This year iv taken over this challenge with Neppo's blessing until he returns (we miss you m8!)

The main idea behind the Danny Roberts challenge, is to have 1 player score 1,000 goals for club and country under your management. There are no rules as to how you attain the player, although the editor MUST NOT be used. Season reports of potential challengers are encouraged.

During the past 4 incarnations of the game, a fair few players have gone on to achieve the feat of scoring 1,000 + goals. It is widely known that Roberts is regarded as the most amazing player of all to achieve the landmark, due to the fact he scored all 1,000+ club goals in the Premiership under the management of dafuge.

Feel free to enter in as many as possible, and we'll keep more of a track of the entries and goals in this thread, and compile some top 10's as the thread progresses.

As far as I know, there were no players that completed the challenge in FM09 (although I know some are close, and still going) - but FM08 was ripe with 1,000 goal scorers.

Challenge Rules :

This challenge can be attempted while playing any other challenges. So those of you having a crack at Gundo's, Rancers, canvey!!'s or dafuge's Challenge that come across a fantastic prospect for this challenge, feel free to come in and post your updates.

Use of an EDITOR is not permitted, unless the use is ONLY for league editing. Should there be any potential evidence to assume foul play with regards to this rule, the rule will be revoked, and no editing will be allowed. Please don't take ruin this for others by cheating.

Any player involved in this challenge MUST score the goals under human management. Therefore, if you have Player A and Club X and he scores 500 goals, then you move clubs, the player only has 500 goals towards the tally. If you buy the player and take him with you, and he scores 500 more, this will make his 1,000. If you do not buy him and he scores 500 more, this DOES NOT count towards the Challenge Tally and must not be added into final totals.

International Goals count either under Human, OR AI management.

Friendly International Goals DO Count.

Friendly Club Goals DO NOT Count.

Players playing in FMC mode will be allowed to post if you mark your post with #FMC

What are the rules with FMC, are FMC players allowed?

I'm sure we can do a separate leaderboard.. that would be fine with me.

Just mark your posts with FMC tag or something so its easy to see whats FMC and whats not when we tally up and update the leaderboard.

Anton Carter looks like my best ever chance of getting through to 1000 goals. Unlikely, but you never know.

Quick question just for clarity - do goals scored while out on loan count? I've sent Carter out on a short-term loan to get some extra game-time.

Unfortunately I've lost the overall best 11 from when he retired, he had well over 1,000 Prem goals

So total I can prove is:

982 Premiership goals in 646 matches (over four years of his career are missing from this total)

204 England goals in 165 caps (his final season is also missing from this. I believe he retired at the end of that season)

Total 1,186 goals in 811 appearances.

Technically, he's still under my management when he's out on loan....

Right so he's now 17 going on 18 and has already scored 15 goals for Arsenal and a further 6 on two loan spells. Not progressing as fast as I'd hoped but still could do it.

Even though the overall best 11 screen says he hasscored 818 goals for the club, adding up his goals for each season he has actually scored 829 goals for my club which gives him a total of 1062 goals for club and country and at 32 he still has a few seasons in him yet.

If he scores another 23 goals for England, he will go back down to 1 goal scored for England.

I hadn't even realised until his retirement, but youth product striker Joe Slowe has done it, scoring 1006 goals in his career.

Here he is, with 201 goals for England and here are his all time stats for the club, with 805 club goals.

Season by season screenshots can be found here, I've taken them for most if not all seasons.

Only noticed on my game today he has gone back down to 8 goals on his profile but the record scorer for England says he has got 254. Now does this mean he has scored 262? Or are some goals missed off?

Sorry, I completely forgot. I have played a while into the future now, so I only have a picture of him as a staff member. He has 141 France goals, and 884 goals during his time at Leeds. 884 + 141 = 1025 goals
