I test with Oxford and as well as being promoted to League 1 outplayed a team in League 1 to win JPT, so should work with an underdog.

However, to be more defensive minded reduce FB runs to mixed and width to normal.

I will probably need to get Oxford to Championship before I can test "Live".

Iv been using Kimz tactic for a long time now with lots of success, won the prem in first season with man city, finished 2nd in first season with Derby then won the league in season 2, but have always found it annoying that my striker never seems to score alot, and i cant play with wingers and its a bbit of an unrealistic formation.

Sooo tried this with villa for a season and won league, FA Cup and league cup...... Very impressed, so tried with carlisle and won league 1 got to league cup QF beating Derby and Blackburn also beat Wigan and Boro in the FA Cup, then in the 2nd season im sat top of the championship in january, Joe Garner and that Argy kid Beounonette or something are ripping teams apart.

One question though knap!!! What do you set your pitch size at??? when people make these tactics they never seem to say and i think it makes a big difference!

Look mate, no offence but you are either a very weak team or you cant manage. You need two good AMC's. In first season I made Champions League FINAL!!!!!!!!!

Enough said, its the best tactic on this forum. I cant believe ppl play with Kimz; being realistic, its a failure for the game if we play tactic such as KIMZ.

Its a disgrace to the football manager name. Im sure in fm09 they will not allow for UGLY looking tactic such as KIMZ to be a part of the game. Not being rude, simply realistic

No reason for this kind of negativity on the boards mate, you don't like the layouts of the tactics don't use them just make your own. Fair enough if the critiscm is constructive but you are just making a completely pointless post don't bother in future.

Just going to try the tactic you uploaded on 6th September with the mighty Stalybridge Celtic for the first time.

Wish me luck and well done you for being so helpful and supportive to other FM players! Perhaps when FM09 comes out we can be buddies and play online together? PM if you fancy it.

Ben

PS Just played my first game (i'm languishing 19th after 14 games in my 3rd season in Conference North) and I've just drawn 1-1 at home to Droylsden with this tactic. Droylsden are 10th. I had 8 shots, 2 on target and 6 off. Droylsden had 11 shots, 3 on target, 8 off. I only equalised thanks to a debatable penalty in the 86th minute, but perhaps luck plays a part in this tactic? Anyway, it takes players time to gel with a formation and with no money at Stalybridge, I'm going to have to do the best i can!!

PPS Might as well add that I've just drawn 1-1 @ Stafford Rangers thanks to a 90th minute equaliser from Chris Hall. So it does make me wonder if a bit of lady luck does make the difference. Stafford had 6 shots, 2 on target, 4 off. Stalybridge had 9 shots, 3 on target and 6 off. So it seems by this ratio that I was definately worthy of a draw. Possession stats in last two games have been virtually 50/50 as well.

It may help to use the counter attack tactic if you are the underdog.

I often find that players with potential can play at a level above their current ability, and I often buy these type of players. If you have no money you may need to be a little bit more defensive.

Thanks knap I will bear that in mind. I've just drawn 1-1 @ Burton Albion who are 2nd in the league with a W7 D9 L0 record. Once again I fell behind but equalised on the stroke of half time. Shot ratio was Burton 14, 3, 11. Mine was 6, 1, 5. So the only shot on goal for me went in (chris hall, striker, again).

I've just got my first victory though (yey!) at home to Gainsborough 3-2. This time i fell 2-0 behind and got one back on the stroke of half time. I didn't change any tactics and came through victories. So after 4 games, I've won 1 and drawn 3. I'll take that with Celtic!

Getting loan players in kemp, normally i just ask assistant manager who will come to Stalybridge but it's not much i can tell you? Any advice you could offer?

I'm noticing that out of the 6 goals I have scored so far, 5 have come in the last 5 minutes of either the first half or second half. Many other people noticed this?

Thanks,

Ben

I've asked Oldham for a few players if possible. I've decided to filter in my U18s and my assistant thinks i should give them a go, I might as well as i need to get rid of some high earners. Problem is that Chris Hall earns £400 per week but he scores in virtually every game so i need to keep him!

I went out of the Trophy, drew 2-2 at home to Stafford who had NO shots on target during the game (seriously, 2 own goals gifted them the draw). I lost the replay 2-1 thanks to a free kick but my unbeaten run in the league keeps going. I've just beaten Altrincham on their own patch 2-1 thanks to two headers from corners.

Sorry this seems to have turned into an FM story but just thought I'd pass on how I'm doing!

I have not tested at this level so feel free to comment.

Sorry I do not yet have an answer to NO SHOTS ON TARGET, all I can say is that it happens.

mister C

The 108pts has an odd CB set up which may only work with class CBs. Did it cause a problem or was the defence tight, as the idea was to reduce goals conceded.

This tactic has creative freedom and free roles. I would suggest using this at Home if you cannot breakdown AI park Bus.

OK i'll give this a go sometime? Would you like me to provide any more details regarding my progress? I've gone from 19th to 13th in about 6 games.

I've played Marine, Hucknall and Tamworth since my last post gaining 7 points out of 9. I've also noticed, and it might be a coincidence, but the opposition seem to pick up more cautions and in the case of a couple of matches, straight red cards for two footed tackles...

Hucknall were 3rd and Tamworth 4th so I was happy with 4 points out of 6 here.

I'm struggling to come to terms with injuries but i have just changed my budget so I have 30K which i can put towards transfers. How would you suggest i approach the market knap, seeing as it's 20th December now?

Thanks,

Ben

I would be careful at this level using free roles - players have a hidden free role attribute. Try the tactic with just a little creative freedom first.

Have a look at free transfers I usually go for Kinkladze at Oxford on his last legs but good for a season. Also you can have 5 loans try 4 long term and 1 short term. Short term are useful to cover an injury. Use your scout for reports on any potential that may be available.

If you want a helping hand load up Genie Scout.

You will find it on Editors Hideaway.

It gives complete player details in your game attributes values etc, team positional ratings.

There is usually 1 game a season when you will get hammered.

These are a fantastic tactics however the only real issue that I am having is dominating games home and away and not being able to score and then I know it will end with me losing 1 - 0

I am using the new look CB one at home and the counter attack away if the home side are favs. Any tips would be helpful

Just had one of those against Brighton.

The cf + free roles may help.

Player swop amcs or wingers to confuse any man making

Play down flanks

Add long farrows to MR/ML or take farrows off - need to watch AI formation on split screen.

Subtle variations can give an edge and playing to your best players or players on form can help.

The holiday season testing indicates that the tactics work home and away so just using 1 for both may help the gel factor (I am just using counter attack both home and away as a test), with a change just to mix up play.

Can also change amc barrows to farrows.

Sometimes because AI play 442 its useful to use a 424 tactic. I have a few options and these can grab a goal. I will run a few tests to see if worth providing a download.

You just may need a better forward. As a lone forward tactic needs to be good all round plus amcs with good long shots, building a team around the tactic.

Just 1

A holiday season runs in background or when I'm out or overnight, takes a couple of hours. I then tweak for a better solution and then if happy play live to test, I also test other tactics. The live testing for 6 seasons with Oxford takes the time.

Have got the others ok......

If you are a weak team in Division (you can check this on Genie Scout) try Counter Attack. However you will need to watch Defensive Line as your CBs will probably lack pace. Also make sure your best players fit the tactic formation.

Hey.

Your tactic is very nice. I started a game with Braintree in Blue Square South. I came on 3rd and won the Play off. So now im playing in Blue Square Premier. I have played 17 matches and have 1-2-14. So I'm not winning matches. My team is not so good, because its hard to get good players to my team. But i feel i create much chances but i do not score. So do you suggest i change the tactic or something to maybe start winning again.

Thanks :)

You can try 2 tactics

SUS just to try and grind out a few points or the Counter Attack

However you probably just do not have players for this level, so 1st get a Parent and obtain loan players. try players like Moses Balanta or Prem reserves under18s - It takes time sorting out players that have ability and will come to club but is worthwhile to build a team.

Look at team and see how to improve - you are limited by Club reputation however check the following to see if will come

Scribe

Corrandi

Soley

Sabic

Tierny

Mary

Ruldolph Austin

Nylen

Puri

Salmonsson

Daminuta

Mazzola

Musasa

Hey. Thanks for the help. I have started to win again. I got 4 players on loan, and they are playing realy good. I'm still playing with the first tactic, the only thing i did was to take on Counter Attack on that tactic. So now i have won 5-0, 2-1 and 6-0 in the last 3 games. I got Charlie Sheringham on loan from Crystal Palace, and he scores a lots of goals.

And thanks again for the tactic and for the help.

Just finished first season as Sunderland and managed to finish 6th but there was only about 4 or 5 points from 2nd conceeded a few more goals than I normally do when using this tactic. Got some better players coming in so should do a bit better hopefully.

Sheringham will be a star in BSP.

You can switch between tactics during a game. I am not a fan of counter attack because tends to build pressure, but if a tick makes it work by being a bit more defensive then why not.

I would be pleased with 6th with Sunderland - Did you try the CB tactic?

Link to post

I think they got mixed up and I used the normal one 6th is brilliant for Sunderland higher than I ever managed using other tactics. Will see how things go at start of season then maybe change to the other tactic. The goals were mainly conceeded in the first half of the season second half was wicked.

well i tried tinkering with the tactics once they started to not work... i ended up finishing 18th which is down on the previous season and my form tailed off dramatically for the last 6 to 8 games.

Not much I can do regarding finances so I'm probably going to lay off all high earners, stick with kids and try and unearth a diamond this way.

I need to upload the Genie which will help me on my way I suppose.

Hopefully screenshot will work of this tactic which is attacking quick and narrow, good holiday season result 107pts with Spurs and real testing won BSP with Oxford, still needs a few more seasons testing, but let me know if anyone wishes to try it out.

It is extreme, high attacking mentality, still with CB split. You can use with other tactics above, so you can change pace of game. I've had a few good results in Cup when playing teams in League above with the counter attack tactic and the SUS works well if you are under cosh, otherwise a no tweak tactic.

http://files.filefront.com/00V1107PTS4141+Totten8tac/;11782976;/fileinfo.html

Oxford have done well so should work at low levels and I have done some testing in Blue Square North, however, probably more suited to a top team.
