No. His stats have been brought more into line with a lower level Championship/ Upper League One club standing, he'll still be a starting Centre Back, but is more true to life than he was in the past. Also had a bid and contract accepted for Brynjar Gunnarsson (sp?) but he failed medical! so will try again when he is fit. By the way has anyone bought Fabrice Fernandes? he's free on the game, and just offered a contract not sure whether to go throught with it. what you reckon chrs... I've just won promotion via playoffs in my second season in championship :) premier league here we come!!! forest till i die!! If you look up ^ you can see that it took me 13 days to do a season =) I've been playing on it all day and i said to my self that i wanna finnish this season b4 i go to bed at like 2pm and its now 6.40am and ive completed the season and promoted!! sorry if i seem hyper and just nakerd and buzzing! So far I'm having a fantastic debut season. Reading through others seasons on here, so far it sounds like I'm shaping up quite well in comparison, so thought I'd share it with you. Granted I'm only in to November on my game, but after 14 league games I'm exceeding all of my expectations, sitting 2 points clear of Reading on 35 pts. I play a simple, traditional 4-4-2, an attacking outlook, wingers pushing up, full backs pushing up, CB's holding back. Bobby E is actually doing great for me, so far with 8 goals. Cohen is playing well. Chambers is my highest ave. rating. Breckin has forced his way back into my starting line up, after I was ready to flog him, by being Mr Dependable (sound familiar?!) Not made too many signings; Glauber on loan, Lequi on a free, Robbie Fowler on a free (5 goals so far), a young left sider Sebastjan Komel (possibly more for the future), Richard Kingson on loan as goalie cover, plus hopefully a future gem called Terry Dixon, 18, on a recent free. Not sold anyone, just sent 6 youngsters on loans. I have let loads of backroom staff go, and scoured the staff employed by national sides and snapped up some great coaches who weren't working for clubs at the same time - for example my 1st Team Coach (with good stats) is former Italy keeper Angelo Peruzzi on a mere £275 per week! I promoted Nick Marshall to be my Assistant Manager. In fact Chris Fairclough is the only other original member left. Derby away looms in 4 games time.... Quite annoying that a load of the players I got on season-long loans before won't come now, either on loan or permanent deals! I also noticed on a couple of people's posts above what they've received in transfer fees for outgoing players. From my experience of various attempts, here is what I've managed to get rid of people for and who generally buys them.... * Paul Smith - £15 million - Man City - yeah, I know it's technically cheating, but what the hey. * Kelvin Wilson - £2 million - Hull. * Luke Chambers - £750,000-1 million - normally to Sheffield United. * James Perch - £1 million - Reading or Wolves. * Brendan Moloney - £50,000 - Cheltenham or Hereford. * Joe Heath - £50,000 - various. * Ian Breckin - £375,000 - Sheffield Wednesday. * Wes Morgan - £400,000 - Coventry. * Aaron Davies - £500,000-875,000 - Cardiff or Plymouth. * Mark Byrne - £500,000-875,000 - Cardiff, Plymouth or Burnley. * Nathan Tyson - £600,000 - Coventry or Crewe. * Emile Sinclair - £500,000-875,000 - Cardiff. * Newbold, Staples, Sharpe, etc on frees. Players I've brought in on various games (a few ex-Trickies thrown in for good measure too) and my assessment of them.... * Darren Ward (Goalkeeper - Sunderland, loan) - pretty solid all round. * Paul Gerrard (Goalkeeper - unattached) - solid backup for squad. * Jimmy Walker (Goalkeeper - West Ham, loan) - decent, solid backup. * Graham Alexander (Defender - Burnley) - excellent so far, great penalty taker too. * Kevin McNaughton (Defender - Cardiff) - excellent and can play DL, DR or DC. * Matt Lawrence (Defender - Palace) - good squad player, again can play all across the defence. * Billy Jones (Defender - Preston) - very unimpressive, constantly ballses up and give away vital goals! * David Wright (Defender - Ipswich) - pretty solid so far, again can play DL, DR or DC. * Razvan Rat (Defender - Shakhtar) - excellent so far on my new game, plays as DL or WBL. * Ferrie Bodde (Midfielder - Swansea) - superb, the star of my current team, constant high ratings. * Chris McCann (Defender / Midfielder - Burnley) - decent squad player, can play a number of positions. * Danny Butterfield (Defender / Midfielder - Palace) - decent squad player, has impressed when used. * Gareth Edds (Defender / Midfielder - Tranmere) - good utility player, useful as backup. * Damien Johnson (Defender / Midfielder - Birmingham) - again, decent squad player. * Billy Sharp (Striker - Sheffield United) - not bad so far, will develop as the seasons roll on I'm sure! * Andrew Keogh (Striker - Wolves) - On fire in pre-season, then couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo. * Simon Church (Striker - Reading) - Pretty good so far, actually scores goals! * Michael Chopra (Striker - Sunderland, loan) - absolutely dire, constant low ratings and no goals! I know there are others. I just can't think of them at the moment. I'll post them later. On another note, has anyone managed to get Charlie Adam or John Fleck from Rangers in the first season? I'm mostly struggeling for consistency, with my defence going from hard as iron one match to a bunch of amateurs the next. Of course, a series of injuries hasnt helped here. Whittingham came back for one match and promptly became injured again.... Helgusson and Earnie are joining him on the sidelines, leaving me seriously short of attack power. wayne'o Posted December 31, 2008 Share Posted December 31, 2008 Some of you guys have turned Forest around pritty quick, well done. 1st season, i finished i finished 11th scoring 71 goals, my down fall was letting in 76, Tyson scored 23. 2nd season i finished 4ht, scored 71 again, but only let in 47, i lost to bristol City 3-1 away in the 2nd leg so didnt make it to the prem, Tyson again was top scorer with 17, Earnshaw is ok but for 15k a week, it's a rip off.. he doess core 1 in 2 tho.. season 3, Changed my beloved 4-4-2 to my Benitez 4-2-3-1 and with 8 games gone im 2nd with 19 points... Most memorable moment, losing to Liverpool 4-1 in 1st season in FA Cup Quater final or rnd6 at home. Season 2, beat Liverpool on penalites after drawing 3-3 in League Cup Quater Final, 2-0 down after 20 mins, pulled it back to 2-2 by HT, Liverpool went ahead on 75 mins, Tyson scored to make it 3-3 on 80 mins. I had a player off injured on 90 mins, went down to 10 men, Wilson sent off in extratime on 102 mins, held out for 3-3 with 9 men for 18 mins... gerrard missed Liverpool's 4th penalty, i won 5-4 on pens.. Lverpool had 31/14 shots to my 14/7.. I then went on to play Everton in the semi's i was 1-0 up after 1st leg, crashed 3-1 after losing nd leg. So we are gonna definitely buy quality players in the summer window and maybe battle for a mid-table finish! Top player was: Francisco Guillermo Ochoa, signed him for 8M in pre-season and what a bargain!! He's bloody fantastic! He's been our top player by far! He even won the GK position in the Premier League Select! But this is the sweet thing!: We qualified for the UEFA Cup!! Had a few new signings this season none better than my nemesis striker from the previous season from derby who has turned in to a real gem this season scoring 27 goals in 35 games, tkachenko also had 27 goals but played 39 games. Players in Vasily belousov 30k regen Christios Giannopoulos 180k regen Michael turner free Victor Eaton 7k regen Phil Stephenson 4.3m regen wonder kid Rafael 3.4m Ched Evans 2.2m Sergio asenjo 2.9m Vladimir bystov free Lot off players from my championship team are still around but will need to offload them and strengthen heavily again this season if I’m going to push on and move up the table. How have you all found it all-- my initial look round suggests it could be pretty tricky? how are you all doing after 2 or 3 seasons? Well in my first season I found it a bit tricky and a bit easy really, I finished 11th. In my second season I made loads of new quality signings and I got promoted via playoffs. In my third season in the Premier League was tricky too, but I servived and finished 17th Now I'm in my forth season and I've made altogether 19 new signings in the summer transfer window and some of them i signed for back-ups and some of them are leading stars for the Premier League!.. Mar$haLL Posted February 15, 2009 Share Posted February 15, 2009 Just finished another season as Forest boss: Finished in 5th place and 1 point away from 3rd & 4th place, I'm gutted that we didn't make the Champions League. We had a excellent run towards the end of the season but we let our selfs down in the final game losing 2-0 at Fullham and if we drew that game that would of been enough to secure a Champions League spot next season. Started slowly but soon got up to mid table where i stayed untill March when I made my sprint to the playoffs and finished 5th. Lost first leg of semi final to Birmingham 4-3 but beat them 2-0 at the City Ground. Beat Watford 2-1 in the final to bring premier league football back where it belongs! 1st Season Team GK - Paul Smith - Very solid RB- Perrier Doumbe (bought from Celtic for 6k) - average LB- Julian Bennet after Emiliano Insua's loan expired CB- Ricardo Rocha (loaned from Spurs) - solid CB- Kelvin Wilson - got better as season went on and contributed vital goals CM- Jack Cork (loaned from Chelsea) - great signing CM- Michael Morton (bought from Orlando Pirates for 85k) - very solid,good youngster AMR- Thomas Dossevi (bought from FC Nantes for 130k) - good but eractic, chips in with important goals AML- Capdevilia (bought from Murcia for 325k) - brilliant buy! loads of assists AMC- Chris Cohen - player of the season, goals and assists, at times carried the side ST- Heidar Helguson (loaned from Bolton) - fantastic, 20 goals in 30 league starts Will update with my premiership adventure Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
walterwoods Posted March 5, 2009 Share Posted March 5, 2009 in my 2nd sesaon at Forest, Cohen is unhappy with me as he is playing great and attracting the likes of Rangers, but i wont sell him. he is playing gradually worse and wont sign a new contract. gutted to say i might have to sell him otherwise he'll walk on a free. Anyone else sign Shelton Martis early on in season one for the troublesome RB spot? he was the leagues "signing of the year", and has made it onto the favoured personnel list in the forest information page. 35K he cost me, worth every penny. I've started playing FM 2006 again instead, and it's so, so, so much faster and easier. The Forest team on 06 is awesome too (well, for League One anyway)! Kris Commons, Eugen Bopp, Paul Gerrard, Gary Holt and Alan Rogers are all excellent in the game. I always sign Dean Windass as well and he's an absolute goal machine for the first season. Promised high bonuses for league/cup. Ended up 2nd place on equal points to Sheff Utd, with 2 fewer on the goal difference. Signings were Tremoulinas for about a mil (bit of a waste) and extending Martin's loan to whole season. More than satisfying 1st season in the Premiership finishing 15th in the league but performing wonders in the cups. Made it through to the semis in the F.A. Cup only getting knocked out by Chelski but more importantly won the Carling Cup !! Managed to defeat Chelski in the semis 5-3 on aggregate and then beat Arsenal in the final 3-1 with Chris Cohen having a blinder. Top scorer was Paloschi with 15 and Chris Cohen once again was top assist maker. Main transfers before season 3 : Out : Apam 20M to Spurs (wanted to go, so p*ss off then ...) McCleary Posted April 7, 2009 Share Posted April 7, 2009 As a proud Nottingham Forest fan & season ticket holder, I hardly ever use a team but Forest in fm09. I don't play loads but I'm getting into it now. In my first season I comfortably finished 16th on 55 points (around 15 points off the relegation zone) with Chris Cohen getting player of the season. I managed to keep hold of him and get him to sign a new contract by putting a £5 Mil pricetag on him, Dinamo Kiev, Rangers and Celtic soon left him alone. With regards to the Robbie Earnshaw "issue", to get him to play well, I changed his training regime to focus on his shooting and he soon started scoring the goals I needed. My key signing was Danny Webber, who I got in January for only 50k off Sheffield United, he scored around 10 before the end of the season, even if he is a little bit injury prone. Other than that I signed youngsters, including a young Estonian international winger who looks a good prospect and a Norweigen international centre back who is now my first choice. I also had David Edgar on loan for the whole season, who I played alongside Wes Morgan in defence. I couldn't get a replacement when Lee Martin left but Garath McCleary (my favourite player) filled in well and scored some amazing goals. My best team last season: GK: Smith - Reliable throughtout, much better on the game than in real life. LB: Bennett - Heath is no real competition and he coped well. CB: Morgan - Vice Captain, however I rarely need Perch and is a great tackler CB: Edgar - Don't have him any more but he is very quick meaning strikers were less dangerous RB: De La Cruz / Moloney / Wilson - None really stood out and I went by who was on form. LM: Martin / McCleary - Martin good until he left then wouldn't come back. McCleary did well afterwards. CM: Moussi - Provided cover for the defence as I had him running back, crucial to my season CM: Cohen - Player of the season, 3rd top scorer, fantastic player, keep hold of at all costs RM: Anderson - Was overall good, however wouldn't join in my 2nd season on loan ST: Earnshaw - Started well, had bad patch mid season, top scorer on around 14 goals ST: Tyson / Webber - Tyson was good, however he got a bad injury and never came back. Subs: CM: McGugan - always on the bench, never really needed CM: Perch - used as a utility player but never got a game RB: One of the 3 right backs that I wasn't playing went there ST: Garner / Other striker - Garner never showed form and didn't deserve a place LM: Laabus - Estonian winger who is showing promise in the reserves Outs that season: Fetched about 100k for Arron Davies, sold Luke Chambers in January as I didn't need him. Sold Wilson at the end of the season and brought in a different cover player. In my 2nd season I am 5th after 11 games as I am writing this. Cohen has already scored 10 goals in 13 games (including cup games). The team is still almost the same except I have Peter Lovenkrands on a season long loan from Newcastle on the left wing and Zander Sutherland, a right winger from Inverness CT on the right. These two can be easily replaced with Darren Ambrose (who I signed on a free after Charlton went down) and Garath McCleary. Even Hovland (Norway international defender) is next to Wes Morgan in defence instead of David Edgar and usually Moloney will be my starting right back. My squad is too big now and I am looking to sell a few players. Namingly Sinclair and Newbold for now and possibly a few midfielders. If it looks like I will be in the premiership in season 3, then I will look into a clearout of players not up to the standard in hopes of signing better players. up the forest!
