kowak
Will sugar daddy on fmh/fmhi 2011 give us a bigger/unlimited wage budget like it used to on older versions. Just because I've been Ajax now for 20 seasons and won the champions league 10 times and have got sugar daddy on, but still can only offer players 65k a week but you would think that now I have built the club as big as real and united you would think by now I could offer massive wages. Bale03
Please can we customise our own formations? Makes me mad to see Wigan I believe playing a 4-4-1-1 but across top of there page says 4-5-1. Why cant I play this formation?
whoismilan
First, I'm absolutely OK with the FMHi being much simpler than the PC version, that's how I want it. However, there are some things I'd like to see in the FMHi version: - I'd like to be able to make my own formations, or at least have more formations to pick from. This was especially noticeable during the World Cup, where quite a few teams played with one striker, and I wanted to play with similar formations in FM. - I'd like to be able to set some position-specific instructions, such as whether I want my full backs to be more defensive or offensive. - I'd like to be able to pick a captain. Even if it didn't affect anything, I'd still want it, because in my head I would still pretend like it does affect something. - Lastly, I'd really like a "Compare players" function. There are others, but these are the main ones.

Vane
I say it every year for PSP. iPhone version needs it too. A one liner after each match telling you what the fans thought of it like in the PC version.
JPT
Just to agree with some earlier posts... customisable formations or if this is not possible a bigger range of preset formations to choose from- especially 4-2-3-1 and its variations compare players would be good too also not sure if this is just me being stupid, but I've managed to overwrite a 1.5 seasons old save game by accidently saving over the top of it- maybe a confirm message for if you are saving into a slot other than the one that you loaded from great version though. i've found the pc version too time consuming lately so nice to have a simpler version, there was something to be said for the old cm games back in the day
Taebo
I like the fact that it is a simpler version of FM and much quicker to play without having to go to an hour or two of setting up your team before going past the first day. Some details which are omitted are great and suitable for smaller version like this (details of scouts and coaches, instructions on them, etc.). What I would prefer to have is more variety on tactics (can be presets, but more choices). More positional choices (DM R/L?) can be useful (or at least fix the natural position for players who have DM R as their only natural position in full FM - eg. dani alves - to have D R as their natural position, the same thing that SI did with wingers who have their only natural position as AM R will automatically have natural position in M R too). Other than that I pretty much understand limitations that SI have to fit this game into iphone.
Taebo
Just to make my point clearer, right not dani alves does not have a natural position coz his natural position would be DM R but the game does not have position in formation to fit this role, meaning he will be useless unless you play him out of position. whoismilan
The problem: If you play on two devices, you cannot play using the same save. This means it's not possible to e.g. play on the iPhone when you're away from home, and then come home and enjoy the game on the larger screen on the iPad. Solution: One of the fairly new and almost completely forgotten features of iOS, is the support for file sharing. With file sharing, it would be possible to copy the save game from one iDevice to the computer, either because you want to then move it to a different device, or for backup/archive purposes. For more info on file sharing, see: http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/releasenotes/General/WhatsNewIniPhoneOS/Articles/iPhoneOS3_2.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40009337-SW11

superdelphinus
I think most of the technical aspects of the game are fine for a quick, slimmed down version of the game (the only thing i'd add is individual player roles and a formation editor). What I think needs to be worked on is immersion, after all 90% of football manager is played in your head!

Really? I was under the impression it would work with all devices, at least with iOS 4. I have no idea if this is the same File Sharing functionality as what you'd have to use to transfer saved game data (although I had assumed so, this is where I got the idea from in the first place), but I have an iPhone 3GS running the latest firmware (4.0.2), and am transferring documents to and from the application "GoodReader". Tully7
Finding it hard to understand how the most commonly employed formation in the premiership is not an option on FMHi at the moment. 451/433 with 2 advanced wingers supporting the striker. Think the most common central midfield is 1 DM and 2 CM but also notice this year we have a few clubs playing 2 CMs and 1 AM. The current tactics on FMHi really are too outdated and rigid. Other updates it would be nice to see are an editor and players ability to learn/specialise in new positions.

SI Staff Marc Vaughan Posted August 30, 2010 SI Staff Share Posted August 30, 2010 - 4-3-3 with DMC and AML/R instead of 3 MC and 3 FC. I don't know whether it's treated as the same thing by the engine, I feel uncomfortable putting the likes of Messi/Ronaldo/Ribbery/Robben as FC (especially if it is not their Natural position). This formation has been added in for FMHi 2011 now, I've also added in the 4-4-1-1 formation someone else requested in this thread. - IMHO, I agree that Player Insructions is too sophisticated for FMH (especially for an update), but I think Player Roles can be the middle-ground. Even simply providing Attack/Defense/Auto setting would do, though I wouldn't say no to actual Roles like in FM (Ball Winning Midfielder, Deep Playmaker, etc) I'm going to evolve the tactics a little but as you mentioned its important to keep things streamlined and easy to utilise/understand .... so watch this space (sorry but I can't give details yet - the business chaps wouldn't be particularly happy if I spilt the beans now). edina
Would be delighted if we could see the following for the PSP: 1. Half Time team talks (even a limited number of pre-set choices) 2. (A lot) more media interaction 3. Realistic club wage structures (i.e. how can clubs in the SPL, bar the Old Firm, afford to pay £8k per week to players?! I'm sure same applies to League 1 clubs etc) 4. Realistic signings via transfers and bosmans (i.e. how can Leeds Utd in League 1 attract bosman's such as Zenden or top division French players?) 5. More player interaction 6. Fans views after a match 7. Match attendances 8. Pre-game manager reputation 9. Better Reserves or B team options and AI 10. Ability to improve infrastructure (i.e upgrade stadium, stands, training centre etc) 11. More up to date formations Appreciate space will be at a premium but any scope to cut out non-essential or unpopular features?

To be quite honest I'd be happy with the current iPhone version (or the FM2011 version) just with the screen layout designed for iPad (text size, fitting more data on screen) rather than just doubling the iPhone version size. LetsBe
First of all, I would like to thank you Marc for the excellent app. I have few things to suggest here for FMHi2011. 1) Once foreign-league managers are sacked or retired, those clubs never appoint another manager. (For example, when Guardiola took position of Spain manager, Barcelona never again bothered with another manager ). I understand that users not being allowed to apply for foreign-league manager position, but maybe the game could appoint other managers instead of having no managers at all? 2) It seems that generated players are limited in their nationality. I have never seen an Asian player generated. 3) More variety in methods of selling/buying players perhaps? For example, a player A+10m for a player B. 4) When loaning a player, the only offers I get are from the same nation I am playing in. Could this be fixed so that other leagues make loan offer for the player? 5) If possible, an option of watching the whole match? (like on-off button for only highlights / whole match) Once again, thanks.

(For example, when Guardiola took position of Spain manager, Barcelona never again bothered with another manager ). I understand that users not being allowed to apply for foreign-league manager position, but maybe the game could appoint other managers instead of having no managers at all? The reason for this is simply a job will only get filled in an inactive league if the right standard manager is available - otherwise it'll use an invisible virtual manager of that standard. This is to prevent teams in inactive leagues being placed at a disadvantage because they have a poor manager. 2) It seems that generated players are limited in their nationality. I have never seen an Asian player generated. I'll check into this - although I can say I've improved a LOT of the regeneration side of the game for FMHi 2011. 3) More variety in methods of selling/buying players perhaps? A few people have requested this sort of thing no promises - but watch this space. 4) When loaning a player, the only offers I get are from the same nation I am playing in. Could this be fixed so that other leagues make loan offer for the player? What sort of players are you loaning out? - also do bear in mind irl loans abroad are fairly rare and not really the 'norm' unless the player in question is special or from a different region. 5) If possible, an option of watching the whole match? (like on-off button for only highlights / whole match) A whole match option won't be available in the short term - but if a lot of people request something along these lines long term I will consider it, although tbh I don't think it suits the handheld playing experience that much (simply put in the main the handheld games are aimed at a faster playing experience - something which a 60 minute match doesn't really 'gel' with imho). enthon
Dear Marc Ones more my complaint about the game balance which must be adjusted in next version to avoid frustration. To analyse my observations I have picked up every information by hand out of my matches for the last 5 seasons - The results is that with increasing strenghts of your team the goal ratios compared to shots and shorts on goal are dropping dramatically. This means that with tonns of games finished with 6-1 ratio for shots on goal I was happy to win some games by two goals difference. My analysis shows some interesting aspects: For all games with winning odds more than 30% the game balance gets increasingly worse - means I need more and more goal shots to win the game. Any improvements implemented for the new version? Greetings Oliver
Cranminho
is there anychance that for the 2011 versionmanagers can apply for jobs in different national leagues? would be great to advance a career through Italy, Spain and England. or even begin in Australia then move to Europe. SI Staff Marc Vaughan Posted October 25, 2010 SI Staff Share Posted October 25, 2010 For all games with winning odds more than 30% the game balance gets increasingly worse - means I need more and more goal shots to win the game. This is generally down to the opposition playing more defensively when they think they're likely to lose - which in turn means less clear cut chances and thus a lower shot/goal ratio (the same is generally true irl in such circumstances incidentally). If you want to try and up your shot/goal ratio try playing a less agressive style of play (just a hunch on my part but you play attacking?) - that'll encourage the opposition forward a little more and possibly give you a better conversion rate. Any improvements implemented for the new version? Yeah I've been busy beavering away on the iPhone version and I think you'll all be impressed ... unfortunately I'm not allowed to speak about the new game until closer to its release though, sorry. viboon
Hi Marc, I've played through 16 game-seasons now, winning 3 EPL titles and a few Cups. Here are some items that I would like to see improved in FMH 2011 for iPhone. In random order: 1. I have not seen a non-brazilian World Player! This is despite one season where my team won almost everything domestically and in Europe... my top striker who is also top MoM player in the league didn't even make it to the English national team, let alone World Player. Doh! Is there a reason for the game to constantly choose Brazilian as World Player? 2. Re-gen players should be from more countries. I play in the EPL and most re-gens are from England, Italy, Spain and Brazil. There are the occasional from Africa and France, but as a poster above points out, more from Asia and other European countries please. 3. Value of a player fluctuates a lot from season to season. If an established player doesn't start much for one season due to my rotation policy (not injury) - for example from 40+ game starter to about 20+ games, then his value will drop drastically. In real life, this won't be the case, especially if he is still in the national team. Same can be said for his Ability and Potential ratings. 4. There seems to be a "pattern" of teams from bottom of the league drawing or winning against team from the top end of the league. Marc, I know you'll attribute this to complacency, or teams defending deep and get lucky... but this seems to happen too often... even when I field all my best players against bottom of the league teams! 5. The top end of EPL are usually the same teams every season, if excluding my team, then: Liverpool, ManU, Arsenal, ManCity and Bolton are the usual suspects. Furthermore, it is usually the same few teams being promoted and demoted. Perhaps there should be the occasional "wild card" team breaking into the top 6? 6. I have been named onto the Board, yet my "status" at the beginning of every season is still "Safe", not "Secure"? This is probably a bug more than a request. 7. Lastly, I would like to request for more types of misses or scoring highlights. For example, not many highlights of scoring through nifty passes even when my team plays "short passes". Will stop here for now. Thanks for reading and hope the next version of FMH will be super!
