Have you finished December yet!

Going very well. Surely you get a break soon? Though progress in cups increases games and gives more experience to your youngsters. And tired legs to your seniors too.

The FA Cup game was 31st December, be doing the monthly update shortly.

DEC 2031

71881594_DECSchedulecomplete.png.d3d9278a94a491acf2b8fd6eeb87b9f5.png

What a month! That schedule was absolutely brutal.

In testament to the depth we have at the club, we used a next man up policy, we had a lot of players struggling to put together more than two games in a row.

One thing very noticeable is the number of different names on the goal scorers list this month.

The players just continued to step when they were required.

The analyst shows how great a month it has been. The defence has been rock solid, and the attack have been getting it done.

380116087_DECTable.png.df01039aa9dd277d7892474dc7608c22.png

We hold an 11 point lead over 2nd, although they have a game in hand, and a 20 point lead over 3rd.

1749287950_GSGK1.png.a93c9346ece49e72cc8e2d1b3f65324b.png

Hodgson scored 2 goals this month, taking his season and career total to 4 goals.

1702112863_DECFinances.png.72be11c1a892801c83777850b8190751.png

We broke our Gate record on the last day of the month, and that helped us to a small profit for the month.

Some of the legs in our team will be looking forward to this month as we have only 5 League games, while the kids will be sent out against Norwich in the Pizza Cup, and we host Lincoln City in the FA Cup.

DEC 2031 - Mid season stats

2095302035_DECStats1.thumb.png.2292df9aab76e1bfaa88fe6c5a42e3f1.png2137424316_DECStats2.thumb.png.0dcc5ca6d75d13c35b990384c9bee46c.png

One of the first things that stood out to me when having a look through these stats was the key passes, in particular, the number of key passes from our Goalkeeper. Hodgson has racked up 45 key passes this season, and is not far behind our leading midfielders, while Marco Petrosino has racked up 58.

Petrosino has an xG of 13.66, and has racked up 22 goals and 5 assists to go with those key passes, along with winning a massive amount of headers. It's easy to see why there was so much interest in him from Championship and Premier League teams.

At the defensive end of things, Tiarnan Sheridan, and Gareth Ward are machines in the air, winning headers all over the place, while they along with Ross Wolfe make plenty of important tackles as well.

We've used a lot of players this season, between international duty and schedules from hell, the fatigue has been a massive factor this season, but over all, the players are really putting in when required.

Back to League action.

Doing well. Let's see this out. You look like you have enough cash to survive a season or two in the Championship until you are ready for promotion to the Premier League.

We've also been lucky to have a lot of players on long term contracts, which has helped save us some money, but I think that will be changing over the next season or two as those contracts come up for renewal, we will need to start paying a lot more to keep them.

The other thing is this season we have four players on loan, that we have sold to Premier League and Championship teams. Those four players combined are being paid nearly as much as our weekly budget, by their parent clubs, and costing us nothing. Which is a massive boost for us, both on the park, and financially.

A big thanks to those posters who taught me about loan backs, sell on clauses, and arrange friendly clauses that have made a massive difference to how I approach selling players.

A cracker of a game where we took an early lead, but couldn't finish any of our chances. They scored an equaliser, but couldn't take any of theirs.

Same through extra time, so it went to penalties, where young Martin Jensen saved their first shot, before all our boys held their nerve to send us through to the Semi Final.

The boys put in a pretty solid performance against a much bigger Premier League club.

We had a goal controversially ruled out early before the hosts scored the only goal of the match on 23 minutes.

Neither side could create many chances for the rest of the match, but we did cause them a few headaches late, but it wasn't to be another season of upsetting an EPL team like last year.

We played well enough to win this game, but at the same time, it almost feels a bit like we got away with one, and stole a victory here.

Our defence done well to limit them to two shots on target, but it was a match where it seems like they played a lot better than the stats give them credit for.

But we'll take it, and after our first loss in 17 games last start, it was good to see us bounce straight back with a win.

JAN 2032

1488839931_JANSchedulecomplete.png.88c296c0a8d9fbdfaf4a0c2f44624d40.png

After the December marathon, we had a slightly less hectic schedule for January, but with a lot of players still suffering, we required a lot of rotation.

The results were pleasing, as we won 3 of 4 League games, and 3 of 4 cup games.

It was good to see us bounce straight back from our first League loss since November 1st, and while we exited the FA Cup at the 4th Round, we are still alive with the kids playing well in the Pizza Cup, reaching the semi final for the first time.

1655792876_JANAnalyst.png.25e04879754239b00fb668795704f580.png

The Analyst is happy with our defensive efforts, but we've become quite wasteful with our attacking chances, but that could be down to the fatigue factor as well.

528252019_JANTable.png.2bebe0688264edb25927fd2157936442.png

We hold on to a 10 point lead over Charlton, while we have extended to a 7 game lead over the chasing play off pack.

Transfers

We sent a few players on their way this month

1799969996_JANTransferIdowusold.png.5e916678eb117d197a636d31bc81a866.png

Idowu made over 200 appearances for us, but has barely featured over the last 2 seasons. He wanted a new challenge so we sent him on his way with our blessing.

He goes to Oldham for only a small fee, but we got the 50% if he kicks on, otherwise it's a wage off our payroll.

162042358_JANTransferBrownsold.png.482d2759f1798d2db7f2ced6fa75da00.png

Brown is a promising goalkeeper, but he was just never able to break into the first team, so because we currently have an abundance of keepers, and rather than keep him languishing in the 23s, he was sent on for a chance at 1st team football.

Again, only a small fee, but we got the 50% sell on should he improve.

299684643_JANTransfers.png.cb7f91e2a58bfe83edce2777038e47d2.png

It's strange that both their values skyrocketed after being sold to lower division teams.

I have updated the values of our previous sales as well. We are still in front on most of our sales and sold clauses.

1189249259_JANFinances.png.0e00bdf7a075001ff1d6403dbbb9d742.png

FEB 2032 - Transfer Close Day

There was one final transfer on the final day of the window...

1629309514_FEBTransferJacksold.png.ae857260d1d077429e02d8a956f68bf0.png

Jordan Jack had been a brilliant number one for almost 10 years for us. He is our all time appearances leader with over 380 games (320 League appearances) and became our first keeper and 4th player to score 100 goals, finishing with 101 (84 League Goals).

However, with the rise of Foggarty, and this seasons surprise packet Hodgson, how are both six and a half feet plus monsters, the comparatively tiny six foot one Jack, had found himself slipped to third in the pecking order, and has not played a game this season since the friendlies.

At only 27 he is still young enough to offer plenty, but we just have better options already, so while it's sad to see a club legend go, we couldn't stand in his way when he wanted to leave.

We got more than what he was valued at, plus some follow ons, and the usual 50% add on.

Been a while since I last checked in on this, but still going strong. Several more promotions in the bag and looking very good to add another this season.

Thanks!

The defence has turned into a brick wall this season. Hoping it stays that way and now we've gotten through the worst of the fatigue, the attack can kick on and lead us into The Championship.

We've booked another date at Wembley after securing a late victory in a cracking semi final encounter.

McBurnie got us on the board early in what was a free flowing game, with both sides playing attacking football, amazingly it took until nearly 70 minutes before another goal was scored, Bristol hitting back with an equaliser.

Just when it looked like penalties would be the decider, Kaine Tomlinson found McBurnie who somehow got a shot away under heavy marking, deep into stoppage time, and he found the back of the net.

It was a tough match, and probably a harsh way for Bristol to lose, but I am sure glad we didn't have to go to the lottery that penalties can be.

Nice work becoming Champions before any team qualified for the playoffs

Haha thanks, I think our defence has just been on another level this season. We've always been a good attacking team, but we struggled letting in silly goals last year. This season has just been a brick wall at the back.

Also helps that Charlton have dived off a cliff in the last month.

I couldn't believe how long some of those records have been standing. We get nothing for them, but would still be a unique thing to knock some or all of them over.

An exceptional season so far,  I'm looking forward to seeing how you do in the Championship which is definitely a huge step up in quality.  However, despite this I'd predict another season where you finish on the verge of the play offs as you usually do when promoted and when you don't go up immediately!

Will be interesting to see how we go up there. We will be losing up to four Championship quality players who we currently have on loan, and may not be able to keep.

We are going to need players to step up and fill their spots.

Young midfielder/stricker Archie Adams fired us into the lead just after the half hour, before even younger winger/striker Gary Gowdy finally killed the game off on 76 minutes.

While we made a loss this month, we are still looking strong financially.

Who knows what the Board may decide to do Stadium wise now we are headed to The Championship though.

Internationals

Well, there was a lot. At one point we had 20 players away from the club.

It was a special moment as our first academy product reached full international level, with Kim Suk-Kuen debuting for South Korea in a World Cup qualifier.

736945478_MARInternationals7.png.97194f55c4c17e981300c85b15582e31.png1148800822_MARInternationals8.png.69b0258a0e8acd78d50688f0fae2f275.png

Harry Bannigan became our 39th youth international, while Kim Suk-Kuen became our 40th international, and 1st senior international. He also became our first player to represent South Korea at any level.

Another unique aspect to this, is that he became a senior international, having never played a youth international. I wouldn't think that too common.

With the League season winding down, we only have three games this month, but we start with the huge clash at Wembley Stadium, going up against Man United U23s for the Pizza Cup.

Upgrades

I have finally succeeded in getting the Board to upgrade some facilities, and I didn't even need to beg. They just accepted them outright.

At a combined cost of almost 3.5 million, both the training and youth facilities will be upgraded over the coming off season.

Not sure what benefit this will give us, but they will both be ready to go for our first tilt at The Championship.

APR 2032

And so it begins...

I had always known this was the likely outcome, but that was the risk we took.

Marco Petrosino has been instrumental in our charge to the title and promotion, but he won't be with us for next season as West Ham want to get him playing in the Premier League, which was the reason he wanted to leave us in the first place.

So that's the first of our 4 loan players that won't be with us next season.

Devastating! The kids absolutely ran amok putting Man U U23's to the sword in a devastating display of attacking football.

We got an early goal and their task was made a lot harder when they had a player sent off for a cynical challenge before half time. We managed to score another before the break, which pretty much broke their fight.

We ran away with the game in the second half, finishing the game with a massive 5-0 scoreline.

We also collected about 100k from our share of the gate.

Only one player who wasn't a teenager played in the competition and it was our goalkeeper.

The Ravens have been playing well, and it looks like you’ll finish the season in style

I like how your goals scored is the same as your points earned :D

And now for some good news...

1297792579_Halliwellloan.png.d3ef885884a9450181861a86219150fb.png

Exciting news as Cardiff, who look likely to be a Championship rival next season, have agreed to let us keep Levi Halliwell on loan for another year.

Halliwell has also agreed, so we get to keep a potential Premier League player, for our first tilt in the Championship.

And it will cost us nothing...even better.

Thank you!

I must say I did not see that coming, although them having a player sent off in the first half certainly made our jobs a lot easier.

The Under 18's turn it on again...

Our Papa Johns Trophy triumph was the third trophy our kids have lifted this week

525229411_YouthLeaguewinners1.png.ce73fae544e4cbf73698f05d6e3ba0a1.png

Our Under 18s have won the League again, while it's not the perfect season like last season, it's been exceptionally impressive.

390464181_YouthLeaguewinners2.png.852d12df8f3e6dfeacf91747886b564d.png

They certainly know how to score a goal, slamming in 114 already in 24 games, while conceding only 21.

The future looks good.

2002310259_YouthCupwinners1.png.f455be470a81b9ea750e6e82d16195d0.png

Two days after securing the League title, they took out the Division 3 Cup final against Oxford U18s.

They've put together another brilliant season, and it's not over yet, as they are still alive in the FA Youth Cup.

This is getting ridiculous. They are too good :D

Kieran Rawlinson and Gary Gowdy leading the line in a season or so's time would be a scary prospect to opposition teams.
