uglyklownboy
I was a beta tester in FML and on the new database that has been set up for FM09 had the goalkeeper Hans Jorg Butt. His penalty taking was 19 and so I set him as my chief penalty taker. He was amazing never missing a single penalty scoring 15 goals in a season. ssestig
what new attributes would you like?
rekluse
I'm assuming penalty taking? for GK's to take penalties against...other GK's..because his never missed...I'm so confused.
CBrooker
I think he's referring to the new attributes which will be in place for FM09: penalty taking and freekick taking. It was mentioned in one of the blogs
looknohands
Penalty Taking is in 08 for goalies, but you have to look at the player's training attributes to find the exact value (set pieces, I believe.)
rekluse
Why would you want your GK to take penalties?
ssestig
it's funnier when he misses
Wakers
in South America and other places goalkeepers often take penalties. Remember Chilavert? He often scored from insane free kicks - usually due to the other goalkeeper being rubbish mind Butt as mentioned always takes penalties for Leverkusen. Jorge Campos was another who took penalties. Its quite common.
Tom14
Why would you want your GK to take penalties? Erm...because he might be your best penalty taker.
rekluse
Maybe he should rethink it a bit http://www.worldcupblog.org/world-cup-2006/why-goalkeepers-shouldnt-take-penalties.html
rekluse
Erm...because he might be your best penalty taker. In RL perhaps, in FM other attributes come into effect. In FM08 and previous versions I never even look at a players penalty attribute, I just look at composure and find it far more important for penalty taking. Also look at it for free kicks as well. I didn't think a game could restart unless the goalkeepers were ready though.

pnefc22
Look up chilaverts amazing 80 yard free kick. Pure class!
arsenal_2111
I think this could make the game a little weird. In 08 loads of keepers have high FK ratings, but few people knew them so it wasn't too much of a problem. But now there is a stat for it I reckon we'll be getting people comlaining that their GK's score too much... I'd prefer a penalty saving att TBH. mcleanrichard
yeah a saving penalty attribute would be good. IRL some goalies are penalty saving specialists (like Pepe Reina for example), whilst other goalies who might be excellent otherwise couldn't save a penalty if their lives depended on it (Craig Gordon). gunarrrrrrr
To clear things up, Penalty and Free kick stats are in FM 2008 for GOALKEEPERS as well, they're just hidden.. I've seen them on fm scout for example.
ScouseFromTheSouth
You can see a goalkeeper's penalty taking stat in 08, you have to change the thing that you can see when viewing your squad in a game from condition to penalty taking stat and they have one. Thanks for that, I didn't know. I must look up my GK's to see if they're any good.

The_Kreman
That was hilarious. I didn't think a game could restart unless the goalkeepers were ready though. Well, Ramelow and Lucio thought it was funny! They must have been about 7 or 8 goals up at the time.
