Nice to see attribute changes for staff now! well done guys However, we dont check staff attribute pages very often (unlike players) So Im not sure how long the green or red arrows will hang around for, before they disappear? Therefore it would be good to have a history of attribute changes for staff, going back over the last year (as you can do with player attribute history)

When the CPU calculates who is the best arial threat in your team, will it be correct every time? Is the calculation based on a variety of factors, not just jumping reach? ie it includes attributes such as decisions, anticipation etc? If the set-piece coach is not very good (he has a low set piece score), will he calculate that player A is the best aerial threat when in fact the best arial threat is actually Player B.

"The future of football manager" discussion
2feet replied to DarJ's topic in Football Manager General Discussion
Great to read the blog update... onwards and upwards. Really looking forward to seeing how the game evolves. -
This is part of a larger problem throughout the game. When major things happen, there is little sense of achievement, it's just another game. You might get an email saying a few lines about how pleased the chairman is, but thats about it. It's derisory! Nothing to mark the special event. No graphics. No cut away scene. Just an email. Really poor. In real life of course, the team gets on a double decker bus and parades through the city!

Why is it so hard to sell players on FM23?
2feet replied to busngabb's topic in Football Manager General Discussion
Best way to sell is wait for an offer on a player, then negotiate with them to increase price. It's really best when you have a player doing really well and getting high ratings, and this attracts interest. They may not even be in your top bracket of players, but their performances mean you'll get above market value offers. -
I requested this years ago... no reply... nothing done... typical

I think media handling styles cover this...? eg 'controversy' attribute?

Just introduce more fun and story-telling and character into the game to complement all the serious dry calculations and strategy. Think more Nintendo and less Microsoft: - Better immersion... to improve the feeling of connection with your players e.g. a difficult situation occurs with a youth player, requiring your management to nurture him through it over a period of a few months (using multiple conversations). If you succeed in bringing him through it, the player gets a boost to his personality and attribute scores and his PA goes up. Nurturing young players, and developing personality connections between managers and players is a fundamental part of a real managers job, and it could be a satisfying one for FM players to be involved in. - Use faces and short comic-book style animations more. EG the faces of journalists in press conferences change depending on mood EG when your team scores a late goal, a small animation appears in one corner showing the manager running along the sideline celebrating, etc - I want to see players celebrate a goal by interacting, jumping on top of each other, etc. Currently they do not touch during celebrations - Automatically show penalty replays from behind the taker. - Improve shortcuts so you can jump to the screens you really want with one press. Currently there's restrictions on which pages can be jumped to. This would speed up some of the repetitive business that needs doing regularly. - Make a map showing the influence of Traits on your players movements and decision making and how these traits interact with the traits of other players in other positions (traits override all other settings so its important). Use the layout of the Squad Planner to do this - Better Press conferences. Refresh the tired phrases. Incorporate a ticking clock so the longer you take to answer, the more angry the mood of the journalists become.

Fair question, it does specifically say that his role is for that telling shot or cross. Maybe they mean that he either takes a telling shot, or he bursts through the line to receive a telling cross? The role is a 'striker on the wings', so crossing is not really part of that.

you're sorting according to condition. see the grey dropdown box at the top change this to something else to make it stick for the next game, im not sure, try creating a custom view then saving it?

The manual doesn't say: - that trapping only applies outside the defensive third. - that the pressing option you choose affects defensive width - that the pressing options change the angles players press from - that cross engagement should be used to control how pressing operates in the defensive third that the press inside/outside controls do not apply to

Hi Jack Although I appreciate the helpful reply and details very much indeed, this post really makes me quite angry, because these clarifications expose how the game itself doesn't explain to the player what the controls actually do. For example, where in the game does it indicate that the trap inside/outside instructions only apply outside of the defensive third? Am I missing something? Why don't you bring clear information like this into the game? So instead of "hmmm let me turn on 'trap inside', see if that helps my team. Don't really know what it does, and the game doesn't really explain what it does either, but hey ho lets give it a try"... ...instead of that we can make informed decisions about our set-up. Maybe take the opportunity to improve immersion? Have a staff member come to you to explain how traps work, giving similar information as per above to clarify how it works? "Hi Derek, let's have a chat about how we're using traps... " He then suggests taking another look at how our current set-up uses traps, in order to improve results. This could be available for each team instruction too.... Would this be too much work for SI games? Would the staff advice be too subject to changing with each new version of FM? Is that why clear explanations about what instructions actually do is so hard to find in FM?

you dont need to buy a new mobile phone every year and you dont need to buy FM every year either.

Does 1st choice perform better when he plays... if yes then ease him back in. If you dfont then squad togetherness will drop as playing time complaints rise. If he doesnt perform better, then the backup has better consistency, pressure handling, etc Play the 1st choice then drop him.... if he complains tell him his performances arent good enough. You may need to buy a better 1st choice
