I sometime chance to Control or defensive 442 if the opposition puts pressure. Also 4-2-4 has never been problem with me. I just use OI to "close down allways" the MCs, its enough.

Result will come = We are far and away the superior side so as long as you play in the manner you are capable, we'll win this.

Half-Time

Encourage = We've played well, but with a little more effort we can make sure of the result

Pleased = You've done far better than expected. Well done boys and keep it up.

Delighted = Unbelievable performance. Beyond my wildest dreams.

No team talk = You've done about as well as expected

For the fans = Keep it professional and get the result

Disappointed = You aren't playing well. Sort it out.

Angry = Totally unacceptable performance. Pull your fingers out or else

Don't let your performance drop = You haven't played well but are leading. Make sure they don't get back into this

These are supplemented by a few slightly different options that mean almost the same thing, but appear in different scenarios:

We can win this = With a little more effort and luck, we can grab a win here

See more from you = You are losing because you aren't putting enough effort in

Get a result = You have put next to no effort in and deserve to be losing. However, this is no excuse and I expect a big performance second half.

Unlucky not to be winning = You have played far better than I expected and should be leading. Keep it up and we can win this.

Don't get complacent = You are winning, but not putting enough effort in. I want you to work harder this half

You can then use the individual team talks to cover players who are doing far better/worse than the team average.

To know what to say, you have to look at the context of the match, the make up of your squad and its relationship with you, your own reputation, morale and motivation feedback and individual player performances. A raw and ungelled squad will often need different feedback than a match hardened bunch that have played together for years. Being 2-0 up at home to West Brom is far different than being 2-0 away at the Arsenal, and should be treated so. Telling a determined squad to be professional or buck their ideas up will work, whereas telling a more flaky one will backfire, with greater degrees of encouragement being required.

If you look at post 4 you can see type of players being used and positions. The Chelsea squad is flexible and the strikers range from Rossi Anelka ad Drogba and midfield Lampard Ballack Deco Essien, and the positions can be switched if this suits your squad. The tactic performs in its mirror image form for both midfield and strikers.

I usually use Rossi on right Drogba on left, there is no Target Man ticked and No HUB so interchangeable.

If you wish to compare pre and post patch, my baseline tests with 9.1 patch indicated an average tactic should make 90pts with Chelsea, the same tests in 9.2 showed a drop to 85pts.

You can try but for me it doesn't work. It seems to be too complicated for my players and defensive aspects are horrible for me.

Interesting that you think a tactic with the best attacking and defensive record by a mile is horrible.

The tactics include a team tactic which as stated may be more useful for lower leagues.

I don't use it anyway Have mine own tactic but while testing I noticed that defenders doesn't work with each other ;p It doesn't happened with my tactic where my defensive line is a monolith. But it may be caused by my defending style (nike style) and my players just got used to it. It can be good for high profile teams but for decent teams it doesn't work (unless you will buy some players to cover MCd playmaker and box to box midfielder), also it's not my style of playing, I prefer slow tempo etc. and my players just can't fit to your tactic =] Anyway, you should try to watch 2-3 matches on full instead of using holiday to test tactic, then you will know what is wrong with defensive line (and if you really want to go holiday, try with decent team - best of the league, but decent league)

Is the no loss 442 tactic just for top teams (I'm Juventus after 5 seasons so would think this suitable) - I've got the tactic from the first link.

And...I know I've asked you this before...but are you working on a new 4222 tactic for 9.2 - absolutely loved that for 9.1 where my Man City team played like a beast sitting on a marmelade crouton!

I use 107 PTS NOHUHUBRWB tactic. It works pretty well with Newcastle. (9.2.0) Which tactic is better??? What is the difference among 3 tactics ( 107 PTS, 101 PTS and 98 PTS) ?

Look on yourself ;] I just said this tactic isn't completed and has really big lacks in defensive and I don't care that you didn't lose with Chelsea as you said you can win EPL with Chelsea using standard tactic. I just told you should make some deep testing to make it batter and you started bulling on me ;x

great tactic from what i can see, im playing some great football with an average hull city side.

My only problem/question is, I struggle to close games out? ie ill be 2-1 up, and ill change to go more defnsive more time wasting drop defensive line etc etc standard things

BUT it allways allways backfires

They all work with Chelsea so should work with Arsenal. I would go for the high scoring first, as I think talented players can explot this tactic more than other tactics.

Great tactic(s), Knap :thup:

I am currently managing Spurs. Had a good start using your 101 pts tactic, but changed to your 99 pts tactic for ungelled sides as my Spurs-side was at best low gelled.

Now I am occupying 2nd place in the leauge, having played 16 games.

I beat Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool in the leauge, and I most say that these results are awesome when considering that my Spurs side is almost purely filled with new players.

Tried to upload a screenie of my results and leauge table, but failed...

Anyway, keep up the good work!

Being a Spurs fan that's good news. The 9.1 team tactic managed a 2nd place with Spurs. I'm amazed how good the team tactics are in FM09, as in FM08 they could only manage 90pts.

knap, I'm going to try using the GKnap442Patch9.2-98ptsNo Loss tactic with Lyon. Below is what I'm thinking the setup should be for my team, what do you think? If you notice, I put the Milevskyi on the left as you suggest putting strong forwards there, is this correct?

The tactic is flexible with regard to strikers and MC. If you prefer you can set tactic up as a mirror image of original. The tactic can therefore be set up to suit your squad or the opposition for each match, or you could use a mirror tactic to confuse AI. I do not go into that much detail but TheBetterHalf uses mirror tactics.

Working on 4222 at moment but I may have switched strikers mentality between the 101pts and 98pts.

You're right about the strikers. It would be more logical to have the fast one on the left as he makes more forward runs. What do you think of the rest of the team setup? Do you have any other suggestions in regards to it? I was also thinking of bringing in a left footed ML in order to get more crossing from that side, because right now I have Sanchez playing there and he is right footed.

I'm using the 99pts patch 9.2 tactic on FC Dallas of the MLS - so pretty mediocre and not gelled team, results so far have been immediately impressive. I am conceding goals (winning 3-2 / 2-1 etc..) but scoring and creating so much more than the opposition. It helps a lot that my MCa is now getting high ratings again and adding goals. With some improvements to my player quality, which I have the budget for, it should be even stronger.
