  1. XaW - Marine FC - Season 2024/25 (Season 1) - Vanarama National League North Squad | Transfers | Finances Well now, that's quite the surprise. I had expected to struggle, because you know, no goalkeepers! Turns out, the grey ones are apparently poor, but not horrible. The grey ones usually got about 6.5 every match and conceded a few poor goals, but it was a body in front of goal at least. The season started off as I had expected, some wins, some draws, and a couple of losses, but then we found a form I did not expect. During a very busy October, we played 6 league matches and won all. And suddenly we were part of a battle for the top of the table. And it just continued like that. Our main threat was South Shields, who were excellent all season round. We had a bit of a drop in December with a few poor matches, but then hit back after newyears. Going into the final months, We were a few points ahead of South Shields, with Halifx and Fylde a little while back, but not too far away for them to cause trouble. With 4 games left it was rather obvious that it would be either South Shields or us who would win. The 3rd to last game we faced them away and lost 2-1 to narrow the gap to just two points in our favour. Luckily, we had quite easy teams in the final two matches. First we beat Buxton at home and we were up 5-0 at half time! In hte 2nd half we dropped off and won 5-1, but South Shields also won. This meant it was all down to the last matchday. We would probably just need a draw because of our goal difference, but a win would guarantee it. We had an away match to an already relegated Kettering, while South Shields faced Chester at home. We got an early lead and increased it until 3-0 at half time and it looked all good for the title. Then 2nd turned into a madness that had a pen, a red card and 8(!) more goals. Just one of those mad games where you don't know what can happen! Luckily, we won it 7-4 to play one of the most memorable final matchday games ever. It also meant we had won the title! FA Cup: We beat Hertford, Hereford, Halifax, Harrogate, and Forest Green before we lost to Portsmouth in the 3rd round. Quite the run, but unfortunately, we didn't face a PL giant. FA Trophy: We beat Chester before we lost to Accrington Stanley in the 3rd round. Best players from the academy: David Overton 25a - Got a few matches after he came through as our only goalkeeper and played quite bad. At least he will be the first (and only) choice next season! Vicente Couñago 25d - Injuries and fitness made me give him some appearances as a sub. Juwan Francis 25l - Got a single sub appearance due to injuries. New club records: Most goals in a season - Manassé Mampala - 40 goals Most league goals in a season - Manassé Mampala - 32 goals Most goals in a match - Manassé Mampala - 4 goals Most goals in a league match - Manassé Mampala - 4 goals Most assists in a season - Joseph Ferguson - 20 assists Most player of the match awards in a season - Manassé Mampala - 10 awards Worst discipline - Joseph Ferguson - 23 yellow, 1 red card Most league apps - Jordan Lussey - 126 apps Most league goals - Sol Solomon - 37 goals Youngest player - Vicente Couñago 25d - 15 years, 187 days Oldest player - Jon Routledge - 35 years, 0 days Fastest goalscorer - Manassé Mampala - 1 minute, 6 seconds Youngest goalscorer - Alex Payton - 17 years, 338 days Oldest goalscorer - Jon Routledge - 34 years, 359 days The board seems quite easy to ask for upgrades, so I got a few this season. Also, we are expanding the stadium due to league requirements after the promotion. U18s They finished 7th in the National U18 League North West this season. FA Youth Cup: They beat Duston and Liversedge before they lost to Doncaster in the 3rd qualifying round. 2. Oh, I know how software development works, don't worry. What I don't understand is why you are bothered by it or how it affects you specifically?
  3. Now you've lost me. Why is it so important to you that they up the version number of the database instead of just using additional files to update the game? I just don't get it? What difference does it make to you?
  4. I shouldn't use anything, I'm not employed by SI. The announcement clearly says Database 24.3 Including the text: So yes, it's quite obvious, I'd say.
  5. I assume they used dbc-files instead of pushing a new database version, as they've done several times before. How does this impact you in any way? Why are you so cross about it?
  6. So close! You'll get it next season @glennuk!
  7. I would advise you to. There have been people in here who have missed this before and suddenly had to stop when they are stopped from going into the top tier... Not a good time.
  8. Nah, that only happens if the link is: "Playing in the same division will terminate the link between (...)" Those teams are fine, the ones that prohibit the other teams will not be cancelled as they are for all intents and purposes a B-team, just like this:
  9. That might be true, but look at the affiliate info "The terms of this deal will prevent Roda from playing in the same division as Villarreal". So you cannot get to the top tier...
  10. I'd use him as a CM-A in my tactic...
  11. You can loan OUT players as much as you want, but not IN, to be clear.
  12. I haven't tried this for a while now, but it should be enough to set it up like this: Then you should see it as you would with the league you manage in.
  13. Depends on your team and tactical preference. Here is the forum for tactical discussions: https://community.sigames.com/forums/forum/19-tactics-training-strategies-discussion/ You can read in there to get some inspiration, if you like. Personally I prefer a 4-3-3 DM Wide.
  14. I think it's more of being thorough about it. A few of those fan made updates are good for transfers and such, but for attributes they are all over the place usually. And this is not to be negative to the ones doing it, but it's really hard to both gauge all the attributes on every player, but also make sure that people don't over- or under-appraise based on preference or simply not understanding the scale the same way. Making sure that a 10 is the same in the English leagues, the Chinese, the Canadian, and the Icelandic for example? How high do you rate an average strength? And I also know that the researchers for SI test the game a lot to see if the players _act_ as close to real life too. I know @santy001 has made comments about this before, as it's not enough to make the attributes what seems fine, but it's also fine-tuning them to behave as you want in terms of traits and how they link with the attributes. Fan updates cannot be asked to do the same, and I don't think anyone expect them too, but that also mean that it goes slower with the official updates. As for communication, I totally agree, more is better, in my view. And I've said my piece before about how I think the game needs to fix more issues and polish current systems much more than any new feature. But even so, I don't think the game is broken in any way, at least not in my experience. Issues and bugs, certainly, but nothing game breaking. Things that kill immersion at times are the worst ones for me.
  15. If you have issues with the update to the players in the Turkish league, then you need to post it here: https://community.sigames.com/bugtracker/football-manager-2024-early-access-bugs-tracker/database-and-research/turkey-data-issues/
  16. You can use the "Screen Flow" screen in the preferences to set up how you want to be updated for all types of competitions. It's not as easy to understand as I would like, so you might have to try it and change it to get it as you want, but the feature is there. I made a post about it in a thread I made a while back about under-used features of the game: Have a look in there.
  17. I have my doubts! This is all I got, so I just gotta hold on until the intake, because I think I'm guaranteed at least one goalkeeper then, however bad!
  18. Turns out, I found another team! One big issue? No goalkeepers!! So I have to trust the greys for the most of the season, will it work? No idea, but I'll try! Here we go!
  19. They updated the 24.3 database, so it's in there as additional files rather than a new database version.
  20. With the update coming along and me just a few games into the save, I'm going to restart, still in England though. Will see if Folkestone pops up again or if any other team tempt me first.
  21. You give your age when you first start the game, but it's entirely on the user being honest though.
  22. Would kids get targeted ads for gambling though? Honest question, as I would think any ad company would exclude that as a targeted ad? Not my area of experise mind.
