dafuge
Bourneview Young Men - Carling Premiership - 2077/78 After two successive Champions League final defeats it was time for change, so the job this season was to completely rebuild the squad. League Table It wasn't a great season for us, and it was a shame to see Glentoran fall back after keeping up with us for the first half of the season. Domestic Cups - our only defeat came due to international call ups. UEFA Champions League - it was our shortest run for some time, as Atlético Madrid edged us out on away goals thanks to this defeat. Glentoran in Europe - somehow topped their group, but couldn't beat Juventus at home. Tobermore in Europe - just like Glentoran, they topped their group but narrowly lost in the first knockout round. Newry in Europe - this will probably be their last game in Europe for a while. Linfield in Europe - a silly defeat in their first group game cost them. Squad - over half of this squad is new, so it is very different to last season. We still have a few weak spots, so there will probably be further changes. Transfers - all of our older players were moved on, along with a few others. The replacements were mostly youngsters, so they will take a while to shine. Premiership Transfers - not a lot to see other than our transfer activity. Key Player Profiles: Ferreirinha - our top scorer, although he wasn't up to the standard we were used to. Abdallah Nahimana - he's improved a lot recently, making it hard for Patrick to get into the team. Laurent David - he's now one of our key players. Nahuel Stella - brought in to try and replace our legendary central defenders. Denham Hubbard - a bargain at £2.8m. dafuge
A lot of decreases for clubs It was a horrible season for the country, things have been going backwards for years now The worst thing is that there's nothing I can do about it, the success we had a few years ago was purely down to having those two tycoon owners. You could assess the impact of your inevitable success on the DLR of many leagues, rather than just the one?[edit] Woohoo! Ton Up! (Raises Bat) The problem with that is that the reputation of a continent is static, so however well I did I would always be trailing the big nations in Europe. dafuge
Love this career. We need some tycoons now. They don't have a tycoon, but Glentoran are spending quite a bit, they must have some kind of financial backing. If we were to pick up two new tycoons now I think we'd have a chance of climbing back up near the top of the rankings. No sign of them yet though

League Table Second place was highly competitive as Glentoran lost ground on us. Domestic Cups - a clean sweep. UEFA Champions League - we were unstoppable at home, which led to a narrow victory in the final. Glentoran in Europe - a great group stage, but couldn't beat Chelsea. Tobermore in Europe - really should have got through that group. Linfield in Europe - a great run considering their recent history. Ballymena in Europe - a decent run. Premiership Transfers - Glentoran signed a couple of decent players from us. Key Player Profiles: Ferreirinha - top scorer again, but only just. Did the All-Ireland cup also gain reputation, as it it based in Ireland and not in N. Ireland? Also, how many clubs and how far down have turned professional? Here are the star ratings for the competitions: C1 - 1 C2 - 0.5 Irish cup - 2 League cup - 1.5 All Ireland - 1 Not sure how they compare with the originals, but they aren't very high. All but two of the Premiership clubs are professional, and they are the clubs that will probably get relegated.
gogogo golem
Photobucket seems to be down so I'll have to edit the screenshots back in as soon as it is working again. We definitely need more tycoons to help out the other clubs, we've been in decline ever since they left Thanks, I think I saw something about Photobucket being down in another thread. bov
Here are the star ratings for the competitions:C1 - 1 C2 - 0.5 Irish cup - 2 League cup - 1.5 All Ireland - 1 Not sure how they compare with the originals, but they aren't very high. All but two of the Premiership clubs are professional, and they are the clubs that will probably get relegated. Extremely low star ratings. Encouraged by your thread, I began a career with Queens University Belfast (third season now with consecutive promotions). C1 has 0.5 stars at position 661 in Europe and C2 0.5 stars at position 961. Sad about the All-Ireland Cup, as it sits with 2.0 stars at position 80 here. If it was tied to N Irish divisions instead, it would probably be as high as your premier division in your save. Wouldn't it be possible for you to raise the overall quality of the league system by advancing feeder clubs reputation and picking new ones in C2 once the first ones reach premier division? Sure welfare could be considering poor management but that wouldn't really matter in your position I suppose.
dafuge
My board rarely let me have feeder clubs. On the odd occaision that I've got one, it was cancelled fairly quickly

I've never really used them for loaning players out, but I do miss them for the scouting knowledge. It isn't just this chairman either, none of them have really let me have feeder clubs other than the odd one.

gogogo golem
Dafuge, can I recommend you try a youth only challenge next time in the lower leagues of a low rep European country.
dafuge
Dafuge, can I recommend you try a youth only challenge next time in the lower leagues of a low rep European country. As much as I'd love to, I'd fail spectacularly. It took decades for me to get a player who could even be considered a squad player, if I had relied on just those players I would have been relegated and sacked without doubt. I've no idea how people have managed it from day one, I know I couldn't. I may have a spell of youth only in my next career (like I did with FM09 and FM10), but it is likely to be in a big country, and only after I've had a chance to build the club up so the youth players are good enough. Unfinished business perhaps? IIRC you didnt quite manage to win the World Cup with only players from your academy. I would like to see you go for that again and hopefully this time succeed

At the moment I'm thinking of starting off unemployed in Spain and working my way through a series of clubs until settling down for a while at one final club where I can develop my own youth players. gogogo golem
I just said you could do youth only from the start in your next career. You are a brilliant manager and you get good intakes if you have junior coaching and youth facilities, they were the things holding back the youth in your save while if you start with a youth structure you get players good enough to start in your team and become key players in the future. If anyone can do it you can. I'm not saying you should do it, I'm telling you it's possible, especially with how many seasons you get through and how good you are at FM. You could end up with a team of Patricks, Lennons, Williamsons and Bickerstaffs.
dafuge
The problem is that my tactics are really basic and I rely heavily on bringing in better players than my opposition. I just don't think I'd stand a chance in a youth only scenario form the start.

I just don't think I'd stand a chance in a youth only scenario form the start. You could choose the best team in a league with good players and surely you could make your tactics more complex for the challenge. There are plenty of people with average tactics who have tried it and done it really well. Again, I'm saying you are good enough to do it.
