Sorry to jump back in - but is there any major difference in performance on these two machines?

1) https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/lenovo-ideapad-3i-14-laptop-intel-core-i5-256-gb-ssd-blue-10228900-pdt.html

2) https://www.box.co.uk/X515EA-BQ170T-ASUS-VivoBook-15-Intel-Core-i5-8GB-RAM-2_3813204.html

I am torn on the two at the moment. If the bonus of the ASUS is a larger screen then I’m more than happy with 14 inches. Just wondering if I could get more bang for my buck with a 14 ASUS?

On the face of it aside screen size they are basically identical

I am outgrowing mobile and am looking to make the switch to the full fat version. I am looking for something under $200 that will run it smoothly, preowned is fine.

So far I have found these three:

If you're willing to pay more money then easily the i5 version.

If you are willing to pay more - what is the budget or you at your max now?

Do you need a monitor? If not - you can put that towards other things.

For 200 you're not going to get anything good at all.

Out of all of those - none of them.

The only one nearly good enough doens't specify the processor model.

And the price is too good to be true.

Be wary of buying 2nd hand.

Highly recommend saving much more.

If you wanted to take a chance - https://www.ebay.com/itm/334272103685?epid=11042552274&hash=item4dd42b8505:g:0BYAAOSwNgxhzHqH#viTabs_0

But I wouldn't recommend it - it could be a complete waste of money. It could be great. Who knows.

Well I don't think you'll do much better. I've had a look around.

This is the best on the site - but it's out of stock - https://ao.com/product/g15dkukam001d-asus-desktop-black-87387-253.aspx

It does not come with monitor/keyboard/mouse.

However, it's what I would go for - and get a 2nd hand monitor.

I know it puts you over budget - but it would be best.

Here's both processors compared

The Ryzen 5 is a good bit better.

You could call/email them - sometimes websites are not correct with stock levels or not updated.

Had it before buying a computer and their website said it was in stock and when I went to the store they were not in stock... I had to drive to 6 of their different stores to find it.

Hello. Would these specs be a good suitor for top 5 leagues and second divisions plus 2-3 additional top leagues?

FM will be the only intensive thing to run otherwise will just be admin.

If you don't need the touchscreen element, then you could get much better value going for a standard laptop.  But specs wise, it's fine for FM.

@tomafound it: https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/acer-aspire-5-a515-45-15-6-laptop-amd-ryzen-7-512-gb-ssd-black-10224405-pdt.html

It'll fun FM nicely.  As per the original post, we can't suggest how many leagues to run as everyone's perception of what is an acceptable speed for the game to progress is different.

Hi All,

Looking for advice please. I have looked at some great laptop suggestions on this thread but I'm struggling to find these in Ireland. I also have a few quid credit for this store so would like to buy here if I could find the right device

What would the feeling be on the links below?  I do want to us 3d match engine but with only English leagues running

Budget of €650, laptop will only be used for FM22

Hi All

Looking at reviews I'm leaning towards the Samsung galaxy book, I just don't know a lot about the Iris XE graphics for FM?

1st batch is best processor
2nd batch is 2nd best processor, and
3rd batch is 3rd best processor
ordered by performance - then by price

Batch 1

This is the best performance but it's only a 13 inch laptop (priced highest to lowest)

https://www.box.co.uk/GV301QEZ-K6082T-ASUS-ROG-Flow-AMD-Ryzen-9-16GB-RAM-1TB-S_3617149.html

Batch 2 (priced highest to lowest) all same performance

https://www.box.co.uk/NH.QC2EK.003-Acer-Predator-Helios-300-Intel-Core-i7-1_3746140.html

https://www.box.co.uk/FX506HM-HN014T-ASUS-TUF-GAMING-F15-Intel-Core-i7-16GB-R_3627481.html

This one is cheapest - smaller SSD drive - but should be plenty
https://www.box.co.uk/9S7-158112-081-MSI-Katana-GF66-Intel-Core-i7-16GB-RAM-5_3632305.html

Batch 3 (priced highest to lowest) all same performance

https://www.box.co.uk/82JY0018UK-Lenovo-Legion-5-17-(2021)-AMD-Ryzen-7-16_3557958.html

https://www.box.co.uk/30031897-Medion-Erazer-Defender-P15-AMD-Ryzen-7-1_3820499.html

https://www.box.co.uk/NH.QBCEK.007-Acer-Nitro-5-AMD-Ryzen-7-16GB-RAM-512GB-_3746136.html

https://www.box.co.uk/30031893-Medion-Erazer-P25-AMD-Ryzen-7-16GB-RAM-5_3820600.html

https://www.box.co.uk/4H2B4EAABU-Victus-by-HP-16-AMD-Ryzen-7-16GB-RAM-512_3821919.html

---------------------------

You're main focus here now is - if 13 inch would be ok for you - if it is it's a no-brainer.

If not then you can check out the other ones - and decide if you want a

  1. Larger SSD drive
  2. Screen size
  3. Price

That's about all that's left to decide.

All should be very very good for Fm.

No - that's the wrong thing to look for.

Put the money into the processor - not RAM.

That processor wouldn't be the best for FM.

What's your actual budget?

Do you need a thin and light laptop?

PS you can do a screenshot by pressing Window Shift S - draw a marquee on the screen - which will copy it to the clipboard.
You can then paste it directly.

Summary

Window Shift S
Select your area for a screenshot
CTRL V to paste it to the forum.

Thanks Smurf. Very much appreciated!

It should be ok. If you only play 2d it won't matter.

If you play 3d you might need to lower the settings to a point that suits you.

Why the Samsung Galaxy book? Pricey for what it is.

What's your budget and would you consider something else?

Personally I like the Galaxy but the price puts me off.

Lenovo Legion Pro or 14’ Macbook Pro M1?

Links to both please.

Lenovo legion pro means nothing, there's a lot of configurations.

Personally I feel the 14inch MacBook pro with m1 is very overpriced for what it is. However it's a very capable computer for fm.

If you post links we can let you know.

If you play 3d you might need to lower the settings to a point that suits you.

Why the Samsung Galaxy book? Pricey for what it is.

What's your budget and would you consider something else?

Personally I like the Galaxy but the price puts me off.

Hi Smurf

My budget is around 600 to 700 euro, I would like to use 3d match engine but anything with a dedicated graphic card is way out of my range, especially as I'm using it only for FM. The Asus and Samsung was the only two I thought would do job i was going to pick this up  but thought the galaxy would be better https://www.harveynorman.ie/computing/laptops/asus-vivobook-14-m413-14-amd-ryzen-5-8gb-256gb-transparent-silver.html

I have a 6 year old laptop that should run it no problem but the 3d match engine has very annoying stuttering, I have tried everything to get it going but no joy, so decided I might be able to pick something up in the sales.

Try komplett ... It's called something else now.

Harvey is expensive.

I'll take a look shortly just out and about.

If you don't need the touchscreen element, then you could get much better value going for a standard laptop.  But specs wise, it's fine for FM.

How about something like this? Bit cheaper and without the touch screen.
https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/lenovo-yoga-s7i-pro-evo-14-2-2k-laptop-512gb-intel-i7?queryID=f7c881f97acee05232532536793d5b60&objectID=532630

Or this in terms of specs? Could change the CPU to a ryzen 7 5850u as well.

Processor : AMD Ryzen™ 5 PRO 5650U (6C / 12T, 2.3 / 4.2GHz, 3MB L2 / 16MB L3)
Total Memory : 16GB Soldered DDR4-3200
Graphic Card : Integrated AMD Radeon™ Graphics

Thanks, I will consider it! Stumbled upon this, obviously it's refurbished so not necessarily the longest life expectancy, but it's 8GB with an i7 processor. https://www.amazon.co.uk/HP-EliteBook-820-12-5-Laptop/dp/B08PNNQY9L/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3A73FXUJ0UFN5&keywords=laptop+i7+8gb&qid=1641038184&sprefix=laptop+i7+8gb%2Caps%2C1503&sr=8-3

Says i7 and i5.

Doesn't actually say what processor it is, model number.

If it's too good to be true it usually is

Sorry guys I make a topic in off discussion but I ask here too because maybe you know.

My sister has the hp pavilion laptop model 14-bk069sa but she dropped it and the hard drive won't work the message is no boot device or critical failure imminent.

I change the hard drive with my laptop hard drive to test if it's that broken and my hard drive starts in my sister's laptop but gets a blue screen error but I think that's because it has conflicting updates.

What is the best now? Will a new hard drive work fine with no blue screen or can I fix my sister's hard drive or is it better to buy a new laptop now for her? She only uses Facebook, webcam for Skype and tax returns.

That's pretty good.  Although I'd consider this a better overall pick: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/hp-pavilion-15-6-fhd-144hz-gaming-laptop-ryzen-5-rtx-3050

The issue with the cheaper one is the listing doesn't say which i5 it has, so it's hard to be sure exactly what you're getting.

If it's the same as this one (which it could well be), it'll be fine: https://www.ebuyer.com/1265347-lenovo-ideapad-gaming-3i-core-i5-8gb-512gb-ssd-gtx-1650-15-6-82k100hduk?utm_term=&utm_campaign=DSA||Components&utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=ppc&hsa_acc=9163533921&hsa_cam=12454141641&hsa_grp=116302379897&hsa_ad=501977972848&hsa_src=g&hsa_tgt=dsa-454341694756&hsa_kw=&hsa_mt=&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_ver=3&gclid=Cj0KCQiAlMCOBhCZARIsANLid6aUMJ9wl2K38nvqr9lo5uo8JpQCYYMNQ-Cj_EfP1gQVXwUgTHjzDfAaApeUEALw_wcB

This model at Argos as the same model number as the one at Amazon, so looks to have the 11300h Processor.

Buy Lenovo IdeaPad 15.6in i5 8GB 256GB GTX1650 Gaming Laptop | Laptops | Argos

Would I be wasting money going for the more expensive one.

Hi All, just got my Xmas money and want to buy a new laptop, budget is max 800 but if I could get a cheaper one would prefer to pay less. Will only be using the laptop for fm22 and internet. Any recommendations

Given the games you're playing, yes.

You can get this one with the same CPU just with the same graphics card as the other one for £650 here: https://www.box.co.uk/82K200C2UK-Lenovo-ideaPad-Gaming-3-AMD-Ryzen-5-8GB-_3638079.html

If there's a way of getting that one within your means, then I'd say get that.  Otherwise, the cheaper one at Amazon will do a good enough job.

Hi, I just bought this laptop, this should be good enough to run the game and 3d match engine smoothly right? Didn’t really wanna spend more than £500 as I’m only using it for FM22 and just general stuff.

It will do.... possibly not at the highest 3D settings, but definitely medium at least.
