WELCOME TO THE THREAD OF GLASGOW RANGERS

BRINGING THE GLORY DAYS BACK TO IBROX

I072cXv.jpg?1

Rangers Football Club is a Scottish football club based in Glasgow, which plays in the Scottish Championship – the second tier of the Scottish Professional Football League. Their home ground is Ibrox Stadium in the south-west of the city.

In domestic football, Rangers have won more league titles and trebles than any other club in the world, winning the league title 54 times, the Scottish Cup 33 times and the Scottish League Cup 27 times, and achieving the treble of all three in the same season seven times. In European football, Rangers was the first British club to reach a UEFA tournament final. It won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1972 after being runner-up twice in 1961 and 1967. A third runners-up finish in Europe came in the 2008 UEFA Cup. Rangers have a long-standing rivalry with Celtic, the two Glasgow clubs being collectively known as the Old Firm since the late 19th century.

The club's most distinct rivalry is with Glasgow neighbours Celtic F.C.; the two clubs are collectively known as the Old Firm, though they are not currently playing in the same league. Rangers' traditional support is largely drawn from the Protestant Unionist community, whilst Celtic's traditional support is largely drawn from the Catholic community. The first Old Firm match was won by Celtic and there have been nearly four hundred matches played to date.

My Aim is to topple Celtic and restore Glasgow Rangers back to being the kings of scottish football,Bringing the glory days back to Ibrox.

FACILITIES

The club has one if not the best set of training facilities in Scotland,Definetely right up there with Celtic's.The team play at Ibrox Stadium with a 50,000 capacity most times.

1vd4E6B.png

TACTICS

This is the tactic i will be using most of the season if not all, with the players at my disposal should be easily winning the Scottish Championship, although Hibs and Hearts will give me a stern test too.

BUDGETS

Unfortunately, there isnt much of a budget so to speak of.You start off with a budget of 100k but this can be juggled about, squadwise there is a lot of deadwood so hopefully raise some funds from this.

PLAYING SQUAD

Cammy Bell(GK) Number one keeper solid between the sticks.

Steve Simonsen(GK) Back up keeper, probably try get rid of him when a better back up keeper becomes available.

Lee Robinson(GK) Not needed, release or sell him.

Lee Wallace(DEF) Valuable member of the squad, get him signed up on a long term deal to avoid the Bigger clubs prising him away.1st Pick

Marius Zaliukas(DEF) Solid centre half, decent stats at this level bit on the slow side though could get done for pace.

Darren Macgregor(DEF) Another decent centre half, very determined, will probably start at the back with Zaliukas.

Bilel Mohsni(DEF) Not too bad a centre half too,in my opinion just slightly worse than Zaliukas and Macgeregor, rotation option maybe.

Sebastien Faure(DEF) Back up defender thats about it,stats are ok,nothing great.

Richard Foster(DEF) First Choice right back, when you can get a right back in,stats arent the best, probably look to sell him in due course.

Stevie Smith(DEF) Back up Left Back, sell him when you can, poor stats.back-up to wallace nothing more.

Lee Mcculloch(MID) Veteran midfielder, probably get a season or that out of him thats about it,versatile player also the captain.

Ian Black(MID) Solid midfielder, good stats for this level, decent passer of the ball.

Kyle Hutton(MID) Back up player to Mcleod,Mcculloch,Black should be looking to move him on

Lewis Mcleod(MID) Superb young talent.Keep this young boy at all costs, get a good contract sorted out for him add-ons etc etc.

Fraser Aird(MID/WNG) Good young prospect, decent stats, needs a bit of work on the training ground id reckon though.keep him.

Nicky Law(MID) Excellent player for the team, good stats, should get you a few goals sitting in behind the forward.

David Templeton(WNG) Pacey winger, very injury prone in my view though, have to be careful with him with how&when you play him.

Dean Shiels(MID/WNG) Not too bad a winger, also play in midfield,if you can though replace him stats arent the best to be honest.

Kris Boyd(FWD) Undisputed first choice striker, should be scoring a barrel load in this league.

Kenny Miller(FWD) Veteran striker still has it,good rotation option with Boyd,or even play him up top with him dep. on formation you use.

Jon Daly(FWD) Starts off injured, decent back up for Boyd and Miller.

Nicky Clark(FWD) Back up really nothing else, probably only a handful of games will be played.

Youth Prospects:

Luca Gasparotto(DEF) Starts off out on loan should turn out to be a great talent hopefully.

Barrie Mckay(WNG) Another who starts off out on loan, nuture and train him well and could be a star in the making.

steff, how good do you think Mcleod could end up being? he should end up being a top player irl, so id like to think he is rated similarly in the game (this coming from a celtic fan)

also, when the full game is released i was thinking of putting celtic and rangers in the barclays premiership, but obviously it could be a very short stay with both squads as they are. i was planning on tinkering with the finances a bit so that both squads can be competitive in the league, so i was just wondering what kind of budget you reckon rangers would need in order to do this?

Hi Michael,

Well firstly id say given the right development and training Lewis Mcleod could easily be a 4* in the game, irl hes a fantatstic prospect too.Reckon maybe a budget of at least 7m say would be a given starting point. To be honest peronally im not really a fan of moving teams around etc.

7mil....is that maybe missing a zero? that would barely buy one player for premiership level!

i get that some people dont like moving teams around but theres only so many times i can play ross county 4 times a season and not get bored and matches just arent that challenging. id like to see celtic and rangers playing in a league where there are plenty of teams as big as them to really give a challenge

Latest News:

Got the loan signing of Paddy Mccarthy from Palace until the end of the season, and trying to get Mamadou Doumbia in from Bastia,as at present defence is shocking.Lee Wallace trying his hardest to get a move away to Wolves but nothing under a bid of 2M will be accepted.Getting decimated by injuries at the minute too currently injured are Shiels,Simonsen,Mcculloch,Hutton,Clark,Templeton,Law,Daly,Murdoch.struggling to even field a team just now.

On the field we are doing not so bad a bad opening defeat against Hearts with me getting 2men sent off didnt help in getting gubbed 4-1,but pulled it back with 3-2 wins against Dunfermline(Petrofac Cup) and Falkirk.

Currently 6th after 2 games so lets see if we can push on hopefully no more injuries.

Having a First Look at this i disagree slightly, but obviously agree with you on the stats/referings you made. This is how i would change the team:

Goalies: Just keep Cammy Bell, sell Simonsen and loan out Robinson (or keep him), promote Kelly to Reserve keeper. Let him play against lower teams in the cup´s.

Selling Robinson immediately will hurt your team morale a bit. Make decisions early to get a young talented keeper who outplays Bell in 1-2 Seasons (maybe immediately).

Defenders: Keep Wallace, but he seems to have his attributes lowered a bit in regards to FM13&14. Sell Faure, Foster and maybe Smith. Get a young defender or wait for Gasparotto (if he can deliver, he didnt for me in FM14). Try to get a 2,3 defenders for season 2. Offload the oldies then.

Midfield: Keep McCulloch and hope he will become a coach with good attributes (for you). Sell Nicky Law, and maybe Hutton, get in 1 talented winger. or 2. Try to replace atleast Shiels for the Season in SPL (when you get promoted, which will be easy with that squad).

Strikers: Nice that Kris Boyd has rejoined, failed to sign him in all previous versions. Sell Kenny Miller (after the season) & Nicky Clark (immediately), let Daly be your backup until his contract runs out. Get a highly talented youth/talent/regen/whatever for getting tutored by Boyd and be your striker until you offload him to a EPL Club for around 20 Million.

Youth: I havent looked yet but the obvious choice here is Barrie McKay and Gasparotto, also Hendrie can become decent as Liam Kelly can. Iam tempted to offload of the 19-21 year olds like that Striker from Curacao whos name i cant remember and some other guys...but i will have a look at this later. Edit: Later: You could promote Pascazio to First team as backup right defender or buy a better one. Promising: Lewis White, Sinnamon, Lyon, Jeffries, Hendrie, Clark?

Everyone alot of fun with their rangers saves.

Staff: Iam just on day 2 of my rangers save but i offloaded most of the staff beside Jim Stewart and Ian Durrant. In the verge of signing Arthur Albiston, Dave Hanson, Neil Murray, Michel Roman so they will maybe also join you.

Obviously its a shame Berry Ferguson is too weak to make it in my team this year. :(

I am now in January of my 2nd season with Rangers. Currently top of the league having been promoted last year through the play offs after finishing 2nd in the Championship. I have not received nor spent any money on transfers, they have al been free or loans.

C6vvcN8.png

This is the most successful tactic I use with the best players for each position

I took Dedryk Boyata on Loan again this year but it doesnt show here and neither does my loans out

Just a note, Board will haul you in and threathen the sack if you drop below 3rd, happened twice to me.Injuries to McLeod, Law, Boyd and Temps was no excuse. Was set a target of 10 points in 5 games to keep my job. 1 win and I am top again .

Very trigger happy Board

Right, if you're not here to further the actual purpose of this thread stay out, or infractions will follow.

Seems like every year there is a few idiots on both sides determined to try an create an issue.

On a more positive note i am looking forward to geting FM15, probably in Dec/Jan as i am travelling overseas till then, and having a good Gers save.

Yeah won the championship but really struggling now i'm up in the top division.

what formation you using at the moment,at present im using a 4231 boyd up top templeton miller on the wings, law just in behind boydy.mcleod and black in midfield, wallace and foster as the FBS(supporting) zaliukas and mcgregor centre half.

Maybe have a look on the tactics section of the forum and have a look there.still early days in my career so cant really gauge yet how im doing, just frinished pre season.

I deleted my other game by accident so i'm having to start again and i've taken some advice from here.

Out - Peralta to St Mirren £30k plus add ons

In - All loans

Foley from Wolves

Green from Everton

Vukcic from Newcastle

Kane from Chelsea

Boyata from Man City

I've put Hutton, Foster and Robinson up for sale/loan but had no offers so far. In my last save Sheils dad took over so i managed to bin him and i got some decent free transfers in my second season but i'm sure the full release will put a stop to that haha I'm going to let most of the first team go when the contracts expire even though one or two might be quite handy in the game i can't stand them in real life (Black for example) so it's going to be a complete rebuild needed

I wonder if they will put Ashley in charge and give us some money to spend? lol

That would be rather interesting if they included Mike Ashley, dont see any reason why they wouldnt to be honest.I too tried to get Boyata he refused though for some reason, and like you probably will let the contracts run down.

Coupleof things i noticed.... if you want to keep Junior Ogen then you have to renew his contract straight away. He is refused a work permit if you try to renew his contract later.

John Fleck moves from Coventry and you get money if you cash in his buy out clause but it disappears quickly so take it when it's offered. Think its roughly 300k

Yip, was sacked . Third in Champs and out of cups. Was playing a 41231 formation, with all sort of instructions. Started again with a straight out the box 4231 wide formation, no instructions and see whats happens this time.

Sounds pretty dissapointing, thing you have to keep in mind i think is that the instructions on the tactics have to kind of tie in with each other if that makes any sense, tactic i made up is a bit like that, found that if you dont it can lead to a few disasters. On my game just now just managed to get Dickson Etuhu on a free transfer looks a decent player for this level,Doumbia transfer got caught up in WP problems.

That's unlucky. I was threatened with the sack on my first season but was lucky enough to win the remaining games. If your struggling with formations you should try and see if focusing your training to team cohesion and tactics helps, especially at the start of the season. I noticed that my team played far better after a month of tactics and teamwork training

I too also done that at the start of the season dewey,i focused more on the tactical side of things, seems ok so far, couple of dodgy results but im working with limited resources at the moment.

Unfortunately this save has been a disaster, was knocked out in the 2nd round of the league cup by Hibs, knocked out in the semi final of the Petrofac Cup by Hearts, and was languishing in 5th place in the Championship.

Had a horrendous amount of injuries though which obviously didnt help.

Promptly sacked halfway through October unfortunately.

Well after being sacked twice, I started a third save by changing a few staff and adopting a 443 formation, with wingbacks and 2 inside forwards. Amazingly it just clicked straight away and I won the Championship by 14 points. Also had a run in the League Cup where I beat Celtic 3 - 1, then Aberdeen 2- 1 , and finally Dundee 4 - 1 to lift the trophy.

Lets see what the top League holds.
