These 2 guys have just popped up for international consideration

He's already considered the second best LWB in Luxembourg, but he's rejected us for the time being. I reckon that could change soon though. I'm really excited about the prospect of a Bayern academy player playing for the national team.

But that's nothing compared to this guy...

He's an U20 World Cup winner with Germany after he switched 4 years ago, but he has 13 caps for Luxembourg before he switched. But it seems like he's considering a switch back, and we'd be more than happy to have him. Not only because he's far and away our best striker, but also because of this:

That should be enough to get anyone excited! Now to convince him to join the revolution...

A strong preseason, with good wins against Halmstads and Flora Tallinn in the Champions League. Whilst the score line wasn't massive, we were dominant. We also did quite well against Dinamo, but it wasn't quite enough. That's okay though, because I've given us until season 10 to make the group stages. Albania's KF Tirana stands between us and the Europa League group stages.

We made no transfers again, as we are right on the limit of the squad rules.

I arranged friendlies against top 100 teams I thought we could beat, and I was right :D I think this is the way forward when it comes to improving our ranking in the short term.

We eke out a win against Tirana to qualify for our first ever Europa League, and we're rewarded with a pretty terrible draw. I don't even think we'll get past Kobenhavn.

I'm really surprised we got a win over Kobenhavn, but it makes me hopeful we can finish 3rd and get into the Conference League knockouts.

I have no idea how we got that result against Hertha  In other news, we're out of the cup, and we have done nothing but win in the league. Our European escapades are likely to end though, as we've been drawn against 2040 Conference League winners Hibernian.

I have to say I'm a little disappointed with our performance in Europe. I don't mind losing to Randers, but we should really be beating Larne, even if they are Conference League regulars. We face Brno of the Czech Republic in the Conference League playoff, and given our recent form I'm not very optimistic.

No transfers again, I'm waiting until our foreign players get citizenship so they can play for the national team, then sell and replace them.

A pretty shocking display for Fernandes' debut games, but he scored on his debut. He then scored a double in our excellent win over 55th ranked Canada. We've just got to get a little more consistent I think.

A perfect start to the league, especially in our opening game against Medernach where we had 55 shots and 7 xG!  When we blew a 2-1 lead in stoppage time to Brno, I was very worried we'd be without European football for the first time in 5 years. But a fantastic performance in the home leg sees us into the group stages again.

Oh for God's sake, now we've lost Frassetti :seagull:

He might actually have a chance to play for them though!

Has he switched after 24 caps? I didn't know you could do that! How frustrating.

I toned down our mentality from attacking to control, and I think it's worked for the better. A good win against Panathinaikos and dominant in the league. If I had changed sooner we probably would've made it through the groups.

Couldn't have asked for a better performance in the Champions League! Swept past Hungarian Paksi and Finnish Inter Turku, and perhaps our best performance over two legs in a European tie sees us defeat Zenit. The away draw was on the back of a spectacular effort playing a man down for nearly three quarters of the game. We face Maribor for a spot in the group stages. We lost 2-1 on aggregate to them 5 years ago, but we're much stronger than we were then.

Transfers (In)

59b06bf3023b00187fcaf58a559a69bc.png

Due to the late prizemoney we received from the Conference League (about 3M) the board turned us professional less than 3 months after making revert. Nevertheless, I am relying on loan players to fill some gaps for us this season. Due to our HG rules (I need 9 out of 16 in the match squad) every player on the bench is HG, which leaves space for two of our CBs as well as the DM, LWB, both CMs and one ST to be non-HG. Miller (half German) is the striker, Weiß and Manninen the CMs, Freiberger the DM, Carre the LWB and Kıroğlu the CB. Due to the fact that we haven't brought anyone in for 5 seasons these guys are so much better than the guys we already have, and it's already been highlighted in our European performances.

Schaus wasn't good enough to make it here, but as a current Luxembourg international I'm more than happy to let him go somewhere he can play often. I also released 13 players who didn't make it into our 35 man domestic squad and were also too old to play U21s.

Disappointing to draw against Progres, but we did have to play a weakened team after our phenomenal draw against Madrid  Our last game at Lille determines whether we bow out last or qualify for the Europa League.

We couldn't win the group :( But maybe we just aren't ready for that yet.

This is an absolutely terrible group, because we won't get results against Germany or Ireland. But as 4th seeds I think finishing 3rd is realistic.

We had an expected loss to Lille, and we're really kicking on in the league. I really wish Progres would slip up though.

I was wondering how long it would take to get a poor intake preview!

Some dominance there! My question was regarding the naturalisation, but you’ve already got the ball rolling on that!

Any South American’s that fancy the move over to play for Europe’s up-and-coming nation in five years?!

Bertrand (the midfielder, not the striker) leaves for Belgium as he was pushed out of the starting XI. I'm not too worried, as he's now become naturalised. Majerus leaves on a free with some compensation.

Thanks!

If any South Americans do want to come over, it won't be at my club. I'm only bringing in players that have a nationality belonging to my neighbouring countries (so France, Germany & Belgium) :D

I understand what my HOYD meant in the intake preview about not expecting much, but Luxembourg will always need players, and hopefully some of these guys can develop into NT contenders.

At the end of the day, our league win was a lot easier than it looked in terms of points difference.

Preseason 2051

HJK gave us a big scare in the Champions League, but apart from that pretty straightforward. We play Albanian side Vlaznia Shkoder for a spot in the CL groups.

We bring in Weiss and Miller permanently after their efforts on loan last season. Saletovic (German 2nd nat) becomes our new starting DM but can play in other key positions, and Faty (French 2nd nat) adds to our defensive line.

Solid start to the league, and we're through to the group stages of the CL again, with a tough group. Although looking at the groups it look like there were no easy groups this edition.
