kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Premier League 2052/53 September Much better month should have seen us pick up nine points. West Ham United scored with just five minutes left to get a point then we picked up a great win against then leaders Aston Villa, yet again though we conceded late on. The month ended with a one sided display at Spurs, both centre backs on target along with youngster O'Malley scoring two. Capital One Cup Ten changes saw us dumped out against PL rivals. The only goal came in stoppage time, surprise surprise. Champions League Wow, what a game. Thomas red carded and us a goal down for the penalty spot after just 8 minutes had us in trouble. O'Malley, Vermeulen and Rodrigo then scored to send us in 3-1 up at the break. Two goals in the first ten minutes of the restart levelled the game at 3-3 before we scored four in the final 18 minutes, Rodrigo completing a hat trick, O'Malley with another and left back Falkenmayer. Hosting H. Tel-Aviv next up.

kris0710
Jose Maria could become a cracking player if he improves his jumping reach. Not a bad start at all, we've certainly seen worse. That's my only concern with his. At 5ft 11" he needs to be better in the air. He has the makings of a half decent DM too so that is plan B.

kris0710
Wow, Sheffield United are doing well - where are all those goals coming from! They are surprising all this season. Have been in the PL since 2029/30 finishing between 10th and 16th for the last 10 seasons and 9th the two before that. Been in the Europa League twice, winners in 2039 and semi finalists in 2040. This is the 3rd year in a row they have failed PL FFP rules, the second time they have had a 5 point deduction. A 22 year old Italian is top scorer with 9 goals. Luigi Riccardo Di Santo was signed from Zilina for £2.4m three years ago. Second top scorer is 28 year old Dave Bloomer with 7 goals. He was signed four years ago from Cardiff for £7.25m. They have the 7th highest wage bill in the league (£95.3m pa compared to Arsenal with £160m and Sheff Wed £14.06m).
kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Premier League 2052/53 October Another decent month goes by without a defeat. Started with a point against Cardiff in an even game. No side deserved all three points in fairness. That was followed by a win over Stoke that saw Dirley Rodrigo score two more goals. Away to Blackburn saw us fall 2-0 behind after just 23 minutes and look in great trouble. The the fightback started with midfield general Filipe and another brace from Rodrigo. After scoring just six times in 26 PL game season he has scored 9 in 9 this term. Champions League Seven changes saw us limp past H. Tel-Aviv but a stunning display in Paris put us in control of the group. Right back Howie struck his 4th goal of the season before a second goal came from centre back Thomas. Howie was replaced by outgoing Cezar and top scorer Rodrigo left the field to be replaced by former PSG man Rowe. Both subs scored their first goals of the season to complete the rout. 2nd and 3rd at home follow. Transfers Out Loyal servant Caio Cezar wants a new challenge and after 8 years good service and an attractive offer from PSG the Brazilian can leave with my blessing. A key player for most of his time here he has played 246 PL games scoring 8 times. Contract In exchange for a longer deal i have taken a pay cut. At 69 money isn't everything. My last contract perhaps?

kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Premier League 2052/53 November What a mixed bag that was. A brilliant showing resulted in a 7-1 hammering of Burton before we were destroyed ourselves at Hull. Joe O'Brien was the hero against Liverpool scoring his first goals for the club but November ended with defeat to Arsenal. After leading early the away side levelled mid way through the half. The winning goal came with just three minutes remaining. Wycombe are streets ahead, we host them next. Champions League Two very good wins give us top spot and a place in the next stage with ease. kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Premier League 2052/53 December A good month that started with a much needed win over leaders Wycombe. It was a terrible game and only one goal was needed to settle it. Lost out to two late goals at Nott'm Forest, the strikes coming in the 78th and 86th minute. Needed to bounce back and we did seeing off Crystal Palace despite them taking the lead. Southampton were hit for seven before we saw off rivals Luton Town. Merry Christmas. The month closed with a point against Manchester United, we needed a 2nd half goal to level the match then missed three good chances to win. The gap to Wycombe has closed. Awards Champions League All ten outfield players rested as the group ended with a comfortable win. Champions League Draw Happy enough with that draw despite losing both previous matches against them. kris0710
Fantastic work in the Champions League. Thanks, was very much surprising. Quality to see this up going again, great timing after our success IRL That is what inspired me to come back! Why are Wycombe are good all of sudden In fairness they have been good for a while. In the last 6 seasons they have finished 3rd twice, 5th twice, 6th and 7th. As pointed out below they won the CL in 2049/50 and lost to Man City in the 2050/51 SF. Reached the Europa League SF losing to me last season. In the last five years they have won the FA Cup once, lost two SF and lost two QF. They are very much a club in good form. Unlike recent years they haven't lost any big players in the summer and they have added a new £22m striker who has scored 17 in 27 this year. I think it was a case of constant progress, they even won the CL a few years back. Correct young Sir! Come on Wycombe. Why have Sheffield United been deducted five points? No, not come on Wycombe. As for Sheff United for the third year in a row they have failed the Premier League Financial Fair Play regulations. That has led to the 5 point deduction this term. They also had 5 points deducted for the 2050/51 season. The rules:
kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Premier League 2052/53 January Well, this month see's our hopes of overhauling Wycombe and retaining our title disappear. We lost at home to Manchester City for the first time in the PL despite taking an early lead. A goal in each half was enough for City. Another home defeat followed as the impressive Sheff Utd rang rings around us. Disappointing is not the word. A trip to whipping boys Sheff Wed followed and what a game that was. Two goals from Filipe, right back Ibarra scored two, Vermeulen and left back Falkenmayer added one a piece with attacking midfielder O'Malley scoring three. We ended the month with a defeat to West Ham. The home side led 3-0 at the break before we mounted a second half fight back. FA Cup A tight win at Championship side Notts County meant we travelled to a PL side. That saw us draw at PL rivals West Ham and the next round has us hosting Arsenal or Wrexham. Record Transfers Out of the club goes DM Jean-Yves Roussel to Marseille for £2.5m, centre midfielder George Morrison to Nott'm F for £1.1m and striker Miguel Villalba to Valencia for £11.25m. That was joined by the earlier transfer of Cezar to PSG. Incoming see's new right back Joseba Ibarra from Espanyol for £11.25m, defensive midfielder Luis from Real Madrid for £775k and Manchester City's Amoroso for £7m. kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Premier League 2052/53 February A much better month and the aim of getting a top four finish is still on. We didn't start great and only drew at home to struggling Spurs before Cardiff came and offered little as an attacking threat. Aston Villa looked to play 8 men behind the ball for most of our match and we needed a goal from sub O'Malley to break through. Ended the month with another tight win, this time over Stoke who twice led before Thomas headed home the winner. FA Cup We crashed out of the cup a round later than we should have. Scored a goal with six seconds left to force extra time at home to West Ham before we won through. A home draw with Arsenal took us to a replay and after taking the lead with six minutes left Arsenal struck in injury time and went on to score twice in the extra 30 minutes. Champions League Looks like we will be in the Quarter Final thanks to sub Amoroso late double striker. Great result.
kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Premier League 2052/53 March The month started well but then we dropped points to leave our top four hopes in the balance. Two second half goals saw off a poor Burton side before we needed a late Dirley Rodrigo goal to beat Blackburn. After one of the best opening 15 minutes in all my games in charge against Hull we went on to blow our 2-0 lead and had to settle for a single point. The big trip to Arsenal ended in defeat thanks to a long range free kick mid way through the second half. Champions League Coated into the last eight with a fantastic showing. Champions League Draw Fairly pleased with that draw. Youth Candidates
kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Premier League 2052/53 April A poor month has left us with one realistic chance of CL football so the decision was made to rest key players as much as possible in the Premier League. Wycombe came from behind to beat us late on before another quick start saw off Liverpool. Nott'm Forest should have won by many more as 7 U-18 players started this match before we saw off Crystal Palace, scoring with our only two efforts on goal. Champions League Breezed past league rivals Manchester United and after a tight away leg we ran riot in the second to make it to our first ever CL Final. kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Premier League 2052/53 May After losing 2-0 leads in the opening two games of the month going to Manchester United we knew we couldn't finish 4th. The winning of the match at Old Trafford took 5th spot but with the CL Final a week away i played a second string and we were well beaten in the end. Disappointing defence of our title, but all is not lost in the quest for CL football. Awards

kris0710
I know they had been decent for a while but that has to count as the strangest league winner I've seen under AI management alone. Totally agree. It is lovely to see a club rise through and succeed through AI management. There is tonnes of talk around poor AI squad building but with the likes of Wycombe, Sheff Utd and Burton getting in the PL and doing well for the most part shows that things have improved to some degree on that front. kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Premier League 2053/54 August An average start to the season with two tight away wins followed by a home defeat to Arsenal. Huddersfield on the opening day of the season saw us come out winners thanks to sub Gabbidon's header with 12 minutes left. We took the lead only to see that cancelled out on the stroke of half time. A trip to the City Ground saw us 3-0 up and cruising after 55 minutes. That included Vermeulen missing a penalty with the score 0-0. But Forest started a comeback with a goal after 73 minutes which was followed by an own goal by Muzinic in the final minute. Arsenal gained some small revenge for the CL Final with a win at our place, two goals up at the break. We pulled one back early in the second half but didn't really create much else to worry the away side. European Super Cup Despite falling behind we came back brilliantly to clinch our 2nd Super Cup. Champions League Draw Finally top seeds we get another winnable group.

kris0710
I hate that board announcement after winning a competition. They say you were always one of the favourites, but weren't you a third seed?Shame that you went narrow just in time for a promising wide player to show up! That message is annoying but none more so than the one after winning the Super Cup last season. 'Well done for keeping up the tradition of winning the Super Cup' Eh?!?!? It was the clubs first Super Cup Final, ever! I still think Pattison has a part to play long term, i start narrow but my Plan B is switching from a 4-1-2-2-1 to a 4-1-1-2-2. On CM moves up to form a front two while the two AMC go to AMR/L positions.
kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Premier League 2053/54 September A perfect month has us sat nicely going into October. Couldn't ask for more with three first half strikes against Cardiff followed by two more late on to seal an emphatic win. Successive 3-0 wins followed and both had the same pattern, a dominant first half with 2-0 leads. Awards Capital One Cup Ten outfield players were rotated as we saw off a stubborn Sheffield United side. Manchester City at home is our 'reward' in the 4th round. Champions League This is fantastic. For both games i made wholesale changes from my best league XI so after two games my back four of Falkenmayer, Ibarra, Jose Maria and Rodriguez have yet to play a minute of CL football. They are joined by Filipe, Amoroso, Dirley Rodrigo, O'Brien and Muzinic who had been able to rest up. Seven of those nine players have been ever present in the PL. I must say his determination as a defensive type of midfielder is low for me. Hope he does well for you mind. He missed the opening two weeks of the season but since then he has played 8 times with an average of 7.35. With Fagni been missing too he has played all of his games as a DLP and has done a job. His ability to fill the DM and MC role is a plus. No complaints yet. Another cracking month So far so good.
kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Premier League 2053/54 October Another solid month see's 7 more points and another two clean sheets. Started off with two 1-0 wins, both winners coming from defenders. Attacker O'Malley made the most of a rare start to put us in the lead over Southampton but our long run of not conceding was ended with just 12 minutes left of that match. Capital One Cup One hell of a match see's us through to the next round but in all honesty i was hoping for a defeat. Played the same side i do in Champions League matches and despite falling behind twice we were far too strong. Arsenal away awaits in the Quarter Final. Champions League An easy away trip puts us on the verge of qualification. Record
