  1. @trueblue9877 I dont see any problem with that tactic. Its a good starting point. You may want to adjust during the match appropriately.
  2. Well, the good thing about FM and football in general is, that you dont need to play a certain way just because you are a relegation or top side. Of course you can (should) exploit potential weaknesses of your opposition but your general style of play should ideally match your teams strenght. And you see that irl too, there are always sites, that rather go for a more positive and technical approach eventhough they are not amongst the top 5 or whatever. As you play with a double pivot in CM (two holding players), you can get more adventurous with your Wing Backs, so I would use two WBs here. 4231 is quite a top heavy formation which is suited to quick transitions and a high press. So you might wanna look for a more positive approach and up the team mentality accordingly. If you look for low crosses, I would narrow down my attacking width or remove the crossing instruction. But as I mentioned earlier in the other post, you need to look at the matches and your team to find a suited approach.
  3. It’s very ambitious to finish in the top half as a relegation side. However, looking at your Roles and duties, I would have the left WB as a fullback to provide more defensive solidity. I would have one of my CM's as an attack duty OR two support duties where one drifts into the channels (carrilero/mezzala). Your wings look fine, but a Target Forward properbly isn’t the best role in a single striker system, as he needs someone to support the attack centrally. Either go with a link up player (DLF e.g.) to free up space for your wingers (you could even use two attack duties then) or someone who breaks the line like AF or P. Looking at your instructions, every single one is a high risk modifier to your play. It’s hard to actually say what’s going wrong, why you concede, why your attack breaks down from a forums perspective. You need to provide information on these topics. Like if your players end up isolated in attack with only few options or don’t even get there, your ball Progression might be too fast compared to your players Progression then you might wanna lower your passing directness and or tempo. If the opposition is easily playing through your lines, you might wanna protect the space better by lowering pressing triggers and or remove tight marking. If you watched tons of matches, you should be able to provide these information Whether a tactic works or not, heavily depends on the players, as well on how the opposition plays. If anything changes from season to season or save to save, a tactic can break down entirely especially if there is no balance as mentioned earlier. Also I noticed your team not being entirely familiar with your tactic.
  4. It's still the case and its independend of the role. So your Regista will focus his passing more an ball reternation.
  5. There is a whole section for downloadable Tactics Usually those from the user knap are pretty good https://community.sigames.com/forums/forum/67-tactics-sharing-centre-uploaddownload/
  6. If you are looking to trigger the „Counter-attack“ event within the match engine, that can happen under any instructions if the opposition committed players forward. Your players will automatically switch to a more attacking behavior to finish off the opportunity while the opposition is still out of shape. If you are looking for a style with fast transitions under any circumstances you may need to adjust Passing Directness, Tempo and in Transition instructions accordingly.
  7. Yes, it adds up to an even more cautious passing style. Good to hear it worked for you and success could carry on
  8. It’s not a problem per se, but why would you want your team to hold onto the ball in your own half for no reason against an opposition who is constantly pressing your defenders? Eventhough your players might be capable to play under pressure, they will break down at some point and need to go for a clearance or loose the ball. And as I said, due to shorter passing, your build up is already quite slow. I don’t really see a reason for slowing it down even further. In case you didn’t know, PooD does lower the passing directness of all players in the defensive and DM strata. Asking your GK to play out from the back should be no problem as it’s very different from PooD Instruction. It’s a specific case if you play against teams, that try to press you high. If you play against more defensive teams, there is no problem playing with shorter passing and PooD
  9. First of all, dont change too much, as your tactic is working pretty well generally. It would start by removing Play Out of Defence. Due to Shorter Passing, your team builds up quite slowly anyway. Play out of Defence usually is most effective if your players are not under pressure and can play the ball around safely in their own half to hopefully free up some space to further progress the ball by lureing out one or more attackers of the opposition. However, if your defence is under constant pressure, PooD can lead to more clearences or dangerous turn overs of possession.
  10. Every season plays out differently due to several factors. You can just pick one of your own tactics and replay a season over and over again and you most likely will end up with different results and / or different adjustments to your tactics. Thats the beauty of football, isn't it?
  11. They behave exactly how they were set up. Much Shorter Passing instructs your players to look for safe and close passing options and they will position themselves accordingly (with the back to the goal) to receive said safe passes. You can challange the issue by becoming more direct (increasing passing directness) until you are happy with the amount of final passes / through balls. Don't worry, you will still build up slowly with short passes, as you've got Play out of Defence activated. But your more advanced players need some directness to actually create chances. If the passing fits your liking but your players will be too direct on shooting and crosses, just add Work Ball into Box.
  12. Well I did a quick test myself. But I really didnt notice any difference while my team was in possession. I took two screenshots of the left WB trying to flank and where the team most likely finished transition. What I noticed tho, was my defenders immediately stepping up or falling back after possession was turned over. Eventhough I didnt look after this in particular, the positioning of the oppositions striker should also matter and influence how high your player might move up the pitch. Im not trying to argue against you, but I just want to get this clear as its very confusing. And I still wonder why both the game and the Manual relate to DL only affecting Out of Possession behavior. LOE Higher, DL Much Higher LOE Higher, DL Much Lower Maybe I dont understand exactly what you mean, but LOE also doesnt affect in possession behavior. Relating to official SI Sources, the DL does only affect your defense if the opposition has the ball in their own half. There is no effect if the ball already transitioned into your own half anyway "Defensive Line This instructs the defenders as to how high they should position themselves when the opposition have the ball in their own half." And it does make sense that way. Gaps appear while defending, ifyour pressing line is high and attackers/midfielders move towards the ball while your defensive line drops. If the ball already transitioned into your half, you cant defend with a high line anyway. The Lines basicly indicate how deep your players are willing to fall back before stalling the opposition. //Edit: I'm just confused about why SI either can't be transparent on what their Instructions actually do, or why their official sources are wrong, or why their mods differ from official sources. Pick whatever is correct.
  13. Are you actually sure about this? It varies heavily from what SI says in their manual as @Tsuru quoted above. Usually when in possession, the Defensive Line (in terms of players, not instruction) will adjust their positioning based on mentality and the general positioning of your team to remain compact. The Defensive Line Instruction however, tells something about the positioning of your backline if you are out of possession to compress the pitch and allow for a higher pressing line for example. It should have no effects on when in possession.
  14. It would be nice to know the expectations for your team. I assume 17th is quite a good result for you team, as you mentioned that your players are poor in comparison to the other teams. So, generally spoken, I wouldn't change too much if you match or exceed expectations. One thing tho I would change is remove Play out of Defence, as it is particular suited to teams, that want to build up slowly in particular, to lure the defending team out of their shape. If you are the team thats under constant pressure (which I assume, as you are the Underdog team), your players will clear the ball more often or loose possession due to mistakes as they can't handle the pressure of being pressed constantly. In addition to that, on a positive mentality, your Team will play their way out anyway instead of hoofing the ball thoughtless.
  15. Indeed it’s a debate and it depends individual preference also. Two ways were working particular well for me Envisioning a playstyle for the long term and fitting players into it no matter what. It might come at the cost of a little bit less success until I made the right transfers Building a system around the favourite roles of my best players. I usually do that if there are some exceptional players in my team (4*+)
  16. Haven’t read yet, but I appreciate the contribution to the community and wanted to thank you for sharing the playbook with us (for free!) Is liking bugged for mobile version of the website btw?!
  17. Well, hard to say without knowing the exact player movements. Basicly both instructions do the same but from a different angle. It’s neither more or less effective, it’s just different The question would be what you are trying to achieve. If you are looking to mark specific players tightly, I would go for Opposition instructions. If you want players or even the whole team to mark tightly generally, then go for the PI/TI
  18. Yes, how it’s approached can be defined by the various instructions for the whole team, individual players and oppositions Player Instruction = Every opposition player who enters the defensive zone of that player (who is instructed) will be marked tightly Opposition Instruction = That specific player will be marked tightly by whoever is responsible for marking that player at the time
  19. Any of your teams, including B teams and youth teams benefit from your training facilities. Youth facilities helps your team to get higher potential players from youth intake.
  20. Your team needs to become familiar with new instructions (tactical familiarity). If they are not familiar, the effects of just switchings things around will be ever so slightly or rather poorly executed. By the way, I didn’t advice to either lower the tempo or passing directness. @Sneaky Pete gave you a good advice to look at your players positioning to achieve more depth and a pivot to recycle possession if your attack breaks down. Did you have a look at that?
  21. You properbly cant. Under the hood there is a 1-20 scale (the more attacking, the closer to 20) for everything as far as I understand the Manual correctly. The tactics creator is just a „simple“ way of showing you how your style could be refined. I would approach it like a do more or do less of something in relation to your mentality. So if you are not happy with default passing directness on a certain mentality, you can instruct your players to either look for more safe and short passes or to take more risks by playing it direct for a quicker transition. Instructions are not absolutes.
  22. This is not approved in any way, but all instructions are related to their assigned mentality. A Higher Tempo on a cautious mentality will be different from a higher tempo on an attacking mentality. I know, it doesn’t make sense and SI should really make that clear by naming it accordingly. However, you can check this by looking at defensive instructions. Check out a higher line on cautious and compare it with an attacking mentality. You will notice the high line on attacking mentality will be slightly higher eventhough both are name „higher line“
  23. I really appreciate that, the best tip I can give you is to start very simple in terms of instructions. Figure out your formation and roles first and start adding instructions step by step. Learn how certain changes do affect the match engine. Just adding 10-15 instructions right away won’t properbly help you at all to figure out what everything does You can play with several playmakers, as long as they are spread out in terms of position and / or duties. You did that very well.
  24. I would lower attacking width by two notches to promote combination play. Width will be provided sufficiently by your wingbacks. On a (much) higher tempo, players tend to rush things and with 10 shots off target and no clear-cut and only 2 half-chances, this might be an issue. Instead of lowering your tempo (tempo is important to destabilize the oppositions defense), I would add Work Ball Into Box. You have adviced both Wide attackers to hold up the ball by adding Overlapping team instructions. Usually those instructions are very helpful if your team transitions very quickly into the final third to then gain time for other players to join the attack. However your team is trying to play out of the back, so your transition Speed is relatively slow. Holding up the ball in that case will just prevent them from making penetrative runs Only implement those advices step by step to exactly figure out how your play evolves
  25. Yeah, but possession is achieved in your own half as you are on a cautious mentality and trying to play out from the back. Your team doesn’t give away possession because they are too risky (check your pass %) they simply need too long to transition into the oppositions half. As long as results are fine just keep going, I was only about to tell you what the game is trying to express with that phrase
