  1. Comprehensive then Extended then Key Then back to Comprehensive when trying new things or something's going wrong
  2. It's fine but a fresh topic would've been nice Do like a good ol' 4-4-2 myself, from your roles, the only thing that stands out to me is the right hand side of your midfield. the BBM and Winger on Attack. I like "sturdy" roles in central midfield and never usually have both wingers on Attack and feel you could drop the right winger down to Support TI's, you have the overlaps on both flanks, I'd be tempted to try taking those off and the Counter Press is a high risk TI that might be worth experimenting with
  3. Doesn't look that wide from your screenshot to be honest, it's a wide player role so he will stay out wide but there's fair few passes received infield there If you want them off the flank, maybe give an AMCL/R a try with some PIs
  4. You could say Kante in the title winning Leicester 4-4-2 was a BWM, he was the one that constantly hounded opposition players and covered every blade of grass. Exceptional player (at the time ) with him and Okazaki doing the bulk of the team's pressing
  5. Have you tried playing around with PI's@The unknown? Roam from Position or anything like that? It was mentioned wide APs drift, Trequartistas do too so maybe a bit of roaming will help
  6. I'd go for the 4-2-3-1 DM shape myself if I was trying to replicate Man Utd, I think that's part of the reason the research team made Erickson familiar with the DM position and AI Ten Hag use that formation So I'd drop the CMs to DM with the same roles, probably bump the BMW to Support I don't think I'd use Shaw as CWB(A) maybe a CWB(S) at most or just a WB(S). Same for the RB, wouldn't say they played an IWB so just a FB(S) Rest of it looks pretty spot on to me, you'll have to let us know how you get on
  7. I don't think you can, you can add new signings but no existing squad players as far as I know
  8. Nice little trick I do every year when in multiple cups, put out my second string/kids in the league cup Even when lower down the leagues, pizza cup, just don't play the favored starting XI Gives the starting XI a break, plays some fringe players and cuts down on the total games, just bomb out of a cup the board aren't too bothered about
  9. Your ass man will suggest a few styles (templates) to pick from. Man City's templates are likely to be different to Liverpool's, so try and base it club by club rather than the reputation If you want as simple as possible, I'd try out those 3 templates, pick which one you like the best or whichever fits your squad the best, then sign players and build your squad based off of that You could always tweak a few roles or TIs and if it goes South, you can just load the preset back up That's probably as straight forward as you'll get without having to mess around with tactics too much
  10. I can't really say from experience really, I prefer playing at the Balanced/Positive end of the mentality scale regardless if we're favourites to win the league or go down In FM22, I always felt playing defensive/cautious as a weaker team was asking for trouble and you were better off going on the front foot In FM23 some mentality changes were made so that defensive/cautious mentalities weren't quite as timid so they probably are a bit more viable for an underdog now
  11. RPM is a bit like a box to midfielder but is a playmaker or, if you mean from a DM position, like a SV with playmaker instructions Regista is a free spirit DM, basically move around, find space, look for openings @Cloud9's spot on about the IF, basically a goalscorer from wide just with two different mentalities, one more aggressive than the other
  12. I feel like I'm seeing the same thread time and time again If you want an IF/IW or any wide role to shine, you need to give them space and supply, it's FM 101 Having 3 out of your attacking 4 on Attack, isn't really prioritising any role. The CF is a good idea but he's still on Attack, he's the highest positioned role on the team so he'll be in a good position to score goals Leao could be scoring. Scoring goals = ratings You can use roles and TI's to create overloads to free up space See back to when Liverpool where actually good and how their system had Salah banging in the goals in a 4-3-3 DM Personally, I think the 4-3-3 DM is a better shape than a 4-2-3-1 to really get the best from a wide attacker 4-2-3-1 is still decent, here I spent a season with the Wide Target Forward, I really had to think about how I could get the best out of the role and factor in his limitations for the benefit of the team I did the same with RMDs and IFs but because they're more mobile, I used 4-3-3's for them
  13. I have, I've had young players start off inconsistent and then lose the tag a few years into their career Important Match rating is the same, that can improve over time as they get used to the big games Match experience after turning 18 is vital, so the more they get, the more they'll improve. If you've no room for them in your team, loan them out to a league they're suitable for In the OP's case here, getting his striker out on loan to a NL team could do him the World of good
  14. That can improve with age, but yeah, I don't think I'd be keeping him around, one for the loan list
  15. No, not really, they're in different areas of the pitch, AML and CML with different roles That's a good trait for a playmaker to have, helps mix up the play and he'll do it regardless or role Just a suggestion anyway
  16. The game will give you the important attributes As for your player, he's only 20, he'll get better with the right development
  17. I think your front 3 roles look fine The DLP in CM, I'm not fan of because of the hold position PI when you have a DM, maybe try an Advanced PM instead to free that role up a bit? Then the HB I see as the most defensive DM role so maybe an Anchor or Defensive Midfielder instead? TI wise, they look coherent, the Underlap on the left doesn't make much sense but isn't a deal breaker, you could always change Alt-Nouri to a WB and have him Overlap instead but that will happen naturally anyway
  18. Because he'll be a focus of play. Ideally, you'd want to overload the left hand side of the pitch, the Mez will help with that but you can use the Team Instruction to focus down the left flank so a playmaker in the centre isn't really needed There's a load of threads on here over the years about the Raumdeuter, here's one I did a while ago, regrettably, I didn't post the tactic but I've made a few successful RMD tactics since
  19. I definitely wouldn't use an IWB(A) on the flank of the Raumdeuter, you want a role to overlap him rather than cut in and flood his space Playmaker in the centre probably isn't needed either, I like the use of the Mez over on the left hand side of centre midfield, that's on the right tracks
  20. Just some general points, your midfield and attack are pretty aggressive. PF(A) with two IF(A) is pretty much like having three strikers. In centre midfield, the AP(A) will get forward as often as he can and the BBM will also make those surging runs forward. Add on top of that the Wingbacks, role wise, it's about as offensive as you can get and leaves a lot to do for the centre backs and DM Then the TI's, the high press, the overlaps and counter press then add more I think even a top top team would struggle playing like this to be honest Maybe just try toning down a few roles and TIs
  21. Depends on how high pressure your want, the obvious answer for a high pressure striker role would be the Pressing Forward on Attack, but absolutely, a DLF partnered with another role like @Yiszmentions would be fine.
