Stephanie McMahon's Secret Lover
So yet again I'm checking on the teams chasing promotion and yet again WOLVES are in the top 4. Everytime I start a new game these guys are top 4.
Guest
IMO it's a combination of low rep (bigger clubs take a win for granted), good mental attributes across their playing staff & Steven Fletcher who is the prototypical FM striker.
Eastwood
Promotion from Championship? Surely you'd expect them to be there with current squad? And like Barside said, Fletcher is amazing on it.
Guest
The OP is talking about how good they are in season 1 of the game which has them playing in the Premier League, I think the mode average finish for them is 5th & not too far off finishing 4th. Eastwood
Oh yeah just the "chasing promotion" part threw me off a bit. Definitely need knocking down anyway, never seen top five myself but usually comfortably in top ten.
Guest
I don't think that the players are individually overrated, it just that collectively they manage to hit a sweet spot with the ME & as I mentioned above the influence of reputation is crucial with teams who are not significantly better going all out for the win when playing Wolves only to get done by a conservative counter attacking style. It's similar to the situation we had a couple of version ago when Arsenal were pretty much unstoppable because their default playing style perfectly suited the ME at that time. Themer
Haven't seen this at all. On mine they finished 15th first season, and then 17th for another couple of season before being relegated, promoted, relegated and then promoted again.
Stephanie McMahon's Secret Lover
It's a bit silly really. I can accept it as an occasional thing but I don't recall them ever being away from challenging for the champions league positions in new games in the 1st season. Drazkul
On my save they finished 9th first season, 2nd 18th, 3rd season won promotion back to the premier league, 4th season 17th, and are sitting in 11th in my 5th season.
Play Up Pompey!
They haven't done so well on my save, after 7 years they're in league one with insecure finances.
Kyle_123
Ah if only FM was real life, id be a happy man. On most of my saves they do pretty decent, they always seem to sign a decent centre midfielder, or a young promising striker, and go on to be top 10 easy every year. Rikulec
Doyle, Fletcher and Jarvis. At least when I played them.
SCIAG
I have never seen them finish in the top four, but they are capable of playing really well and being in the top half for long periods. I had one save where Fulham won the league first season and there is generally one unexpected team doing really well. I reckon in Wolves' case at least it is down to them being too mentally resilient.
Stephanie McMahon's Secret Lover
They do seem to have very strong mental stats such as determination.
Savo7en
In my recent game, having just completed my 6th season, wolves finshed as follows: 11th, 12th, 10th, 13th, 19th (premier League), 9th (championship) Nothing special in my mind, perhaps a bit better than in reality but then again Liverpool have challenged for the league title in my game most seasons aswell!!! eple
Finished 15th on my game in 1st season. Fletcher had zero goals in 12 games. 2nd season they are 15th after 14 games. Fletcher still hasn't scored after 9 games.
kccircle
Relegated in the first season. Promoted in the second and finished no higher than 11th in any of the next 10 seasons. Interestingly enough, Fletcher only left them to take up as Ass Man position at Dundee after 11 seasons there
