  1. That's pretty much it apart from a lot of luck. Still waiting for my 1st son.
  2. We aren't talking about stamina or condition though. The issue is fatigue/jadedness which is something that can be helped with a good pre-season. I will say that I haven't had any of these issues, but I will also admit that the tactics I use have about 67% intensity, so it's not as intense as, I imagine, others' tactics are.
  3. Pay attention to how you do pre-season training. A good pre-season can ensure players can last a tough season.
  4. He will already have some tendency to cut in onto his stronger foot. Having the trait will make him want to cut in more often than running wide. Player Traits takes preference over instructions. Your question is about what he will do and there I am not sure. If he's getting covered well by a defender (which depends on how you've set up) then it might make it difficult to do what he'll naturally want to do. As it is a W/A, it will depend on where/when he receives the ball. If he has space, he'll want to cut in and should be successful in doing so. Deeper into the final third, it might become more difficult.
  5. I use the same formation as you and this is my lone forward - He's not a big game player, as you can see in his CL performances, but he's been brilliant in the league.
  6. I don't think your striker is the issue. I think that you don't have anyone really supplying him. The AP could do it if you're in a quick transition, but that's about it. The rest of the time he's going to be too deep to supply him and will rather look toward one of the flanks. Your IFs will also be more focused on scoring.
  7. I don't use counter press ever, so I can't comment. I would imagine it entirely depends on just how you're setting up though. Don't just change that one instruction. Here's an example of what I do. I've managed a few teams in my career and every time, I set up tactics for them. I've had 424s, 352s, 4231s, 442s and 442 diamonds so far. At my current club, I've now changed to a 4132 for the last 2 seasons (I've managed them for 5) as it matched the current squad better. Here's my normal tactic that I will use in 95% of my matches: This is a creative and technical team who can rip apart most teams I face. If I want to see the game out or I have a tough match coming up that I am not confident in, I'll swap to this, though it has been modified a couple of times and I'm still not very happy with it: The shape is similar, but one fullback is more defensive and won't take part too much in transitions and attacks. It's a 4 man team that watches a quick attacking opposition. The other fullback bombs forward as there should be space to push into aggressively. The key is that I have a much more defensive set of players here. Pedro is a centreback/fullback hybrid and so is Janssen. Gavrilovic is a tank at DM. The other three midfielders (two of them shifted into new positions) are all defensively solid with Strength and Tackling above 13 and that includes the CM/A. The CM/A is probably the biggest change. I switch from a 8 Tackling, 9 Positioning, 7 Aggression and 12 Strength player to someone with 13, 14, 10 and 13 for those same attributes. Next season, I am going to use Bossard there (who you can see can even play as a striker) and he has 12 Tackling, 10 Positioning, 20 Aggression, 19 Bravery, 17 Anticipation and 13 Strength. He's also a decent finisher, so he can do it all, really. The DLF is also different. Yates is faster than Esposito and a better finisher with fantastic Anticipation, something that is useful on the counter. Obviously you can sub this many player within a game, which is when I use this the most, just to see out the last 15 mins. I tend to sub on the more defensive left back (as he's a lot better and bigger from a defensive point of view) and the CM/A spot. I usually just have 2 subs left by that time. It's just an example of what I change and it's not always the same things. Sometimes I drop the LoE too or I'll drop to Balanced Mentality. I also only do it if a fear their attack will overpower my original tactic, which is not that often. You can argue that I got lucky, but being 1-0 up from the first leg, I used this in the second (away) leg against a very strong (better than mine) Juve team and I scraped by. I created the only CCC, restricted them to poor chances on the whole and a lot of off target shots. As you can see from who scored and assisted, they're not my usual starters either, so we were a little under strength but this was a cup match.
  8. This, so much. I think this is often overlooked. Take off the little playmaker or the tiny fullback and bring on a tank. It works wonders.
  9. Don't use an ultra defensive tactic. It invites far too much pressure. By all means, dial things down, but don't go all out defensive. Change a couple of Attack Duties to Support. Lower the LoE and D-Line a little. Press less. There's lots of different ways to be more defensive and keep your shape.
  10. That instruction would not be very effective as jostling isn't in the game yet.
  11. I also remember that thread. Here's what the manual says about Tempo and Time Wasting, conveniently (well, it's alphabetical) following each other in it: So, it shouldn't affect players on the ball. Could be worth testing though, as Johnny says.
  12. Still depends on whether there's room to grow. I've bought 21 year old players who never improved much at all. Some of my players who are now 27-30 years old haven't improved very much. Likely because they have already reached their potential. I've even had a 24yo with 5 star potential who never improved at all, again I assume, because he'd already reached his potential. I have a 27 year old who has had this much improvement in the three seasons (25-27 years old): I wouldn't expect players at 25 or 26 to improve a lot, but that's not to say they can't improve at all. It depends on whether there's room to grow (CA < PA).
  13. If he keeps developing, yes. Regardless of what a youngster's potential is rated at, watch his development. You can have a 5 star potential wonderkid, but if his development stops, that opinion of is potential is likely wrong.
  14. It can be the other way around too. With your scouts watching the player, his form will affect their judgment as well. Usually, the talented youngster we target should be performing well, so a player can be overrated a little. When they player arrives at your club, your Assistant Manager doesn't know the player (yet) and he/she has not seen him play, so there's no form to judge the player on.
  15. Yeah, I would say so. Ideally, report it and upload a copy of your save so that the situation can be easily reproduced. SI can then look into it under the hood to see what's going on.
  16. Ah yes, I see. It is an indication of their interest in the role (hover your mouse and a tooltip will appear to indicate this) so something is off there.
  17. A player or two who is inconsistent isn't necessarily the end of the world. He'll/They'll still have a consistent (or at least, not inconsistent) team around him/them. Having 8 out of 11 inconsistent players could pose issues.
  18. Your screenshots don't show whether (or how much) the staff member is interested in a Sports Scientist job. It only shows that they're very interested in being a Physio, so it seems strange that they wouldn't negotiate.
  19. It needs to be added that it's not just from playing matches. Performing consistently well could see Consistency increase. It's also possible that Consistency can decrease.
  20. Why start a discussion topic if you're not prepared to discuss it? A few people have made points and given reasoning for what you're seeing. Like I stated, it could be because they play the most, so will be the most fatigued/tired and lowest condition so at more risk of injury. There's often a match practice session on a thursday, which is just before a match on the weekend, so could aid in producing injuries. Can we continue the discussion?
  21. Neither finishing nor long shots are used for a free kick. Composure was mentioned w.r.t. penalties. Edit: Here's the link: Free Kick and Penalty Taking Attribute - Football Manager General Discussion - Sports Interactive Community
