they faced each other at Trafalgar Park, a close game saw the Admirals win 1-0 as Bozarburg beat Whitefield 2-1. The loss sealed Whitefield to a at least a relegation play-off as it was their 8th straight loss and having not won for 13 games, Midchestnut had overhauled them.

Had Nodnol defeated Port Nelson it would of seen the most exciting final match showdown as they faced each other in the final game of the season. As it was, Shasarazade took a 2-0 lead over Port Nelson into half-time where the Admirals were dejected to hear that Bozarburg were beating Nodnol 5-0 with five goals from David Foley. Port Nelson pulled it level to 2-2 before Shasarazade scored a third with 20 minutes to go, it was McGurk who came up trumps for Port Nelson, netting two goals in the last five minutes to secure a victory. The five nil loss to Nodnol meant that they came 4th behind FC Jasque who secured a 6-2 victory over UCC. Whitefield could only struggle to a draw against AFC Posul and that meant relegation for them while Midchestnut drew with Balanvinski, securing their place in the EFD as Faradafry lost 4-0 to Grimme Athletic.

The final table told the story:

As you may have noticed, the great European results of the past few seasons has seen Ellisia shoot up the rankings to such an extent that they now lie 21st and as a result have three UEFA Cup spots which means that 2nd and 3rd go into the UEFA Cup and possibly 4th placed if the Emperors Cup winner is one of the top three (like this year).

I've deliberately left 15th placed ambiguous as I don't have time to do the Second Division and will update you at a later point.

Thanks for giving this a read and to know you're impressed has made my day. I hope you continue to follow this and I'm sorry I've extended your work day (though payback for extending mine so often icon_biggrin.gif )

My condolences on your team's season though, hopefully they'll rebound next year.

Cheers O'Hara_fan, I'll update you on San Angel later this week.

Well I have started something similar to this, but my god it takes forever, I just started going through and first changed the Nation itself, then it was a start om the cities, just decided to delete half the cities, well not delete, but make them not my nation, but god this takes so much work. Kudos to you for having already done it icon_smile.gif

And I will follow with interest as I update my own icon_smile.gif

Nooooooooooooo! What a collapse from apparent mid table safety icon_frown.gif Not to worry, they'll be back!

Congratulations to Bozarburg, quite a turnaround from getting relegated in the very first season, and having never even played in Europe before they'll now be representing a nation in the Champions League. Good stuff!

Quite a rotational European appearance actually, almost as if a lot of the club's can't compete domestically and in Europe at the same time.

Whitefield went down due to their collapse and Midchestnut's Fulham-eque revival at the end of the season. They stuck with the manager who got them into the promised land and who has been with them for six years now.

Sometimes that is the case as FC Jasque seem to struggle in the league when they're playing in Europe but I'd say there are three clubs that are usually in the mix for European football. FC Jasque, Stravchine Balanvinski, and Port Nelson, they're fairly consistent league wise and have 9 top three finishes between them in the six seasons of competitive football, including three titles.

Five of the 16 clubs in the EFD have never played European football. I will agree though that the league is quite open, any team could win it each year really. Bozarburg were surprise winners this year, like Grimme Athletic in the second season. It remains to be seen if Bozarburg can remain consistent challengers or if the two big clubs (as I'm now calling them) in Port Nelson and FC Jasque can regain the title.

In the Emperors Cup for instance one of those two clubs have won it the past 4 seasons while the Isoeph Cup has been more spread out but still, both clubs have won it once.

Ellisian Second Division

The Second Division season was a close run thing at the top of the table with the top six sides separated by ten points with 3 games to go and 4 teams competing for 2nd place. Lantisia were in the running the whole season, never dropping below 4th and 1st for most of the season. They were 3 points clear with 3 games to go. Snapping at their heels were Grimme City and Rayleigh, Rayleigh were a further two points back. However Windsor Castle and Newtonia were in with a shout of catching Grimme City for 2nd, being 4 and 5 points behind respectively. Lantisia’s lead was only 3 points due to Windsor Castle’s victory, 4-3, over Grimme City the weekend before.

A 3-2 victory for Grimme City over Newtonia ended the latter’s promotion hopes while Rayleigh lost 3-0 to league leaders Lantisia who maintained a 3 point gap. A draw and a loss after this put paid to Rayleigh’s promotion hopes, which was a shame as they’d had a league record run of 16 games undefeated. Windsor Castle kept pace with a victory over the Adelphia Spartans. The story of the season was the abject misery of the Spartans’ season, they’d amassed a pitiful 8 points all season and at the end of the season had scored 19 and conceded 66 (a league record high), including a league record loss to Portadown of 8-0 which fortunately for them was witnessed by a league record low of 226 fans.

Windsor Castle maintained pressure by beating Portadown 4-1 but Grimme City walloped Hendon 4-0 which guaranteed Grimme a second place finish. Lantisia had meanwhile slipped up, drawing 0-0 with San Angel. The Oolongs therefore led Grimme City by a solitary point going into the final game of the season.

The final game of the season saw Estaag beating Grimme City 4-2 as Lantisia won 1-0 over Linfield. Lantisia won promotion straight back up, while Grimme City would playoff against Faradafry City for a place in the First Division.

Grimme City secured a vital 1-1 draw at Calamint Road Faradafry, but were 2-2 at Threadneedle Street when Faradafry scored a late third to secure the tie and win First Division football.

I think I may try to do this if I can get my editor sorted (dw I won't try to steal your ideas or anything!)

I am thinking of putting it on the Forums, part of me wants to as this is nothing short of amazing but I don't want to take anything away from this thread so I'll contemplate for a few weeks!

I don't want to jinx it, but (touch wood), I'm very close to a database release.

Very close indeed. It will be bigger, better, and more far reaching in it's scope and the quality of what's in there.

More to come shortly... watch this space.

I would be very interested in this database Wegason, I think I might even edit one team to my town of Hastings and play as them!

Having said that I don't think I will be making a database as 1, it's extremely hard 2, it's extremely time-consuming and 3, it doesn't always work! (I couldn't play in the league I changed!)

That could be because you don't have the correct number of teams in the league (I.E. Too many or too few)

You could do your Hastings one in the English leagues on your own database, wouldn't be hard at all. Just go into competitions, go to Blue Square South, and go to teams. Swap out Weston-super-mare (should of been relegated last season but for clubs dissolving) and replace them with Hastings.

Save database and start a new game.

Well if you wait, instead of doing what you mentioned, you could do my forthcoming challenge which will involve THIS database.

Nice work, this is truly a great thread, I came here because of Kipfizh's recommendation and I don't regret a second of it, although you made me stay up way late and I have a somewhat important meeting tomorrow.

As a side note I'm a FC Jasque fan since I read Lyon's their parent club. Could you please tell me what player Lyon sent to FC Jasque and how they did?

Hi,

found this thread yesterday, along with your challenge thread. Well done on the editing, amazing.I downloaded the db and spent yesterday playing about with it. Knowing i wouldnt have enough time to play it for a number of seasons, i didnt take up your challenge. Instead, i took charge of Nodnol and won the Isoepth (sp?) cup and finished 2nd in the league without ever challening for the title. I found it quite hard to attract quality players and my chairman went over my head and sold off my best talent. Barthez retired in January and i struggled to find a decent keeper, eventually having to settle for Maik Taylor. It took a final day victory to come 2nd in a close battle for the Europen places but Argyres dominated and ran away with the league.

Anyway, i resigned and left it running overnight to see what would happen. The country rose up as high as 26th in the coefficients by 2011 and Stravachine Bal.. had some decent success in Europe. They made it past the UEFA cup group stages twice, making the quarter finals on one occasion, beating the likes of Celtic and Portsmouth.

They also qualified for the champions league one season. Needing a draw against Olympiakos to advance from the group stage (which also included Arsenal and Fenerbache), they lost 3-2 and there European interests were over.

No other teams enjoyed any european success.

Just wanted to say thanks as it was enjoyable playing, just a shame i dont have the time to spend playing it.

David
