The penultimate league game of the season is the last ever game at the Stade Abbe-Deschamps. What a thriller to end on and a screamer of a goal in the 96th min from Thomas will be remembered as the last ever goal there.

Ligue 1

Results Aug-Dec --- Results Jan-May

The loss against Montpellier with 5 games to go slashed any chance of a title run, but we finished pretty well and smashed the club record points tally to secure 3rd place and Champions League football. Dijon overcame PSG to be champions this season.

Coupe de France

A bitterly disappointing end to a decent cup run, we really should have got to the final but for the 2nd season running we stumble in the semis.

Europa Conference

82d24695b15d3f7f235bf9cd2c5faf35.png

Auxerre's first trophy in thirty years and Balmont's first with Auxerre. We had a good draw up until the semis then had to beat Liverpool and Sevilla to claim the silverware.

Putulyan --- Thomas --- Schmitt --- Le Grand --- Diallo --- Lagourde

Putulyan smashed Blanc's 37 club league goal record by scoring 39 in 34 in Ligue 1. The result of the profiles are of our key players.

The facilities are the best they can possibly be, with Guy Roux Arena just weeks away from opening.

Nearly £40m in the bank and 'rich' financial status. A nice turnaround in six seasons.

Florent Balmont is no spring chicken, he's now 61, and a return home to Lyon was exactly how he wanted to see out his career. In fact, the aptly named Stade Balmont is even closer to his home district of Sainte-Foy-les-Lyon than the Groupama Stadium.

It's time for part three, the final chapter, of Florent Balmont's career to commence.

Meet the Squad

e19408fa7525a9c673fd0e1af8046cb3.png

On the face of it, this is a poor team. No wonder they dropped to the 5th tier season before last. They only finished 8th in the league but gained promotion because all of the teams ahead of them were 2nd teams. Here's a look at the best players:

2eed3bc55dc29633375afb0c3a91a172.png

Silue is a Lyon academy graduate and brings a bit of class between the sticks.

675f44d16c43a66c8889e704995e5315.png

Pacy, good touch, as well as brave and determined. It's a shame he's lazy and hates teamwork or he would be a class act.

9a2521703b0c43bfa53e63cc0b7dbd19.png

A Dijon academy dropout, though after Balmont's time. He's a decent centre back but lacks ability on the ball and is a tad slow.

6340bd9cc599144c9e8896f0d7d646c5.png

The experienced Andrea Vinci will be the player we rely on up top. He's got a good record for the club, lets see if he can still do it at this level.

3e2c492b6bb081f3c5a22452ede6c3a0.png

Ah there we go, a centre back with a bit of pace.

515765b10e0e76b30e32d7dec8fac4e9.png

A very familiar name. Talah may have lacked ability, but he was an integral part of a successful Dijon 2nd Team thanks to his versatility. He even got first team minutes in Europe and Coupe de France.

That was unexpected, I thought you were staying until winning Ligue 1. Anyway good luck and the best way to wrap up the save would be a top 3 in the league with your 3 clubs.

The original plan was to do that with Auxerre, however I felt that building them back up as an established Ligue 1 club with sound financial footing, a new stadium named after a legend and a European trophy was sufficient enough to move on. I've had my eye on SC Lyon as they're Balmont's most local club (IRL they are named Lyon-Duchere again) and I'd be concerned that they'd go straight back down and become unplayable for several more seasons. Balmont is too old to wait .

Cheers, this is by far the biggest challenge out of the three!

2041-42 Mid-Season Update

National Results

64ea1486e56f7839c64654754d535d0c.png

Although we lost our opening game of the season we got off to a decent start winning the next three games. Then it all fell apart, the 3-0 home loss to Red Star and 5-0 loss to Beziers being the worst, and we slipped to just one place above the relegation zone. Somehow we managed to turn it back round and we're back on a nice run of 6 games unbeaten and a 4-game-winning-streak.

National Table

0519767f9edfce7906b5813b18fda420.png

We're closer to a relegation spot than top, but we do have an outside chance of pushing for promotion if we continue our recent form. Interesting to see recently relegated Bordeaux doing so poorly!

Coupe de France

11cb45abe9e1e26688aa10c700fc0775.png

We had an easy draw for the first three rounds comfortably beating level 5/6 opposition. The 8th round conjured up an all-National tie vs Clermont and we were able to come out on top. Ligue 1 Nimes await us in the next round, let's hope for a decent crowd but it won't be that financially rewarding.

Player Stats

2aed68ee236790fe9e890dbe687e88a3.png

Our strike partnership of Leroy and Vinci have 24 goals equally shared between them. Bertholot has been a rock at the back while Keita has been an excellent creative force at right wing. We're definitely overachieving with this squad, thankfully our best player, keeper Silue, agreed to a new long term deal.

Bring it on, Nimes!

Two goals from corners sandwiched two striker combinations in a fantastic 4-2 win. We're into the Coupe de France final!

Balmont's old foes PSG are our opponent in the final. Reminds me of the PSG vs Les Herbiers final of 2018.

All of the money made from the cup run has been sucked up by facility upgrades.

Youth Intake 2042

A disappointing intake, though I can't say that it wasn't expected.

Le Bail is half decent, though he'll need to be re-trained as a DM.

I prefer Dubois to Le Bail as the pick of the bunch. If he develops well he could become a reasonable advanced forward.

We're in great form at the moment and we're in a promotion / title race. Red Star are the only side to beat us in Lyon meaning it is our home form yet again propelling us.

2042-43 Mid-Season Update

Ligue 2 Results

0b765d4e0e5460f8ec4b11fb85db96fb.png

It's been a real mixed bag of results but veering slightly more positive than negative. We started with 3 clean sheets in our opening 4 games but have failed to keep one since. Fortunately we are looking good going forward.

Ligue 2 Table

5b738828f67bf4989e4d95f9935c3dae.png

We're currently occupying a playoff spot, but it's extremely tight and anything could happen.

Coupe de France

fb7eedd8b3b4261949f59601b53f2ed7.png

A decent start in the cup, beating a non-league side with our 2nd string and all goals scored by academy-grown strikers. We have a potential banana skin with Bourg-Peronnas in the next round.

Player Stats

2f96b881d3f7519eddcf76319d73e974.png

Leroy has defied his ability by banging in 20 Ligue 2 goals in just 21 games, while experienced strike partner Vinci has contributed goals and assists. Silue has been magnificent between the sticks, bringing home points with crucial performances.

Youth Intake Preview

cd0525aeecf284c9a3d220fbf319c122.png

Much better than last season, though it looks like our best prospect will need to be re-trained.

I realize you're far into the future but those are some strong teams in Ligue 2!

Yeah I reckon it's a pretty strong league. Nice were a regular top 6 side until recently and finished 3rd the last two seasons in L2 but looks like they're finally back up. Also got Bordeaux in the 3rd tier

Wow what a star Djiby Loum is!  The rest are pretty average and can make up the numbers, but Loum will be re-trained as a Complete Forward and he will be straight into the starting 11 for the aging Vinci next season.

Results

Out of the cup to Bourg-Peronnas, who were recently relegated to the National, as well as a lot of draws. We're still picking up a fair amount of points, but the home loss to bottom of the league QRM sticks out like a sore thumb.

5 games left and it's extremely tight. Squeaky bum time!!
