  1. Perhaps I don't understand what the OP means. In the game at the moment, right now on FM24, I can get wingbacks to be very offensive in the final third. When we are attacking down one flank I can expect them to be on the receiving end of a cross. It will naturally depend on my tempo, if the attack is too fast then naturally he may not get there. I have on many ocassions my wingbacks create goals for each other. Wingback gets into the final third and crosses to the other wingback who scores. The same applies to defensive wingers which imho are a very strong role, they are defensively good and in the offensive phases they can attack byelines for crosses or get in there to score too. These all depend on a teams defensive line. We also dont need any traits to get them to do this. All you need to do is play on a higher defensive line. And here I am not talking about winning the ball back from a counterpress and then creating a goal scoring chance. I am specifically referring to build up plays from your own half. I see a few expectations that may be misunderstandings of the basic team and player instructions in the game from the OP. He asks if you see a lot of "high level individual pressing", you can't affect individual pressing by that anymore, these are all subject to triggers now and this is the only thing you can affect. So if you have maxed out trigger pressing that just means the chance of a player responding to a trigger from an opponent is higher than before. To get wolfpack pressing the zone of compression needs to be shallow, ie. the height of the defensive line and the LOE must be narrow. And you will need to step up more to close out the space behind. @Ermes Messaggero Nerazzurro You might have expectations of what you want to see based on what you interpret in real life, however your expectations might not be accurately translated into the game because your starting assumptions about how all the team instructions and player instructions work might be wrong. Its not meant as a criticism but it could explain why you aren't getting your wingbacks performing the way you want. In fact in FM24 wingbacks and defensive wingers are very strong roles, and some of the most attacking and defensively resilient systems are back 5 ones at the moment. The 5221 is incredibly strong atm, and I just want to avoid using it cos its just feels like its too OP. Here I am using a 532 with two attacking wingbacks, this goal is finished off my wingback on the left who is played in by my BBM.
  2. I tend to use trap inside whenever I am playing a narrow diamond, that way i shuffle opposition players into the centre instead of allowing them to get into 2v1 situations with my fullbacks
  3. If you are the kind of manager that can turn things around and win, produce results, then you can ignore players. If you are the kind of manager who cannot win a title within 3 seasons, then you have to react to the masses and accept that their unhappiness needs to be handled. There are so many interactions you can avoid in the game. I pick the battles I want to fight in, not all the battles that are in the game.
  4. Probably very restrictive. Its only in one country, you have a high min potential rating and your club reputation may also preclude a lot of targets. You might find 1-2 five stars once every 2 seasons, I doubt you are going to find that many with such a restrictive search
  5. To tag on cause this is a feedback thread after all. 8. Mentoring is flawed we are getting clones of players showing similar hidden attributes after being welcomed. 9. Training and development might be borked while some players are developing well. I have noticed some players hitting their PA in less than 5 seasons. This might be by design as others seem to be a bit slower, but a lot of the gains seem to be focused on mental and physical attributes. There can be drops in technical attributes or stalls there. A save by me was uploaded and it’s something I am paying a lot of attention to. 10. I am scoring bangers from outside the area and conceding dodgy throw in goals when up against systems that play wide with wingers. There does seem to be a lot of highlights that start as a throw in and finish as a goal for either me or the AI. 11. On imported saves you can sometimes end up playing on 3D and both teams have the same coloured jerseys. If you check 2d, the colors are contrasted red and white, On 3D both are white.
  6. @Batigoal__Probably best raising that as a feature request. @Mik_FeApplies to the roles irrespective of the duty.
  7. Like the others have said, it depends on a lot of factors. There is no such thing as the best setting. When in doubt I will always suggest don’t pick these options. All instructions in the game are situationally good against different setups and it requires experimentation and learning Let’s say I was playing a 433 with attacking wingers and an AF. In defence I could opt for an NCD\BPD combo and a DLP in front. If I see a team with IFs coming against me and I have great defenders I might invite the cross and trap outside, knowing I will draw their fullbacks higher exposing their flanks. From this point onwards there will be a lot of “ifs”. If I can force them wide, will they change roles? if I can win the headers can I launch direct counters? If my defenders don’t concede corners am I safe? If I concede corners then I have set pieces to contend with it. Is it worth the risk? Situationally it could be great if the team isn’t that good. It’s a feature of the game that can be very good to use, but you need to be constantly paying attention to any change in role duty or formation. These instructions help you funnel the play, you could for example create a system that’s a mid block, inviting crosses and trapping outside in the hope that your wingers can race off and hit on the counter. It’s a great way to play but if the AI swaps to a 325 in attack you could be overwhelmed. You will need experience using this, and I don’t recommend people use this if they have to ask what roles are good with different cross engagement strategies. It is great for those who enjoy comprehensive highlights, evil for those who play on key highlights and absolutely the worst option for people who don’t know how mentality shifts the 6 main settings in the game.
  8. Cross engagement is about how your players position themselves, and pressing traps is about how your team funnels attacks. That is basically it. If you want to do what you are doing, then there will be space in central areas, players will be wider, opposition inside forwards can make runs inside, since the positioning is being affected by your Cross Engagement instruction. What happens to your mids and attackers depends very much on the roles you have chosen.
  9. You should have seen my latest stream I used defensive wingers and showed how I would use them. They not only tore up defenses but were on more than one occasion players who were not only scoring but creating goals. The defensive winger is immensely underrated. I have been using him in my back 3 systems for quite a while now. If you are want them to press high then they will but you need to depend on those WCBs to be first line in case u get exposed. I also showed how I would use a trap inside to help If your centre backs are slow but have great mentals I would still give it a try.
  10. The defensive winger is an aggressive winger, and under some circumstances it can put pressure on the backline, however in your set up against some formations that would be too risky. Against a 4231 there are multiple threats, I actually used your formation, but I had to change the defensive line and apply the PI take more risks and go down byeline to cross to TM to get the DW to apply pressure on opposing wingbacks. This however, only happens during a counterpress, when your side has just lost the ball. Using the same formation you are using, the DW during a counter press did close down the fullback once the AI decided to try and pass out from the back. However when it comes to preventing them from taking the short gk, it will depend on the formation you are up against. In this match I am playing against a 4231. If the DW goes to sit on the opposing fullback their winger will always be free. Here my defensive winger is number 77 and is he in a good position not too close to the opposing fullback, and he does not create a problem for the WCB, by pushing too high. This positioning is important because if the DW is needs to block the passing lane to the Winger, because you could be hurt by a cross diagonal ball. This is an example of what I mean, if the DW no 77 does not cut out the fullback from making the pass then we get a dangerous cross diagonal ball. Here my DW using your tactic with adjusted player instructions and team instructions does a fairly decent job of shutting down their fullback. Whenever I use DW, i look to play higher up the pitch with a higher defensive line if I want them to put pressure on opposing wingbacks. In most cases, the DW will always position himself between the fullback and the winger in a 4231, he won't sit tight to the winger, because this could leave them exposed. You are also using two rather defensive minded roles that will not venture too far forward in the DM tier, so I think you could try pushing up your defensive line, providing your CDs are good mentally, otherwise like the others have suggested play a system with wingers, whose zones will naturally include fullbacks and wingbacks.
  11. I did a halfback video on my channel where I explained the few ways a halfback can move in the game. If he is playing as part of a double dm system he will drop back and act like a wide centreback in build up play. With the right roles like a WM with sit narrow or an IW who will play narrower in midfield. With the halfback dropping Deép a WM IW or a WP in the central midfield could all come inside.
  12. Playing 3DMs can be fun I like sticking up an Enganche and have 2 strikers in front as well. Seeing those Volante surge up and use the Enganche to generate attacks is a lot of fun to watch.
  13. Basically they kinda work together in setting a trap. They affect the whole team too. When you use cross engagement like stop cross you will see your players on the flank adjust themselves going slightly wider to block lanes along the flanks. This makes it harder to create easy crossing chances. This is meant to encourage opposing sides to look elsewhere, like inside, and this is how the traps then can work. So if you were to stop cross and trap inside your players will look to allow play to funnel inside where they can look to wait for triggers. Trap inside will naturally then create counter attacking chances through the middle. Say you were playing against a team that had wingers who were playing on the flank opposite their preferred foot, I would be wary about stop cross, since it could leave more space in the middle for them to attack.
  14. I did an explanation of how you can defend as a 442 and attack in a narrow configuration like a box in this thread. It is possible, the way roles position themselves, you will generally only see them go narrow in the midfield transition. If u are aiming to do the same thing on FM22 u can’t. You would need to set up a box 442.
  15. Generally you only criticise player performances if they are below 6.3. As far as ratings go a 6.3 and higher is meeting expectations 7 and higher would be exceeding expectations.
  16. Worth reading @XaWresponse. Ultimately, its what you are comfortable with. on Fm24 the same save which has 120k players loaded and 40 leagues takes me 48% less time to process than on FM23. To me it translates to taking 50 secs to go from one week to the next while on Fm23 it would have taken me more than a 1 min. You will find that on FM24 leagues with more detail are now processing more effectively than on FM23. And my rig shows this as 1 star. That one star is merely a recommendation, what you need to do on your end is to assess whether that speed is fine for you. When I am testing tactics only I only load one league and it takes me 10 mins to sim a season, but thats not how I play the game. What do you want to do with the game? Check out the benchmarking threads on the forum from FM23, they will give you an indication of how things run for people on different rigs.
  17. If you are camping and have control of the third, the IFB will sometimes go down the flank to drop a cross
  18. You need to recreate the schedules for FM24. Then export them and then you can import them for FM24
  19. These rotations are vertical, during a transition phase, one role will move vertically up while another will make space for that role. If you have two roles like a Libero and a halfback you could see one role move up while another comes down. Apart from that, rotations don't shifted horizontally. Generally you start by reading the description of the role, which I am sure you have done, then we look at the duty of each role which suggest somewhat how attacking its going to be. Finally I would pay attention to the attributes, a RPM is more likely to move around the pitch and do rotations compared to another role like a Regista which if you check their attributes don't have physical attributes listed as key to the role. Ultimately it takes time and practice to identify them for yourself which is generally the best thing to do. Everyone learns by trying different things. The changes to positional play will impact roles somewhat, however, good tactics that were well thought out will still work in the current game. I think in this edition there is better "space management" by other roles when "rotational roles" move around. Some might think that congested narrow systems might be forced into space with the new changes, but actually that's not really true. Narrow attacking systems like the Xmas tree, 4312 and the 442 Diamond are fun to play now too.
  20. The changes to the match engine are simply the best, the positional play just requires people to pay attention to how different roles operate, where they go. It’s so good it’s turned my streams into an endless festival of creating different tactics. I am certain people will enjoy them once they give it the game a good run out.
  21. If you want him to drop very deep, you might have two choices. A trait like comes deeper which will only make it a tendency or the role of a Trequartista. Though I haven’t tried a TQ yet, that would be an assumption.
