Excellent last season and the fixture congestion is what big squads are for.

But what's happening this season?!

I will let September's results answer that one :)

and we're now just two points behind the leaders

That's a heck of a CL group!

I think we're doing ok ;) although at 0-2 against Barcelona, and down to 10 men, I was starting to agree with you!

December was a poor month

681884609_Dec2032.thumb.PNG.6f1798738a62509abf70f5b8ac59531d.PNG

though I can't believe we didn't get something from the Bournemouth game

559149887_vBournemoutha2032.thumb.PNG.9f134711d6ba3566a427fa7877efd2ec.PNG

and Newcastle should have been beaten

Likewise Palace

We somehow end the month top, although only 2 points separate 1st and 6th, which is ridiculous at this stage of the season

Progress in the Champions League, and top spot was secured with the draw against Barcelona

We went through January unbeaten, the only dropped points were a draw with Liverpool

1203393970_Jan2033.thumb.PNG.80d7870d96dc0e7403ffcd75bb80576b.PNG

and we end the month top of the Premier League, although others have games in hand

2127212576_Jan2033table.thumb.PNG.f1fabab806ac15708e789fead0426e49.PNG

There were no transfers in or out, so the squad remains as it was in August

We started badly in February, but ended it in great form

1861151490_Feb2033.thumb.PNG.aa27d98ef7ce468e1ad8279c33088749.PNG

and after the defeat to Brighton, which saw us fall to 5th in the league, I announced I would be leaving City at the end of the season

1176092504_LeavingCity.thumb.PNG.8935f7ff8b36f70f7b2c7f61328d535e.PNG

but we end the month second, with a game in hand on the leaders

March wasn't as bad as it looks, as we played 30 min of normal time, plus extra time against United with 10 men, and only conceded late in extra time. We created loads against Wolves, but it was one of those days

and we end March top of the league

As you can see, Juventus' history over the last 20 years or so shows they were dominating Serie A, but have fallen away over the last few years. In many ways it feels like I've joined the Italian equivalent of Liverpool in about 1993, in that there are still a fair few players around who remember the glory days, but there are also big gaps in the squad to fill. It'll be a bit of a project to get them back to where they were, and it starts here

I managed to make three signings, the rest joined before me (mine are highlighted)

Mathieu will initially be first choice left back. There were no left backs at the club when I arrived

Mathieu.thumb.PNG.4184ec71df9c1bc6e5924fd94a892327.PNG

Maatsen will provide cover at left back, and hopefully keep Mathieu on his toes

Maatsen.thumb.PNG.939e672ed51127a2582bf8ee99faad83.PNG

and finally, Clovis provides extra depth at centre back. We have an option to buy him for £10m

Clovis.thumb.PNG.d2fcc4f3d93c4314cdf48fe5df86c069.PNG

and our squad looks like this. The one glaring lack of quality and depth is in goal. I hope I don't need my backup keeper too often!

That perfect start continued until the last game in September. We were 2-0 down inside 10 minutes against RB Leipzig, and never looked like recovering

So we now have the only 100 per cent record in Serie A

But we have left ourselves a mountain to climb in the Champions League. With back-to-back games against Man Utd up next, I suspect we'll know our fate after those games

We had 8 players in the Team of the Year

2080270261_TOTY2034.thumb.PNG.66d48efc4de90b263f4c5b58ebe980e2.PNG

Stassio and Clerc both won best player in their category as well.

All in all a successful season. Can't believe I was one game from the sack a few months ago!!
