What do you Alt-Tab to?

Being sat here at 11:51pm with my laptop on and my girlfriend asleep accross the room i realised that i waste a hell of a lot of possible FM playing time by alt-tabbing to a website - usually facebook. and although i could never play FM without alt-tabbing my way around cyber space i do kinda get annoyed that i miss out on so much quality FM time!! the point of this topic is two-fold:

ONE to duggest to SI that perhaps a wicked little addition to FM09 would be to put a MSN messenger like blinker on the FM taskbar icon thing to show when the game has finished processing.

TWO to ask you fellow FMers what do you Alt-tab to?

My computer would would collapse in on itself if I tried to do anything else with it while FM was running. It can barely handle it as it is.

is that becuase you have so many leagues on the go or just cuz your computer is one of those old BBC type ones? what do you do when the game is processing? i think i would go mad without the release of alt-tab!

I alt-tab to the net too but i stay as far away from blogging websites as possible. I tend to stick to sports websites

I use Mac. Window changing is about 1 billion times easier.

so none of you guys have any little gems of a website that will keep me entertained for hours! cuz lets face it my missus isn't doing her job!

I got a laptop purely for FM...while it's doing its thing, I just browse on my desktop...

(okie...I lie somewhat...I use my laptop as normal when I'm not playing...like when I'm making a presentation to clients etc...but when I do play, I park near my desktop for the real duo processing cores, multi-task session...)

I have very much the same problem. I spend most of my FM time on the net browsing forums and the like and then tell myself I could have played 2 or 3 more games if I hadn't.

I think the flashing icon to tell you FM has finished processing is an excellent idea. Might want to suggest it in the suggestions thread.

As for a website you might like, well how big of a music addict are you? Do you like finding those obscure new bands that you normally might never hear about? Try LastFM. It's a very good site but if much newly discovered music empties your bank account then please don't blame me.

Wizard. Be a man and admit it. We all have a porn site to Alt + Tab to.

I alt tab to this site!

This site & the BBC sports pages do me fine.

I don't alt-tab, I run the game in a full-screen-sized window.

Usually I run the game while checking the forums (for FM and Mount&Blade) and occasional LiveJournal or DeviantArt check.

Lately I've even started watching anime while the game calculates stuff on occasion...

I'm very surprised that no one alt-tabs to a left-handed website

My pc is way to slow to browse t'internet and play at the same time, so i play solitaire, with vegas rules and cumulative score

I don't ALT+TAB as I run the game in full screen mode but what I tend to browse while playing FM depends on whether the missus is in the house with me or not

One good thing I have learned to utilise is the auto-continue. This is very useful when playing on-line poker while FM is running. I have the game on auto-continue so that it will just process through to the next match while I'm playing on-line poker. I'll then wait until I've folded my poker hand and flick back to FM to set up my team for the next game.

I never bother reading forums and such like while playing FM, I only bother with one forum anyway which is this one and I'm only on here during work hours.

My laptop isn't connected to the internet and can't really handle much else open with FM. I always have Task manager open though just so that I can Alt Tab out if I want to open another program.

Only other thing I generally Alt Tab to is Word or more usually Notepad if I am writing an FMS story for my current game.

this is how do it and when FM finishes processing it does tell you in a way. on my comp when it has finished processing or saving the screen kinda does something funny like you've just minimized something.

yep. spot on. hence forth i do it that way.

Yeah same, it sort of alters itself for some reason on mine.

Usually I'm flicking over to bbc.co.uk, or here, Bebo (More out of routine than pleasure lol), Hotmail, or MSN.

I play in windowed mode, so I just click the windows at the bottom.

Kind of gets annoying when you're talking to someone on msn who won't shut up during the FA Cup Final though.

I don't Alt-tab; I have two monitors. I usually have Eclipse (Java IDE), WMP and Firefox on the other monitor. Still, I'd like FM to emit a beep or something once its done grinding.
