Benjoe Posted July 19, 2018 Author Share Posted July 19, 2018 End of Season 17/18 Heartbreak and misery. That's what came this season. Whenever we were doing good, we dropped immediately again. With a loud bang. Not that kind of bang. Stop it. We did however finish 1 point ahead of the tossers at ze Frankenfurt. Hahaaa, jaaaa, suck on ze frankfurter again! I tried to sign their manager as my waterboy. He refused. Oh well. His loss. We had a very impressive season to be honest. We scored as many as we conceded. We won as many as we lost. Remarkable! In terms of the team we have some standout players. Wesley Sneijder was the big one for us, no doubt. And as that was one of my main pointers when signing him, I'm terrible satisfied with that. Yes, that one bit in itself justifies our entire season. 117 key passes in 27 games. Oh my jesus lord and savior. That is insane. Only 11 assists still though, as Belotti, Ibisevic, Dolberg (who was long time injured though) etc. all squandered impressive amounts of chances. Needless to say really, but Wesley was voted player of the year, and Fabinho, who only had 19 league games due to being in the B-team for large periods of the season, was voted second. That's gotta sting for the rest of the team.. Kai Havertz impressed in the second half of the season as he knocked an underwhelming Ibisevic off as raumdeuter. He will likely not be the starter for next season as I'm easing him into a starter as I feel he is growing plenty this way. He is a solid choice out there though, no doubt! Yes. Benjoe Posted July 21, 2018 Author Share Posted July 21, 2018 Transfer Window Summer of '17 And what a busy summer it's been! Let's provide you with a quick overview before I go into detail. We've made a profit this summer, so we have £60M in the bank now. Solid. Belotti was the first to get pulled away from us. He had a 34M release clause, so hard to do anything. Spurs had a pretty big task this summer as Harry Kane was sold to Man U for 87M and as such they cashed in. Milinkovic Savic as well as Diego Perotti signed for the 3rd placed Spurs after what was the most Spurs-y season ever. Ending third in their CL group, Losing to West Ham in the Europa League Semi final, losing to Arsenal in the EFL cup final, Going out in the FA cup fifth round to Bournemouth... You're gonna love it there kid. Back to our transfer dealings. Most of our out's were actually unhappy players that I just let go because I don't care about listening to their whining every other week. Academy kid Moritz Kreuzer Y1C was not intended though. Guess Dortmund stole him away on his youth contract because I recall denying offers 3 or 4 times but somehow they still got him in the end. I loaned out Klünter, Besuchskow and Eggestein as I can't see them getting regular game time, but still think they could grow into valuable pieces. Incomings were far more exciting however! We got our three young 'steals' who all look really good. They're great kids who can all develop into something solid. And Gnabry joining as well as I had already revealed. Solid business for 7M. Will like to have him. The second Wolfsburg player to join us of three guys in total. As they got relegated I attacked them like a vulture. Aiming for two specific prizes. Arnold and his long shots have been welcomed with open arms. Hard worker, enduring, mentally astute. He's just solid all around and I really like this. He was cheap too. Buuuut he got injured, torn calf muscle, out 3-4 months. Great. Didavi is the third and final Wolfsburg player joining. He has the lovely 'Curls ball' trait and has exquisite technique with vision to go. I like his all round game and he could potentially replace Sneijder in a year or two. 5.5M initial fee for Didavi is a massive steal and I'm happy to add him to our talented attack which is increasing in depth and quality despite us not replacing Belotti with a new signing. Dolberg will be starting, and Didavi can take shifts there too with his attributes so we should be good. With both Huth and Westermann wanting out I decided to preemptively sign Jannik here as he is a solid frame to have in defence, and was available fairly cheap. He isn't world class, but he should be a stable performer for us, so I'm happy to add him to this bunch. Of course I couldn't keep my hands off Hany. Currently playing for Brøndby and having had 2 amazing seasons so far since joining from Benfica. Massive talent. 300k fee for a great rotational player with potential left to fulfill. I like that. All in all, our 2017/18 squad: Signings joining in 2021: I've decided to snap up some youngsters from other nationalities than just German too. Out of these, Miranov is the real big gem. A libero or roaming playmaker in the making right there. Of other things to note: Valentino, who I bought last season for 600k, has been moved into the first team. I think he is ready for the level, and why not give him a shot now then. If he fails a loan move to a 2. Bundes club could be the answer. Salih is going to have his second year on loan at Nürnberg, and I'm okay with that for the moment. Nürnberg got promoted to 1. Bundesliga, and he'll play a major part for them this season so I don't worry for his game time. He is ready to fire for us too very soon, but for now I'll leave him in the spotlight at Nürnberg. Dolberg is injured so Vuji is getting a chance as our main man and 4 games with 2 goals and 2 assists is plenty approved! He started with this beauty in his debut. Another youngster getting the chance is half Danish, half Ghanaian, Nikolas Nartey. He's getting gametime as a left back and is performing nicely. He doesn't fit the bill perfectly, but seeing as van den Bergh has an injured spine and Plattenhardt is crying hardt, we needed another guy ready for a shot. Nartey is that guy. He wasn't rated highly after the intake by my HoYD, but he is proving himself a big talent at RM. He can definitely become something good at the wing. Great output in his first 6 league games for us. Dolberg is hidden on the bench, no way I'm benching Vuji when he's doing like this. Trust the Vuji process. But seriously, I need to bin Rajkovic soon... Countless times I've seen him mess up and cost a goal or two the same game. He is really not doing much for us. Tobias here is the future star. Come january, when I can register players again, I'll promote him and give him the keys. He's playing for the German u21s despite being purely Danish and 16. Krasnodar didn't want to release him, so I went a bit further than initially planned. His size, his power, his technique, his mentality.
