jorgvandervloed
Hey everyone, With the new FM game coming out past friday we got some new options for team instructions. One of them is ''close down more'' and the new option ''close down much more,'' my question is, what is the difference between the two? I remember from last year that ''close down more'' would increase closing down to a maximum and the tempo your team would play with increased as well. So what does it do now? Is ''closing down much more'' the instruction that ''close down more'' was in FM14? And if so, what does ''close down more'' do in FM15 this year? Hope this makes any sense lol, thanks in advance for the help!
fernandovalente
yeah, some clarification on this would be great
Sarin1
Closes down more than more.
thomit
"Close down much more" has obviously ousted "hassle opponents". But whether it is a straight name change or slightly different, who knows. SI's policy is to not explain things properly.
Switters
I think this adjustment to emulate the ultra pressing team such as Dortmund. You can't do pressing the way Dortmund does it in previous FM. "Close down much more" and the "don't let GK time on ball" or something are the new options to emulate the super pressing teams. Does it work? Well I find it to work well enough, I do get my team to close down pretty high up the pitch...and it has the added benefit of circumventing the current ME 'winger running down the flank and cross while fullback provide the escort service' bug... THOG
Close Down More will set closing down settings approximately one mentality level higher than your current setting. Close Down Much More will take the setting another step higher. This also stacks with any adjustments to closing down caused by adjusting your defensive line setting. Hassle Opponents is gone and these new TIs do not affect marking/tempo.
Jean-Luc
Any reason why "hassle opponents" is gone? I found it a very useful TI.
Cleon
Any reason why "hassle opponents" is gone?I found it a very useful TI. It's basically close down much more. So its still there. It wasn't realistic that hassle opponents added tight marking or increased the tempo that was just silly.
THOG
Yep. Most pressing systems aren't really based on sticking close to attackers on a man-to-man basis but staying compact as a unit and establishing numerical superiority around the ball, so tying it to tight marking was too limiting. fernandovalente
So, if mentality is set to Control, Close Down Much More increases mentality to Overload ??? and, if so, does this overload mentality affects only how the players closes down or affects everything, with and without the ball ??? It doesn't increase the mentality to Overload, it just increases the likelihood that they'll close down a player in a specific situation to approximately the same level. THOG
oh, ok, mislead by the increase level of mentality you mentioned :o Ah, sorry for the confusion. To clarify, I meant it will set Closing Down to approx. the level Closing Down would be on another team mentality setting.

enders357
I'm currently using "Close Down More" and "Tighter Marking" to try and repicate Dortmund's gegenpressing, or at least Pochettino's old Southampton style. I found this worked pretty well in FM14 with the "Hassle Opponents" setting on as well, but you guys think using "Close Down Much More" on its own is probably better? I only really used "Tighter Marking" previously to get people close to the other team and agree with an earlier post that this isn't really what these systems are about. Also, I have my midfielders and wingers individual instructions set to close down more as well. Do you think this is necessary? Does it mean they close down even more or am I just doubling up on the same instruction?
Quinby
Do you guys find that Close down More means more fouls? I've got this setting plus Stay on Feet TI's and still commit a lot of fouls.
