Muddymatt
Does your board find out and could you risk losing your current job if you just apply for a job without declaring interest beforehand
OugaBagga
Eithier way you will be sacked, as I know from perosnal experience. Declare Intrest = 95% Asked to resign / Be Sacked Apply for Job = 95% Sack if you dont get the job Declare Intrest and apply = 100% Sacked / Asked to resign
flashback790
There should be a way of applying for jobs behind the boards back.

s33r
I've applied for a couple jobs and not got the sack. That being said though just had a news item saying that the board are worried I won't extend my contract.
Terra21
I applied for jobs and never got sacked either, although I got a message saying the board weren't happy with me as the media publicized my job applications.
robertcornell68
I think they get angry if you express interest in a "rival" club - one in the same division. (I could be wrong - but I have applied for higher div clubs and got away with it.) I agree that there should be a sneaky way to test the waters secretly. (IRL it's called a "telephone.") TH21
I never got sacked for declaring interest in a job or applying for but it would be fun if there was a secret way to do it.

Mailman44
Yeah that would be great if you could pull an "Owen Judas Coyle" on FM 2011!

For a test on FM10, I just started a new game and added myself as Zagreb manager completely unknown reputation. Applied for a job in a low belgian division. Was asked to apologise/resign. I apologised. They accepted it. Two days later I applied for another job and was asked to apologise/resign. I apologised again. they accepted it again. The truth is that you can't know how the board will react. You run the risk of being sacked but I've had games where I applied for several jobs and never once got sacked. I know of someone else on these forums who declared himself interested in the same job on a regular basis and never got sacked.

RomaRulez
The Board have to know if your applying, its like work you cant just get another job without telling your boss. Alex0paul
Surely Bolton approached him rather than him applying for the job?
solstar
Yet another feature that needs to be worked on. Managers apply for jobs all the time and most times they dont get caught. In FM they always get caught.
Alex0paul
You should also get interviewed by the club you are applying to.

kevinep
It should be that in the majority of ocassions a club interested in having you would approach your club to obtain permission to speak to you. That way you can decide on whether you want a job, and not get sacked. Like in real life !
ParkLife
ive applyed for jobs and i have rarely been sacked because of it. i have been asked to resign, and everytime i have ignored there request, and i have only been sacked once out of about 10/
