DietSpam
Well, I've always wondered if the players height would be represented in 3D. Judge for your selves. Hutchison is over 29' there.

jamboblue
why would they not be winning against albion rovers? that is top class realism though
Indi75
...but, since height has no bearing in the engine, how does having even a team of realistically vertiginous 6'7" players help?
DietSpam
...but, since height has no bearing in the engine, how does having even a team of realistically vertiginous 6'7" players help? No one said that. Or did i miss something?
Joor
Height does not do anything in the match engine. It only determine how a player develop hes jumping attribute over the years.
Djimmi
So if a guy has 20 heading and 20 jumping it doesn't matter if he's 5'0 or 7'2?
Indi75
Jumping & Heading = Good Being 7 foot tall = largely irrelevant.
DietSpam
I think people are missing the fact that it was just a joke. Just me saying look how big this guy is. Jesus Christ.
Diego_Werderdona
Looks very funny, I had a nice chuckle As for height/jumping, height is superficial really, but jumping takes a player's height into consideration, basically jumping shows how high a player can get off the ground to reach a ball, so height plays a big part
jbrowes
Not entirely sure that height is actually a factor - have just given my 2 shortest players 20 in Jumping & Heading, and they are outjumping 6' 3" defenders with 18 in in each!!!
O Estranho
I remember SI clearly stating that, in FM08, height was completly irrelevant for the math engine. Player coul be peter crouch or wright-philips, it was all about jumping... Don't know how it is with 09, though...
Fall Ark
Height is not "totally irrelevant". It's used to judge which part of the body the player touches the ball.... well, if that sounds too vague just edit one of your player's height to 10cm or so, and he will get a hell of a lot of headers -- sometimes a simple pass he can only flick on by jumping! Don't mark my words, try for yourself.
Indi75
Height is not "totally irrelevant". It's used to judge which part of the body the player touches the ball.... Nonsense. Speculative nonsense. SI have repeatedly stated that height is not a parameter in the match engine.
shefki2008
So what some of you is saying is, if a player who is 6'9 and has a jumping and heading stat of 17 will get beat in the air by a player who is 5'0 and has heading and jumping of 19 or 20? Rubbish!!!!
shoome
Only on these forums could a thread intended to convey a laugh or two end up in a full blown row over 10" tall people ('the plane, the plane'). Mr Spam ... I feel your pain ...
HHUK
Does weight make the player wider? I wonder if you could make a hulk like player.
Fall Ark
Nonsense. Speculative nonsense. SI have repeatedly stated that height is not a parameter in the match engine. I said "try for yourself", but if my description alone isn't incentive enough for you to do so, look at this screenie: http://img360.imageshack.us/my.php?image=heightke9.jpg This is Ian Morris, a 183cm player with a jumping stat of 8, who has challenged in the air for exactly 10 times in the past 10 matches. This match against millwall I did nothing but changing his height to 1cm (and weight 1kg, because a mismatched height/weight makes the player look funny -- see op), and voila, he jumped 23 times because almost every pass to him is too high for him to use his feet. He couldn't use his feet properly and that's reflected in his other stats. Now, you could imagine that I photoshoped the pic, or set him to a target man, or do whatever other tricks that might be possible, and continue to believe that height has absolutlely nothing to do with the match engine. Or, you could just go and try for yourself, and see for yourself. And the "judge which part of the body the player touches the ball" statement is confirmed repeatedly by data researchers, if not other SI staff too. IbaltaxGrape
that's hilarious, though I'd imagine he'd have horrific balance.
A.D
does he score more goals and get more possession of the ball seeing how he takes far less steps than everyone else ?
