ASIL Lysi

ASIL Lysi (Greek: ΑΣΙΛ Λύσης) is a Cypriot football club which was established in the town of Lysi, Famagusta. After the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974, ASIL became a refugee team and is temporarily based in the Grigoris Afxentiou Stadium in Larnaca. The club plays in the Cypriot Second Division.

The club was founded in Lysi, Famagusta on June 26, 1932. Club founders were Ch. Fokaides, Ch. Panayides, K. Rousi and N. Petrou. The choice for the club's name is attributed to Demetris Lambrou. The best season for the club was 1968–69 in which they finished 6th in the first division.

The club colours are yellow and black. The emblem of the club is the discus thrower to symbolise the club's commitment to the olympic ideals and true sportsmanship.

After much deliberation about my save I wanted something that would be challenging enough to keep me going for longer than the Metz save as i'm off work long term with a broken heel so while my pace is probably going to be reasonably quick in terms of getting through years I don't want something that is only 10 seasons long or so as i'm likely to be off for another 4 weeks at the very least :D:( Georgia did cross my mind as I am using Classen's DB for this as did Malta and Andorra but eventually I decided I wanted a Southern Europe save and Cyrus seemed more appealing to me for some reason.

Next was deciding the level, APOEL while would still be difficult would be relatively easy and in all honesty once you get past them with any other club in the top flight with the advantage of being in that division at the start it probably wouldn't take too much longer to achieve European success so I decided to start in the bottom division and hopefully the AI will have a few sides challenging  APOEL to make it a challenge when I get to the top flight.

To add to that challenge I have decided that I am allowed a maximum of 5 foreigners and a maximum of 2 that aren't either Greek, Turkish or Armenian and after the 3rd season in the top flight it will be 3 of either Greek, Turkish or Armenian nationality only (unless they have come through our own youth system)  The hope here is to reignite the NT and maybe i'll even go for that job myself at some stage.

I didn't pick ISIL as such, I used the random team option until a club in the 3rd tier came up (which took forever :D ) it's probably FM11 the last time I did this but the random option has led to some of my most favourite saves so hopefully it'll work out that way again.

There's not a lot to start with and with no assistant I couldn't even evaluate the squad properly so I put in adverts for the jobs allowed which wasn't much in all honesty and I may add a DoF just to help for a year a little later.

jobs.JPG.6e0fb8a0341a68385670d324d27b30cb.JPG

Fast forward 3 weeks and with an ass man and other staff in place I finally got a better understanding of the squad

squad.thumb.JPG.4f72588749d4f05dd3c23b1088b56ce9.JPG

It's very unbalanced with no CB's anywhere in the squads good enough really (the u21's and 18's have a 3 and half and a 4 star potential to play there between them but neither are higher than 3 silvers atm) so I have one scout out on youth prospects 15-21 and the other is looking to get anyone possible :D I also allowed my HOYD to make bids for players but i'll have the final say if they come in as they'd have to be 3 stars CA at the very least as I need players for now and our budget is very tight as you can imagine.

finances.thumb.JPG.6fda768a824e888f9ff007cfb48d9e2c.JPG

As for the DB it isn't a really big one

leagues.thumb.JPG.3f825de5bc4c801cf1db5ba0c1f3a5d7.JPG

Added a few top leagues to keep it competitive and all of Turkey and Greece due to being allowed to sign for there, Malta is only loaded as I did have it in my head for a while to go there but now i've settled on Cyprus I just wanted to see if they'd improve as a playable nation.

As final note for this post I did manage to find a few pictures of the stadium which surprised me :D

Larnaca-GrigorisAfxentiou-2.jpg.73bdd415483929a2ffd7d29d980de92c.jpgLarnaca-GrigorisAfxentiou-7.jpg.667450649297ad08489a22ff17f01371.jpgLarnaca-GrigorisAfxentiou-17.jpg.d2791937b5953bc0bbb67be5a9256339.jpg

Not sure there's much potential to expand here but it's going to be a while before I need to worry about that anyway :D

Good luck with this, had a save a few FMs ago which passed through Cyprus (with Pachanicki I think it was) and I enjoyed my short time there. Always interested in smaller nations/league compared to the mainstream ones.

Thanks. Part of the reason for this was the complete unknown :p i've gone for a few players but only managed 1 so far. I'm finding that it's hard to gauge how good somebody is, for example i've lost a CB that was only rated 1 star to the side (PAEEK) that's tipped to be top and the 2nd favourites tried to take one that is also 1 star but thankfully kept hold of him so if sides like that are only taking 1 stars that could mean there's a case of a lack of any decent defenders in the whole division and might not be too much of a problem short term if they aren't of great quality. Obviously this might not be the case but it's making me think any signings I do make shouldn't be given a contract to more than the end of the season so i'm not stuck with rubbish for years. I'll have a better idea once we finally play a few games but for now i'm reluctant to sign anyone in case it's wasting money

I think at the level you're at and extremely in my case starting at level 10 and now in level 8, its picking players yourself than those being recommended by scouts etc. Part time contracts are perfect as they only sign for a season at a time so you won't be stuck with them. Also I have a Cypriot regen striker I signed as a 17 year old and he has 17 goals in 11 games and played for the U21 national team 3 times. He will do a job for me for a good few seasons to come.

The club I managed was Paralimni not what I said, I just checked the teams.

A better start than expected though just on the highlights you can see the standard isn't very good at all. Take away 2 or 3 of the 3+ star players and I have no doubt we'd be faring a lot worse.  We are likely to lose at least 4 of those players after this season too as they won't renew contracts which long term is a very bad situation to be in if we do indeed keep at this rate and gain promotion as getting higher quality players was already going to be a tough ask, to lose our best players and be forced to replace them too whilst in a higher division could be disastrous for us but it's something i'll worry about when/if it happens.

I'm not too worried about signing anyone at the minute, especially with the start we've had I've decided unless I think the quality is a lot better than already there it's probably a good idea not to get anybody in as our resources for next year aren't going to be great so i'd rather keep the wage bill for this year as low as possible.

The unbeaten start is gone, we've lost our best center half, had 3 red cards that's meant playing at least 45 minutes with 10 men in those games yet we are still comfortable at the top and 1 more win guarantees promotion.

I'm slightly less worried about that thought now as i've noticed 4 teams gain promotion so whilst it looks like we'll lose 4/5 that make us stronger than the rest in this division there's 3 other sides that are going to be in the same position as us looking at the division above as it stands anyone up to 5th could go down so if it remains as tight next year then i'd be happy. I know i'm getting ahead of myself a little there but it's just a way to comfort what we are doing. Now i've thought it a promotion is probably the best thing for us anyway because losing 2 players as they are on non contracts is not an easy thing to take and if we stayed in this division it'll keep happening so at least being at a higher level should prevent sides in this division that can offer slightly more keep coming in and picking our best players.

A couple of signings in the last month

nikolaou.thumb.JPG.493fe8aedf59fb4fdd52e682be0370d3.JPGthemistokeleous.thumb.JPG.44af20294d58ee2dae48e5778ffb84cd.JPG

Picked these 2 up in February on youth contracts both are 2nd best according to assistant reports in their positions in the squad so would have got plenty of game time but due to registration rules they can't play. It isn't really a huge problem as the title is secured but getting them used to the squad for the final month would have been nice.

Also I took 2 of the youth candidates in March

laifis.thumb.JPG.7b42f90bb0af4cd978c99e217d8e6428.JPGkastanas.thumb.JPG.39a4d6b723d9ebe303636279d92b8434.JPG

Neither of these would get in the team yet unless there was an injury crisis but the potential was 5 stars on both so both signed up, if nothing else they make up the numbers for the youth sides for now.

Is a bit frustrating that younger players will only sign a youth contract, I always try and get them on some type of proper contract but that's the problem with LLM so i'll have to deal with it for now. Probably won't make much of a difference anyway because if any are any good I won't be able to keep hold of them too long anyway :D Just frustrating when you're used to a certain way of working :(

Cool beans, this looks more fun than I thought it would be beforehand.

One question, is that a logo pack meant for FM15 or a newer version? Doubting if I should get a FM18 one for FM17, so just making sure.

No let off even after getting promoted and being made champions soon afterwards. As I said at the beginning I didn't know what to expect from this season really as I am in the unknown here. It'll be the same the same next year and even in the top flight if/when we get there/i'm not sacked.

My impression of the division especially after seeing 2 CB's that were barely 2 stars snatched from me is that 4/5 above the rest will get you far, importantly for us with the season done I was able to sort out any contracts from the key players that were previously refusing to sign. That saves me a massive headache over the summer as we're not in a position to sign Chatzigeorgiou permanently on a Bosman  so a LW is added to the LB, CB, CMx2 we need at the very least. I do have targets but we haven't been given an updated budget yet so we're slightly short on the wages they want.

Aim for next season is to stay up and nothing more. we definitely need improvements in the areas I said but it's clear we're a lot better than the other 3 that came that came out of this division so i'm confident enough we can scrape it but i'm also aware it will be tough. The 2 that came in February will definitely help us even at their young age, I just wish that they came to the scouts attention earlier to get them settled and playing.

It's been good so far, not knowing what you are up against has made it interesting and how well we've done has surprised me because of that reason :)

The logo pack is for FM15, it's called  metallic logos fm15

Great work, Pittaras looking like he could do a job in the top division!! Also Nikolauo looks a good prospect, just need to work on his physicals.

What sort of budgets have you been set for next season?

Cheers. The ass man does say he'd be a good player for the top division but i'm taking that with a pinch of salt :D  He will be good enough for the B division though without a doubt.

Nikolauo is on a B2B schedule so hoping that will help with that, it's a bit of a shame his jumping, marking and anticipation aren't a bit higher or i'd consider moving him to CB but they're far too low to even get him at a decent enough level otherwise everything else wouldn't be too bad or be able to work on.

No budget at all yet unless i've missed it somehow but didn't see anything. It could be down to the fact the games finished in March and i'm only just in May, saying that though we're subject of a takeover too which is probably the reason for it more than anything else.

Thanks mate :) Yeah I think they're going to be really tough to crack if they invest correctly and also with the rule on foreigners I have set myself gives everyone an advantage over us too. I'm actually tempted to make it a no foreigner policy as well just to add to it as i've already seen the difference having 4/5 above everyone else can make in this country and I do want a challenge in this save.

Agree about the regen faces too :D I don't like the new ones either

Reasonably happy with the signings, managed to get players in the positions we badly needed to improve the squad a little and coupled with the incomings from February we definitely go in to the season a lot stronger.

After a start where we were flying recent weeks has seen it tail off quite a lot and as you can see there's only 4 points between us in 2nd to 8th spot. The main thing though is we have a 10 point lead from the final relegation spot. Last year 28 points was enough to stay up and with the top 8 being so tight and going by Assia's point per game average in the final relegation spot i'm pretty sure another 10 points will be enough.

The start does show with a few improvements we aren't far off a promotion challenge, injuries have played a slight part in our recent downfall but I also think full backs need improving on too and they'll be the areas I look at next.

takeover.JPG

Shame it wasn't a consortium but at least for now our finances are back in the black. I wasn't sure it would enough to get this but tried anyway and succeeded which is great as we couldn't do it last year

Cheers Delta, i'd have been happy with our position if offered it at the start of the season but obviously as those defeats were consecutive it makes it look worse :D In all honesty I am hoping we don't get promoted as the Ayia Napa result shows we're a bit behind the top flight as they were 10th at the time we played them

A much steadier run over the past 2 months sees us move in to 2nd with 7 games to go, i'm not sure how I feel about it as on one hand a promotion is great financially but on the other i'm not convinced we are ready for the move up yet. We have players at a good age and a few with plenty to grow but a season of struggle this early might not be the best thing for their development.

Not quite good enough as we had another dodgy spell which killed us off in regard to promotion. Over the season though I am very happy as my initial thoughts going in to the season was that we would be in a relegation scrap but fortunately we were never in danger of that.  With a new keeper, CB and LW coming in next season i'm hoping that we can push on that extra 10-15% for next season as there is signs we are very close to promotion and on this seasons showing that's got to be my aim. I went in to this season pretty unconfident as it was a step in to the unknown but after a season in the division you get an idea of the level both your and the other sides are at so I am happy enough to say I want to challenge for the promotion this time around.

One thing i've hated about Cyprus so far though is that from March the bottom 2 divisions don't play again until September. I would holiday these next few months but i'm not confident enough in my board to not sell someone behind my back so now i'll be wasting 40 minutes or so pressing continue  :(:D

One decent prospect in the youth intake this year, nowhere near ready to start but it's good to have a few over the past 2 seasons that might make it eventually. I do obviously want to try and get the youth coaching up but we're looking at a few years until it's anywhere near a good level

I think we've had a really good window this summer with big improvements in each of the positions compared to what is there. Hopefully there's enough to go for the promotion but we'll definitely give it a big go as I think we're one of the best in the division and at 5-4 the bookies think we've got a great chance too

unlucky with the late season form. But like you mentioned, it gives you time to really improve the squad for when you do get promoted.

I'm managing in Cyrpus right now. I'm managing Omonoia, I think that's the wrong spelling, but it wasn't difficult to dethrone APOEl because the AI makes bad transfers. I enjoy it, the only problem is that lack of awards or anything to recognize your players Not a big deal, but it's one of those things.

What tactics are you using? It seems like a more restrained tactic compared to your crazier ones

Loizou looks a great prospect especially. Great season considering, I think being promoted too quickly can have been disastrous, consolidation is always good.

Thanks. I agree about the promotion being too soon too. The good thing about the season we had was it shown me that whilst we do have players that could probably do well in the top flight that we were short in the positions I ended up going for in the summer so at least I have another season at least to evaluate it again and see what needs improving next.

Good that someone else in Cyprus  I'm hoping APOEL stay strong in this but looking at it they only made 4 transfers over 3 summers so not sure how strong they actually are, maybe for the time being at least due to my 2 foreigner rule it'll take a while to get past them as I imagine a lot of the Cypriots will end up being from our own academy once the upgrades start getting better.

As for the tactic it's a 4-3-3 winger formation. It's actually a lot more potent so far this year, though i've probably gone and got the dreaded loss of form after turning off last night now :D

Apart from one blip we've been excellent. The new signings have really helped us to push on and gain momentum early on and it seems like most of the division can't handle us.  From this position now i'd be disappointed if we didn't get promoted, but I am also wary that we had a great start last year and tailed off around the same stage but this year feels different as I know we are a much better unit and we did have a good year previously where we did much better than I expected.

Of the upcoming games it's not the league but a 2 legged tie against Paralimni who are 10th in the A Division that I look forward to as it gives me a better indication of what we will need to compete in the top flight, i'm realistic enough to know we won't win the cup but it would be nice to get past this round and play another top flight side twice and see how we fare against a higher standard.

We've carried on where we left off and only a couple of wins from securing promotion in super quick time. To have such a gap in a 26 game season just shows how good we have been.

I was pleased with our showing in the cup, it gives us hope we can at least pick up points when we go up next year even though we did lose the away leg but it was tight and took a late winner for them to finally stop us coming back.  The next tie will be a lot tougher as we go to AEL who at the time of writing are top (though only 2 points separating the top 4) but it is a pair of games i'm looking forward to watching and we are under no pressure to win so as long as we give it a go I think i'll find out a lot about the side and what is needed for next season.

It actually took 1 more game to seal the promotion which is brilliant with the 2 cup games coming up to go in to them on a real high. The budget for next year has been set too and it isn't that bad, Considering I won't be paying for players that extra in the kitty moved to wages might make a big difference in getting a really good player in.

Promoted as you know and though it took another 3 games to secure the title we managed it in the end and it was no less than we deserved really, we were consistently better than anyone else in the division so anything less would have been tough to take.

The cup games against AEL may have ended up in defeat but I was really pleased with both games, they took until the 78th minute in the 1st leg to finally break us down and we did have chances to get on the scoresheet ourselves. In the 2nd leg we missed a penalty to go 3-1 up and think if that had gone in then we may have enough won the game if not the tie but it was a great effort and in all honesty the performance was more important than the result and there was plenty of positives to take from the games.

I'm not really considering too many incomings during the summer, a CM or 2 is my concern and I already have a striker coming in from APEP, though he played out wide against us he caused problems when we played them and the reports were good, fortunately he is out of contract so I got him in and he'll be competition for Pittaras

Congrats for the promotion mate... AEL is one of good clubs in island...

Cheers, glad we got it done this year. Last year was too soon for us but I think with what we have and a few new faces coming in that we should be more equipped for the top flight now.

What a season. Pittaras and Loizou in exceptional form!

Thanks ;) Pittaras may get the goals (88 in 3 seasons is superb) but Loizou was superb last year. I almost didn't sign him as I bought Paraskeva the previous year and he didn't really put a foot wrong but Loizou was too good to turn down.

great work. Excited to see how you fair in the big leagues. The restriction on only 2 foreign signings should be a tough challenge

Cheers, i'm looking forward to it as well but as you'll see in the next post my expectations and the boards are quite a way apart :(:D  The 2 foreign signings is certainly going to make it tough but it gives me something to carry on going and makes sure I don't do what I did with Metz and win the CL within 10 years and get bored but I think once I can start getting upgrades more regularly that this will turn in to an almost exclusively homegrown save with hopefully most coming through our own ranks and try where possible to nab other talents if we're short anywhere as I want a crack with the national team if at all possible to do as a dual role.

I have kept Malta open if I do get to that stage of doing all I can so I can to keep this thread open as there was a tycoon takeover in the 2nd division during the first season and they've finally managed promotion so if they start to get it right now that will be a tough division if I feel i've done all I can. That's ages away though if it happens at all but it is something i'm keeping an eye on every now and then though I won't be reporting it on here unless something exceptional happens

With only 1 youth upgrade so far i'm hoping the philosophy change will encourage the board to make more upgrades once the money is there to do so. I'd have signed anyway but with little progress in the 3 years so far I felt anything to try and push this along was worth a try.

seats.thumb.JPG.6f8272d4f3c00569bba1df2a0a3eb0f5.JPG

As if one loan wasn't crippling us enough we have a 2nd but with it being league rules it's something i've got to suck up and accept if we are to move forward.

expectations.thumb.JPG.53229c9b9c2885306c7ad3e1a558e733.JPG

I was less than delighted when I seen this and thought they were being far too unrealistic in asking this considering 3 years ago we were in the 3rd division but it seems they aren't the only ones that expect us to do well this year

odds.thumb.JPG.898ca45db47fddb3140f711f23fd279f.JPG

To be predicted to be 7th seems a bit optimistic when at least 8 of these sides have been in the division for the entire time and another 2 for 3 of the 2 seasons especially when you look at the jump in odds between us and the side predicted 8th :D Personally i'll be delighted with 10th and anything else is a bonus.

Only these 3 came in, a back up at LB would have been nice but we do have Nikolou from the intake 2 seasons ago who can play there if needed so i'm happy enough with the squad.

Pangaiotou is a great signing for us, he gives Pittaras competition and if it wasn't for his finishing i'd be tempted to play him ahead of him, he's going to get plenty of games either off the bench or to give Pittaras a rest still though as we've been too reliant on him and any games he's missed over the past few years we've struggled so it's nice to have someone good enough to actually cover rather than make do.

We lost Savva in the summer who was 2nd fiddle to Foitas and wouldn't renew, while Foitas is still first choice he did end up missing around 10 games last year so Christofi is really good replacement, in fact as well as Savva did i'd say this lad isn't that far off Foitas and maybe in a year or 2 will over take him.

We lost 2 midfielders in the summer as I decided not to renew their contracts, with Paraskeva also able to play CM I decided to only bring 1 more in as that should do us due to probably having too many CM's. I've got a bit space to get another player if needed in January but hopefully we'll be fine with what we have.

A tough start for us but apart from the APOEL game we've been in them all so i'm not hitting the panic button just yet. I'm not sure if we're going to need a change of tactic or if we're maybe a lot worse than I thought and a few new faces in January are needed. I'm stuck with this squad for the time being anyway so I think i'll give this tactic another month before making a final decision on what's best to do. With the games mostly being very close there can't really be that much wrong with what I am doing or the players so it is a difficult situation to judge, hopefully the next month will make things a lot clearer.

I think this is probably the best way to sum the season up so far, work hard even with 10 men and go a goal, get ourselves in a position to win even after that and just fall that little short of seeing it out. Don't get me wrong a draw would have been a fair result but we're not having that bit of luck we need so far this season :( Even Pittaras can't hit a barn door

A better period for us finally getting a few wins on the board and it could have been a bit better but for seemingly everything go against us. This has been our injury list in the pas 5 games

injuries.thumb.JPG.ee380b38311a166b44dbbf36847a8dfb.JPG

which is pretty big for any club let alone us in our first season in the top flight, even Barry would have got playing time if he wasn't injured due to the amount we had out. On top of that we've had 4 suspensions with 3 currently having to serve the rest still so i'm delighted with the way it has been going really as we've been stretched to the limit in the past 5/6 weeks. We have 2 weeks off for Christmas now so we should get most back that have been injured by then thankfully but i've just signed this lad to come in to help us get through and more than likely be a regular starter

laifis.thumb.JPG.392623d1adfb6d41975a6e4e381bb0ff.JPG

He has actually been on my radar since October but league rules mean even if there is a space he couldn't be registered so to keep us from paying him/having him unhappy about not playing I left it until as long as possible and would have left it another 2 weeks if it wasn't for Ermis putting an offer in to force my hand and putting the bid in.

I'll be happy with our current position if we can hang on until the league split, I have no idea how this works yet so I can't give an explanation as it doesn't say in the league rules :D

Another signing and probably the best player at the club, I tried to sign him in the summer but couldn't agree a deal with his agent and he withdrew, I forgot all about him after that in all honesty but he still didn't have a club which is surprising (either that or his agent has been hard work with everyone) so I went back in for him and this time there was no problem thankfully.

Patience pays off. Much better form after a poor start and some good signings to compliment what you have.

Would be an amazing story if THOI can progress up the leagues. I'm waiting for some clubs in my save to be taken over but not seen any yet.

Thanks, I always thought we needed a win or 2 on the trot to get us going a little as we weren't playing badly in the opening games and though Pittaras has done a lot for the club I decided we weren't getting anywhere with him upfront which is a shame but something that needed to be done after to failing to score in his first 4 games for the teams sake and I think that is the biggest key to it as we're looking more likely to score now with Pangaiotou leading the line.

I've seen they've loaned a few from APOEL already and are unbeaten in the 3 games since the takeover so if they stay in the division I see them hammering their way up the leagues with the money they have.

Do you have subscriptions for all the divisions? What I do is go through all the loaded divisions in the game manually > click overview > Add subscription > repeat through each division and once done I go to my subscriptions > leagues > select all and then I untick everything I don't want to know and just keep facilities updates and board takeovers like below

subscriptions.thumb.JPG.fea73a1962703a4cda51712b87f0b5da.JPG

Obviously if you want more/less info then do as it suits you, personally these are the only 2 things throughout all the sections in my subscription list I have ticked as it saves reading through the junk I don't care about and usually I won't miss any takeovers or ground moves :)

I tried but it doesn't show another stage in the table, i'm thinking it may just be one of those where the sides 6th after 22 games can't get any lower and obviously 7th and below  any higher than 7th. I only have 4 league games left before the split so will be able to say for sure but I can confirm that each of the previous 3 seasons the team in 7th has finished with more points than the 6th and in one case the team in 6th would have finished 10th without the split

Could have changed then but it had been the way I described for a while and though it was a pain to go through each league to set up it was always the easiest way to find out any takeovers

We're not quite free of relegation yet but we're in a good position not to be dragged in to it now. The reason being is the league split rules are a lot clearer now we're at that stage. The bottom 6 sides will play each other twice, as I mentioned the highest a side below 6th is 7th place if you are in the bottom half of the split and generally we've had a decent record against the bottom half sides, while until mathematically impossible to get relegated I won't be too complacent but with a 7 point advantage and our record against sides in the bottom half i'd be disappointed if we finished lower than 9th now, especially as we'll be 10 points clear of 11th spot provided we win the next game (home to Omonia).

Happy we are in the cup semi after overcoming a deficit in the first leg where we have a tie against Paralimni, it would be nice to finish with a cup final but I would say they are slight favourites to win the tie so it'll be important to keep in it before the home leg.
