harvs360
Ok So I'm getting withdrawal from late night and early morning sessions (of FM) and am looking at the purchase of a new Lappy (laptop that is). I'm undecided between 2 as i was warned off HP (had one that broke also) and i dont really know too much about specs and how many leagues it will run but im looking at either this Dell (reliable) with i5 (2.53 ghz)) http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/dell-inspiron-n5010-black-laptop-08702322-pdt.html Or this Toshiba (dont know much about them) i7 (1.73ghz) http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/toshiba-satellite-a660-18d-06525219-pdt.html Therefore your thoughts and opinion on which one and number of leagues it should be able to run would be nice. Smurf
The Toshiba one is definitely better. Bigger screen too (not by much though). You could do with with a bit more RAM though, this will allow better multitasking. Windows in 32 bit will use 1gb RAM, and in 64 bit mode uses 2 gb RAM, I think Football Manager will also do the same. So if you're in 64 bit windows and Windows is using 2 gb RAM and Football Manager is using 2gb RAM then you won't be able to do much else in terms of multitasking, perhaps browse the web or check emails or play music or something. But not much else. You can always upgrade RAM at a later stage though - so the Toshiba one is the better computer.
trekman
My first piece of advice would be to avoid places like pcworld if you possibly can. You'll probably get a similar spec machine to the ones you looking for if you look online and they'll probably be a good bit cheaper as well. Try looking at somewhere like this for an idea of prices. http://www.acerdirect.co.uk/

samdiatmh
neither tbh neither laptop has an dedicated graphics card, which is what you need (you still want to watch the 3d next year right) though personally, i would go for this at 730 (or 729.99) http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-A660-1H7/1102325/toshibaShop/true/#
The Lambs
If you do look at a Dell, go directly to them and hunt around for a discount. I recently brought a Dell XPS1701x. I got £170 off on the site and then found a code I could enter to get another 10% off the price. Making my expensive desktop replacement a hell of a lot cheaper. The price range you are looking at might only give you a 5% discount, but every penny counts in this day and age.
megafan2005
Having bought a desktop replacement in July of last year I would highly reccommend Dell. Although they have a bad reputation I found everything bar the delivery time from them exceptional. I went for an i7 from the studio touchscreen brand and I think its an excellent processor except it gets incredibley hot!
mgershon02
I am getting a new macbook pro and wondering if a NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics card and Intel Core 2 Duo is good enough for the 3D part of the game or should I get the Intel Core i5 and NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M with 256MB graphic card. harvs360
as much as i appreciate all the pros of a mac book, its just outside my budget which is why i was asking for opinions on this re-furb laptop and wondered peoples opinions on it. http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/hp-envy...14990-pdt.html Just came accross this one ^ i know its a refurb but it seems to be reduced a hell of alot compared to it on laptops direct!!!!! http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/HP_En...EA/version.asp
phantom9in
I have a Toshiba Tecra M3-S636, and it has had NO problem running FM11, that is until the video chip came loose, now gotta go it fixed for $100 or wait til I can afford a new laptop. ORIGINAL SPECS: Intel Pentium M 750 / 1.86 GHz, 512MB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce Go 6200 TE(64MB)...I did upgrade to 2GB RAM, and that is the only thing I upgraded. I have XP Pro on it, but have had Vista and Win7 on it also. So, I suggest you get one that you can afford, because if my laptop can run it with no real hang ups, and it is 7 years old, than basically anyone you buy now can run it. Smurf
The laptop only has 4gb of memory. Windows in 64 bit will use 2gb and Football Manager will use 2gb (I think, it could be 1 gb? I can't remember) Anyway - if you're going with a 64bit system i recommend no less than 6gb if you're going to be multi-tasking.
