We go into the winter break with just 1 win in our 3 games in December

1220607556_Dec2022.PNG.73d5331e1cc1f60e881fb00a1e8c9675.PNG

and that leaves us 10th, clinging to the last playoff place. Nowhere near good enough. There will be significant departures before the end of January. Some off these players are stealing a living

With my job status less than secure, I needed a good month in February. A slight tactical tweak, and I got one, including an away victory at the runaway leaders

and that saw us move back into a playoff spot. No room for error, but if we can hold on for the next 9 games, hopefully I'll get the chance to be here next season

Not a fantastic set of results in March (on paper at least)

1810754321_Mar2023.PNG.ac843fb0326135d98399abf4b1d3715b.PNG

but we got utterly FM'd in the Savoia game, missed a penalty, and had a goal really questionably chalked off

291720537_Savh2023.PNG.761dc829bbc32d8718a4421a9db24a09.PNG

which leaves the table looking like this. The board called me in after the Paganese game, and set me a target of 11 points from the last 5 games of the season. My only target is to survive the season now

Seven players were signed, three sold for a fee, and loads of others given free transfers or loaned out

Marc Jurado will be first choice right back

Nohan Kenneh will be a first choice defensive midfielder, but can also fill in at centre back too

Yago Santiago will be a first choice centre midfielder

Stephy Mavididi was the quality striker I was after

Morgan Sanson is a central midfielder

Sanson.PNG.4512072a14fa389bcaa16e4292d32ae2.PNG

as is Juninho Bacuna, who will be first choice for one of the two positions

and this is the squad for my first season at QPR. Top half is a necessity, but I'd like us to push for a playoff spot

September was one match from perfect, and absolutely no complaints about the Crystal Palace result, we were definitely second best

806937733_Sep2023.PNG.2888a6a91a1d0f9bf63bc240776320a4.PNG

and that left us in a playoff position. Far too early to talk about staying there, but a solid platform for a decent season is definitely being constructed. Surprised to see Luton up there with us, and the likes of Cardiff struggling

On the final day of the season, we travel to relegation-threatened Preston. Peterborough are at home to Cardiff. Swansea are mathematically still involved, but realistically, they are safe and it's a two horse race for a seat on the Championship lifeboat. The only other issue outstanding is whether Bristol City or Stoke face West Brom. Whichever doesn't face West Brom will play Crystal Palace.

There were many highs

But not much financial good cheer

We used several formations across the season, and this was the team of the year
