Hi all, I went from the tactic in the first picture to the one in the second. The first brought me great success with good teams, but I'm looking for something more solid in a lower leagues save. I warped from 1 to 2. But as I'm testing with Real at the moment and it just doesn't seem to click. Does the shape (and roles) have a future or do I lack too much defense on my flanks? Thanks in advance!

Unless you're Everton or ManU, then you might not have a choice in the matter.

FM Retro-Gaming... which old is the best?
jens_dewit replied to Stepak1's topic in Football Manager General Discussion
I was just about to ask... are older FM's to be found anywhere? (And can I get them on my Steam Deck?) -
100% agree on the match fitness thing. It's not that long ago I actually started paying attention to this and it's been having a massive impact. BUT, and related to this, it's also important to not over-use your tired players. If you never rotate, your players will be too fatigued to have the desired impact. Since last year's version the 'risk assessment' view has been my standard view on the squad page. Players with 'heavy' are almost always taken out of the team in favour of players with 'light' or 'medium'. Works wonders. Sure, this causes me to lose sometimes as my back-ups aren't up to standard yet, but it's helped me win 3 consecutive titles while being competitive in the CL. (I'm 14 years in, mind. C'mon Boomkes!)

Load FM Touch 24 save into PC
jens_dewit replied to Spratt's topic in FM Console and FM Touch General Discussion
You can play more than 30 seasons if you play Console on a PC (with Xbox game pass I believe?). But you can't transfer a save file from e.g. PS5 to pc I believe. Nor can you port your save into the full FM PC game. So it's 30 seasons on Touch and console on Switch, PS5, iPad,... But Console on a PC will have the option to keep going I presume. -
I played FM23 a bit on the Deck and was happy with it. A lot slower than FMT on my Switch, mind you, but it definitely gets the job done. Not buying it for FM24 though, since I don't want the full fat experience and I'm much happier with Touch.

Hi, I'm still playing a FMT23 save on FMT24. It appears that the crashing bug has ported over with the save................ (IT'S SO FFFFFF frustrating!) Even worse, on previous games I just had to restart the game and load the save again, but now it 'resets' the entire game. The saves are still there but I have to reset EVERY setting. Language, preferences, formats, every 'are you sure you want to do XXX' ticking box... I know swearing is frowned upon here, but FOR ****'S SAKE. This is soooo irritating. Instead of just fixing the bug in the previous years, when I moaned about it as well but nothing happened, you made me import it in this year's version??? Anyone else have this or is it really just me? SOO annoying. Apologies for the rant, but I had to let this one out.

While I agree with your views, I have to say I've been on the other side for a long time too... Playing this game, not seeing what was going wrong... It's easy to say 'test, look at how it plays out and adjust if necessary', but what if (even after years of practice) you still don't recognise what you're looking for? On the other hand, playing with everyone on an attack role just seems wrong too But glad this type of thread exists now. I bet I would've been glad for it back in the day

Makes sense as the star ratings are measured against players present in your club, league/country, ability of your trainers etc. If you have a 180PA player, he'll have * at your club. A 160PA player might be 'demoted' to 3* because of that. If the 180PA one leaves, the 160 one will be re-evaluated accordingly. The bump is only visual

Not played an awful lot yet (and only on an imported save so not sure if that differs from new saves) but scouting work a bit better than last year - though I wonder what your grievances were? (to be able to give a more detailed answer) The game feels quicker than last year, a lot quicker even. ME however feels just a tiny bit more laggy. Last year there were only a few matches where visuals seemed to lag a tiny bit, now it happens a bit more. But not so miuch that it actually bothers me. Other than that the ME feels improved, though woodwork shots fly by in the blink of an eye (you have to see it to know what I mean). Long shots seem a bit OP this year. All in all, I'm very happy with it and for me it feels like the best Switch version to date.

I disagree. If Scotland were to become the biggest league in the world, a lot of people would either suddenly be interested, or have their interest increase over the course of only a couple of years. It's the same with clubs. Before Abramovich, no non-UK person thought of becoming a fan of Chelsea. Or what about Manchester City? Now they have loads of fans all over the world. It grew in just a couple of years. (Or what about Barcelona in the era between Cruijff and Pep? I'm sure they saw their fanbase dwindle.) If Saudi Arabia keeps this up, they might become one of the top 5 leagues in the world and a lot of people will tune in.

Fm Touch on Steam Deck?
jens_dewit replied to jens_dewit's topic in FM Console and FM Touch General Discussion
Yeah. I mean it's not bad, but it can take up to 30 seconds to process one day at a lot of times. -
Fm Touch on Steam Deck?

It's quite alright imo. Smallish but fine. It's more about processing speed etc. -
Fm Touch on Steam Deck?
jens_dewit replied to jens_dewit's topic in FM Console and FM Touch General Discussion
I know but when I go on holiday it would be so much more convenient to carry only one system. One that has a far better battery for this game... First world problems, I know -
Fm Touch on Steam Deck?
jens_dewit replied to jens_dewit's topic in FM Console and FM Touch General Discussion
Unless you run Windows I guess... Shame since it's the perfect carrier for FMT! -
Hi, long time FMT fan here (played it on the Vita once upon a time). I was wondering if anyone knows the best way to play FMT on the Steam Deck? Tried the full version on there, but it feels sluggish, has too much of everything and lacks the zest the Touch version has. I play it on the Switch, but I'd prefer to have everything on one device when I travel. Thanks!

New leagues and features FMM24?
jens_dewit replied to Cothucotchy's topic in Football Manager Mobile General Discussion
Don't be mistaken, this is what everyone was expecting. It's just that everyone was hoping for something more. What you have to understand about us long-time fans, is that we've been through a lot. We've seen a lot of big changes. From the introduction of international management (2007) over multi-leagues (2010 I think?) with 3 leagues to more multi-leagues (very recently) and the introduction of a new match engine (2012 or 2013?)... And over the last few years, the big ones have been far fewer and longer in between. Even though devices have been getting exponentially better, the evolution of FMM has slowed down to very incremental improvements. No doubt sales figures have something to do with it - and I'd never fault Marc for hiw hard work and dedication - but I can't deny I'm disappointed by the lack of new additions. Of course, there's the casual gaming element, but still. Women's football is around the corner, hopefully, or something else that would make it wholly new again. Until then I'm probably leaving this franchise behind for FM Touch - which I've been doing for the past 2 years.
