We obliterate Galatasaray, and we get a pretty tough group actually. We may get something from Ajax, but it's unlikely. But in all honesty for a club of our stature every group would be tough.

It’s also worth noting that a player from our most recent intake has already made his debut, and what a debut it was. Fresnel Limbombe 14B came on as a sub in the 67th minute, scored in the 68th, and then scored again in the 81st in our 6-0 win over Victoria.

Standard in the league, before dismantling poor 5th tier Belval 14-0. In the Champions League, we had a big win against Ajax, which I wasn't expecting, and even though we only lost 1-0 to Lille we were outplayed and dominated.

With all the excitement of qualifying for a World Cup I completely forgot about the Nations League draw, but we're off to a great start, with Slovenia probably providing the biggest challenge to us finally getting promoted.

We beat Barcelona at Camp Nou! It wasn't even that fluky either; the xG was 1.07 to 0.97. Can we maintain this and make the CL knockouts?

We couldn't beta Barcelona at home, but we beat Ajax and we're now guaranteed European knockout football at worst. It's just a matter of where we end up.

Now this is an intake I can get excited about! 3 of the top 5 have sole Luxembourg nationality, which means they won't be stolen by anyone. Frising has the potential to be a star, he's already at a rating of 70 at striker

Preseason 2055

200563a1105d04c39e048325b88d3eaf.png

Solid but unspectacular in the Champions League, but I'm experimenting with some players in unfamiliar positions, so hopefully that's the cause.

Went a little wild here, spending a bit of money. I'm trying out this new theory: find players that match the attribute profile of a position, even of they don't play there, and re-train them to play there. Guler, Hornschuh and Erhard are my guinea pigs here, as RWB, DM and LWB respectively. Their rating in those positions far surpass what I had before, it's just a matter of getting them comfortable in that position. Bernard was picked up as a HG option at keeper, after Hilbert refused to sign a new contract. But then I found Borchers. A German with Luxembourg 2nd nationality, he's far better than previous keepers Hilbert and Beernaert. The best part of it is he qualifies as a HG player. Moving away from the wacky stuff, I'm really excited by Stanojevic, he's only 18, classed as promising and a steal at 2.5M.

We broke records for biggest win in a league game in two consecutive games, and a solid win over Red Bull Salzburg rewards us with an OK group. We've beaten Lille and pushed Real Madrid, so we should be able to handle PSV. I feel sorry for Wexford though. PSG, Chelsea and Atletico? Ouch.

Forgot to put this in the preseason section, so I'll put it here. Two great results against Holland, and we smashed number 21 DR Congo. We're in a strong position in our qualifiers, we just need to be strong against Holland.

It looks like qualification is all but assured. All we need is a draw against Holland to win the group, and I think we've got enough points if we finish second to qualify. Also a special mention for our 16 year old striker Max Frising who scored on his debut! Hopefully he'll make something of himself.

A stoppage time winner puts us through on away goals to the Europa League quarter finals, where we face Wexford, who we have never beaten (or drawn). Perhaps now is the time. That'll be all from Betrand this season though, as he injured his hip and will miss 3 months :( hopefully he'll be okay for the EUROs though.

EURO 2056 Squad

Goalkeepers

Marc Hilbert - Thor Beernaert  -  Jacques Bernard

Hilbert and Bernard make their second major tournament appearance, and Bernard is our backup keeper.

Centre Backs

Fabrizio Frassetti  -  Tim Albert  -  Fernand Proietti  -  Claude Schaus 7A  -  Kevin Morais 6B*  -  Marco Delage

5 of our 6 CBs from the World Cup make their EURO debuts, along with recent convert and current Champions League finalist Fernand Proietti. At 31 he may have left his conversion a bit too late, but he should still feature for a few years.

Right Wing Backs

Hugo Pereira 6C*  -  Bruno Lisboa 4C

Two academy products who are still with us.

Defensive Midfielders

Mike Dragolovcanin 11B*  -  David Heinze 7E

Two Schifflange academy products make their major tournament debuts.

Left Wing Backs

Sven Viola  -  Ousmane Carre

Young star Viola takes the spot here, with veteran Carre as backup.

Centre Midfielders

Niklas Weiss  -  Marek Nawrocki  -  Amel Trierweiler  -  José Manuel García

Weiss is the most recent Schifflange player to naturalise, and he immediately becomes our best CM. Even at 36, Nawrocki is still one of our best CMs technically, even if he has fallen off the cliff physically. This will probably be his last tournament, and it's only fitting that he appears in both our first World Cup and EURO.

Strikers

Tim Fernandes  -  Ludovic Bertrand  -  Michel Hoffmann  -  Max Frising 15A

Goalscoring legends Fernandes and Bertrand spearhead our front line, with the old/young pairing of Hoffmann and Frising acting as backups.

Guler took a little longer than anticipated to get used to his position, as the AM kept subbing him out after half time every single game

Thanks! I'm not sure if we'll get there, but hopefully we raise the coefficient some more so I can leave for the next country :D

Predictable loss to Chelsea, and unbelievably, after more than 200 games we have lost in the league. We weren't exactly FM'd, but we weren't clinical.

Being a top seed for the 1st time gives us an interesting group. Both Hamburg and Wexford were beaten by us in our Europa League title run, and Napoli beat us in the EL knockouts a couple of years back.

A come from behind win against Poland, and a good result against Iceland could bode extremely well.

It's nice and close in the league, but we're doing really well in the Champions League, already securing qualification to the knockout stages.

Dealt with the Americans and Iceland with ease, but a loss at home to Greece tightens things as we head into the last 2 games.

There are no easy draws once you reach the last 16 of the Champions League, and this pretty much sums it up. United haven't progressed to the last 8 in the last 5 seasons though, so maybe we can do something.

With an intake predicted to be mediocre it's a lot easier to be pleasantly surprised.

2057 Youth Intake

Wow. If this is considered a mediocre group of players, I'd love to see what a poor group is, let alone a golden generation! Dany Alunni is going to be a star once his personality is fixed, already described as promising, and we also get a model citizen in Schmit 17D*. These guys are going to be good.

We make it 13 straight league titles, and a historic win over Man United. I went very defensive in the second leg, really battened down the hatches, and we managed to hold out. Up next we have Barcelona, a team we have beaten 3 seasons ago, and we are much, much stronger now. I'm cautiously optimistic.

A shaky start, conceding 4 against Georgia and only beating the Faroese by 2.

A remarkable turnaround against Barcelona sees us into the last 4 of the Champions League, and then we blew away Liverpool at Anfield to put us in a very, very strong position to make the final. This is getting scary. I think if we make the final the journey in Luxembourg could be over.

So where will be your next port of call then should your time in Luxembourg be overr?

It will be one of Georgia, Bosnia & Herzegovina or Albania. It looks like Iceland will be the next nation to be made playable.

Been watching @Jimbokav1971 journey in Bosnia, so Georgia and Albania would be fun to see.  Do you have North Macedonia in play as I am doing a save there and it is interesting.

Yes I've been following it too, he's doing quite well there as well, although I think he might be leaving soon. Georgia and Albania are both new to me (I managed in Bosnia in FM19 I think), but Bosnia will probably be easier. It's a question of what opportunities come up I think. North Macedonia will be activated at some point! Who are you managing, and why is it interesting?
