  1. Usually a combination of two famous footballers from the particular nation.
  2. I think the problem with this has always been that everybody has a different answer, depending on who you speak to. I always go with a large player pool because, like you, I love to see regens pop up in the more obscure nations, especially with the odd chance of a really quality player coming up from somewhere like Mayotte or Tonga. So for that reason, I use a custom database option and try to load around 120-150k players. The game then (to my knowledge) tries to keep the world at around this figure by having more regens generate around the world. I usually do this but only have about 5 or 6 nations loaded (England, France, Italy, Spain, Germany and then usually whatever nation I'm playing in) However, I've heard some people say (and I'm watching a Bust The Net video right now where he says exactly this) that the above just bloats the game, and there's no point in having that many players when you have so few leagues, because then players aren't developing as well as the rest of the world aren't processing proper matches etc, and so he and they will always recommend maybe slightly less players, but loading more leagues to improve player development and better transfer market performance etc. So I suppose I'm not really helping answer the question when I say it, but it's really just a case of trial and error and doing what is right for you for each particular save
  3. If his football career doesn't take off, he could probably get a job down the building site...
  4. That's him in save I was playing. Had him for a season before he went to Juve for £18m, played 10 games there and then went to RB Leipzig. I've included his injury history in a panel. He gets injured a fair bit, but its mostly 2-3 weeks, he's had no major injuries in 3 completed seasons
  5. As an update, we reached the end of season 3. As we were approaching mid season, I was offered the chance to change expectations, both options coming with further reducing our transfer budget. Got to the end of the season, £50m in the black and our budget is now -£13.9m and the board will not discuss adjustments. So I'm resigned to a new save and the realisation that either it's a bug or the feature not working as intended.
  6. I'll start with the caveat that this is not necessarily a bug, it might be me misunderstanding how the feature is implement and it might resolves itself at the end of the coming (third) season however: Currently managing Hertha Berlin, started with the 'original' database option and first window transfer activity turned off. The club has some debt, so I ended the first season around £20m in the red but managed to somewhat claw it back after promotion. Start of the third season now and as the screenshot shows, we have £34m in the bank currently. However, throughout the entirety of the save we've had a negative transfer budget which runs from the pictures £9.9m and has been as high as around £13m. It seems to fluctuate, despite the fact that I can't spend any money. The problem I'm now having and as I've pictured, is that the board will not give us any transfer budget and completely refuses to negotiate this point. The "guaranteed budget" for next season is £0 and has been for the duration of the save. So I'm limited to free signings, but only free signings where I can negotiate £0 for both signing on and agent fees, which limits me options a little too. I'm not sure if this is something that would be considered a bug, whether the negative transfer budget feature isn't working as intended, or if we finish this season in the black, which we should, things will maybe resolve themselves? Figured I'd put it here just in case!
  7. Oh damn, I didn't know that. Must have something about him then! He's no interest in joining my team (Hertha) which is now probably understandable tbf. If we get promoted and he's not moved, I'll be asking again
  8. Not seen him mentioned yet, and I don't believe he's a regen but potentially one of those random PA/CA players. Will be looking to sign him if possible, he looks ridiculous
  9. Continue playing the Sporting Lisbon beta save, I only started it yesterday and I doubt the main release is going to change all that much for me
  10. I'm really intrigued by the 'detail level' screen which I hadn't really considered before. I already play with a custom database to try and get as many players in the game as possible, but it'll be interesting to see what impact DL has. I've changed it so that all continental club comps and more of the international tournaments have higher level of detail now
  11. The only bug I've encountered, but is unfortunately common, is the game will randomly crash to desktop during matches or during process. Sometimes it generates a crash dump, sometimes it doesn't, but I've reported it and awaiting response. Other than that, the beta really does feel pretty polished.
  12. Just to update that this is still happening. I have more crash dump files that I can upload, too.
  13. I think it's one that's coming up a lot but figured it was only right that I follow the process and report. I was having issues with the game crashing to desktop during matches, however that has now switched to the game crashing to desktop whilst processing from one day to the next. This has also happened when setting the game to go on holiday until the next match day. I've attached the dmp files and the screenshots that the game saved with them. 5a59d45c-5016-40b8-994d-80045130822d.dmp 27d506b4-3f69-45be-ac90-a4dc84567e49.dmp 9956bc6d-a3e7-4a7a-a140-715a757ad1d9.dmp
  14. Had to load up one of my old saves with RC Luxembourg. We'd started to produce some really good players, but he was by far the best.
  15. Konami are very, very protective over their J-League licence. I think they have an exclusive deal with E-Football/PES whatever they're calling themselves at the moment, as well as obviously the Winning Eleven franchise in Japan. I'm going to assume it's potentially a cost restriction for SI/FM but that's purely an assumption on my part, however I can imagine they probably want a stupid amount of money to include the league, which in all honestly probably wouldn't be an amount that justifies its inclusion in the game, as much as I'd like it in.
  16. I could be wrong, but I think it will have an impact on the amount of regens being generated, at least over time. I think I'm right in saying that the number of leagues running is a bigger impact on performance than the number of players, because the game needs to simulate the results in detail for the user, so if you remove the tier below as you progress, you should gradually see the processing speed increase. And as you remove more of the lower leagues, you'll have significantly less players over time, so that should doubly help
  17. Kazuyoshi Miura still playing at 56. Obviously FM is broken and super unrealistic. Fix this SI!!!! Or something.
  18. Nope, we've not really signed anybody except two young Scottish players. Ended up holidaying a bit towards the end of the season and it's only went up to £28k a few months later, but between that and "non football costs" also jumping up by £11k, it's a wee bit ****!
  19. Whilst not at the same level as yours, I'm currently managing in the Scottish lower leagues and having been promoted from the East of Scotland Premier to the Lowland league, so still a promotion away from the football pyramid, and our 'other' expenses have almost tripled....and it's not even midway through December yet. We spent £8k on 'other' last season, and we've spent £22k on 'other' by the 13th of December.
  20. Been out of the loop for a little while, but great to see you're still making so much progress with this. Starting to get those countries ticked off now! Fair play to you for sticking with it. I'm on season 13 of a long term project save and it's starting to get to the point where I'm struggling to keep motivated, I envy you!
  21. We're getting there. Board aren't entertaining any more upgrades at this point. 10 seasons in and it's starting to get a bit boring, my striker has just finished the season on 100 goals in all competitions. Which you'd think would be fun, but it's not. Plan was always to start producing the goods through the academy, so it might be time to go academy only and see how we get on, but trying to balance the domestic dominance with trying to progress in Europe, get the rankings up and hope some of our league rivals actually starting doing something worthwhile.
  22. I'm currently trying to do it with Luxembourg but it's definitely a long term project depending on the nation you choose. It's been fairly straightfoward with the club, 7 titles in 8 seasons. Regularly in the group stages (well, league stage now) of European competitions and we have some really good players and good facilities coming along, but it's trying to get the rest of the league up that requires a lot of work and is what holds up back. As a general rule I don't stand in the way of middling players from my club going to league rivals and when we've got a bit more money I'll start buying players from rivals (not their best players) to try and fund them a bit more and drag the league up. League is currently ranked 52nd in Europe, but that's up from 80th or so at the start
  23. One love United. Love it. Off to Dominica next then eh? Interesting move and seems like we're at the point where we're moving up in the world.
  24. Just to touch on this, do you know (I'm not asking for statistically backed factual data) just how important/beneficial the hiring of better coaching staff would be, particularly at lower leave/weaker teams? I'm steadily improving both sets of facilities here in Luxembourg but have always skimped on staff to save costs. We've got £16m in the bank and don't really spend on players, so I'm wondering if it's worth breaking my self enforced wage barrier to bring in some significantly better coaches? (Most coaches will want more than my better players earn, for example). The more I think about it, the more I think it's clearly obvious that having better coaching staff would be obviously beneficial, but I wasn't sure if that would be negated by having ****** facilities?
  25. Lots of solid advice so far, however to answer your question as directly as possible: 1) Gegenpressing 443DM Wide. For my additional two cents: I find Gegenpressing 4231 DM Wide - with the DM's switched to CM's to be the king for me so far. Gegenpressing stock tactics seem to be somewhat OP out of the box for me. Like you, I don't necessarily enjoy tactics all that much as I generally tend to drop in and out of football and as a result really don't always understand the best way to make an effective tactic, so I will often just opt for a gegenpress default and fiddly a little bit if I feel like I need to (making roles a bit more simple if lower league, dropping from attacking/positive to balanced or whatever)
