Supergtaz
Just some random tip to save money for your club if you didnt know, i play FM08 way to much and its tried and tested in most situations, in FM08 Signing on fees mean basically nothing to players, if you have no competition for the contract or renewing contracts, regardless of how much they ask for, giving a player £0 will basically not affect the contract deal. When a player is asking for £3mil signing on fee when renewing, if you offer £0, they will accept as long as they are happy with their Wages/App fee etc. Anybody else ever noticed this? Neji
Yeah, I've noticed this too but for some reason, I still give them one!
Supergtaz
I normally still give them 100-300k just to make sure.. lol
Ryknow
I never give it to them. It makes no difference. Later on your loyal players wont ask for signing on fee when you renew their contract, its awesome. I have 3-4 top players that have stayed at the same wage and bonuses every time I renew their contract. Think that might have something to do with high loyalty and low ambition...but dont know. Might look into it with FMM.
FestyF
Yes, I knew this since I started playing FM. I've never ever played a single penny on 'fees' for about thousands of transfer deals. It's a bug imo.

Arkim
I've never experimented with this, but if it does work, than I will definately be using it in FM 09 provided its still in effect. It would sure save me a lot of money. Thanks for the tip, hope it works in FM 09.
rougess
i was so happy when i found this out, after all, when you sign big players they often ask for 5Mil odd, then the money saved with renewals, you're probably looking at least a saving of 10Mil per year
TomHAVFC
I feel like an idiot after reading this thread as I always give out Signing on fees to make sure the player comes to me.
03bault
why would you give it to them if you know it makes no difference lol
Gerry-Atric
Yeah u can take the £3million signing off fee of them, but heaven forbid you try and take the £5k a week apperance fee of them, they will throw a paddy.

NCFC Gee
I never knew this was the case, it will certainly make handling finances in Northern Ireland that little bit easier.
Supergtaz
This is nothing new, i've done it for 2-3 years. I think this is more of a 'bug' newer to FM07/FM08 as I think I remember players rejecting contracts in the past because I tried to save money on Signing On Fees. For realism sake it should be fixed but then do players really get big fees for just renewing their contracts? Would a £3mil fee be realistic, I am not really sure how it works.
