FM22 - Financial question (Friendlies [Fee/Income])

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen!

   I played a lot in CM03/04, FM08/11/16/18/20/22 and frankly, I'm ashamed that I can't figure out myself the specific situation that happened the other day in my save. A few words about save - i am managing only semi pro teams, keeping all control in my hands directly and trying to bring them to next level. Currently - a small team Víkingur O. from Iceland. A part of my efforts is to maximize team dynamics/sharpness/player growth/extra finances so i tend to arrange frendlies a lot for youth/trials/sub players (76 last season).
   So near beginning of a new season a much bigger professional club from sweden came with offer that you can see on 1st screenshot.
Note: I didn't arrange this friendly, they offered it, i just accepted. Of course, I was very happy about the prospect of making a profit of 28K euros (1/2 of my budget at that time), so i gladly accepted it, rubbing sweaty palms. 
Note: 2nd screenshot shows balance 4 days before match.
  After time passed we played this game and i've found out that my balance suffered huge loss (3rd screenshot).  Note: It was a homematch for me. BUT Council posses stadium, my team is homeless. I tried to figure out what caused this loss, and since expenditure tab doesn't show much (item called "Other" in table) i canceled this friendly in shedule and choose an option to rearrange it on same date. What i've seen is that in this case FEE ~36k euros and INCOME is ~8k which makes overall -28k for my team. Makes sence, right?

So according to this situation i have questions, and wish someone smart can enlighten my mind.

   1) Is it some sort of UI bug in FM22? As you can see in 1st screenshot - INCOME says +28K, i always thought that INCOME is smth that i can get +/- around that summ. But not a spendings.
   2) If it is not a bug, how can i predict how friendly match will affect my balance? As can remember in FM20 (managed Lisburn Distillery, N.Ireland) i was offered friendlies by big clubs a few times (Celtic and Newcastle) and after this matches balance increased significantly (tickets + all of other stuff). And through 20+ seasons there i've never experienced such thing against more stronger teams, especially at homematches. Usually offer said just FEE +summ INCOME 0 for away match and i understood that opponent just give me cash for match with no tickets addings and no match losses (only money spent on travel).
   3) I mostly focus on home friendlies. But what if i try away games? I mean most of them show FEE 1K INCOME 1K. Does this mean i am at zero? Or there might be more financial profit/losses? Mainly against lower league clubs of course.

In my experience the Home team always pays the "income" too the away side team.. If you play away against them you get the 28k... if you play home against them you get gate reciepts and pay them the 28k. I usually play away friendly matches as a semi-pro team because of this. I play FM20 if that matters. --From your screenshot, you earned some gate recietts/Ticket sales from the match played at home, and payed 28k too the other team.

EDIT: The "income/fee" that you earn is always listed as "OTHER" under income tab like in this screenshot:

Yes, that's what i talked about. And so it was in FM20. But this time (look first screenshot) another team offered me friendly at my stadium, so homematch for me and income is 28K. How am i supposed to understand that i will pay for everything and get smth? Maybe it might be better to show in the offer smth like FEE -36K INCOME 8K, or just INCOME -28k, or INCOME 8k (but you have to pay 28K for the match). I don't know.

For now if i understand correctly there are 3 cases:

1) I want to host homematch. My offer says FEE x (that i am paying) INCOME y (that i will probably get)

2) Another team offered me friendly that i will be hosting (i am playing at home). Their offer says FEE x (they pay to me) INCOME y (their profit?)

3) Another team invites me to their ground (i will play away).   Their offer says FEE x (they pay to me) INCOME y (their profit?) again.

Maybe this is how it works? This is the logic of process?

And next situation - I am offering away friendly, UI shows Fee 1350 INCOME 1350. Does this mean that this match financially pointless for me?

Sorry, this doesn't look right to me.

 

 

The wording seems to tell me that for this away friendly, I'd be PAYING £7,500 and RECEIVING £1,200 in return. As it's not clearly reported in the Finance tables, I'd rather not take the risk!

When I arrange friendlies like that the 7500 "fee" is ignored, and you earn 1200. I have had the exact numbers myself infact.. Sometimes it says 7500 in Fee and 7500 as income, in any case you can always ignore one of the numbers. It only appears as income after the match, you never pay a fee as an away side in friendlies.

Really odd that SI would confuse us so thoroughly, if true. Tell you what, I'll try it out next pre-season. Potential serious money-earner for a small part-time club.

I wonder if anyone at SI can clarify what the Fee/Income split is per n example like above? It's put me off arranging some friendlies due to liking to keep a tight control on the finances.

When playing away I think it take  into account how much it will cost to get there and what not and then gives you a estimation of what you will get.

As a lower league manager, I now regularly arrange for away friendles. I can see quite clearly how we profit from them. I never realised this until this thread.

I know - that's why I didn't believe it at first, until I tried it for myself. SI needs to make the position clear in the way it words things.

So if I understand this right; The FEE-section is always what I'm giving the other team. The INCOME-section is always for the AWAY-team? Or have I misunderstand it?
Because with that information I can't find a game where the income is higher than the fee, but that could maybe be beacause i'm the highest team according to reputation in my country?

As an AWAY friendly, I GET the £7,500. tbh, I forget about the income - I might get that too, but I'll have to make a friendly for real to check it. When you only get a few dozen people to a game, it's easy to see where the money goes if you make a note of your monthly income and expenditure immediately before and after the game is played.

I will look into this also when it's time for pre-season, but i'm not there in a bit..

Confirmation from SI would be really handy. I had always assumed away friendlies were Fee subtracted from Income, which meant breaking even at best.

I performed an experiment on this around 19 months ago.  I learned that the finances of friendlies did not work how anyone expected.  The experiment was for a previous version, and likely too much detail, but here it is:
