Dexter_Morgan
FK Austria Wien July - December 2031/32 A good start to the season considering the big injuries we've had but we've had enough to cover them without too much problems though i've had to change tactics a few times to accommodate people. In some ways I will miss this club when I leave at the end of the season as i've really enjoyed it but I want to get out of Europe for a while and I may even go against the idea of the thread for the next part and take a club I feel is a challenge to build up, possibly a mid table side that are regulars in a division but never really challenge for anything, if I do go against the thread premise though it will only be for one club and only if a suitable vacancy hasn't turned up after 2/3 months holiday. I already considered the Chivas job in Mexico but tbh I want South America more than Mexico and Peru is really appealing to me at the moment, though I also have my eye on the Independiente job as the manager also seems to be insecure and then getting of trouble for a few games before being back under pressure There'll be no winter signings for me as I am going to leave a good kitty for the next manager as he's going to need it when bids for the best players come in but I did sign this lad for next year as for a potential £1M it seemed a bargain

Dexter_Morgan
I really didn't expect to do this with this side, I always felt we were probably a year or 2 away from it as I knew we were short on a top class keeper at least and a few players needed a bit longer playing in the 1st team to get to their full potential so I am delighted to have done it and especially managing to do it with a classic Austrian formation is pleasing. Dexter_Morgan
FK Austria Wien January - June 2031/32 I've done the CL so not much else to say about that, we won the league and Cup to complete the treble, it may look like a slight hangover after beating Munich but the truth is we had lots of players away on international duty and Nowark was forced to play in net as all 3 keepers were away with their national sides so in all honesty I think we did well to get a couple of wins in those last 4 games as there no players left on the bench after the 2nd of those Very close to the nation getting a 3rd CL spot but in all honesty i'm sure Austria will probably see the same as Norway with a gradual decline once I leave. Crap name but at least it helps the club move forward. Best of this years intake. Around Europe AC Milan, Liverpool and Grasshoppers are the biggest sides to go down, with my stint at Inter and Ipswich I have no intentions of going to either nation at this stage but Milan would have been fun I think. Grasshoppers is interesting but i'm determined my next side will be in South America but a job like that in a few years would be ideal. It was tempting to try and defend the CL but in all honesty i've won it a few times and i've been at the club for 5 and half seasons so I think this is a good way to leave the club. New stadium on the way, a good young side and financially secure so I had nothing left to achieve really, I may go for a longer spell at a side on my return to Europe but for now I just want to get over to South America and find a club that fits. 1 hour ago, deltablue said: Nice one. Dexter_Morgan
Sport Boys Association This is exactly the sort of challenge I wanted in all honesty, it's a division where I feel I can try to play really risky formations and have a lot of fun with. The club are the 4th most successful in Peru so whilst a lot of people may never have heard of them it's still a fairly big sized club with potential. The league is reasonably short unlike Brazil or Argentina so I can hopefully go through seasons pretty quickly. Financially this is going to take some getting used to and i'll have to accept i'm going to lose players along the way just to improve long term. I will see how it goes but unless something too good to turn down elsewhere turns up this will probably be my only South American club during this stint on the continent. This is the formation I intend to play but keeping the same settings as I used in Austria and hope the gung-ho style works We are in the Copa Sudamericana thanks to last years 5th place so at least we do have something to aim for to make up for this season. Dexter_Morgan
Usually I wouldn't do a separate post for a youth intake but i've only played a few games so far which isn't worth a report and this seems potentially a good intake, though not sure how accurate as my HOYD is 13 for JPP (he is 17 for PA) so i've signed everything that is potentially 4 stars Even 1 a year i'm usually happy with coming through but if we can get 3 or 4 i'd be delighted as funds are short and the squad isn't the best so we any help we can get is ideal. Dexter_Morgan
Sport Boys Association August - November 2032 A bit mixed but in all honesty I didn't expect much else, it also doesn't help when 2 of your best players are inexplicably were let out on loan by the previous manager Over the pre season I know 3 transfers are secured on Bosmans which will help our starting XI along with the 2 coming back, plus i'll be promoting 2/3 of the kids so hopefully there'll be some improvement, a CB or 2 is a big concern (i'll be playing 2 CB's and 2 DM's rather than 1 CB and 3 DM's next year) i've got a few full backs that I am hoping to move on to boost funds a little too so I do hope to have at least 3 more new faces on top of those i've mentioned as 44 games is a long year. I didn't realise about the extra 14 games league split earlier so the squad does need a lot bringing in to compete
Dexter_Morgan
Sport Boys Association January - February 2033 Happy with the 6 signings, we play twice a week almost every week so it's good to get such a big improvement to the squad as it was hard enough winning games with the best XI last season but once injuries and suspensions and tiredness kicked in we had no chance. Daniel Diaz coming back from loan is like a new signing, god knows what the previous manager was thinking letting him go when he's clearly the best at the club The 4 all get an immediate promotion from the youth side, they would have made it last year to at least make up numbers but the registration window was closed. I expected the improvement but this is a lot better than I could have wished for, the balance of the team is a lot better and just dropping 1 of the DM's back has stopped us being so isolated, I still want to go back to the original formation but for the time being 2CB's and 2 DM's only is still quite risky but it's at least meaning we can play the way I want with a bit of cover. Dexter_Morgan
Sport Boys Association March - May 2033 I think the scorelines do much of the talking This is pretty much like the first season in Austria but only with a few more goals The new signings and kids have came in and done well which is pleasing and hopefully the rest that haven't made it yet will be ready next year. There's 6 games left and if we can win 2 that should guarantee Copa Libertadores for us next year which is obviously going to be huge to us going forward as the training facilities are in desperate need of upgrading and selling players at least in the short term won't fund that. Dexter_Morgan
Sport Boys Association End of First Stage We at least didn't go in to a freefall but after losing 6 games and having to replay them the damage was done To boost the squad I have promoted Ortiz and Hurtado from the youth team, both played in the last 3 games of the opening stage and made a good impression Also Bruno comes in after we agreed a deal a few months back to bring him in a Bosman so I feel the squad is a lot better than this time last year now, obviously a decent youth intake has helped enormously and with 2 upgrades to it and youth recruitment one since i've joined hopefully this will carry on as even though it isn't expensive to buy players from this division we only have £500k in the bank so have to be careful on spending unless someone goes out. Dexter_Morgan
Sport Boys Association Second Stage 2033 Overall Table That must be one of the maddest seasons i've had in all my FM years 186 scored, 99 conceded makes Kevin Keegan's Newcastle look like they parked the bus That said I am playing 2 at the back so obviously the GA column was always going to be a bit higher than normal and TBH my thinking of moving to Peru was to have a few seasons of silly football and i'm going to stick with it domestically at least, the Copa Libertadores I may use the Austria Wien 3 at the back. You'll see at the bottom of the fixtures that we played Cristal 3 times, this is because the winners or each stage play each other to decide the title. I expected at the final whistle of the 2nd game to see us crowned as Champions on away goals but no, there's a replay if the scores are level So this is my first full season since Ipswich where I haven't got a title to my name At least it makes a change from clearing up all the time TBH I thought top 4 would be good considering the amount of kids promoted to the team so 2nd is a good start and hopefully we can improve again next year. We had another decent intake, again they might not be great players but potentially class for this division and it'll be nice to have a mostly homegrown side. Dexter_Morgan
Sport Boys Association January - April 2034 We've suffered a lot of injuries so far this season which has meant i've had to use the Rosenborg 3 at the back rather than my 2 at the back formation, it has made us more solid but as soon as I can get back to that formation I will In hindsight i'd have signed a player or 2 in the window but I opted to promote kids and let 2 older players go for decent money. Tbh if the kids are there i'd rather promote them even if they aren't quite ready as it fast tracks them a little and means I can save money for much needed facility upgrades. The Copa Libertadores run shows we are at least decent in terms of continental level, I wouldn't expect us to beating the Brazilians or Argentinians regularly yet but beating the other nations is a good aim short term and trying to be competitive in big games and see where that takes us. Dexter_Morgan
Sport Boys Association May - July 2034 We've been in superb firm so far domestically and in Continental competition we've had a very lucky run in as everyone we've played has been 8th or lower in their domestic league though in our last CL game it looked like we were going out of the competition as we were 5-1 down at one stage so to get another 3 away goals to give us an excellent chance of making the final (Sao Paulo or Corinthians are in the other semi with Sao Paulo 3-0 up). My main concern is the league though, after losing it due to forgetting to save last year I really want to make amends for that

I had to turn it down as I checked their history and they won the league 4 seasons ago so just missed out on eligibility by a year so it ended up an easy choice if they'd or a club that big had been relegated though it'd be the opposite (in Brazil i'm not counting state championships as major titles if I do go for a move though)
Dexter_Morgan
Something wrong in my history as I never won any continental comp with Rosenborg Anyone else ever seen a bug like that? Anyway, on to the game... Not the worst result in the world, it makes a change for us to have less shots than the opposition but I felt we did well against the current holders and a side obviously a lot better than us. What really isn't helping is we have a big injury list and can't even fill the bench atm It's so bad that to keep certain players fresh i'm not making any substitutes so at least the lot on the bench are 100% for the game they are covering next
Dexter_Morgan
This is as big as any CL win again slightly worse at having shots but again we are clinical at them usually. I genuinely thought this team is far too young to win a competition like this yet 7 of these players are 18 or under, 1 is 21 so that is ridiculous for the 2nd best continental competition in the world. 9 of the starting XI have been developed by the club (7 of which since I arrived). I am still in shock at this one still, I genuinely thought the better Brazilian and Argentine sides would do us, in all fairness we avoided them until the final but Sao Paulo were holders and no mugs so we've done superbly to win this so soon. The end of first stage is done too so i'll do the report on that tomorrow,

Dexter_Morgan
Sport Boys Association August 2034 As expected we've walked the first stage, considering the injury list we've had we've done really well to keep so far ahead of the pack and i'm pretty confident going in to each game no matter what side I put out. Winning the CL has put me about 4 years ahead of schedule here I'm going to do another year I think and see where we are then, so often my sides get split up straight after I leave (£100M+ left Austria Wien in the season immediately after I quit ) and it's certain to happen here so I at least want to leave the club in a strong position for the future before my departure, a new stadium would be nice but mostly i'm concerned about the training facilities getting another bump or 2 up. They approached me and i'm very tempted but I wanted to at least play in the CWC with Sport Boys. The other thing is the Palmeiras job is very insecure and i'd be tempted by that too I've done research on the River squad and it does seem like there's a few good kids there (as you'd expect) and I know from the scouting I have in South America there's a good few players there that I could bring in if I went, I may even take a few from Sport Boys as i'd rather bring the better ones with me as it's obvious as soon as I go there'll be bids for everyone and unlike me the club will just sell them anyway Thoughts? My head is saying Peru is too easy already and River is a huge club, Palmeiras is obviously a big club too and if they went down then that is tempting if I went for it, they seem to be rich for South America too and also just like River they have great facilities. Dexter_Morgan
I may as well retire now as nothing will beat this I think Admittedly them playing with 10 men for a long while helped but we were also down to 10 for over 40 minutes too and had to shift Farfan from DM to CB so it wasn't like we had all the luck. I was happy just being in the game when we got back to 3-2 as it seemed like they were going to run away with it The penalties were horrible, nobody missed until the penultimate kick so I was just waiting expecting that the next one would be the one we miss from the 4th one in Amazingly we've won both continental trophies this year but are 3-1 down in the title decider which is next up, so if this does turn out to be my last season I may be leaving with no domestic title to my name even though we've scored over 180 goals 2 years running

Dexter_Morgan
Sport Boys Association September - December 2034 As you know we had already won the CWC before the season ended but had the small matter of beating Alianza in the title decider. You may remember that I thought after the 2nd leg last year after the final whistle I thought we won it on away goals only to find out that it wasn't the case Well this year we won the 2nd leg 4-0 after being 3-1 down in the first and again I thought we'd done it only to find out we had to play a 3rd game yet again So basically aggregate score doesn't even count, the only way to win it over 2 legs is to win both ties or win and draw one, any other sequence means a 3rd game Not as many to pick from as the previous 2 years but these 4 were all signed up, Molina and Hinostroza look like they could become really good and if nothing else the other 2 2 look like decent squad players. I've made my mind up on my next move and all be revealed in the next post. If we hadn't won the CWC I had decided i'd stay until I did but doing it already meant there was nothing left for me to do in Peru, i'd have been going through the motions for the majority of league games waiting for the CL games such has been the ease of most games and I wanted 10 years max in South America before a return to Europe and I want to see how my tactic does in a stronger league too, I may even move to 1 more South American side after this one if the right job comes up. Dexter_Morgan
Club Atletico River Plate The temptation was too much in the end and I went for River. No trophy for 7 years at a club this big is a crisis so I felt I had to restore their former glories. There's a fair few good youngsters at the club already, a few aren't ready to play yet so i'm trying to get those out on loan where possible. There's more pressure here than at Sport Boys and obviously the quality in the division is higher too so I have to be a bit more careful when chucking kids in so hopefully i'll be able to combine our own talent but also get raid other clubs for their potential stars plus a few around the 20-23 year old range to compliment them. I've just got past the first transfer window so this is what I have done so far, Obviously there's 2 faces you will recognise from Sport Boys, obviously I know what these 2 can do and knowing me leaving Peru would mean that my former club would be raided anyway, in Europe I wouldn't normally raid a former club as I like to see them continue being as strong as possible but South America is different because of the cheapness of most players for one meaning you're facing lots of competition so I went straight for these 2 plus Molina from there (he joins in a years time) before I even looked at my own squad to try and avoid a bidding war and thankfully I got them all without any problem. I quickly found out Corinthians had already agreed a deal to sign our best CB so Alvarez on a free looks a decent enough player to at least cover that position for this year while I search for an upgrade. Pompei looks an excellent keeper for his age and a big upgrade on the 2 at the club so even though I paid £1M more than i'd have liked due to wanting a winger too I felt with us playing such attacking tactics that having a better keeper would be more important than attacking players as time and time again i've seen below par players still do well with the settings I have whereas we've lost stupid games due to not being good enough in the back positions, granted we'll still concede a fair few but a good keeper is a godsend. This is the formation i'll be trying though not necessarily the same players.

Dexter_Morgan
Club Atletico River Plate February - March 2035 Well the start to the season has certainly been interesting We're doing exactly what my sides should be doing and overwhelming opponents with the numbers we have going forward. It's still early but Rosario seem to be the only side able to keep up with us so far. Obviously my tactics have been attacking and successful no matter the club but these players must really have been under performing to not have won a trophy in 7 years, the main aim is obviously to remedy that but I want to smash every record possible with this club, I had a feeling i'd like it here but it's beyond that. I was considering doing one more club in Europe after 2 years here and retire as I was starting to struggle getting in to the save (Sport Boys did kind of rekindle it a little as that was fun to watch) but now I can't wait to play again and I just have a good feeling about being at River
