Hershie
Sweden are somehow ranked 129th in the World, yet just won the 2044 European Championships. Anyone seen anything this bizarre? Would've got good odds.

x42bn6
Grey teams again? I once had an FM07 game where Ireland won the World Cup (early on in the game) and John O'Shea was voted third-best player of the tournament and Conor McCormack (formerly Manchester United, now Triestina) second-best. Very weird.

Yonezzz
Not quite winning it, but I've seen non-league Oxford get to the quarter final of the FA Cup before.

Raware
Have had Scotland win the world cup in 2018 and 2022 on mine despite being ranked fairly lowly in the world rankings...but then again...Denmark in 1992?

TOUGHGUY
Nigeria, an average, hardly spectacular side, won the 2014 World Cup on my game on penalties. In a final against unstoppable juggernauts and holders from 2010 England no less!
Forkoid
Greece 2004? Everyone seems to have forgot! Lest I repeat myself... Iraq winning the 2007 Asian Cup?
RICHY-T
Lest I repeat myself...Iraq winning the 2007 Asian Cup? Yeah, but Greece was a bit more of a suprise than Iraq in my book, the level of the competition is much high obviously in Euro's than Asian Cup! d-machine
I wouldn't say that, I mean Australia, Japan, China, Saudi Arabia, Iran and South Korea are much, much better national sides than Iraq. It was definetly a surprise. Even sides like Bahrain and Kuwait would normally beat Iraq.
hamilton162
On FM2005, i had a completely unknown nation win the WC against me when they were ranked 189 in the world
Heartwork
Bahrain perhaps a bad example. They were the team in a play-off with Trinidad and Tobago to get into the 2006 WC. A bad team wouldn't've got that far.

Heartwork
For FM2010 I'll give it a go, right now I'm still with FM08 and slowly dismantling England, I've got Kent and Cornwall active as nations (but Cornwall are completely useless so I threw in Plymouth) and created a Kent League (with Charlton and Palace thrown in, and a special team with top rep.). Kent always shoot up the rankings, Cornwall are always useless.

Not saying it was not a suprise, but Greece were by far one of the most unexpected teams in the competition to win it, maybe the most unexpected, however Iraq were not down as the most unexpected, they were not expected to win it, but they had more of a chance in my book than Greece in 2004.
