You may remember me saying Inter went down the season before last, well they did bounce straight back up but unlike Fiorentina who did exactly the same Inter are really struggling with the return with them being seriously asset stripped over the past 2 years and seemingly having not invested that wisely with any money they got back. The defence is the hardest hit by the look of things but this is a seriously aging side on top of the fact it is a thin squad. Samir Handanovic is 36 but thankfully looks like he has another season in him so at least I don't have to rush there, Hernanes is a year younger but the decline is very evident there and even our better forwards are coming up to the 30 mark but at least short term they will be fine, Jordy Clasie at 29 is probably the best outfield player and again short term I don't have to worry about him.

Young Federico Bergonzini is someone I had my eye on at Ipswich a few seasons back but even though my spending was a lot higher than I usually would do the £40m+ they kept asking was not worth a risk on a teenager in the very early stage of his development especially when his pace is so low but now I have the chance to work with him here and hopefully he'll turn in to a decent defender, he's going to have to be chucked in at the deep end a few times too if I can't get anyone in during this window so I should have the chance to see how he copes at first hand now and see if that £40M would have been a bargain for Ipswich

berg.thumb.JPG.e23e941d2bea8720410b94b944d01a0c.JPG

The table isn't too worrying thankfully and i'm confident that we can get the mid table spot I promised the board, I've got £14M to spend after cashing in on various clauses so hopefully I can pull a bargain or 2 from the transfer list, if not then i'll just have to work with what I have and review it in the summer.

table.thumb.JPG.3a2fde42dce662850e1463f78251fbd4.JPG

Though i'm happy to get such a good job so soon I do kind of wish it was one of the recently relegated sides I got to work with as it'd have given me a bit of space to build a young side with less pressure instead of this case where the squad is so poor it has to be a case of mix and match to keep us stable for the short term at least.

Only the 2 came in and whilst neither are world beaters they were cheap and still big upgrades on what we had so just under £6M to help strengthen our spine is a bargain in my book, Serie A is pretty strong with even Cagliari being in the CL spots the last 2 years, Juve are still the main threat but they haven't had it their own way all the time so potentially this could be tougher than England to crack especially as the money is nowhere near the same at present, even our attendances are around the 36k mark  so that needs improvement to bring cash in.

On the pitch now..

It's been a bit hit and miss so far,  we're either brilliant or awful but then again i've changed from 5-3-2 to 3-3-4 of sorts so the players aren't used to it and especially as we're still 3/4 short of anywhere near Europa challengers with a starting XI let alone a squad capable I have to just accept it for now but there's 4 free's coming in next year that are 3/4's youngsters that I would have took to Ipswich if it wasn't for the fact I knew I was leaving and basically i'll throw them straight in next year, my scout has also come across a few in South America that given they're in their early 20's is a shock that I haven't noticed before because i'd have certainly to them to East Anglia if i'd have know. That depends on money though but I do know there's one i'll be all out for.

tactic.thumb.JPG.3d4589d4832febbbf3d6aeb3073bc2fd.JPG

apart from being 6-0 down after 20 mins at Juventus where I had to change before it got even more stupid this is how I mostly line up, it's probably no coincidence this works better at the narrow San Siro pitch but LB is a big problem for us and even trying 4 at the back failed at Sassuolo so apart from big teams away where i'll probably try my "Liverpool" tactic for the short term i'm going to stick for now.

I forgot to mention 2 players out on loan in my last post but these look really good for the future

I don't think either would have made a difference for this year but looking at them they seem to be capable of a squad role next year even if off the bench when things are going well

A return of 33 points from 21 games isn't bad for a side that was 17th when I took over, admittedly I think we played enough to get another 6 at least but when you seem to be having a man sent off or suspended every other game it does make life harder :D I'll have to keep Clasie this year as obviously he's one of our better players at the moment but the lad is a liability with cards :D I'll also be less harsh as our back 3 or 4 is clearly not good enough either, I do want to play 3 at the back ideally but think funds might mean the best idea is to bring in a LB even for a year and play mostly with 4 because with 3 at the back i'd need 1 more first choice and a back up and i've already spent £30M of the £50M we have on a keeper and midfielder.

I was hoping to keep Handanovic for another year as number 1 but his agility is down to 11 now and in all honesty it looked to me like he was partly to blame for some of those we let in but he's a more than capable number 2 and i'll still try and give him a few games to keep him happy. Apart from the definite decision on formation mt shopping is done already but want to do that in a separate post  and it'll be a relatively younger side next year with lots of Bosmans coming in but at the same time improving us even though there's a few teenagers in there.

I'm probably going to be at Inter a lot shorter than Ipswich if i'm honest as I leave for Asia in real life for a few months at the end of November so the plan is to get another club in after Inter so it could be I leave as soon as/if i've won the league depending how much time that takes (though I should have plenty of playing time as I have to save money :D ) I don't think we'll be title contenders this year but i'm aiming for Europa spot and a good cup run, the goals are obviously there and with the improvements to the squad we should be even more dangerous this year.

Definitely time to move on :)

I'd have done it a year earlier if it wasn't for the ground move tbh, but I really wanted to oversee that with the intention of an expansion to help Ipswich financially if it was selling out. They finished 2nd and CL semi finalists without me (Chelsea won the league by a point) and didn't lose the key players but the face toucher used a 3 at the back which considering how good both the 1st and 2nd choice FB's are it was criminal really  I might actually look if I can mick Zapata or Mings from there for a year now I think of it :D

I did look at the market as I do like the thought of 3 at the back but even good CB's for cheap are above what we can afford in wages whereas the LB we got in was cheap and reasonable wages so it was a no brainer tbh, i'm sure i'll use the back 3 at some point during this year but next season is probably when I can give it a proper shot in all likeliness

These are the the players who will come in to the first team squad and I am delighted with what we have for that price and every single one bar Benitez (even though he's going to be 1st choice as Handanovic is declining really quickly now) is an upgrade on what we have so we've done really well.  I stuck with the decision to go mostly 4 at the back for this year at least though looking at it now we still have £20M to play with and if I sold Gino Peruzzi at RB I may have been able to squeeze the 2 CB's in but thinking about it having that cash is handy in case someone top class becomes available in the winter so i've probably done the right thing for now at least.

The other 2 signings are for the youth team but one was made by the HOYD so I won't include that as I forgot to stop him making bids for players

baras.thumb.JPG.54833136f65a35666f3f6b54aa33ade3.JPG

This lad was picked up by a scout though and looks really promising.

I'm hoping for a Europa spot with this lot and tbh we should be able to manage it as the squad is so much better now than 8 months ago but this is a pretty tough division as being showed with Juve not having their own way each year.

No big shocks last year really apart from Trabzonspor going down and Grasshoppers not coming back up, Arsenal survived by a point was the closest to anything major though.

Performance wise i've been happy enough with the start to the season but a habit of conceding late goals has cost us in 3 games we should have won easily, I know we are top but it should be by a clearer margin really though I do kind of accept responsibility because in certain positions (full back and Wesley mostly) i've not had a chance to rest them or sub them after 60/70 mins. I was hoping the Chalobah signing late in the window (£2.8M) would help with that but he went and picked up a 5 month injury of which he has 3 months before even fit.

Again we've had our fair share of stupid results but that isn't something I can blame all on bad performances, we've had an injury and suspension list rack up week by week where i've been forced to play kids or players that shouldn't be anywhere near the club (I did try selling to get funds but nobody was interested due to wages). It's seen us slide to 5th but we are getting players back now and with only a 4 point gap to 3rd hopefully we can have a clear run of these problems and make the CL, if not I don't see it as the end of the world as top half was the board requirement and in all honesty I need a lot more strength at CB, DM and AMC whilst replacing older players like Ferreyra and Classie (He will go in the summer because even though he isn't over the hill his suspensions haven't helped us)

I added a young full back from Nice for £6m which short term at least means we have both sides stocked now so a few more bargains like that in the summer and I feel we'll be in a much better position next season

That certainly came as a surprise to me. Even though we were unbeaten after losing at Juve in January we were 9 points behind at the end of that month and seemingly they were going to romp away with it. We didn't make it to the top until until the penultimate game of the season but that was due to us playing while they had a Europa semi against Roma and their game in hand was at lowly Pisa but to my surprise Pisa did us a favour to keep us a point clear on the final day which still left it out of our hands, thankfully we did our job and Juve only drew 0-0 at Sampdoria which gave us an unexpected title.

In a lot of ways for our attacking we deserved to win the league, i've just checked and that's the highest goals for tally in the save so far (by 1) but our defending wasn't always the greatest and i'll have to look at that over the summer.

Going forward in the save and there is only Bremen in with a chance of going down so not really many jobs I can for that fits in with the save as Aberdeen, Porto, Dortmund, Valencia and Dynamo Kyiv have all claimed a cup competition within the 5 years that would have been viable options, so I will stay for a season longer but i'm going to check out some leagues I haven't got loaded including South America and see if it's worth adding any as Switzerland, Turkey and Greece seem to be a waste of time having loaded atm even though I wouldn't mind a go at either of those but looking at Brazil there's at least 4 sides who could be considered a big club to take over if the chance came but I might save that until i've spent more time in Europe so I can concentrated on that side of the world for a prolonged period.

We had 2 potentially class kids in the intake this year which i'm happy with as the squad only really has 2 Italians and both of those are youth players not quite ready for regular starts yet but as I said earlier the only way I was going to spend a lot of time at Inter is if I failed to win the league, a rule that applies to Spain, Germany and possibly France too if I get there as I do tire of big leagues easily once the money starts rolling in. I'd rather spend time at a larger mid-low ranked nation and build as that requires real building.

Nowhere near as busy a window I would have liked but Jose Bravo on a free and Luis for just short short of £10M are fantastic signings for us, it was a shame I had to let Ferreya go but a possible £19M (with clauses) for a 31 year old was too much to turn down. To try and bulk the squad up a little I have promoted Barasic and Musetti from the u20's and if we get really desperate Buccellato from last seasons intake is making good progress so he's in contention.

The aim is to do as well as possible, i'd be happy with any of the 3 trophies we are competing for but as long as we are top 3 i'd be happy. Luis is a big improvement to our defence and Benitez is the starting keeper all season this time around, I rotated a little last year but Handanovic is well past his best now so I can't have room for sentimentality no matter how well he's done for the club.

I've added Denmark, Norway and Sweden to the game in an attempt to speed my departure from Italy as i'll leave in May at the very latest.

Fantastic run to end the season

Thanks lads, even with that run I didn't expect Juve to blow it at Pisa and Sampdoria as both have been poor but a 17 game unbeaten run is certainly title form so I can't discredit our efforts too much.

I've been happy with the start so far, again we've had injuries and suspensions plus rotating to give the kids some much needed game time and rest for the senior players so i'm not really surprised that our goalscoring is a little lower than last season but if it means helping the club ready for what no doubt will be an exodus when I leave at the end of the year then it is something that I will have to accept. The kids have all done well when called upon so there are signs that I am doing the right thing.

I've added Norway, Sweden and Denmark for this year as there's a few teams there that would qualify for the criteria (Rosenborg, Gothenborg, Brondy, AB, B93 to name a few) plus I fancy a crack in a smaller nation and having spent so much time in Eastern Europe on previous saves I don't really want to get in to all that unless an offer too good to turn down happens as it'll be samey for myself and anyone reading, especially as I intend to buy FM18 at some point and do a new Iron Curtain save anyway :D

Our form has continued even with the rotation so i'm obviously delighted but I did expect the other sides to put up more of a fight, Juve have been shocking and we easily beat them even with a few missing, Roma have been terrible in January after looking like they'd be our challengers so at least we can afford to rest a few once the CL kicks back in (we play Dortmund which is a tricky tie)

In the Italian cup we play AC which is another tricky tie and one i'll take seriously as i'm yet to win the main domestic cup in the save so even though i'd pick the league every time I want to try and get a big one before I leave :D

Thanks, it's made the 2nd half of the season a bit easier for us . I could even afford a stupid defeat at Verona after being 2-0 up (my own fault as I played the kids and should have tightened up instead of trusting them to see it out)

We had a shocking 70 mins or so in the 1st leg against Dortmund (look at Wambach's rating :D ) so once we went 3-1 down I could have subbed half the team but decided on just ending Wambach's misery and made 2 changes at AMC more in the hope of stopping Dortmund down our left and maybe pulling one back but the players surprised me and did this :D

I'm a bit torn on how I feel on the last few months, we achieved our goal but it wasn't as convincing as i'd have liked. We had a spell of losing 4 in 6 and granted there was a few injuries but Bayern, Palermo and AC all annoyed me :D That said, with the extra games and the absentees being a lot more than last year it's probably me being too much of a perfectionist. You can tell by the star players each period who really stepped up and Riviere is one who is just getting better, I seriously doubt he'll be at the club too much longer but he did accept a contact for the next 4 seasons which means at least he (and a few others I renewed) won't be going cheaply and as you can see the club is under no pressure to sell.

I did get a lot of stick from media and other managers for not buying Italian players but I gave 6 kids from our academy regular starts which didn't get mentioned :D I also offered a few contracts out as this years intake was decent

I've made no secret of the fact that I was resigning after this season, 3 CL's with Ipswich meant that winning that with Inter wasn't really a goal my aim was to help them get back to the top after their relegation and 2 titles and a cup in 2 and half years is exactly what I done so i'm satisfied with my work there but as soon as the whistle went after the cup final I hit the resign button as 2 jobs really interest me

quit.thumb.JPG.3303671ea1fe350900b475088f2aa02e.JPG

I'd missed out being able to talk to Panathinaikos, Austria Vienna, Porto (technically they had won a Portugues cup but I was going to bend the rules as they've not won the title at all during the save and i've not been in Portugal since FM10) due to not being able to afford the compensation so i've got out now ready for the merry go round and hopefully find a club soon as i've got a handy shortlist saved (I do expect some won't be interested at the new club though :D )

Ipswich since i've left have won 2 out of 3 titles, a CL and the League Cup so i'm hoping the groundwork i've done at Inter will result in similar success as I have enjoyed it there but as I said the CL didn't interest me enough to stay even with the talent in the squad

It barely took a week from leaving Inter to get this job, it was always this or Fenerbache (I would love a crack at Turkey eventually as I can't recall ever spending time there) but the huge fall from grace and slightly worse facilities and finances appealed more than the trip to Turkey at this moment as I wanted to build something just like at Ipswich (though there's a kid at Fenerbache that looks immense that I tried to get for Inter as my final signing that looked like he could be better than Wesley ) i'm not sure on a timeline with this because obviously there's no chance of winning the CL in 5 years with this side. I'll try and keep it under 5 years but we'll see as the intention is to stay and get a win in lesser country at some point but for now i'll focus on the league and see where we are in 18 months.

Straight away i'm tempted to sell both full backs, they're our best players but there's no back up I fancy after that and looking at the squad it's pretty thin past each starting position and tbh I feel we need at least 1 CM, a CB and a CF to improve the XI and i'm not overly keen on the keeper but for now he should do for a season or 2.

I got the board to agree to a youth coaching upgrade with no fuss so that's a good start

We're in the Europa League so it would be nice to do 3 preliminary rounds but knowing my luck the draws in these are never kind in the first few years at this level :D But i'll have a go and also at the cup as we're too far behind for Europe via the league. We can't afford anyone on the shortlist I had so that idea is out of the window but the window opens in a month so it gives me time to get the scouts looking in South America and Africa for a few gems and our link with Juve may be handy for a loan or 2.

Too bad that the CL didn't quite work out for you at Inter but otherwise a great job man. Interesting move as well.  Good luck!

Our defending against Bayern in both legs was shocking really (it's not been great in my time there tbh :D ) but the CL was never a realistic target as a lot of  the team was too young and we lacked a DM and CB ready to fill in for Hoedt and Classie and the 2 non EU limit per year hindered me replacing them with ready made players.

Quite happy about the move, I see a high turnover on players in and out in the first 2/3 seasons because the money isn't there for players of too much higher than the rest of the division so i'll be looking to get cheap and any decent offer let them go and keep on until the budget allows better wages, i've missed out on a few that would dramatically improve us already due to £5.5k being the best we can offer. I've sold some clauses that has increased the budget by about £700k and could make another £1M for Hou Saeter (sp) but he's worth £7M so reluctant to do it in case it bites me on the backside later :D That said i'm desperate for a striker after finally getting a few in so I might have to just cut my losses and take it:D

Rosenborg BK June - August 2023

It's going to be a bit of a long post i'm afraid, so i'll start with the transfers

transfers.thumb.JPG.e569413d6ed62754595054cddb5cfed9.JPG

bjerke.thumb.JPG.67fcbf8b062355fd4958c19c08bb1ce6.JPGcarrasco.thumb.JPG.a57b4eeea041002b5bfcc684f9b512cd.JPGeduardo.thumb.JPG.43a4d98d300379a039b3ff24c714ff83.JPGestrada.thumb.JPG.b556442e156610811e28b046d70ba881.JPGneiva.thumb.JPG.a2c5b781b16084871816828bd49b3848.JPGolsen.thumb.JPG.1bacdfcab2a99e3cc91ecf566370d9fc.JPGvasko.thumb.JPG.a57fd63c2a86897d223b072d99e6da30.JPGzahovic.thumb.JPG.3f61591ea5a76af66335d1fc83e0e078.JPG

As I got more in to it a few became unbalanced, Vasko and Zahovic wouldn't have came in if I knew Carrasco would have got offered to me later for certain :D but at the time they were improvements or at lest Vasko is, Zahovic has been a waste of space and even after my tactic change is only in because of injury :D I did bring in more than I intended to but after an initial good start I started to see problems at CB and GK and too many foreign slots were just wasted so after losing to HJK 4-1 in the 2nd leg of a Europa tie it made me take action sooner rather than later and get rid of what I could rather than go for a slower fix. Olsen is one for the future but he was highly recommended and needing some young talent for further down the line I felt £60k wasn't a big risk. Bjerke I probably over paid for but the scout said he was on a par with Radza and by selling the Dane it created a spare foreign slot rather than wasting it on a keeper that wasn't in my long term plans anyway. Eduardo hasn't really found his feet yet but technically he's our best MC so i've been patient with him. The 2 South American center halves are miles better than what we had and after a trail for Estrada and a bargain price for Nelva they should in time adapt and be good players for us.

The original tactic was 4-1-2-2-1 (or 4-3-3 wingers to some) but for the last 2 games i've slightly reworked the 3 at the back formation I intended to use at Inter and i'll keep at it for the rest of the season now as Europe is probably beyond us so I can experiment and see how it goes

As you can see apart from the HJK game it wasn't a terrible start but things didn't feel right in terms of how we playing which is when the transfers in and out got a bit busy :D Europe isn't of reach but I don't see us making 3rd (4th depending on cup winner) so i'm happy enough to see how we go and tweak stuff when needed ready for next year.

Dull is certainly something we can't be accused of being :D I put part of it down to the 3rd 3CB not being good enough but we also lack a DM, in this window i'll be looking at changing that and then make the decision on whether to drop the 2nd striker or AMC, it could also be that I just move a CM back and see how that goes. If I can get these positions fixed then i'm over stocked on wingers so the next move will be to shift 1 or 2 of those and try and bring in a superior striker. Even with the squad as it is i'd have probably won the league if I had joined 5 games earlier so I don't see the need to go too stupid on players this window so any other deals will be if somebody needs replacing.

5 players were brought in but 3 of them are more for the future/squad players as I didn't want to go too crazy, I'm also keeping in mind that I have a disadvantage in some ways due to the league season starting before mainland Europe so i'm half expecting a few offers for my better players when their end of season budgets come in so it didn't make sense to spend a lot now when there's every chance i'll need to in the next few months.

The youth intake was pretty poor but there's one who looks like he could make it

Hopefully this will help along with managing to attract a better HOYD now. I didn't do much with my staff when I joined apart from bring in 8 scouts but now the whole club is sorted out with the best possible staff from the first team down to reserves and under 19's (apart from my assistant who the club refuse to let me sack due to the compensation :D )

Reasonably happy with the start though adding the DM hasn't really done much good so far :D In fairness I did tell myself in preseason to play 20 games before I judge properly (unless it was going horribly wrong obviously :D ) I would have liked a bit of a lead before Europe starts but in reality I can't make many changes anyway before big games as the squad isn't strong enough.

Cheers, I do like messing about with less conventional tactics in the smaller leagues as it keeps it interesting for everyone not just me I feel, usually i'll try and replicate a tactic that nation (or a side from a nation) is famous for if unusual but nothing comes to mind with Norway (apart from 4-5-1 :D ) so i've basically tweaked the ideas I had for Inter but if I get to South America i'll try and replicate Biesla and a few others which should be interesting :D

I feel i've done well in this window keeping who I wanted to keep and improve the squad dramatically with Ponce and Knudsen. Coelho is one for the future and has been given the rest of the season in the reserves so he gets real games to fast track his development. There's another talent coming in 18 months from Turkey for a modest £350k but he looks like he could be a really good player

Considering at this stage last year I didn't even expect to be in the Europa League we've done magnificently to make the group and also keep the lead at the top of the table, the squad behind the starting XI isn't the best yet and will take a while to improve as we don't have the money or rep to get the better Norwegians back to the country  but if we can poach the likes Knudsen from other sides and develop youngsters like i've been doing so far then we should get there eventually. What I am struggling with a little is the reserves are only just above the relegation slots even though i've put a few squad players in there after the cup exit and it's vital for my plan that they stay in the league as i'm pretty sure reserve sides never come back once relegated :(

5a57b8f30c2eb_div2.thumb.JPG.7032ec37f481be2b7143713ac9059c0f.JPG

It may even be that i'll have to do transfers for the reserves with a few better players to fill a few positions where there's no youth players good enough to start in the short term but I'd rather not go down the road of stockpiling players that won't make the first team in the future as I really do want the reserves to be in there with the intention of promoting.

In the Europa we were seeded 4th and I was expecting the worst, we did get Man Utd but I don't think this was the worst group we could have had. I certainly wouldn't have wanted groups A,D,E,F,G and I :D

Very happy with the way the season has gone. We've managed to juggle the league and Europe and still comfortably do what was needed in both. The one concern still still is the defence but with 3 at the back I expect it to be slightly worse anyway.

My main problem at the minute is the usual players wanting to leave situation. Obviously you have to expect it and for now i've managed to hang on and keep them, it's not even letting them go that's the problem as such it's finding replacements anywhere near as close as to what i'd have to let go :D I can attract a few but we can't afford the wages and we'd be spending almost the same as clubs are bidding for the outgoings so it doesn't make sense financially for me to let anyone go unless a silly offer came in.

I've been moving along and trying to get to the start of February as I type (my concentration on reports goes quite easily when writing them :D ) but that's taken forever due to scouting and rejecting bids every time the inbox comes up, it's taken nearly 2 hours to get through 2 weeks so i've gone on holiday with reject all offers until the end of the month just so I don't have to deal with it and hope the chairman doesn't sell behind my back :D  We've all been in this situation when managing in lower leagues but this time seems to be annoying me more than usual :D

We play Barca in the knockout round of the Europa so it's safe to say we'll be out of that soon :D I honestly just want to try and keep who I can at the club and get back to playing games at this moment because I know if I can ride it out until the summer then things will improve.

First off there's no transfers to show because I didn't make any or let anybody go :D I don't like the idea of keeping the same squad for 2 seasons in a row but there was no money without selling and in all honesty I couldn't even find any kids good enough to even be squad players for a year that were affordable so I found it stupid to even consider selling if it wasn't going to benefit the squad either now or in the long term. I missed out on a few Norwegians playing abroad coming in on Bosman's for July too as their clubs both activated a year extra clause in their contracts :( both would have been very good players to add to the squad but it wasn't to be.

On the pitch and our efforts against Barca were better than expected and i'm happy we gave them a game in both legs (we missed a penalty in Spain to force extra time) and apart from 2 stupid games we've started the domestic year very well with a very stretched squad so despite the tough pre season I am extremely happy with the players efforts so far.

I've had some superb offers, Barca, Real, Lyon, Spurs and Juventus to name a few but even if they qualified for my criteria (Spurs did to be fair) i've already been to England and Italy and the 2 La Liga sides would have to be close to a relegation scrap after a few wilderness years for me to even consider them, if I was to go to Spain i'd be looking at Bilbao (may be coming back to La Liga this year) Valencia or Atletico that kind of level.  There is actually 3 clubs i'm interested in though, you probably wouldn't recognise 2 as a big club but they are high in the all time title wins list in their respective countries and the other is their countries most successful side and have just been relegated and even though it's going to be much the same as the problems i'm having in Norway in terms of attracting players there's something telling me that if that job does come available then I have to take it :D

Again only one decent prospect in the youth intake and it's another defender. If he turns out to be decent then i'd be happy as I always try and use foreign spots on attacking players (this is why i've not upgraded the keeper yet :D )

bjornslett.thumb.JPG.7d4118c8f987c980e9d8472a99aefde9.JPG

His pace is the main worry so i've put him on heavy full back training to try and help with that but his other attributes seem like he could be half decent.

Cheers, we took the lead 3 times in total against Barca (2 of those at their place) and we gave them a better game than against United, we're nowhere near even a low La Liga/Prem side bar a few players so I was really pleased with how we performed :)

Hoping the 2 defenders do turn useful for us because unless this 2nd division job comes up (not going to mention the name ;) ) i'm going to try and fight it out for the 5 seasons. Looking back I should have left the youth training facilities last year and used the million in transfer funds. Definitely can't have another window without fresh faces (I do have one i'll show in the next update but that's it for the year) as we're seriously low on players now and they have to be homegrown which leaves me with no real options apart from a few kids in the reserves.

Strong few months even though the squad is really stretched now. Thankfully we've been able to extend the lead at the top so hopefully we will be able to see it out as obviously the CL is going to be a big strain on the squad.

In the CL we had 2 simple rounds but RBS are a totally different side and once we went 4-1 down in Austria I was expecting the worst but a few late goals gave us a great chance and we finished the job in the 2nd leg.

5a5b3e70dd5b3_clgroup.JPG.4414bb328e3aab54a5b1708d80bcef55.JPG

This wasn't the best draw we could have had but then again there was probably only one group that looked a lot easier than the others :D i'd be happy getting 2/3 points purely for financial gain but if i'm honest we'll be lucky to get one :D

One transfer in for free is a CB, we've been really struggling with just 4 since i've gone to 3 at the back so to give that extra cover is a big boost for us, in fact he isn't far off being the best CB at the club so hopefully he'll develop a little more and become a first choice starter.

What a surprising season this has been!! Without Andsnes to support Ponce for 4 months I really thought we'd struggle to juggle Europe too with the weakness in our squad so to easily win the title and make it out of the group is superb. We rode our luck at home to Arsenal but in any other game we picked up points it's hard to argue that we didn't deserve the wins. If Bayern had got a point in the last game against Arsenal we wouldn't have gone through so again some luck came in to it but even so i'd have snapped your hand off for 3rd when the groups were drawn so i'm delighted.

The money has done a lot too as it means I can improve the training facilities which is something that isn't really good enough at this moment in time.

It's a lot of money and you may think I should have kept it for transfers but with the league sewed up early I already got the main targets in anyway when the budget was given so i'm not too concerned as there's no Norwegians available to improve us so all my dealings are the foreign quota and mixing and matching there for the time being until we can start bringing homegrown of our own in which is actually part of of my thinking in improving the facilities.

We play Liverpool in the next round.
