  1. Great thread. Love how you managed to translate those principles into the game - to the point where you're outperforming the actual principles
  2. In last year's FM Touch I had a wonderkid striker in 2nd Belgian Div. He was our top scorer that year at 16, again in the 1st div the year after (17). Had to sell him for 15 mil (saved the club's finances) and brought him back at 25 to become the nation's top scorer. Barca wanted him for 100M then but never let him leave again He didn't want to go either as he had our club as his fave since he came through the youth ranks. One and only time I had such a good youth player on FM. How the good times perish...
  3. FMM has had it in there for years. Existing players don't get existing tallies, they start counting from the moment the game starts. International goals are counted separately and only goals from official competitions count. I've always felt that to be just right. So kudos to @Marc Vaughan I guess 😂
  4. I'd consider changing it up a bit. 2 WBs is adventurous on the one hand, but on the other they're both not getting further forward. I'd change one to a FB on attack, which will offer about the same (or even more) solidity but more movement forward. The same goes for your 2 CMs and IFs. They're all doing kind of the same thing, doesn't that get stale? Personally I'd go 1 W(a) with a WB(s) behind him and the other IF(s) with a FB(a). Not too sure what the best change is for your mids. In terms of TI's it might pay to lower your LoE one notch to be more compact + offering you more space to run into for your counter attacks. Might be necessary then to also change your DLF to AdvF.
  5. Might be better off keeping it simple with a FB(s) then. Tinnerholm isn't bad, but he isn't world class either. My main striker is Héber, Talles Magno (wonderkid, 19yo) is 2nd choice - Talles is also my first choice IW and the chances often do feel rushed, but even so I'd think they'd be bagging a couple more on an xG of 2.36
  6. I'm having the exact same issues. Playing pretty good overall, but after the first 10 games we suddenly lacked scoring ability. We create lots of chances, often xG of 2+, only scoring once if at all. Opponents score on the break (which I'm trying to do, damn you!) on the very few chances they get. Anything you guys notice that might help me get this back on track? I'm playing as NYCFC if that helps, haven't changed the roster much.
  7. Anyone know if this is available for the Steam Deck as well?
  8. Great to see some other takes on what I've been (kind of) using for the past 2 years. @Cloud9 I was wondering if you'd do me the favour of shining your light on my adaptation of this? This started out with a HB with a DLP(s) in front of him, but trying to use some Cleon knowledge, I changed to a double pivot pairing. My team currently is only average, but even when playing as Celtic we have great games and then some lesser games. Consistency seems way more off then last year for some reason. I gues my mid block might be to blame for some of that, without expressly aiming for the counter. Been thinking of changing the DLF to something else, perhaps a CF(s). Tha AF does great work often, but has some off games as well. The IF doesn't score as much as he used to last year, which is a real shame... might change him to an IW(a) an put more focus on the AF. Finally, I have the impression that my IWB worked a lot better last year, but that might have something to do with the double pivot taking up more space?
  9. For me, a Netflix subscriber for almost 10 years, this feels like a negative move. Not because of the player base implications (people will always be upset), but from a business perspective. This feels like ominous foreshadowing of something worse. At this time, my guess would indeed be that the company was either about to fold on the game and Netflix (hugely investing in gaming) saw an opportunity, or it's a Saudi thing: too good an offer to pass on. I'd imagine Netflix will take over hosting costs as well? Not sure how the hosting thing works for games in the play store. What the impact will be in the long term (will players still be able to play 3 years on?) is only a guess at this point. For those with subscriptions, like myself, it's a bit more 'meh', but I don't like what this is building up to. From a communications perspective (I work as a PR professional myself), it's a bad move from SI - get the expanded explanations out to your fans asap, not possibly a full week later - but a great one for Netflix. 'Look what we're bringing you, for no extra cost.' But of course, I can't help but feel that Netflix subs aren't familiar with something like FMM and will just shake their heads and move on with their day. We'll know more soon though, and we can evaluate more when we have something tangible to analyse. Until that time, I can't help but give the people at SI the benefit of the doubt. They've always worked for their fans, I can't imagine that changing, even though the outlook is grim.
  10. I know kv Mechelen start with 45m€ in debt. Though after the first decent-ish season (won the cup) there was an internal takeover and the debt was restructured to monthly 375k repayments instead of the 1.7M€ per month you start out with.
  11. In previous years I had the impression there was a whole world of distance between the AF and supporting wing players. But that might indeed be the wrong way of looking at it - although I'd only expect a poacher to be 100% goal-minded.
  12. If you play an AF without an IF(a) in a 433, does your forward get involved in play enough? In previous years I found him to be easily isolated without an IF.
  13. I always add 3-4 years to make sure I start at the right age to enhance my chances of getting a son churned out. Even though I already have kids - the game is discriminatory in that regard
  14. I'm playing in the Belgian top division, currently around places 7-13. My squad is too bloated, finances are restricted (really difficult to build up an amateur club in a competition with little sponsorship money, almost no tv money and no prize money). Which is what made me think.
  15. I've always preferred using set wages with no clauses at all - to have a clear grip on my wages and what I'm paying overall. But as a growing club I've noticed my squads tend to become overcrowded since most players are not yet reputable enough to get many offers for. Meaning we sometimes have to pay too many (mediocre) players who aren't playing a lot. I've been thinking of switching to lower set wages and more performance based clauses to get the overall wages down, unless we're really performing well. What's your game plan?
  16. I really think it's just (bad) luck. I've had one in a save last year even without great facilities or HoYD present. He even listed the club as his favorite (supporter)! Tore the league up age 16 and 17, sold him, brought him back when he was 25 and did it again. He could've been sold again for 100M+ but he never left and he never complained Was a dream that was.
  17. I also noticed this. Players often take their time when taking goal kicks as well when you're drawing in the end phase, even though you're smothering the opponent. Even with time wasting on 'never'. Can be pretty frustrating.
  18. What's your feeling playing FM on there? I'm used to playing the Touch version on the Switch and that moves quite a bit faster. Still unsure if I can ever get used to the (often) 10+ seconds it takes to move past one simulated day...
  19. You could try switching your CM's as well. Since your IW will be higher up the pitch, he might benefit from having a midfield option closer to him. Otherwise it wight just be the WB behind or next to him and the defensive midfielder way more down the pitch.
  20. Hi, I have a question, not sure if it's a bug or anything. In Belgium, first division teams have their U23 teams play competitive football since this season. E.g.: RSCA Futures (Anderlecht), Young Reds (Antwerp), Club NXT (Club Brugge),... These start in the 2nd tier, some play in the 3rd tier (1e Amateur) or the 4th tier (2nd Amateur). My question: I started with Rupel Boom, team from the 3rd tier and went to the 1st tier, but is there a way to then have my U23 team play competitive football? I only seem to have U18 and U21 teams, no U23... Thanks for any help.
  21. Can't imagine it won't. FM Touch 2020 works pretty much the same as FM23 I thought (only other one I tested on the deck) Only thing I notice, especially for FM23, is that you have to be a bit patient. Rendering even one day without a game can sometimes take up to 10 seconds...
  22. If you happen to have a Switch.. I really like Touch on that. Goes by faster than the PC version on my Steam Deck. Played A LOT of FM that way last year, even though I didn't have a lot of time. Portability does it for me
  23. I don't know though, because I'm starting to feel like Tielemans is in the same street. Perhaps Musonda too, although his case is far more complex. Maybe even Fernando Torres? Stellar time at Atleti and Liverpool and then since Chelsea he completely burned out?
